Mkpakala: Lagos reverses sacking of 34 doctors

Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola on Tuesday said his administration had reversed the sacking of 34 doctors out of the 788 dismissed recently.

He urged the remaining doctors to end the logjam in the health sector by emulating their colleagues and appealing to the Health Service Commission, since their reinstatement was still possible.

Fashola explained that the doctors were recalled because of their appeal and positive review of their cases.

The governor spoke during a panel discussion aired live on the state television station, LTV, to commemorate his 5th anniversary in office.

He said he could not order the reversal of the sacking because it was not his own making. He explained that his powers as governor of the state did not give him power to sack or employ any doctor.

Fashola pointed out that the HSC was the body saddled with the responsibility of determining the fate of the doctors.

He said, “It is not in my power to reverse the sacking, just as I cannot determine their promotion. It is the HMC that will promote them and since I won’t be here after three years, it is better to allow procedure to take its course. It is not about me, it is about institutions.”

He however said he was still making efforts to ensure a final resolution of the crisis, adding that any doctor that appealed stood a good chance of being recalled.

imo, the guy had the entire nigeria in his hands, and was practically handed the whole country on a platter.

that's the reason, i heard, why simbiat didnt support him running for president. She suspected there would be foul play and also knock on wood.

his rise to fame and riches were too meteoric, and it doesnt seem he knew he had enemies, or maybe he felt they were inconsequential.

just my analysis of those days.

emmasege: Is anything wrong in changing UNILAG's name when her age-mates (OAU and ABU) who are even more classy have since been re-named after deserved national heroes. if the reason for this protest by the students is because MKO did not deserve such a high level of honour, i give them my absolute support. As at today, no Nigerian dead or alive deserves to be named after UNILAG. The cases of Obafemi Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello are different. These were tested and selfless leaders whose legacies are indelible. moreover, mko does not stand in the same class as Awo and Ahmadu.
ABU was never renamed, as i'm saying for the umpteenth time.

you people should let the thread be.

^people marry within their class constructs, or slightly higher or lower, but generally remain in the same. However, this doesnt necessarily apply when immigration/migration is involved. So, what would be considered a rule of thumb in a situation where all things being equal, will have different pull and push factors when the ground rules are changed ie the basic environment. In this case, migration.

Google is everybody ' s friend though i dont know if some people dont have it on their computer. Nobody is trying to dispute the man with you- does his appointment make me win the lottery or rather wont he start rounding up his fellow nigerians- so i dont see what's agitating some folks. The name is found in the southwest and midwest- if its also found in the east then just say so without jumping up and down.

anonymous6: Majority of the time it tends to be that, especially in America Obama. If obama was raised about that he wouldn't have married Michelle, if he wasn't exposed the way he was, and his father being African is irrelevant because he was never there for him or was there to expose his culture to his son. when it comes to white females, they easily marry outside their race regardless of whether they are in their community or not because to a extent in the western world whites are treated as the most desired over other races(especially when they are the majority) and many white woman know this. Until Blacks start getting this concept they will keep hurting themselves because this is not the first time I see people bring up this fact when a biracial ends up with a white person when the signs were there and the obviousness of the person upbringing was a no brainer.
^^true, but if even blacks are ending up with white persons, why wouldnt biracials do the same?

afam4eva: Please, show me one Yoruba person who bears that name. Just do a google search on that name and tell me if any Yoruba person's name will appear.
olisa is a yoruba chieftancy title, though the guy being discussed might be edo or delta.
Celebrities › Re: Photos From Osaze Odemwingie's Wedding by tpia5: 8:38pm On May 29, 2012
anonymous6: well you brought it up and the non-white environment influenced obama. If he was raised in America in white American culture all his life he wouldn't have ended up with Michelle.
we dont know that.

he might have still married her regardless.

i brought up the point about him being raised in non-white environments, but lets not forget his dad was still african in spite of that.

even white ladies who were raised in white environments, marry blacks, so its not really unusual.

no doubt, these days biracial men tend to marry whites only, but i wouldnt consider it a necessarily hard and fast rule although i do see your point.
