Who knows how things would have panned out if the northern soldiers hadn't been hell-bent on visiting retribution on anyone perceived to be Igbo for the sins of a few soldiers who were from other ethnic groups as well!

I know your next line of argument would be that Ironsi should have had the coupists tried and executed to calm things. Probably so, but this is where his naivety comes in.
