^probably true. its very hard to break into the yoruba mold. you will always know you dont fit in. doesnt mean yorubas arent accommodating though. |
was there prior knowledge the plane would crash? too many ghouls around here predicting sh!!t. |
. |
^ and what of the lower middle class or upper/lower lower class viewpoint? Abagworo: From the upper middle class point of view, the answer is simply because nowadays Igbos seem to give women free hand in choice of marriage more than other Nigerian ethnic groups.are their fears justified? |
Boredom |
Obiagu1: . . . and Yoruba men are still marrying them in numbersare you asking me a question? Am I asking YOU why igbo women are rushing to yoruba men in large numbers? You're the one who keeps harping here- maybe you need to direct your questions to yoruba men and see what answers they can give you? |
at the end of the day, you just have to make the best out of what life gives you. your heritage doesnt necessarily have to be an albatross, or a cross round your neck unless you allow it to be so. if you're mixed tribe, chances are you will always be different from those around you, depending on the ethnic makeup and degree of admixture found in your neighborhood. i really dont see any choice besides getting used to it. How many people do you want to correct, fight, or hold grudges against? At least you havent been automatically considered a prostitute based on your "other" ethnicity yet, have you? just a few of the "things" out there. |
gej has spent an awful lot of time declaring mourning periods and sending condolence messages since he assumed office. . . . . . . . . . . God punish devil oh. ![]() |
on the USA today article about the crash, someone was asking why so many nigerians were commenting. oh well, talk is free. most of the comments were from nigerians, actually. |
so, is gej going to change the name of the university soon? ![]() God punish satan. |
might probably be easier to define what does not make someone a christian, going by what one sees these days. eg carrying a bible does not make you christian. warming the bench every sunday in church does not make you a christian. saying the loudest amen during prayers is not what makes you a christian. saying you are a christian is not what makes you a christian. etc etc. |
Lilboots: Pls check your news reports> Flight left Abuja for Lagos. I have nothing to gain from posting such stories if false. 90% of news reports will tell u that it was a Lagos bound flight from Abuja. Few of our local news source are reporting that it was a lagos to Abuja flight which developed fault and was returning to the airport. Her friends in ABJ has confirmed the above but however I am not here to sensationalize news. I was just putting a human face to such a sad tragedy. Its up to u to believe what u want to believe.so its when you see me that you develop muscle? ko ni da fun e!!!!! ori yo e to tete switch id to post here, you ugly coward! |
@ the people trying to pick fights over the passenger manifesto se ori yin daru ni? just shut up and get off the thread you beasts of no breeding! says volumes about your madness if you want to choose this kind of topic to settle whatever s.tupid scores you think you have with anybody. may you remain cursed for doing that, you bloody cowards with a thousand fathers!!!!! aye yin fo for presuming to bring your personal issues on to a thread like this. You wont stop until you are destroyed abi? that's ABSOLUTELY fine by me!!! people with sane minds would simply point out the girl's name on the passenger list, but these mad gorillas want to flex their ugly useless muscles like the b.astards they are? |
monkeyleg: It is comments like this that really annoy me. We are witnessing grand tragedy and people still willing to accept the mediocricy and failed government that has let us down for so long. We must start learning to hold people to accounttrue, they need to cordon off the area in case there's a risk of more tragedy, and also the secure the crash site. i'm sure they'll get around to it. Remember this is a tightly crowded neighborhood [not an open space] and it might take a while. |
names? may they rip. |
lord have mercy. |
^^baba jo, an bere irugbon. let people handle these things the way its done over there. nigeria doesnt claim to be a first world country, and the officials are doing what they can. nobody can adequately prepare for a tragedy of this proportion and no amount of organization or controlled movement will ever be enough, since nothing will bring back the people who died. i see your point, but to the best of my knowledge, NEMA officials are at the site, going by the few photos which are available. |

Lilboots: Nobody is playing pranks tpia etc. Can u pls move on! A plane carrying over 160 people and the manifest that was previously published contained 130 or so names. Are ther not some names missing? Pls check this link where Amina's name was listed in the manifesto. http://www.nigerianeye.com/2012/06/manifest-of-dana-air-that-crashed-in.html. Rather than trying to discredit people, try and sympathise with pple who have lost loved ones.Amina's name isnt listed in the passenger manifestos. why are you taking this fact personally? its either you wait for her name to appear, or just ignore whatever you dont agree with. jeez. and your "link" doesnt work, either. The page has been removed. Dont know what you're playing at, but just stop it. |
back to topic.. non-christians, learn to mind your own business. |
there were high profile people on board. Also, possibly security agents/intelligence officers. That would explain why the nigerian media are trying to play safe. |
But when i turned 16teen and my paternal cousins kept on calling us omo igbos, this was probably because you were acting like igbos and also you did say you went to igboland on holidays frequently. Re: I remember whenever i went to visit my grandma in umuahia, abia state, she always treated us as if we were igbo, and rarely acknowledged the fact our father wasnt from igbo tribethese things always create a dichotomy unless you live in an area where such doesnt matter eg parts of lagos. not saying there's anything wrong with being and acting both igbo and yoruba, but you have to find the kind of man [and friends] who will be comfortable with your identity, that's all. |
my post wasnt meant for you, thanks. |
don't see any amina idris bugaje or kim morrison on the manifestneither did I. |

mimifonwon: i just decided-against my mother's wish to claim both.not wise. your mum knows the reason for her advice. |
itoldu: And not 1 single national channel is showin or talkin about it. Just a subnews.that probably means some of the passengers are high profile in a security or intelligence related context. |
he's very secretive, so i doubt he'll give coherent answers. maybe you should ask mukina to reply on his behalf. |
