AdoZazzau: I ignored the images the first two times but I couldnt pass the opportunity of finding out this third time. Maybe there is something there for me to learn. Do you know why they cover the head and what is the significance?
There is actually nothing there for you to learn.

Please keep it moving.

AdoZazzau: Yes tpia@, I am a Nigerian. There is a disease that comes with western educatiin and is called "discrimination". You Southerners suffer from the white man's syndrome and penchant for putting humanity into category buckets. What seemings do I need to posess for you to recognize I am Nigerian?
i dont buy into pity parties, so you might need to find a sympathetic audience elsewhere for your sly attempts to start making mountains out of molehills.

You do not seem nigerian, imo, if that statement offends you, then maybe you should attach "nigerian" to your moniker.

when you say you are nigerian, do you mean nigerien?
Culture › Re: Need Answer To The Yoruba Picture Please. by tpia5: 4:47am On May 28, 2013
AdoZazzau: Subhanallah! Please do not say that. No there is no sharing between paganism and Islam. I saw this picture in flckr of yoruba people sitting in front of an ifa priest and the ifa man had his head covered with a shawl. There is another one in youtube i bumped into accidentaly and it looked like a town festival and there were spiritual or pagan priests with white head cover. Now i see this posted picture online and i want ti know two things from yoruba peiple. number 1, why the head covered? 2. what is the priest doing in this picture? He held something in hand.

The other two pictures is for comparison and thats a muslim and jew with shawl cover for prayer. In my religion covrring head has a deeper spiritual meaning, its more than the ordinary prayer.
well, the photo looks muslim, imo.

However, i see no reason for you to bother yourself about all this other stuff you're saying, since i really fail to see how it concerns you per se.

is there a reason why you're so interested in yorubas?

bokohalal: Ado is typical Fulani.
Zazzau -Zaria(?) in Kaduna State.
Over emphasis usually means something is off.

In this case, the moniker in question is too eager to be recognized as fulani, not to mention he doesnt sound like one per se.

Christianity Etc › Re: Is It A Sin To Leave Church Before The Pastor Exit? by tpia5: 12:29pm On May 27, 2013
Sanboy25:
No, I don't think it's a sin.
The pastor should be the last to leave since he has to make sure that none of the believer needs to talk to him.
He should be there for his people, anyway, that's how it goes in MY church... undecided
The pastor is supposed to be there for you, and not the other way around...
Moses had to appoint others to assist him in ministering, when the load became too great and he was getting worn out.

Look at what you just typed, especially your last sentence?
Christianity Etc › Re: Is It A Sin To Leave Church Before The Pastor Exit? by tpia5: 12:27pm On May 27, 2013
bknight: Indoctrination.

Its not a sin. Maybe a sin against d pastor but not against God.

In a strict catholic rule, after mass, until d father (d procession) enters d sacristy d congregation shld not disperse yet.
True, maybe the poster is catholic.

But the question is still silly though.

Perhaps the op should give us some background into his situation so we can know what prompted it.

Culture › Re: What Does A Yoruba Village Look Like? by tpia5: 12:17pm On May 27, 2013
Ikengawo: this thread isn't meant to be tribalist at all, I'm just curious.
The reason is because I've never seen one. More importantly, all depictions of rural life in Nigeria are typically from the east when it comes to Nigerian media. I would say that Igbos tend to place a greater emphasis on their village of origin than other tribes, and even when they travel they still consider themselves citizens of that village first, but yorubas are more able to adopt a new local as their home and home for their children (as long as it's still in yoruba land or the west), so i'm curious to see if this cultural difference impacts village life there.

I also hear that traditional religions are more prevalent in Yoruba villages than in eastern ones.
Wow, such an error filled post.

No wonder no yoruba bothered responding to the question.

somalia9: its amazing the racial hierachy that exists in africa lol

some on here chide me and scorn me for saying somalis/ethiopians are better looking than negroids

but those same people say fulanis are better looking than typical west africans because a few fulanis have features that resemble somalis/ethiopians

amazing.
Fulani features are unique.

And they dont look somalian or horner, they look west african.
