anonymous6: Obama was raised in non-white environments outside America in his early years, even though he was eventually raised by his white grand parents, he grew up in America where they judge you by your color of your skin, and obama was considered a black man, African American; which is how one of mentors became Reverand wright. So it makes sense obama ended up with a black women of the African American community as well. Obama is a rarity and doesn't represent the majority of mixed race men from white mothers though because not many are raised like obama was or influenced like he was.
not sure i get your point.

many mixed race men are raised in mostly non-white environments, and are quite familiar with the same.

neither does being raised in a white environment automatically mean someone will marry white, in any case.

osaze would still be considered black in most parts of europe.

he could be white in brazil.

and as a matter of fact, ABU has never had a name change since it's inception in 1962.

The Ashby Commission report recommendations gave a new impetus and direction, and it was ultimately decided to create a University of Northern Nigeria sited at Zaria (rather than Kano). The university would take over the facilities of the Nigerian College of Arts, Science and Technology at Samaru just outside Zaria, and would also incorporate the Ahmadu Bello College in Kano, the Agricultural Research Institute at Samaru, the Institute of Administration at Zaria, and the Veterinary Research Institute at Vom on the Jos Plateau. The law establishing the new university was passed by the Northern Region legislature in 1961. It was decided to name the university after Ahmadu Bello

Deep Sight: If we have Obafemi Awolowo University, Tafawa Balewa University, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Ahmadu Bello University. . . and these are all pre-eminent institutions, then it is CLEAR that the principle of naming an eminent Federal Institution after an eminent national hero is not in question.
says who?

the fact that they renamed some universities doesnt mean there's a hard and fast rule that they should rename ALL universities.

if that's the plan then they should just change the names of all the universities at one go, and get it over with.

and while doing that, they should free up the former names for other private institutions who have an interest, to take over for their own universities.

these colleges are named for the towns they're located in, which is significant.

Donmeca: fool! I give u 2 minutes to research and tell me if Harvard was not a man's name and if Harvard University wasn't named in honour of John Harvard.
enough of the senseless chit chat.

harvard is a PRIVATE university, you num@&&&ulls, and in spite of that, has had the same name since 1632.

abeg make una go siddon for corner!!!

Harvard University is an American private Ivy League research university located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States, established in 1636 by the Massachusetts legislature. Harvard is the oldest institution of higher learning in the United States[7] and the first corporation (officially The President and Fellows of Harvard College) chartered in the country. Harvard's history, influence, and wealth have made it one of the most prestigious universities in the world

@ topic

I'm very concerned about this name change and the fact that the initials now seem like a synonym for a certain militant group from another part of africa which was stamped out eventually by the british (dont know who founded it to begin with?)

Must everything gej does reflect cult association leanings? huh

btw what is gej's original indigenous family name since jonathan and goodluck are not found in any nigerian vocabulary.

moshood abiola almost never went by just two names. His full names are moshood kashimawo abiola (MKO). There is something very very fishy about goodluck jonathan and his backers (whoever they are).

Politics › Re: Sagay, Others Differ Over Renaming Of UNILAG In Honour Of Abiola by tpia5:
i think a law needs to be made barring any serving public offical from renaming any of the nation's federal higher institutions.

if you want to rename something, rename an airport, library or park.

the british govt recently announced they want to increase taxes on meatpies, a british staple.

britons told him in no uncertain terms, to better not try it.

the man backtracked immediately?
Education › Re: UNILAG Renamed 'Moshood Abiola University' by tpia5: 11:29am On May 29, 2012
yamakuza: no problem with that, as long as the names are worth the honor.
there's a problem with it sweetie. Overseas you see universities bearing the same name for hundreds of years. There's a reason for that. When they want to rename something, they rename airports, not institutions of higher learning.

Does anyone know why the nigerian govt always prefers to chase butterflies when their mates are chasing turkeys? We say update the infrastructure, but the priority seems to be changing names? And why are there no more federal universities being built which could be named anything they like? Even if una wan name am after una pikin or una pet rabbit?

Education › Re: UNILAG Renamed 'Moshood Abiola University' by tpia5: 11:06am On May 29, 2012
Quite obviously there's a blueprint for every good university in nigeria to be renamed one by one. Like i pointed out before, UNN will probably be renamed ojukwu university, university of calabar or uyo, will be renamed goodluck jonathan university, university of jos will change to either ibrahim babangida university or david mark university (or danjuma university) POssibly yakubu gowon university as well. And so on ad infinitum. You just wait and see. Unimaid, uniben, unilorin (sanusi lamido university), and other higher institutions with impartial names- just wait and see!

Mayflowa: The easiest way for your friend to get married is to arrange to get whoever she is dating now abroad. A gold-digger boyfriend my get stuck on that! lol
Come to think of it, if she couldnt grab a husband at 28, what make her think she would grab anyone soon while in naija?

I usually disagree when guys and gals try to make marriages unimportant and unnecessary. I have lived in many countries abroad, white ladies are also particular about marrying especially when they find love. Just that some just run away from realities. One white chic is currently on my friend's neck for marriage. Who doesn't like companionship. I even found myself needing a companion now. once u get to that age, the urge comes naturally.

White peeps are always having companion from teenager. They kiss openly, caress in train and live together with their partners. When black does that, they are labelled spoilt. Please leave black girls to get married joor.

Lastly, the chance of finding husband at her age abroad is slim. how many ready guys are there? They wud rather go for small girls. They won't even come close to her for relationship. Let her find her man in naija.
its mainly some of these guys based abroad who keep encouraging women not to marry.

well, i guess from their viewpoint, one cant blame them.

You rarely hear a nigerian man based in nigeria saying women must not marry.

fact of the matter is, marriageable men are scarce overseas, and the few available ones are hotly contested for by the women there, regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, etc.
Romance › Re: Do Nigerian Ladies Abroad Find It More Difficult To Find Husbands? by tpia5: 4:22pm On May 28, 2012
Ilaje44: Nothing wrong with being abroad as a Nigerian woman. However, your friend should be mindful of the circle of friends she keeps. She should rather go for the middle way. By that I mean, she should avoid those less educated owambe ring and the over educated I too knows. If she is patience enough, she would find a decent guy. She should just be herself.
i thought i was the only one who noticed these things?
Politics › Re: Why Is South Africa More Developed And Stable Than Nigeria?? by tpia5: 6:26am On May 28, 2012
if oyibos settle permanently anywhere (in particular, the british), they tend to develop the place though it might be at the expense of the indigenes.
