i think if the AA man has spent some time outside of his country- preferably in nigeria, there might be some kind of common ground between him and a nigerian woman? huh

if he hasnt, its rather risky but never say never.

btw, all the half Nigerian half AA males- who are they marrying? Fellow Americans?
CultureRe: Bachelors In Kano Go Into Hiding As ''Bachelor Hunter'' Goes On Prowl by tpia1: 10:45pm On Nov 09, 2012
i think there is a problem!

maybe nigerians need to take a break from fighting and killing each other,419, scamming, looking for their enemies, etc etc, and look for a solution to this problem of the men refusing to marry while more and more women cant find suitors to marry them? huh

we have crime at higher levels than normal, with boko haram, kidnappers, lynchers and so on ruling the waves and roaming around unchecked, while ensuring there is a breakdown in normal societal functioning, and this may be having an impact on the matter under discussion?

Community Woos Suitors

THE Ekpeye Clan of Ahoada Local Government Area in Rivers State has raised alarm over the high number of adult girls who are not finding men to marry them.
Troubled by the development, the Ugboji Clan of Ekpeye traditional rulers and elders have taken steps to woo suitors for their daughters, some of who are becoming "overripe", for house wives.

Traditional ruler of the area, Eze Innocent Odum, has announced that any man from the community or elsewhere, who has N15,000 in his pocket and is willing to pick a wife, could do so with a smile. ...

http://www.accessmylibrary.com/article-1G1-141283077/community-woos-suitors-overripe.html
The Vanguard newspaper of January 24, 2006, p.8. The relevant story is titled "Community woos suitors for "overripe" spinsters - slashes bride price to N15,000". The traditional ruler of the Ugboji Clan of Ekpeye Eze Innocent Odum, concerned that his kingdom is littered with grown-up girls of marriageable age, who in spite of their beauty, education and good breeding, could not find anyone to marry them, decided to set up a committee titled "The Bride Price Committee". Its term of reference was to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the seeming inability of Ekpeye babes to attract men and to make appropriate recommendations to correct the situation.

Community adopts N50,000 as bride price

The Kutep Community in Tatum Local Government Area of Taraba has adopted N50,000 as the bride price to be paid on any marriageable lady regardless of the tribe or custom of the suitors.

Speaking on Sunday at the first Kuteb Nation Worldwide Thanksgiving Service in Takum, the President of RCCN Church, Rev. Risae Yakubu, said that the policy was aimed at ensuring that ladies from the area were made affordable.

Yakubu said that the rule applied to all irrespective of the tribe of the suitor or the background of the lady.

“People who used to fear marrying Kutep ladies because of the high cost of bride price can now come.”

“With the minimum wage already implemented by Gov. Suntai, your one month salary can finish it.”

He said that the thanksgiving was in appreciation of the fact that God had restored relative peace, prosperity and glory of the Takum Chiefdom.

According to him, people of all races could come to Takum and do their normal business and leave in peace.

He noted that among other things, God had restored love, trust and friendship between the Kutebs and the neighbouring tribes.
“We are delighted that our neighbours — the Jukun, Chamba, Tiv, Ichen, Yukuben, Igbo, Yoruba, Tigun, Ndoro and Hausa among others –, have joined us in this declaration of thanksgiving.”

In his address at the occasion, Rev. Dr. Caleb Ahima, who is the Secretary-General of TEKAN, with headquarters in Jos, urged religious leaders, traditional rulers, and politicians to guide the younger generation on the need for peaceful co-existence to bring about development.

“We need to tell God that the troubles of the past that destabilised this area will not repeat itself so that the ruins of the wars will be rebuilt,” he said.
In his remarks, Gov. Danbaba Suntai, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion, commended the Kuteb Nation Worldwide for their initiative at ensuring that peace was restored in the area.

Suntai pointed out that returning to God was the ultimate and assured the people of Takum that the state government was prepared to cooperate with them to improve the lot of the people.

He informed them that the bill for all equipment supplied for the completion of the Takum General Hospital had been paid.

He said that the facility would be ready for use by the end of the year, while the hospital in Lisam, in Ussa local government, would be completed in the first quarter of 2012.

RomanceRe: Why Most Guys Avoid Marriage by tpia1: 9:02pm On Nov 09, 2012
Denise216: I believe single men don't have an incentive to marry these days, lower birthrates in modern cities suggest single women are starting to feel the same way about motherhood. Aside from traditionalists quality of life is becoming a priority over social obligation. Its great for the economy too.
Well, true a lot of single men dont see any incentive to marry.

You made some valid points there.

If a girl offers to pay for her wedding because she's financially better off than the man, its also seen as a bad thing.

Seems like there's a quandary when it comes to singles nowadays.

Especially the nigerian ones.

FamilyRe: Why Do Parents Pressure Their Daughters To Marry? by tpia1: 3:55pm On Nov 09, 2012
The parents should also try to find her one or more suitors.

Sometimes people do need help in this area.

They ( parents) can look for matchmakers or at least let people know they're scouting for eligible young men.

How are you combating the effects of aging, personally??
anyway, i think the stock answer is creams, facial mask, mary kay, etc.
RomanceRe: Look In The Mirror... by tpia1: 4:25am On Nov 09, 2012
getting older isnt necessarily supposed to be about trying to stay young, but more about aging with grace, imo.

the former leads to ridicule, desperation and low self esteem, while the latter keeps one grounded in the real world.

what exactly is so fearful about not being a spring chicken? huh

i really dont get it.

even the bible says you do not put new wine in old bottles.

but come to think of it, there's also a psychological explanation for these phenomena.

too much posturing over nl positions.

am out- these things have never interested me and neither do i consider nl a respectable or responsible enough site to warrant my attention overly much in this kind of matter.

obviously, there's the typical "stuff going on behind the scenes" happening here, and as i always say, e nor concern me!!!!

@ Desola

its of course commendable that you're standing up for your fellow woman, but just calm down, that's all.

no need to get so agitated over the matter.

if nothing else, she's a mod and her fellow mods will clear the thread later if she so desires.
PoliticsRe: ***Impeach Ezenwanyi Elect, Ogugua88. Unfit To Lead.*** by tpia1: 9:21pm On Nov 08, 2012
Desola: really? so this is about being ibo or not to you?

Furthermore, how do you know that she is not bothered by it, are you now a mind reader?

The bone of contention here is the statement she allegedly made and not what the colour of her skin is.

Are you able to stay on the subject matter?
she's seen the thread and responded she'll be here later on- why not wait till then and then defend her if you feel she's being picked on.

when she responded, she did not sound overly disturbed and neither did she feel it warranted an urgent response.

She is igbo, and if she so desires, she will dialogue with her detractors and they'll sort the matter out.

This isnt the first time she has been in such a situation and the one I know of, she held her own.

so, she's not the weak helpless individual you're making her out to be.

and yes, she's igbo- you cant say you know her people more than her.

i dont think seun consulted anyone here before making her a mod- that should tell you something.

Goodness gracious!!!

Women are their own worst enemies!
calm down- ogugua herself isnt as bothered as you are.

kingoflag: SHE POSTS THAT WAY BECAUSE SHE'S AMERICAN, FOR CHRIST'S SAKES!!!! DOES THAT MAKE HER ANY LESS IGBO FOR BEING OPENMINDED AND PRACTICAL IN HER OUTLOOK ON LIFE?!!

These cruddy and 10 mins to dead old men attacking her were raised in a society where women have no say in anything thats why her approach on issues astonishes them. "How dare a woman speak while I'm speaking?" mentality.

Animals!
um, why quoting me, or what's my business with any of this.
