CultureRe: The Arab Origin Of The Yorubas by tpia5: 11:35pm On Nov 19, 2013
^ my point was you dont respond to any such threads with the same vehemence you're using now, why would you accept the ijebu account of migration from sudan, but want to fight the same possibility when you see it elsewhere?
Christianity EtcRe: Pastor Adeboye Runs To Obasanjo …as Junior Pastors Demand His Resignation by tpia5: 11:33pm On Nov 19, 2013
sounds like fake news.

i dont think an excuse is needed to see obasanjo, what exactly concerns the public?
PoliticsRe: How Can I Get Into Politics In Nigeria by tpia5: 11:29pm On Nov 19, 2013
i'm not into politics but i think if you're from a political family (ie a family already known for politics), have enough stamina, are outspoken on issues you feel passionately about, have a "strong mind", and can match your adversaries point for point without being intimidated by whatever is in their arsenal, then you might as well head into the nigerian political arena (either by appointment or election) because you've shown you've got what it takes.

last but not least, of course money is needed.
FamilyRe: A Mother's Dilemma In An Rccg Creche by tpia5: 11:23pm On Nov 19, 2013
WFE: @OP - is this about the creche or the church? Is your intention to gather stones for people whose favourite pass time is throwing stones at anything remotely associated with God.

There are 'millions' of creches all over the world with the same issues, you could have made your point without the 'church controversy'.
what would be even better is if she finds time to drop in and check on her child regularly while its at the creche.

third or fourth time's the charm.

Economics or economy section is also needed, to study and discuss the economy sector/s.

Not sure what category it would fall under.

Virgin Finder: How?

Can an Igbo guy contend with a Yoruba guy for a Yoruba lady without getting heartbroken?
i think your imagination is overactive.

No Yoruba lady takes an Igbo guy as first/preferred choice for marriage.
its her family who might not agree to her bringing an Igbo guy for marriage.

Katsumoto: Tunisia is in North Africa and the presence of Islam in one country/region doesn't automatically mean its presence in other parts. There was Islam in Bornu, why was there no Islam in the Eastern part of Nigeria?
well, i am just guessing here, like i said, i could be wrong.

however, i believe there was some contact between north and west africa in ancient centuries.
The most fanatic are the recent converts. remember that.
how does this contradict my post?
CultureRe: A Short History Of Yorubaland With Pictures by tpia5: 6:46pm On Nov 19, 2013
and my post was that islam was not there since islams inception. it is impossible.

thats my point.
i just pointed out muslims built a mosque in tunisia in 670 AD.

So how is it impossible there were some muslims in west africa in the seventh and eighth centuries?

they may just have not been widespread.

islam truly came to Yorubaland only with the Fulani jihad.

Yorubaland was 100% Pagan till then.
incorrect.
CultureRe: A Short History Of Yorubaland With Pictures by tpia5: 6:43pm On Nov 19, 2013
i havent seen anything to suggest Islam was in Yorubaland before then.

CultureRe: A Short History Of Yorubaland With Pictures by tpia5: 6:39pm On Nov 19, 2013
conversion of the rulers perhaps.

i havent seen anything to suggest Islam was not in Yorubaland before then.

of course i could be wrong?

however, the way yorubas practice Islam suggests a very strong affinity with the religion which would seem to predate the modern conversion most people refer to.

its like italians and catholicism.
CultureRe: A Short History Of Yorubaland With Pictures by tpia5: 6:31pm On Nov 19, 2013
well, my post was, Islam may have been in Yorubaland right from it [Islam]'s inception.

not sure what you interpreted that to mean.

a mosque in tunisia was built in 670 AD, shows muslims were present there and beginning to be active by that time.
CelebritiesRe: Jude Okoye, Others Unhappy With Peter's Marriage by tpia5: 6:28pm On Nov 19, 2013
Virgin Finder: I've always known that Yoruba ladies getting married to Igbo men have is almost never a perfect match.
The Igbo man is almost always at the receiving end.
Either the Yoruba lady is older, a single mum, plain or overripe for marriage with no fellow Yoruba proposing.
Its the other way round.
CultureRe: A Short History Of Yorubaland With Pictures by tpia5: 6:18pm On Nov 19, 2013
i dont know why you're panicking as if you never heard that before.

kanem officially converted to Islam in the 11th century, it doesnt mean there were no muslims there before then.

do me was released in 2007, according to wiki.

thats not early 20s.
CultureRe: A Short History Of Yorubaland With Pictures by tpia5: 5:43pm On Nov 19, 2013
its quite possible Islam has been in Yorubaland since it (Islam)'s inception.

No one can really pinpoint how or when Islam entered Yorubaland anyway, all most people know of is Ilorin which was conquered by the Fulani at the request of their Yoruba allies.

only a crazy person in need of medication would even post such a title or do what it describes anyway.

True.
CultureRe: The Arab Origin Of The Yorubas by tpia5: 4:27pm On Nov 19, 2013
9jacrip: Right.
I've always said it is another subtle way of proselytizing people.
If you agree to have migrated from the hub of a particular religion, it is only right to want to affiliate or have affinity for whatever religion emanates from there.

It is a shame how people, in a bid to spread religion have distorted history.
I dont see you arguing with the ijebu/sudanic origin myth though, so why is it so unpalatable for you to consider other myths from elsewhere?

What kind of story is this?

I dont know why people like giving the impression nigeria is a jungle.

Wasnt it kulyie who threw a hissy fit because she said she wore bikini to a function and i asked her to be patient with a couple she was lambasting for not being in bikini?

Ok, when you wear your bikini, do men not tap your butt, or what kind of carrot and stick approach is this?

Why would you tantalize the men and then beat them up when they respond? A simple verbal tongue lashing wont do?

Is this your way of telling us you can only marry a soldier or what?

Lord have mercy o, is this tales by moonlight or what kinds of amazons are roaming the earth these days.

CelebritiesRe: Jude Okoye, Others Unhappy With Peter's Marriage by tpia5: 4:01pm On Nov 19, 2013
50calibre: There's no smoke without fire, rumours like this don't just magically spring forth, there must be a reliable source somewhere talking.

I thought there was something amiss with the wedding, the Igbos are known for turning out en masse to support their relative on occasions like this but out of all the pics circulating, I couldn't see anyone with family members, even his twin brother was conspicuously missing from the group pics, there's something there.

The family & maybe kinsmen aren't too happy that their illustrious son couldn't pick a wife from the very large pool of Igbo girls.
The older brother is single and a bachelor.

They should just find him a lady and bring her to him since he's still dragging his feet.
