The purpose of conversion is not to break up of the family. A person converts because they are convinced about a way of life. This would many times lead to the break up of the home. It does not mean she will not have a say in the lives of her children.

In Islam, a muslim woman is not supposed to marry a non-muslim and a muslim man can only marry a
jew or christian.

Ostensibly, the purpose of conversion may not be to break up a family, nobody is of course going to admit that.

If a woman converts and feels her only option is to leave her family in order to embrace her new religion, then thats her decision, the fact still remains she abandoned her family nonetheless. Her convictions will not erase that.

People have different reasons for such scenarios- for some it could be spousal abuse, mental illness, family trait, generational curse, etc, in her own case it would be religious conviction.

As per your question, unless the purpose of the conversion was to break up the family in your examples, it does not look good on any religion when a woman or man abandons the kids because she says she found a new religion therefore her family are infidels to her.
