PoliticsRe: Alaafin: The Hypocrisy Of Africans (Nigerians) by tpia1: 4:19pm On Sep 10, 2014
djon78: The King was simply displaying our African culture. It is just that modernity/ western civilisation has influenced and changed a lot of things in our cultures. Most of us are just 2nd generation from polypamy, my Grandpa from my Dads side married 3 wives, while on my Mums side, her Dad married 4 wives. It was just from my Dads generation that it became 1 wife. So the op should leave the King alone.
some areas have had monogamy since the 1800s or even before.

thus, their great grandfathers, or great great grandfathers, were monogamous.

but for most of nigeria, polygamy is the norm.

princessayesha: Assalamu alaykum
Please I would like to ask for your opinions. What's the pride of a woman? Is it her purity? Wealth or her level of education?
And to my muslim brothers which do u prefer? Pure, wealthy or a very educated woman.
Allah's blessings as u help a sister
its two separate questions, actually.
FamilyRe: How Upbringing And Experience Affect The Perception Of Men By Women by tpia1: 3:48pm On Sep 10, 2014
cococandy: The biggest contributor is that when young hormone driven and mostly unreasonable dudes start saying it,the older mature ones don't call them to order.
being older and mature doesnt rule out cheating. Its a sex addition most times, going by various names but all saying and meaning the same thing.

not all young men cheat, likewise not all older men are faithful to their partners.

In addition, many women also see nothing wrong in men cheating. After all, the men dont cheat by themselves, it takes one or more willing participants.

LiteratureRe: We Should Have Nairaland Literature Prize by tpia1: 3:48pm On Sep 09, 2014
1. where is the cash coming from?

2. The rating and voting should not come with any prize ( or minimal prize) besides the publicity and publishing contract, imo. Rating on nl doesnt always reflect quality or saleability. You should make sure the work will appeal to a post-nl audience unless your intentions are for nl alone.

3. Who would be the panel of judges, what are their antecedents/qualifications for the position (preferably not based on popularity/buddy system plz)

4. The publishing contract makes sense but only if a swot analysis accompanies it.

5. Which genres or subjects?

6. Any guidelines for works examined?

Godmystrength: she remembers her ex and calls his name, you will think she is calling your name. That's cheating
Did the ex copyright the name?

Why would you think she's calling the ex when she's calling you?

Na oluwole name?

IslamRe: Describe Your Dream Nikaah by tpia1: 2:16am On Sep 09, 2014
should the bride smile or frown [ie look serious], is any meaning attached to either expression? And what's the importance.

just wondering.
CultureRe: Olokun by tpia1: 2:04am On Sep 09, 2014
^you should know olu is a male title meaning owner of, king or potentate.

ye, or iye is the female version which doesnt necessarily command/connote as much power.

so. its not about 'pofo', rather its about correctly interpreting the myths.

olokun is male, however, as with every other figure, females can sometimes represent or work in their service as well.

in addition, the gender varies by geographical location or purpose sometimes, as many of you pointed out.
FoodRe: My Garden Egg, Cabbage, And Egusi Soup Recipe (with PHOTOS) by tpia1: 9:54pm On Sep 08, 2014
so, you grated the garden egg instead of mashing it?

also, I've never tried it with egusi before, sounds interesting.
FamilyRe: Should This Be A Problem? (True story) by tpia1: 9:45pm On Sep 08, 2014
there's too much "coincidence" involved for it to be coincidence.

I find it hard to believe she set out to find someone who's the exact replica of her ex.
its quite likely she didnt.
FamilyRe: Should This Be A Problem? (True story) by tpia1: 8:19pm On Sep 08, 2014
cococandy: What's 'awon aye'?
Means its by design, not coincidence.
FamilyRe: Should This Be A Problem? (True story) by tpia1: 7:33pm On Sep 08, 2014
cococandy: It means she has a kind of man.
And you fall in that category
it doesnt explain why they both bear the same name though.

someone's "kind of person" doesnt include same name.

so i think "awon aye' could be involved pending further investigation.
