we have another case now where someone opened a thread to accuse a fruit seller of washing his fruits in an open gutter.


He or she posted an ambiguous picture to buttress his or her claim.


Suggestions on that thread included

- always wash any fruit you buy regardless of the origin of the seller.

imo, always wash fruit (especially in a tropical country), even if you picked it with your own hands.

recently, someone posted a picture of a boy drinking dirty water from a puddle (his country of origin was not mentioned).

There were many responses on the thread, including mine. I posted two things which were supposed to be applied in such a situation, one was

- add alum to the water and it to settle before drinking it

secondly,

- scoop up the water into a container, boil it to get rid of the germs then drink after cooling.

I was surprised by two responses I got, I was hailed for both suggestions as if I had landed on the moon.

I assumed it was sarcasm, but I wasn't sure.

I would like to ask, is information like this no longer disseminated in Nigeria?
