But the effect and societal perception of weed addiction is worse.
I don't want to be out of touch with reality, like what weed addiction brings.

You of all people should know that list is either fake or not in naira.
There is no way Armand de brignac that cost less than 100k on a regular would sell for 6m naira, not even in Hilton or Polo club or Intercontinental.
Also I am not a megalomaniac,I have drinks at home that I drink, hardly will I go to a club or so to buy drinks for 2 times the price just to show off.

You are more Daft than I thought too..
Do we produce cars in this country ....

If dollar is available, companies that import raw materials for production will do so and sell to the people in a cheaper rate ...
Customs just need to up their game to checkmate making the country a dumping ground ...
See that you are more daft na?
Did manufacturers tell you they haven't been accessing cheap forex from CBN?
Who do you think are the ones trading at the NAFEX window?ghosts?brother ode.
The people that are affected by this forex scarcity are importers of finished goods for retail purposes, reasons why inflation in the streets is getting crazy but factory prices remains almost the same.
People whose imports are insignificant or the ones who are under fx ban due to the type of commodity they import(no form M for them) are the ones patronising aboki in the streets for their fx needs hence exposed to exchange rate volatility, not manufacturers who import raw materials.
Also about cars,do you think if Nigeria's imports was just cars,we would experience fx scarcity?Don't you know if we stop importing the things that take our fx the most(petrol,food,grains...),fx would fall on it's own so much so that cars will become cheap on it's own without depleting our reserves to achieve it or turn our country into a dumping ground by making cheap fx readily available?
You talk about customs checkmating dumping?Nigga are you dumb?
Why haven't they checkmate the smuggling of rice since?
If they cant do that, then is it dumping they can checkmate?
Oga you too dull, too much dull abeg.

Yeah cuz dollar will be readily available any where and anyhow ... but it’s good . Another foolish president will still come with another policy that will make dollar high ..

If dollar is low , things will be very cheap in the market , I mean very very cheap cars inclusive
You are very daft,if dollars becomes that cheap,it will encourage dumping which in turn will cause lots industries and services oriented businesses to close shop and you would be jobless.
So where would you see the money to buy the so called cheap car when you are jobless? undecided

Bro with all due respect you really have a lot to learn...

So if I have 120 m and my business can run optimally with 100m... So 20m is disposable income according to your own definition... I run my own firm and I can't remember the last time I earned salary bro

Let me break this down, to a good manager... That 20 million isn't disposable income sir! That 20 million can be put into a sinking fund (a fund that a company keeps in the case of eventualities ) that is what a CEO does ...

No money in business organisation can be called disposable ... It is either that fund is in sinking fund or money for expansion or diversification.... because no business wants to stay stagnant! So diversification and expansion has always been the core of every busineess

Don't worry, when you start running your own firm you will grow to understand these stuff... Trust me

There is nothing like disposable income... Every penny, cent , Kobo has what is meant for ... If it's money to buy a car , it would be captured in busineess inventory, projections and budgets

Personal luxury cars are not a good investment no company does that because of whaat is called in accounts depreciation...if you buy a car 10 million now...once you drive out of the showroom, the price of that car has removed or yanked off by 30% that same day!

You can't sell that car 11 million ever...highest you can sell it is 7 million ..I mean a car you bought that same day !

In accounts it's called depreciation

Oga,your business Is just too little to have disposable income, that's why you think disposable income as a business don't exist.
Why then do proper businesses(not shanties in onitsha) buy luxury cars for their execs since disposable income don't exist?they could have bought corolla for them na and keep the change in their emergency fund, don't you think?
Maybe they are stupid and you in a pigsty is just smarter than people that built multimillion dollar corporations, right?
Do you know what optimally means? It contains both cash at bank for the business, inventory ,assets and liabilities.
So why would you talk about expansion again when you've already been told the business is running optimally at 100m?
Why do you think dangote invested in refinery instead rather than keep pumping money on cement?
No matter what you inject, when a business has hit satiety, any other capital pumped into it is futile as income won't change,so it's useless.
You are wasting that money instead.
Oga you are driving old cars because you are just poor, stop wasting my afternoon giving me useless excuses in the name of priorities.
You think the people that bought the new S class don't have country homes or aren't looking into their retirement?
So they used all their funds to buy the car abi?
Nna na wa ooo

Simple physics .. that was why I used the term equilibrium constant or all things being equal

A lamborghini that is traveling at 180km/h and a Kia picanto travelling at 180km/h are the same ...they are travelling at the same speed and reach the same destination same time ...all things being equal

It's just simple physics...just like saying 10kg bag of stone and 10kg bag of cotton woods ...weigh basically same...it's as simple as that . Physics

You keep saying disposable income ..do you know that there is even nothing like that. Every money has a motive and not disposable. .unless you throw the money away....

So ...to you bro, you may love 2021 models of car...that is you and I respect that

To Me, I love startups and business expansion and I prefer a car that is well oiled ..(maibtaned) I talk from experience

I have had friends that at a point in life they had great cars...like 3 cars parked in garage...channging cars up and down to impress society and women...today , theey ask for recharge cards ! Used their money on cars, women and booze

So , I don't personally need to experience that to learn that....I learnt from them...and why go crazy on new models when if you drive out from thee showroom when you buy a car...it has depreciated 30% that day....

Cars ain't stuff that freak me personally !

I am the last person you might want to explain physics to,I did applied physics and Engineering in school.
What you said was,if 2 cars(merc and 2021 lexus) have 220kph on their speedo, you didn't insert the right parameters to make them appear side by side for your point to fly.
2 cars can be doing 220kph but one is ahead of the other, that is why I brought up acceleration because if say both cars are limited to 220kph ,its very clear that the lambo would attain 220kph first and stay there and in essence will be ahead of the Kia that will take longer time to get to 220kph.
And my man, disposable income is not a myth.
If your business can be run optimally with 100m and you've got 120m,it means 20m is disposable, know that.
Because if you do that business with 120m,it won't suddenly increase earning because you put more capital,as a matter of fact you are actually wasting the time value of that 20m.
It is called satiety in economics.
Learn bro,learn... grin
And yes, cars could be an investment too,to get you into places you never would have gotten into and attract you better women.
A female COO in a good company with repute won't go on a date with you in your 2002 C class, all this Onitsha theories sef.

I would admire and respect that man that drives a 2002 C class and has company, paying staffs salaries and has his own apartment... That is who I would respect

I no be small babe way car dey trip... Even big babes are not moved by cars they are moved by content in the man.. take this from me...

Some of us have driven cars here , I mean many cars and have come to see the other side of life

It's not a matter of debate it's just a personal opinion and I respect yours also

Peace .... Make I do other stuffs bro..
There are levels to salary earners and no,onitsha Traders are not entrepreneurs.
They are "hustlers" peddling stuff in the streets that real entrepreneurs produced.
Do you know what business and value is?
Can a person build a career in the shop of an Onitsha trader?
And salary earners really don't need your respect, they are the ones buying houses all over lekki and taking their families abroad for vacation while your so called Onitsha peddlers you respect are sweating it out to sell their products with heavy objectives in the streets, living in apartments that could pass for a penitentiary and eating rice weh the mamaput don spit untop tire. cheesy
Bros,I am also a businessman, a worldwide conglomerate runner at that so keep your Onitsha sermon.I can differentiate very well between good life and poverty so no need to explain.
If they like, they can keep paying their N5,000 salaries to their malnourished sales girls, but so far as you buy an old "luxury" car ,bros it's because your purchasing power is low, like you couldn't afford a better one, finish.
People that don't care about cars and are so focused only on their business expansion are not buying mercedes, they are the ones buying corolla up and down.
Learn that.

sir he made his point and you don't have to impose yours on him.. it's a conversation...some people live for something

I am am igbo guy and in Onitsha , I have seen people , I know many of my people that have serious busineesses , I mean real money, like 5 storey buildings like 5 or 6 in a hot city like Onitsha driving a V Boot...ask around.. these guys are rich in all ramification! Their wives drives good cars but they love vintage...I have seen a lot of them

For instance, Microsoft co-founder and world's richest person Bill Gates recently bought himself a Porsche 911 supercar. Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson, likewise, famously drives his amphibious Gibbs Aquada around the U.K. But there are other billionaires who never let go of the thrifty habits that contributed to their success.

The founder and CEO of Facebook, the world's largest social networking platform, is often seen driving a black Acura TSX, a car valued around $30,000. He says he prefers the choice because it's "safe, comfortable and not ostentatious."

Heiress to the Wal-Mart fortune, Alice Walton is now the wealthiest woman in the world after Liliane Bettencourt passed away this week. Her vehicle of choice is a 2006 Ford F-150 King Ranch, with a modest price of around $40,000

Her late father Sam Walton, the founder of Wal-Mart, drove around the 1979 version of the same truck until he died in 1992.

The owner of the Los Angeles Clippers and former CEO of Microsoft has proudly driven Fords throughout his life because his father was a manager at Ford Motor Company.

In 2009, Ballmer was personally delivered a new Ford Fusion Hybrid by Ford's CEO at the time, Alan Mulally, in celebration of their one-millionth vehicle equipped with SYNC, an in-vehicle communications and entertainment system.

The car's original retail price was around $28,000.

How many of these guys are you richer than sir? I am not saying buying a latest car isn't good but people have choice in life...some people can decide to spend their money on cars and latest trucks while some wood say okay, I need a yatch, I need to invest in startups or I need to buy a property in a city

It's all about trash...a C 320 car has a speedometer of 220 and if we have a Lexus that has the same speedometer of 220 of 2021 with same speedo do you think that the Lexus would outrun the C class (equilibrium constant ) or things being equal ? It's simple physics ..what we should be comparing between the two are handling , conering or even stability

Some folks don't aren't even bothered about the latest rides trust me , just like some folks aren't even bothered with the latest phones ...what they believe is due maintained cars no matter the age

It's all about individual preference

My personal opinion...I might be wrong to you though

Peace

I'm sure you know the Mark Zuckerberg you guys always make reference to owns a pagani sha,and we all know what it's worth.
Also about the C320 and the lexus, yes the lexus will outrun the C320 with both having 220 as their speedo limit.
What you measure in cars is acceleration, not top speed.
Which will get yo a higher speed first, that's how you know which car can outrun the other.
Also,I don't know about the so called "fake boys" because I'm not one, neither do I roll with them nor live in a selfcon so i wouldn't know.
But my point is simple,if the so called rich man wasn't trying to make a statement, then why buy a luxury car in the first place?
It just shows they want luxury and the lustre that comes with it but somehow cant afford proper luxury.
And also,I don't see people in Onitsha as rich, neither do I think they are sane.
It cost so little to develop all those their poorly finished tall houses you see littered obosi up until nkpor(we have a lot so I know) and the rental value of those too are very shitty,so I don't expect people that own those to have enough disposable income, reason why they all live like pigs.
It's one thing to have cash flow(their usual trading businesses),and it's another thing entirely to have disposable income,I hope you know the difference.
One single 4 storey building in GRA PH can be worth 10 of those shabby things in Onitsha and can produce 10 times their rental income,so who do you think will be able to buy better cars?

Having been to a couple of nations and one thing I noticed about blacks and Africans is that we love showmanahip... Once a car comes out, you go to dealership, trade the other one then impress your fellow black Folks with the car not impressing them with your strides or intellectual sagacity... This is the black culture in europe and usa

Now we as Nigerians have copied that mentality, we say this car is old and that car is old, let's take the C Class benz of 2003 model, to some folks they would say it's old but in Germany and Austria even UAE, They still drive that ride well maintained...

That C class has 6 airbags (2 dashboard and 4 at the doors ) some 2020 cars don't even have the number of those airbags , full 4matic

With ESP, BAS , ETS and all those safety features in that C Class most 2018 cars don't have them apart from basic ABS

Now people would look at the C class as old without asking how does it handles , drives, corners and the 0 - 60 km ...

No the average black Nigerian would say he is driving a 2003 benz while I am driving a 2015 Camry without asking what and why ?

You see that is black folks mentality and it has to do with rap culture carry over ... As you age in life , maybe in 40s you will realize that you don't need to start changing cars everyday... That is if you are legit... You start planning for your retirement

In 30s or late 20s you are mad about models and age in cars... We understand, it is their age ( if you look at those guys theey fall into that age bracket ) new moneys

If your in late teens and early 20s, you will be mad about phones, every year you change phones to impress and you are mad about Gucci, Versace, givenchy , prada etc

Now if you are in your 50s and getting matured you are thinking about holiday homes, investments, kids graduation etc

So at a point don't blame them in a way... It's their age but most of them carry this mentality to late 40s and at the end of the day 50s would be a life of regret

So , when I see them talk here on nairaland and social media... I just laugh and move on
grin
It's all about disposable income my man,its got nothing to do with the age of a person.
When you've got good money, you tend to go for the good things of life.
My chairman is in his late 40s,a family and homely man,has country homes,etc...both in Nigeria and the US.
Yet somehow he still managed to squeeze a Range rover, landcruiser and an incoming G wagon(2020 ooo) to his fleet.
So you see how obsolete your point about age is?
Truth is,old luxury cars make you look poor, wannabe, wretched and stupid.
If you are thinking about investments and all that, please buy a basic car and leave luxury alone, before you tell the world you are too poor to own luxury yet you want luxury.
I am very investment savvy, run a good business and very careful with money yet I would never make the mistake of buying a luxury car older than 5yrs ever again!
As I can't afford it now ehn,I will keep driving my corolla till I can,end of story.

you are not wrong but full of wisdom.
I personally believe the "newness" of anything is a function of time as a brand new car today will end up as outdated eventually. My views about vehicles bothers on reliability and my comfort before considering the perceptions of others. As long as a car can move me from point A to B without hassles, the year of production is inconsequential. I would rather channel the extra cash more enduring legacies unlike cars that you will get tired of after a couple of years on our terrible roads.
Lastly, do you realise those who have money they truly worked for are usually not "latest" freaks?
Look up Bill Gates, Carlos Slim or even Dangote.
Dangote is driven in brand new landcruisers. What are you talking about?
Oga old cars are trash, make we no dey use because of poverty(low purchasing power+lack of credit) dey talk gibberish.
