Interesting @ topic.

Is that going to be the only flight school in the region.

Wondering if there shouldnt also be one in the southwest.

Anyway, is there a projected opening date and do they have a website.

If you're not close to your dad's side then i guess you'll have to rely on friends and probably start from or remain mainly in lagos if you decide to visit nigeria.

What about your dad's relatives @ poster.

Shouldnt they be your first port of call.

This is very puzzling.
Romance › Re: A Christian Marrying A Muslim And Vice Versa: How Does That Play Out? by tpia5: 12:35pm On Dec 07, 2011
A lot of moderate muslims who marry christian wives actually make very good relationship partners and treat the woman well.

The problems start when the husband decides he wants to be more conservative. Then they usually visit mecca, take on more wives, etc. Not all of them though, but a significant number do.

But before then, they do take good care of their family and the wife rarely complains.

if you're a christian, then pray very well over the matter.

at the same time, dont disregard your parents' opinion because they might have a point. It doesnt mean the relationship wont work however.

just that you might catch a glimpse of some attitudes, behaviours and characteristics the father has, in the man himself, in the future. Also, the family/cultural support from the man's side could foster what happened with his dad.

these are the things your parents might be concerned about i suppose.

you didnt state where you are from btw.

are you british nigerian or british english.

N250,000 is about two or three times the cost of a regular blackberry phone.

see here:

Determined to ensure that more Nigerians enjoy Blackberry services, national telecommunications operator Glo, has reduced the retail prices of top-rated Blackberry devices in its shops nationwide.

Details of the reduction shows that the Blackberry Gemini, which used to cost N54, 000 in Glo's retail shops, Gloworld, will now go for N49,000, giving a saving of N5,000. The Blackberry Bold, which used to sell at N100, 000 in Gloworld, now costs N95, 000, also a saving of N5, 000.

The biggest saving is for those who decide to go for the trendy Bold 2, which sells for N85,000 from the original N100,000, giving the subscriber a saving of N15,000
http://allafrica.com/stories/201009280775.html

so, if you can afford a blackberry then ideally you should be able to afford your school fees? huh

or is blackberry more important than school.

add to that the price of brazilian hair which the happening girls use, and you're almost at that N250,000.

^^like i asked on another thread- show me a website owned by an igbo man or woman, where igbos get bashed regularly, and in very definite terms.

the owner of nl claims he is yoruba. Should i pull up the barrage of anti-yoruba threads here.

etc etc.

let's not even go into the dating stuff.

there is quite literally, nobody who a yoruba man will not date.

check any anti-yoruba women thread: yoruba men will be leading the pack of naysayers.

thirdly- the number of yorubas who fought for biafra nko? huh

surprised you're asking this type of question.

This thread is making a impact that people are talking about the video in other threads, please continue to contribute to this thread, thanks
i've been trying to keep the thread on track but it's admittedly extremely difficult, given the nature of nairaland which is anti-intellectual and excessively clannish/retrogressive.

i do think we have to move beyond the fact that initially the europeans did not believe africans were capable of such art- almost every discussion about the sculptures focuses on that alone at the expense of examining the sculptures themselves.

This head is one of the most famous objects in the British Museum's ethnographic collections
http://www.britishmuseum.org/explore/highlights/highlight_objects/aoa/b/brass_head_with_a_crown.aspx
analysing the crown:

The elaborate headdress probably represents a crown. It has a central band which appears to include numerous glass or stone beads of different shapes and sizes. A fringe of feathers is indicated along the crown’s peaked front. The back of the neck is hidden by a beaded and plaited cover.

Most striking perhaps is the plaited crest rising from the front of the crown with a beaded conical boss at its base. Traces of red and black paint are evident throughout.

More like it would be easier to get info on that family through the mother dont you think.

Info on the mother is more accurate than info on the father because a father can have many wives and unknown number of children but the kids are easier to track through the mother.

Yes, the letter should be compared with other letters from that period.

But marriage wasnt the only thing discussed there though.
Christianity Etc › Re: Introduction To Ifa Religoin by tpia5: 12:25pm On Dec 06, 2011
I think you need to start a question and answer session because i for one would like to know what is the preoccupation with mother's names in traditional religion.

Nigeria is a patriarchal society so why not the father's name for all these things.

Politics › Re: What Tribe Will You Consider Most Liberal And Detribalized? Give Your Reasons by tpia5: 12:17pm On Dec 06, 2011
Yoruba are the most liberal.

As for detribalized- in nigeria, that's a matter of degree since no tribe is completely detribalized per se. So, i'd think yorubas generally have a greater degree of detribalization in their interactions with others.

All this isnt necessarily a good thing because sometimes it means you are considered s.tupid.
