Ahhhh, New York! Imagine me selling a car to such a hulking brute without a Desert Eagle, Safety-off, at the ready; impossible! Why take him to your house? Why didn't Akeem have witnesses to the sale? Gawd, this is NY we're talking about! Well, I hope he recovers.
true talk.

buzugee:
i am going on what i have read from different sources. ok here i go

this dude is a car thief who steals high end bmws for those garages that chop it up and wipe out the VIN and then make it appear like another car. hence he does not have to be confrontational to steal those cars. all he has to do is, under the cover of darkness, break into a high end bmw and then drive it to the 'chop shop'. maybe for a 70 grand bmw he gets like 3 grand cash for his efforts.

then dude decides he wants a bmw for himself. not for the chop shop. this will be his own personal ride. so he goes on craigslist. sees someone tryna sell a high end bmw. meets up with the person. kills the person (or so he thought) after coercing him to sign the car over to him (hence the cut ear. this was part of the torture to get akeem to sign the car over). well after the car has been signed over to the bmw thief. all he has to do is to kill akeem and dispose of his body and he is home free. akeem is nowhere to be found and this thief has a brand new bmw in his own name. i guess thangs didnt work out how he planned it huh ? he thought he had killed akeem, was on his way to dump the body when he got into a fender bender ( i believe this fender bender was initiated by God. HE STILL HAS A PURPOSE FOR AKEEM) the police spot him and give chase. he escapes. they see akeem in the boot. et c etc etc
very likely, i guess.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Have Ever Been Hypnotised Or Swindled In Nigeria? Please Share Your Experience. by tpiah2: 8:04pm On Jan 30, 2011
and it continues:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1351954/Mother-conned-80-000-swindlers-posing-American-soldier-internet-dating-site.html

A mother-of-three was forced to sell her home after being conned out of £80,000 by fraudsters posing as an American solider on a dating website.

Kate, who is divorced, said: 'Aside from losing the money I feel like I've lost the love of my life.
'I know he wasn't real but the feelings were real to me and that's very difficult to come to terms with.
After making a large payment, contact suddenly stopped and it was then that alarm bells began to ring.
She eventually contacted the police and her phone company traced phone calls from 'Mark' to a mobile phone in Nigeria.
The fraudsters posted pictures of a good-looking soldier in uniform to Mark's profile as well as some half-naked poses.

After charming Kate and promising to buy a house together he started begging her to help him buy himself out of the Army.

In one email dated October 27, 2009 he wrote: 'I have been talking about you all night to all my friends.

'I think I am driving them mad but i cant help being madly in love with you, its like I am floating on a cloud and dreaming i just hope i don't wake up to find it was all a dream or I will be gutted.'

i dont know why some are tripping over the fact that gej is a philanderer with multiple kids from multiple women outside the home.

arent these the same ones who will fight to the death for polygamy and concubinage.

so what's the problem if gej slept with the women you provided for him to sleep with?

plz explain because i dont get this double standard.

obj also had multiple wives and had only stella as his first lady, likewise other presidents, so why all the screaming as if it's a strange thing in nigeria.

^^what about the owners of the other two bmws he stole.

there's no evidence he harmed them.

and those cars were more expensive than this one.

and no, akeem doesnt seem to have fought at all, come to think of it. They'd already drawn up a bill of sale with the attacker's name on it.

the viciousness of the attack warrants investigation.

if the attacker had a history of car theft, and not attempted murder, then what was his reason for attacking the victim so viciously? huh

why didnt he just steal the car and drive away?

what happened to the owners of the other cars he stole- i assume they werent hurt or he'd have been booked for that in addition to stealing.

let's assume Sanusi has good intentions and isnt trying to introduce sharia, but his modus operandi doesnt have to be so harsh.

Buhari had notable ideas in his own time, but his way of implementing them was what got him and Idiagbon in so much hot soup.

In Nigeria and Africa, outrightly totalitarian methods earns you more underground enemies than otherwise.
LiteratureRe: Which Books/Novels Are You Currently Reading? by tpiah2: 5:34am On Aug 17, 2009
Tatase:
Hmmm. . . I guess that could have happened. It's just as far-fetched as the sequel that did get written. I hated Ashley from the start, he's the kind of weakling coward that will wait for the cover of darkness to form a KKK-type institution. He and Scarlett would never work out, she would totally be the man in that relationship.

I think what made me really sad at the end of GWTW is that I feel like Rhett had totally given up on Scarlett like he would never go back to her and their story together was over, and as sad as that is, you the reader kind of understand because it just felt like too much had happened and to many awful things said and done (esp. by Scarelett) and you couldn't really see a way for them to overcome that.
Ashley is just a weird kind of person- he annoyed me with the way he refused to admit his love for Melanie and kept playing with Scarlett's feelings even though he couldnt respect her. Though Scarlett is so daft when it comes to love sha. In other things too: "She thought hard but couldnt remember any family in the neighborhood with the name Borgia" grin

Funny how they were all at cross purposes and everything started unwinding as soon as Melanie fell sick- all their previous aims and goals just seemed finally seemed so empty to them.

I do feel Rhett shouldnt have taken it so hard when she said she didnt want him touching her anymore. Surely he knew her better than that- I was quite disappointed.

sorry I'm going on and on- the book just made me so reflective. Scarlett is one of the most flawed heroines in history but also very brave regardless.

I just checked reviews on two other sequels to the book and none still matches GWTW. oh well. I havent read them but maybe one of these days.

The Winds of Tara (unauthorized sequel) and Rhett Butler's People.
LiteratureRe: Which Books/Novels Are You Currently Reading? by tpiah2: 4:43am On Aug 17, 2009

I agree. I love Gone With The Wind. I remember getting so into it, I read it under the table in SS2 during classes. I like a happy ending though, so I'm really happy the other woman (Alexandra Ripley) wrote the sequel (Scarlett) which though not as good as the original, at least leaves you satisfied like there's a conclusion.
true.

The sequel doesnt come close to the original but one has to make do with it, I guess. Gone with the Wind took the author ten years to write, I heard, so its hard trying to match that. undecided

After this particular rereading, I feel Scarlett either impulsively married Ashley, (she always marries someone when she's desperate), returned to Tara and hooked up with someone else, moved north after a while and "became" a Yankee,(probably meeting Rhett or someone like him there) or any number of alternate endings. She was only twenty eight, for crying out loud. undecided

Rhett did say he'd be checking on her every once in while to keep up the appearance of marriage, so all hope isnt actually lost.

She could also go back to New Orleans where she had her honeymoon, since they'd been so happy there and the place held nostalgic/sad memories for Rhett. That's the one region where he was always sober, I think.
