Food › Re: Unsure About This Voucher. by tpiah: 11:17am On Aug 10, 2010
rather confusing.

(if) two people spend more than £20 in total
this sounds correct.

Not in conjunction with any other offer, promotion, set menu
this may mean you can only use one voucher per table though i'm not sure.

another clause:

Management reserves the right to refuse custom and/or this voucher and to withdraw/change offers (without notice)
you can probably call the restaurant and check with the manager beforehand.

some people, when they hear that phrase "eko o ni baje", it just triggers something in their brain and sends them into a frenzy.

especially when they know the opposite holds in their hometowns.

bad belle is the bane of nigerians.

some people will use their own jealousy to better develop their place, while others do nothing but gripe and whine in some kind of self-defeating narcissistic and paranoid funk.

Yes, flooding happens everywhere, not sure the journalist and Lagos resident are trying to refute that.

People are trying to address the issue of Lagos' drainage system and you're throwing up evidence of flooding across the globe?

Is that supposed to the appease resident's mind? That it also occurs somewhere else in the globe?

Ok oh.[/quote]once again, i guess i have to point out the fact that lagos is a coastal city in a tropical country noted for heavy rains.

you feel a drainage system will totally eradicate flooding during the rainy season, right?

i guess you're thinking of moses parting the red sea/stopping the flow of water or something. Complaining because you didnt see a miracle.

but it doesnt occur to you to consider the issues of overcrowding and the architecture of the area.

PhysicsQED:
Keep fooling yourself with wikipedia quotes and nonsensical reasoning. There isn't a single f.ucking thing about Lagos that's special. Much of it is a dump and is has no cultural significance to anybody. It's entire reason for prominence are a combination of geographical and historical factors (Benin monarchs founding it, and later its prominence in the slave trade), nothing to do with Aworis or any other Yorubas making it into some great city. Some Benin people turned it from a fishing village to a significant city, some Yorubas made it into a slave trading hub, and it has no other importance.

Even debating with someone who hasn't bothered to read any Benin history, but relies on wikipedia, of all things, is pointless.

Some runaway Benin people influenced the founding of Onitsha, and lo and behold, there is a monarchy in Onitsha (Obi of Onitsha) (Obviously there are other monarchies in Igboland, but this one was a little more prominent than most of the others)

Some Benin prince went to Warri and lo and behold, there is a monarchy in Warri (Olu of Itsekiri/Olu of Warri).

Some Benin monarch went to Lagos, but simpletons would have us believe that they simply went there to fish and mate with the natives, who were the true builders of the city into an important commercial center. Pure nonsense. You obviously know nothing about just how imperialistic Benin was and why they were so successful. For a rudimentary introduction, mull over this:

http://deposit.ddb.de/cgi-bin/dokserv?idn=964084686&dok_var=d1&dok_ext=pdf&filename=964084686.pdf

There are many many other books, if you're interested. Or you can remain ignorant, and dream that a tiny Yoruba fishing village became Lagos simply because the Yoruba fishermen spontaneously decided to build a real city.
like i said, keep fooling yourself with fictional write ups.

there's a lot of that going round these days, because most of you feel you need to "one up" the yoruba and present yourselves somehow to outsiders.

as per your wild allegations of lagos being developed by benin- you must have skipped the parts where i categorically stated lagos became important due to it's location as one of the major slave markets on the guinea coast vis a vis the portuguese.

yorubas are an urban people. Is lagos the only large city in the southwest?

see something:

honeric01:
Na Una know, the set of Yoruba people that do call other tribes Ibo when they realized they can speak Yoruba are the old Yoruba men and women, i was once called an Ibo guy, felt angry and wanted to lash on that woman, lol because she was so bad annoying when she even pronounced the so call Ibo, too bad it sucks,   and for some people's information, it is Ibo not Igbo ok?
honeric01:
It's Ibo not Igbo, let everyone go and make research, stop following the crowd ok? well the Edo's are not from the descendant of Oduduwa, the Edo descendant is actually the first child of Oduduwa not the last child so go and study very well and then come and prove me wrong
