PRESIDENTIAL MEDIA CHAT

QUESTION : (by Mr Ibanga of Premium Times):MR president, the DSS under your watch has consistently disobeyed court orders. Dansuki has had 3 court orders asking for his release. And Nnamdi Kanu. And many other cases. Court orders which your DSS has not obeyed

ANSWER : (by Buhari on national TV) :How can they be released? Do you know that Kanu has passports of 2 different countries? Do you know the billions that Dansuki stole? And you are talking of court order for release. I hope the judges are watching this!

ME :Buhari is now the accuser and the judge. He has already convicted his victims. He openly approves the disobedience of court orders, and dares the court openly. And who told him that it is a crime to have the citizenship (passport) of two countries?

What is wrong is wrong.

Stealing is stealing.

Dasuki's crime has made so many peoples lose their lives. A judge is human who is prone to errors

But the divine law (God's law) which is superior to man's is perfect.

'Thou shall not not steal' - the tenth commandment.

If evidence against Dasuki is true then he should prosecuted irrespective of what the judge says.

We can't allow injustice to prevail over justice or mans law prevail over Gods law.

As for Kanu, he is inciting violence and disorder by called for armed struggle for selfish reason is question.

If his wishes comes true, thousands of innocent lives will be lost, the country will be divided and people will live in fear.

His goal is a threat to Nigeria and Nigerians.

His supporters and selfish and disgrunted.

I question buhari and I love the Igbos but I don't any man should threaten the peace of our country.

Yes they are differences and challenges but this is still our country, it's where we call home.

Any one that has an ethnic agenda (Kanu) or religious Agenda (boko haram, Shiite ) that threatens the peaceful coexistence of the various tribes should be apprehended and prosecuted justly.

Some people predicted the disintegration of this country in 2015. It's the last day of the day and we still here as Yoruba, Igbos and Hausa....our republic (Nigeria) is what we want it to be but the burden to make it right is on us, so we can leave a legacy for our kids to follow.

God bless The Igbos, Yorubas, Hausas and all other tribes in our republic.

Politics / Re: Before Vice President Osinbajo, The Workaholic, Breaks Down by tplacid: 7:53pm On Dec 07, 2015
joedrae:
Olalekan Adetayo: Before vice president Osinbajo, the workaholic, breaks down

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is no doubt hard working. He looks very energetic. Even his stature speaks volume of him. He carries that frame swiftly any time he is trekking from his end of the Villa to the President’s office and he does that very often. He shares that stature with the likes of Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of

Kaduna State and probably Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State. Without sounding immodest, I also belong to their association. El-Rufai has whispered to me and some other colleagues belonging to that group that the Vice President is our patron. I won’t disclose the name of the association, but by our stature, you shall know us.

I am not a medical doctor but having watched activities in the Villa closely since he and President Muhammadu Buhari moved into the seat of power, I will advise that Osinbajo should slow down. His activities so far have not left anybody in doubt that he is a workaholic. He resumes very early in the morning and remains in his office till late in the night almost daily.

Osinbajo has been going round the states of the federation from the North to the South on behalf of his boss. There are times he makes two or three states in a day! He has also made many foreign trips on behalf of the President. His attitude to work has become a subject of discussions, though in hushed tones, among members of his staff, most of who believe that they are being overstretched.

For instance, a day to the opening of the presidential retreat organised for ministers last month, I was reliably informed that the Senior Advocate of Nigeria was in his office till about 2am preparing the paper he presented at the event. This notwithstanding, Osinbajo arrived the venue with the President at exactly 9am. I wonder whether he slept at all.

As if that is not enough, Osinbajo sat through the programme while Buhari left shortly after declaring the event open. The Vice President returned to his office after the event and started treating files that he could not treat while at the venue. By 9am the following day, he was already in the old Banquet Hall venue to preside over the activities of the second day.

Penultimate Wednesday, he was in Ikenne, Ogun State where he hosted the President and other well-meaning Nigerians at the burial of the matriarch of the Awolowo family, Chief HID Awolowo. He played a leading role in the burial because his wife, Dolapo, is a grand-daughter of the deceased

Surprisingly however, Osinbajo was again on hand later in the day when Buhari hosted Senators to a presidential dinner at the new Banquet Hall. He had managed to freshen up and change his clothe before attending the event. Many of his close aides were looking very tired. “The work must be done” was the reply of one of them when I told him that I did not expect that Osinbajo would attend the event.

On Tuesday, he started his activities by taking part in the 2015 National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Summit held inside the Villa. Shortly after that, he played host to a delegation of Global Good Fund co-founded by Bill Gates in his conference room. While those guests were still finding their way out after the meeting, Osinbajo’s convoy was already leaving the Villa. He left for Yenagoa, Bayelsa State where he represented Buhari at the grand finale of the campaign of the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Timipreye Sylvia. Another task that the Vice President has been carrying out dutifully is that he has always been on hand at the airport to receive his boss whenever he is returning from any foreign trip.

One other thing that has been glaring since he took over is that the Vice President, who is a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has also ensured that state duties do not affect his spiritual life. He still attends the monthly vigil that holds in the church’s camp located on the popular Lagos-Ibadan Expressway every first Friday of the month. His workers even told me that he still attends evening services such as Bible Study (Digging Deep as it is called in RCCG) and Prayer Meetings in one of the parishes in Abuja and still return to his office late in the night to continue work.

Don’t get me wrong. I am not in any way suggesting that Osinbajo should abandon state duties. Far from it. I am also not suggesting that he should jettison his God. I am only advising that the Vice President must avoid breaking down. I know that as a religious person, if he is reading this, he may be uttering words such as “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me” or “I shall not die but live, to declare the glory of God in the land of the living.” Let me make it clear that I am not wishing him any evil before he will scream “Back to sender!”

There are claims that many top government officials take some forms of performance-induced drugs or drinks to keep them going when work becomes tough. Because of his religious background however, I don’t see Osinbajo indulging in such. Rather, I see him relying on “the grace of God.” He should therefore not stretch the grace beyond limit. Nigeria cannot afford any sick leader for now, judging from our recent past. My candid advice please.

This is what selfless leadership is all about. We need people who are up to the challenge, super humans if I must say(just kidding)

But the truth is we need leaders who will sacrifice their sleep, health and finances (if need be) just so our country can be better for us and our kids. at the end of the day it's what 'selfless leadership' is all about.

How can I sleep if Nigerians are awake (because of insecurity)
How can I be rich if Nigerians are poor
How can I be healthy if Nigerians are sick
How can I be happy if Nigerians are sad
How can live when Nigerians die in numbers
-Al-Hassan (future Nigerian president)

Very soon, the hunter will be the hunted. From Buhari to IBB to Adamu Ciroma to Senator Ndume, all will hear from God soon.undecided

I can understand If he says northenr elite created boko haram directly or indirectly.

But it's not acceptable if he says bh are Muslims and its quite simple.

Being a Muslim means you submit to the will of Allah and not that of man, hence it follows that you should not kill any innocent soul, 'he that kills a man is like he has killed the whole of humanity, he that saves a man is like he has saved the whole of humanity - Qu'ran

I can't convince anybody that Islam is a peaceful religion, but it's everyone's responsibility to differentiente between what's good and what's bad.

Adolf hitler killed millions of people I don't see anyone calling Christianity a terrorist religion.

Millions of people died during the slave trade that was carried out by British and American But we Muslims no Jesus doesn't stand for oppression

Lastly, most of these clerics that condemn the actions of terrorist that hide under the umbrella of religion never condemn the obvious terrorist act of Israel against Palestinians...it's so bad that most Christian display the flag of Israel on cars, in their house just to show surpport for a nation that invaded another nation unlawfully.

If you condemn BH, ISIS etc you support you Israel then know that someday the world will end and trust me the true one God will judge you accordingly.

Libya, Palentian, Iraq, Afghanistan and so many other Muslims countries and unstable because of the actions of terrorist yet people still think Muslims are terrorist

How can you be the killer and the victim at the same time.

I just hate when people are too sentimental.

It was reported that Fashola's regime generated over 2 trillion naira for 8 years, look around Lagos and tell me that the money generated within that period reflects on Lagos' infrastructural deficiency.

Education / Re: The Role Of Nigerian Students In Creating A New Nigeria by tplacid: 4:53pm On May 20, 2015
epelumi42:

Over the years, Nigeria has undergone several reforms in making it a better country, but it seems to get worse by the day. The notion of a new Nigeria is not about breaking it down like the biblical temple, but a revived, refreshed, reinvigorated, reorganized, refined, and reordered Nigeria. A new Nigeria is not an inexperienced or unaccustomed country but a reliable, self-sufficient and developed country -- a Nigeria we can all be proud of. Every citizen of Nigeria, men and women, the young and old hold the key to a successful redevelopment as it is said, 'every part of a tree contributes to its existence'. This essay seeks to focus on the role of Nigeria students (being educated at one citadel of learning or the other) in the creation of a new and better Nigeria.

The first step in creating a new Nigeria is creating a revived spirit in students -- an optimistic mind that believes Nigeria can actually get better. Like the popular saw, 'Rome was not built in a day', The process of recreation is definitely not a day's job and every student needs to understand this fact. The revival process won't come as a miracle, but one of cutting, recutting and sowing a cloth to bring forth a beautiful product. They need to renew their faith in Nigeria, that the dilapidated can be rebuilt, the wastelands can still be productive, that water can come out of the barren land and a good thing can actually come from Nazareth.

Nigerian students need to understand the essence of self-empowerment and sufficiency. Of the crisis facing Nigeria today, unemployment stands as a major thorn in the flesh as thousands of school graduates are out searching for jobs. It is no longer news, that the available jobs are not enough and is therefore a battle among the fittest. To solve this situation, it is important that students strive for excellence to become employable and rather than rely on getting a job after school, they should take initiatives and work on building successful businesses which will in turn create jobs for others. Innovativeness together with vision is very essential, and requires that they think out of the box, planning extensively ahead, rather than live only for the present.

A new Nigeria means a safer Nigeria, a country where people can live in freedom and absolute peace of mind. To build that nation, students must shun all acts of cultism, thuggery, hooliganism and other forms of unruly and violent behaviours. Nigerian students must adopt a dialogical rather than diabolical approach when it comes to solving problems. It is said 'violence beget violence', which is why the destruction of lives and properties during protest will do more harm than good in developing a safe and habitable country and must be shunned at all cost. If Nigeria is ever going to get better, students must live as responsible and law-abiding citizens. By joining voluntary organizations and aiding in community service and development, helping to enforce law, order and cleanliness, Nigeria is on its way to becoming a greater nation.

Building a corrupt-free country, one with integrity is a responsibility of every students. A bad reputation corruption has been for our dear country, a result of desperate individuals who want to make money and wealth through all nooks, crannies and selfish interests. Fraud, bribery, and all forms of examination malpractices must be avoided at all cost and understand that good success and wealth never come easy but a result of hard work, preparation, patience, perseverance, and prayer. It may be tough to succeed, but it is definitely not impossible as Nigeria is blessed with enough resources to aid in the conquest.

The new Nigeria of our dreams is one without corruption,
A country where the young and old can live in peace with other,
A country where the children of the poor will no longer live on the food crumbles of the rich,
A country where its citizens strive for excellence in all,
A country where poverty and unemployment will be of the past,
A country where all the tribes and states will support each other in harmony,
A country where the leaders have the love of the people at heart,
That is the the Nigeria of our dreams.

This doesn't mean Yorubas and Hausas don't have their strengths too but there is something VERY unique about the Igbos.

Politics / Diversity For Development In Lagos by tplacid: 5:35pm On Jan 18, 2015
Lagos with a population of over 9 million people is said to have the most robust economy amongst the 36 states in Nigeria. With a GDP of over $36billion in 2007 and an increasing urban migration, Lagos state’s economic potential has not been peaked for various reasons, but for the purpose of this thread, I will focus on diversity as one of the ways in which Lagos can reach its potential to be an economic giant amongst major cities of the world.
Diversity simply means enjoining a group of people from different cultural, racial, tribal or religious background to achieve a particular purpose. This gives room for creativity and innovation.
The economic growth Lagos has achieved so far is as result of the contributions non-natives(i.e Igbos, Hausas, Efiks, Calabars and Yorubas that are not natives of Lagos) of Lagos over the years, what this simply means is that Lagos wouldn’t have achieved its economic status if only the natives of Lagos were the only contributors to Lagos economy.

I am not a psychologist but my intuition tells me that the tribe, culture and religion an individual practises will go a long way in determining his mental, physical, social and spiritual development. Hence, all the different tribes we have in Lagos through their different traits as a result of their diverse bacground has contributed to the development of Lagos financially, socially, economically and otherwise.
The Yorubas have a natural flare for education, it isn’t a coincidence that some of the best universities in Nigeria (i.e University of Ibadan, University of Ife, University of Lagos, Convenant University, Redeemers University etc) are located in the south west. Yoruba students constitute over 60% of the population in the aforementioned universities and over 90% of those students choose Lagos as a destination to get a job creating a job market that both foreign and ingenious firms benefits from. Hence, Lagos generate revenue through personal income tax from these employees which are mostly Yorubas who are the predominant tribe in Nigeria.

The Igbos have natural business intelligence which makes them entrepreneurs by nature. An average Igbo man is a business man which is why they can been seen all over Lagos with a good success rate in any business of interest, through these businesses they have been able to create employment for so many people which in turn generates revenue for Lagos. There is a debate amongst Lagosians as to whicn tribe is predominant in Lagos between the Igbos and the Yorubas because of the Igbo population in Lagos. The reality is that Igbos keep migrating to Lagos in droves to explore the business opportunity that abound therein.

Because of the large population of Lagos, the Hausas through their ground breaking and enviable agricultural techniques have succeeded in supplying Lagosians with fresh food crops from the north, over 80% of what Lagosians eats comes from the north and this is brought in by the Hausas. It is a known fact that northern Nigeria has the most fertile and arable lands, hence the northerners that supplies Lagos have been able to devise a means to meet the increasing food demands of Lagosians over the years.

All of the outlined traits of the tribes listed above does mean one tribe is better than the other and the it does necessarily mean that a particular tribe is better at attributed indicators(i.e Education, Business and Agriculture) than the other, the yorubas’ flare for education does mean they are better educated than the Igbos and Hausas and the Igbos’ business acumen does mean Hausas are lack business knowledge( Dangote is the richest Nigerian and he is Hausa). The outlined traits just shows that majority of members of a tribe are well known for something than the others.

For Lagos to reach its potential, a diversity policy should be created to identity core traits of all the major and minor tribes that contribute to the development of Lagos and create framework that will allow members of all these tribes excel In their area interest.
Fashola put it succinctly when he said “This is a mini – Nigeria. Everyone Is in Lagos, every ethnic group. But we have to use the power of that migrant culture to strengthen our position”

May God bless our Lagos and all the different tribes that have come to contribute to the economic development of Lagos and have also chosen to make Lagos their home……Ameen.

Politics / Fashola Gives Assent To N489.69bn 2015 Budget by tplacid: 4:51pm On Jan 12, 2015
Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos on Sunday signed the state 2015 budget of N489.69 into law setting the stage for implementation.
The budget, the last Fashola will supervise in the state, will, however, be implemented half-way by his administration that will wind down on May 29 this year.
The 2015 budget is made up of capital expenditure of N249.7419 billion and a recurrent expenditure of N239.948 billion in the ratio of 51:49, respectively. The budget size of N489.69 billion is same as that of 2014 but a slight modification in terms of capital to recurrent expenditure ratio. In 2014, the capital/recurrent ratio was 52:48 whereas this year’s the capital/recurrent ratio is 51:49.
A breakdown of the budget showed that economic affairs has the highest allocation of N146.305 billion, followed by general service, N107.69 billion; education, N82.14 billion; housing and community amenities, N49.033 billion; health, N44.619 billion and environmental protection, N34.953 billion.
Others are public safety and order, N15.547 billion; recreation, culture and religion, N3.118 billion; social protection, N1.589 billion; planning reserve, N2.26 billion and contingency, N2.448 billion.
Unlike previous budgets of the last seven years, the 2015 was signed by Fashola in his official residence at Marina and on a Sunday, a non-official working day. Explaining this, Fashola said the signing had been scheduled for today, but that he had to call it forward to enable him attend a national meeting fixed for tomorrow in Abuja by the All Progressives Congress (APC), so that ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) could continue with work while he is in Abuja.
“We are a government that is open to plan, part of the planning is for government to set the budget for the beginning of the year. Lagos is the second state to sign the document after Ogun State, which is also an APC state. When we presented the budget, there were financial challenges but as you know, our revenue has been based largely on our common contribution; that is how we build our common wealth here.
“We need to be innovative, inventive and hard-working and that is what we have given in the last eight years and we won’t give anything less with the support of the people of Lagos. They are owners of this government and all of its service delivery programmes and I think as difficult and challenging as the revenue issue may be, we will consolidate and finish as many possible projects as we can,” he said.
While there is an increase in recurrent expenditure and a slight decrease in capital expenditure, compared to the 2014 budget, the state government is going to spend more money in settling contractors’ liabilities, which the governor ascribed to in his budget presentation.
Also, Fashola’s budget is maintaining zero deficit in order to ensure that the next government does not inherit a deficit. According to Fashola, this would give incoming administration room to start off very quickly when their programmes began to crystallise and might need to raise funds in order to start off.
Ben Akabueze, commissioner for economic planning and budget, said the oil fall in the international market had been factored into the budget and hoped that the price would rise as the year progressed.
He explained that over 70 percent of the state’s budget was sourced through internally generated revenue (IGR) as much of the oil fall impact would not affect the budget sharply.

Politics / Song Of Nigeria - A Poem Written By Shehu Shagari by tplacid: 3:37pm On Dec 08, 2014
Hi Nairalanders, I saw an old book my dad bought years ago written by Shehu Shagari (My Vision for Nigeria), after opening the book to do a quick scan I read a poem written by the great leader. And I felt I should it with you;
Lord we beseech your help
To guard us from the iniquities of the world

Let our country grow and be known
All over this broad earth

Let everyone prosper in it
Without fear and without persecution

Help our land find honour
Place her on the path of truth

Help her develop and become renowned
Let her be an example to Africa

Let her prosper, let there be wealth
Everywhere in Nigeria

And thank God
That he placed us among the people of Nigeria – Shehu Shagari

After reading it I felt a kind of renewed hope, a sense of purpose, the need to act, to be aware, to believe and have faith that our fallen heroes never gave up, they fought (intellectually) to the end.

When we recite the national anthem, there is a part that says

May the labour of our heroes past not be in vain

Our heroes are have gone to the great beyond, but we can carry on from where they stopped, all we need to do is to believe.

Yes this country is a mess, corruption, nepotism, insecurity, insurgency, tribalism etc are growing by the day, but if we just believe and hope that we can make a change then we can act based on that and we move this country forward so we won’t burden our kids with this mess.

Running to other lands may give temporary comfort, but the truth is no matter how long you stay there they will never treat you as part of their own and you can’t change the fact that you are Nigerian

Besides, a lot of Nigerians are doing great home and abroad, a Nigerian boy became the 2nd in a National competition in the UK in mathematics, another Nigerian student became the first African to have first class in Law in a University in Reading……..I can go on and on about great Nigerians (both young and old, at home or abroad) doing great things, it is in these Nigerians that we must find hope, inspiration, followership, leadership and greatness.

I don’t know about you but as for me

I pledge to Nigeria my country
To be faithful Loyal and Honest
To defend her unity
To uphold her honour and glory
So help me God
Ameen

God bless Nigerians, God bless Africans and the rest of humanity.

Politics / Re: How Lagos Spent N160 Bn World Bank Loan – Fashola by tplacid: 12:32pm On Oct 20, 2014
Summary: Fashola borrowed N160 billion for installing streetlights in SOME locations in Lagos.
Deduction: The internally generated revenue of over N20 billion monthly in Lagos is not sufficient enough to fund installation of streetlights in SOME locations in Lagos.

We need to realise that they are all one and the same, Fashola or GEJ, Buhari or OBJ, APC and PDP members, just a group of individuals that can't move us forward as people.

The change we need is almost here, I can feel it, I can see it, all that we require is a little more patience, hope and holding strongly to the rope of God.

Islam for Muslims / A Ramadan Message From David Cameron by tplacid: 12:04pm On Jul 09, 2014
Dear all, I would recommend that you watch this message from David Cameron to all Muslims during this month. Whilst watching this video I must confess that I felt really touched and impressed that a Christian is acknowledging the efforts on Muslims, this can be heard when he said 'Muslims are the biggest donors in the UK'.

A time will come when we will truly understand each other irrespective of tribe, race, religion or culture. We all come from God and we all are sons and daughters of Adam and Eve. Enjoy the video.

May Allah(SWT) purify the heart of David Cameron and draw him to Islam.....Amin
