AjanleKoko:
It's well worth the money, when you look at it.
obviously, people feel it is.

$12-17k is not that much money.
if you knew how people are being affected by this recession. . . . . . . . . . . .

even in a booming economy, $12-&17k is good money oh. That can pay rent for a year on an average apartment.

Essentially, that's probably what average Americans pay to have their babies. Maybe even more, since insurance picks up the tab.
very few americans can afford to pay that kind of money to have a baby.

without insurance, its very difficult.

ok, i did a little background reading on the topic.

what i gather [ and how this involves iraq] is:

after the death of Mohammed, there was a power struggle between the caliphs and his immediate family members [represented by his grandchildren from Fatima, Khadija's daughter].

Ali was one of the grandchildren, and had been primed as Mohammed's successor in the caliphate.

He was unable to immediately take that position because while the family were doing the burial rites for Mohammed, the caliphs quickly appointed someone else to lead the empire.

Ali [or was it Hussain] didnt dispute their actions at the time, for the sake of peace.  He later got the position after sometime [people died].

War broke out.

Ali or Hussain established a capital at Basra or Kufa in Iraq.

This leader was asked by a certain faction or town, to come to their area as their chief imam. They reassured him with letters and also a kind of army consisting of 18,000 men.

He accepted and set out.

Along the way [or after he got there], he was murdered.

An annual festival is held to commemorate this, in basra or kufa, where his followers wail, lament and vow vengeance.

still studying the subject, its somehow detailed and spans many countries and time periods.

^You're alarming yourself over nothing.

Nobody is claiming anything you're saying here so try to sheath your sword.

The midwest through the southwest is a mixture of people who are mainly creolized- that's a well known fact.

That's why pidgin is a common lingua franca there.

@ the ones who want to die because i reminded them their female relatives are being shiped all over the world as p.rostitutes, and by their fellow nigerians.

It is highly embarassing and exceedingly shameful that foreigners have been the ones trying to raise awareness of the plight of these girls while you nigerians act unconcerned- maybe you get a cut of the proceeds, who knows.

I myself have made reference to this human trafficking phenomenon countles times on this forum, as have others, and all we got and kep getting, is a very unconcerned and lackadaisical attitude. Even african americans in the US formed groups specifically to address this problem.

Now, for you to start shouting and screaming just because you want to pull oyedepo down, to me is the height of s.tupidity not to mention hypocrisy.

I am not going to comment much on the video itself although all these perpetrators of evil via video and whatever, will surely meet their reward. That one no concern me.

Shouldnt bonny or the people of bonny who allow others to achieve success in their endeavours, also get a mention.

Just asking, no biggie and no need for anyone to get excited.

Solomon11

you are mistaken.

I'm not from delta state but i've heard of lukumi before now.

However, i agree they arent well known and this is probably because they speak more than one language.

I believe the yoruba is considered their dialect and they also speak whatever language they consider a lingua franca.

But they've been in delta for generations.

kubura is probably an arabic name since the yoruba form is kuburatu.

kutumbi sounds central african or plateau.

now that baby farms have been in existence for a while now, when these children grow up with their unknowingly adoptee parents, of course many of the readings will go haywire.

just give it a couple of decades and we'll see what's been cooking.

in yorubaland though, looks run through families.

Family › Re: Are You Feeling Suicidal? Come Here First! by tpia5: 11:02pm On Dec 19, 2011
My post isnt meant for those who are genuinely passing through various struggles and trials which they have no control over, but its meant to address people who might not realise what they do might come back to haunt them someday.

Dont kill that spirit of kindness which God placed in every human breast. Its not necessarily a weakness depending on context.
Family › Re: Are You Feeling Suicidal? Come Here First! by tpia5: 10:48pm On Dec 19, 2011
Anyway, my point is identify your stressors if possible and dont rule out the fact that YOU may actually be your own stressor through your habits.
Family › Re: Are You Feeling Suicidal? Come Here First! by tpia5: 10:45pm On Dec 19, 2011
I think in some instances (maybe not all), its important to try and identify stressors which may be fueling the depression.

I'm no expert but that's my opinion.

Also, a stressor isnt necessarily a person you dont like (or your enemy), but could also be habits or characters/attitudes you yourself have but dont realize its a stressor.

I've noticed this is especially common with people who gossip a lot without having a corresponding balance of kindness which is supposed to be a key element of human nature. Dont know how else to put it but someone may get what i mean.

Your gossip habits, or the company you keep, which enables these habits, may be stressors which can leave you feeling desolate and without anything to fall back on during difficult times, or when you are depressed.

All hypothetical analyses of course.

Al harem

there is no missing link between yoruba and igbos.

Like i pointed out before, the itsekiri are a well known yoruboid tribe from the same state.

The origins of the lukumis have been explained times without number so there's no need to keep rehashing the story endlessly.

I've heard of yoruba speaking deltans ages ago- i just didnt consider it that big of a deal and neither do the people in question, to the best of my knowledge.

If anything at all,why not keep the topic on the other thread about it which you opened some time ago.
