less lovingitis, more marriageitis, plz. too many irrelevant love this una love ![]() What's the use of that, when you're not teenage kids. |
i think if the AA man has spent some time outside of his country- preferably in nigeria, there might be some kind of common ground between him and a nigerian woman? ![]() if he hasnt, its rather risky but never say never. btw, all the half Nigerian half AA males- who are they marrying? Fellow Americans? |
i think there is a problem! maybe nigerians need to take a break from fighting and killing each other,419, scamming, looking for their enemies, etc etc, and look for a solution to this problem of the men refusing to marry while more and more women cant find suitors to marry them? ![]() we have crime at higher levels than normal, with boko haram, kidnappers, lynchers and so on ruling the waves and roaming around unchecked, while ensuring there is a breakdown in normal societal functioning, and this may be having an impact on the matter under discussion? |
jan 2006 Community Woos Suitors THE Ekpeye Clan of Ahoada Local Government Area in Rivers State has raised alarm over the high number of adult girls who are not finding men to marry them. The Vanguard newspaper of January 24, 2006, p.8. The relevant story is titled "Community woos suitors for "overripe" spinsters - slashes bride price to N15,000". The traditional ruler of the Ugboji Clan of Ekpeye Eze Innocent Odum, concerned that his kingdom is littered with grown-up girls of marriageable age, who in spite of their beauty, education and good breeding, could not find anyone to marry them, decided to set up a committee titled "The Bride Price Committee". Its term of reference was to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the seeming inability of Ekpeye babes to attract men and to make appropriate recommendations to correct the situation.re:nairaland |

Denise216: I believe single men don't have an incentive to marry these days, lower birthrates in modern cities suggest single women are starting to feel the same way about motherhood. Aside from traditionalists quality of life is becoming a priority over social obligation. Its great for the economy too.Well, true a lot of single men dont see any incentive to marry. You made some valid points there. |
If a girl offers to pay for her wedding because she's financially better off than the man, its also seen as a bad thing. Seems like there's a quandary when it comes to singles nowadays. Especially the nigerian ones. |
Na original nigerian high school musical. |
this op appears to be out of his mind. He pioneered a couple of threads that are bizarre.he just opened another thread calling himself an evangelist who is busy committing fornication. clearly, something is wrong with him somewhere. |
Same reason they pressure their sons to marrytrue |
hopefully most or all of them will get their own man soonest. on nl alone, see the number of bachelors? |
The parents should also try to find her one or more suitors. Sometimes people do need help in this area. They ( parents) can look for matchmakers or at least let people know they're scouting for eligible young men. |
Shouldnt the mother have been reading his cell phone messages like every day? We are not in the era of pen, paper and snail mail anymore nah. Those ones took time, unlike texting and email which are received instantly. |
Others have said it all. Lord have mercy-na time dem suppose take study be this oh. ![]() |
But, hmmm, anyway, i think the stock answer is creams, facial mask, mary kay, etc. |
getting older isnt necessarily supposed to be about trying to stay young, but more about aging with grace, imo. the former leads to ridicule, desperation and low self esteem, while the latter keeps one grounded in the real world. what exactly is so fearful about not being a spring chicken? ![]() i really dont get it. even the bible says you do not put new wine in old bottles. but come to think of it, there's also a psychological explanation for these phenomena. |
ok, i've gone through one of the threads and all i could see was the usual nl theatrics. too much posturing over nl positions. am out- these things have never interested me and neither do i consider nl a respectable or responsible enough site to warrant my attention overly much in this kind of matter. obviously, there's the typical "stuff going on behind the scenes" happening here, and as i always say, e nor concern me!!!! |
Nld Igbos voted for herhow do you know that? just curious. i could have voted if I'd wanted to, and I'm not Igbo. (I wasnt on the thread btw). was someone vetting the process? |
why would you think that? ![]() where's the evidence for such an assumption. ![]() |
@ Desola its of course commendable that you're standing up for your fellow woman, but just calm down, that's all. no need to get so agitated over the matter. if nothing else, she's a mod and her fellow mods will clear the thread later if she so desires. |
Desola: really? so this is about being ibo or not to you?she's seen the thread and responded she'll be here later on- why not wait till then and then defend her if you feel she's being picked on. when she responded, she did not sound overly disturbed and neither did she feel it warranted an urgent response. She is igbo, and if she so desires, she will dialogue with her detractors and they'll sort the matter out. This isnt the first time she has been in such a situation and the one I know of, she held her own. so, she's not the weak helpless individual you're making her out to be. and yes, she's igbo- you cant say you know her people more than her. i dont think seun consulted anyone here before making her a mod- that should tell you something. |
you didnt quote Quran, you didnt insert any Arabic words, you didnt quote Hadith, you didnt mention any laws, bylaws or guidelines, and you expect the site qualifies for the thread title? |
its usually when they're trying to impress seun or mukina that these tendencies crop up. check anybody. |
Desola: For goodness sake! What does it matter if she's quater caste or half caste or mixed anything? Is that the bone of contention here?calm down- ogugua herself isnt as bothered as you are. are you saying you're more igbo than she is? |
is the moniker is very suspicious. see how the frog keeps trying to drag me into his deranged issues in any manner possible. fellow don tear cloth enter market finish. |
offtopic and @ picture ogugua has a mixed look about her, imo. of course, could be the effect of overseas, but somehow i'd be surprised if that were it (only). rawlings' kids https://omgghana.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Kimathi-middle-flanked-by-Amina-and-Yaa-Asantewaa.jpg |
kingoflag: SHE POSTS THAT WAY BECAUSE SHE'S AMERICAN, FOR CHRIST'S SAKES!!!! DOES THAT MAKE HER ANY LESS IGBO FOR BEING OPENMINDED AND PRACTICAL IN HER OUTLOOK ON LIFE?!!um, why quoting me, or what's my business with any of this. i simply mentioned the way she posts is not new to her. |
if the female hippos in your family line didnt teach you manners, then its certainly not on nl that you'll learn. ![]() |
did the husband ask for your opinion? i'm sure if they ask now, you dont have either a girlfriend or wife. not to mention nobody knows you? ![]() meaning you're a nonentity, in case you dont get it. |
things like this are the reason why wealthy nigerians go abroad for medical treatment. the "leaf" has no name, is not known to any other human, and must thrive in myths rather than tested facts? ![]() |
