Islam › Re: How Halal Is Our Meat? (Discuss) by tpia5: 11:49pm On Dec 11, 2011
well, you could buy kosher i guess.

same thing.

the agencies certifying kosher meat could just as well team up and do halal also.

i think europeans might find it easier to give credit for the art, if the owners can demonstrate verifiable and reasonable knowledge of the history of these artworks, their purpose and a verifiable chronological history attached to them.

anything by way of cooking up stories and jumping to illogical conclusions will only sway silly types with no substance. Actual scholars would want to see quantifiable and objective evidence of all of the above, as well as the place of these artworks in world history.

now, imo one of the reasons why this task is a difficult one is because the period covered by this art, falls under the dark ages, when it might have been crucial to destroy any tracks and links due to the danger of those times.

another reason could simply be the fluidity of history itself- nothing is really constant per se but continually shifting.

^^if you live in the US and your meat is halal certified, then what concerns you with the meat eaten in nigeria? huh

this is how outsiders cause problems for the people at home.

Hopefully someday you'll take a break from this constant whining over irrelevancies. Now it's hijab, next it's the meat is not halal, tomorrow it will be why are the men not growing beards, another day it will be something else.

Abeg who has time for goodness sake.

I think its high time i stopped posting in this section.

If nobel decides to award their prize to the most anti-islamic person you can think of next year, or the top idol worshipper in the world, i wonder if you'll still come and post that here.
Islam › Re: How Halal Is Our Meat? (Discuss) by tpia5: 8:19pm On Dec 11, 2011
Are you people working for boko haram and al quaeda, trying to impose militant islam on others?

If you're not comfortable with eating in the south then why not move to the north- especially the states with militant islamists who i'm sure will welcome you.

Since you feel you know better than the ones who have been practicing islam before you were born? huh

Islam › Re: Female Muslim *with Hijab* Receives Nobel Peace Prize For 2011 by tpia5: 2:21pm On Dec 11, 2011
Where is she from? huh

For some people, hijab is part of their culture.

Besides, shouldnt you congratulate her on winning the nobel, instead of focusing on the hijab alone. What did she do, etc.

You might have to become a vegetarian and also stop eating at restaurants if these things worry you too much.

Islam › Re: How Halal Is Our Meat? (Discuss) by tpia5: 3:50pm On Dec 10, 2011
Everything doesnt necessarily have to be compared to the west since some things are relative.

People have been eating meat in nigeria since the dawn of time, and we shouldnt always discount our own practices for no good reason.

Conditions at any slaughterhouse regardless of location, tend not to be appealing.

I assume the meat market in nigeria also has inspectors, standards, regulations, etc.
Food › Re: The Tea Thread by tpia5: 3:28pm On Dec 10, 2011
Tea is ok.

I drank it more as a kid than now.

I really miss using teacups, dunking the bread (was told that's a no no but still did it anyway) and having bread and butter.

Nowadays i cant touch butter or else i get like 100 pounds heavier on the spot, sugar is obviously not it, and even bread sef has to be curtailed.

Ah, i don suffer.

But in general, i'm ok with lipton though i've tried the assorted flavours sometimes out of curiousity.
Food › Re: Nigerian Desserts by tpia5: 3:17pm On Dec 10, 2011
Appetizers like chinchin, puff puff, etc are more common than desserts, in nigeria.

The culture isnt sugar based per se.

But for dessert, iguess you could say cake, ice cream, yogurt, etc and these arent eaten everyday.
Politics › Re: Delta Govt Washes Hands Off Onokpite’s Killing by tpia5: 2:56pm On Dec 10, 2011
Their calling someone "your excellency" over the phone could have been meant as a red herring.

Especially since they didnt kill the driver but allowed him to witness the entire incident.

The people in that photo do not in any way look like a couple.

Merely a pose for the camera.

As for the guy- any reason why he's not married or seeing anyone? huh

Alarm bells ringing.
Culture › Re: How To Show Sign Of Repect by tpia5: 11:39am On Dec 09, 2011
Obviously a windup.

Since most of these posters are actually masquerading under various user ids.

Who knows if its even a boko haram agent looking for info since any normal person would ask look for this type of information from the people around her, or whoever introduced her to the culture.

Not checking with complete strangers on the internet.

1. Whoever is making nigeria a dumping ground for bombs, guns, etc- may God forgive you.

2. Throughout history, this type of show usually precedes unwarranted violence directed against local civilian people.

any yoruba person supporting this group, needs their head examined.

3. anyone believing opc consists of, or is funded by only yoruba, lacks cognition. The group, and the other "nationalistic" groups all consisting mainly of waankers, are working for foreign bosses.

4. WHAT ON EARTH IS JONATHAN DOING WHILE THE COUNTRY FALLS APART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. people need to turn to Jesus.
