One is just cracked throughout the body, and I later used it in another part of my building to carry a fridge/freezer and just that one panel cracked is doing it perfectly. For how long will it last, don't know.

The second one not only cracked but a hole was created. I didn't use that one any other place coz I'm scared water/rain will enter the hole and damage cells. If there's an advice for me to still use it, pls I'll need some.

Anyway, I decided not to include those two because of the myth that adding panels that produce less wattage will affect the general production if connected with good ones. Don't know how true, but that fear made me not to add it to the other 8.

I mean it's prudent to not connect it with pristine ones, but like you observed they still pack a punch.

For the one with a hole, water usually doesn't do much damage, and the reason is that the glass is actually laminated which means apart from the very small exposed or damaged part of the cell, the other cells are water tight and still work fine. Just not at 100%.

You never did answer what happens if you are charging to 3.65v every day but your inverter or charge controller is actually seeing a lower voltage at the battery? You have not left any margin for error because according to you you have read the manufacturers report? For the sake of an extra 0.5%?

I bought 10 with the intention of using 9 of the 555w jinko. Wanted to connect them in sets of 3s in series and sets in parallel. But 2 panels broke while transporting to the forest where I live.
So I had to do 4 sets of 2 panels. A set contains 2 panels in series and all connected in parallel. So I get like 100v of pv.

Thank God I bought 16mm pv cable coz that's what will carry such high amp that will be produced very comfortably. That big cable ensures you get close full capacity of your panels, coz if it's smaller cable I will lose a lot due to heat. With the 16mm, even at 10am I get 4.1kw

I'm using 100ahm felicity charge controller. I don't use hybrid cos at times I leave the forest for 2 months and I need to put off inverter and just let the charge controller keep charging the battery. I did so coz I was using gel batteries before and you know how they lose volts without floating it. But now I have lithium I think I can put off the battery and after 2 months it will have little change to the volts I left it with.

@bolded....if it didn't break completely, you could have tested them before discarding. Cracked glass panels can still do their job most times.

There is a solution to that called a soft starter. Very small circuit. I've even seen a DIY of it. The guy used on on a sachet inverter to run a grinder.

Actual cost will vary, but atleast hold like 1.5-2.5m for something robust. If you decide to go the DIY route, it may be cheaper for you, but more risky.

In other parts of the world where they have various climates (winter, autumn, spring, summer) ... How will they see sun in winter and autumn? Eventually they'll have to run back to using fossil fuels/thermal/other non solar sources of energy.

Solar power is one out of the many other renewable sources of power. There is biogas for gas turbines, wind turbines for wind, even tidal wave generators that use the difference in tide levels to drive a generator. It just depends on how serious the government is to reduce or eliminate reliance on fossil fuels.

I eventually got the testers from Tetra, and they both work fine. Although instead of two adapters for them, I got one big one with three heads. I would have preferred what I ordered though, but this still works if you are careful not to short out or pull the fragile connections.

Want to commend @justcallmenuel. Bought some panels through him that ended up bin overated. Supposed to be 440w but checking online showed them as 360w. Returned it back and he refunded me without delay tactics or wasting time.

If you don't mind direct foreign used panels with original label and capacity, then I can supply you. Atleast you go de sure say no be relabelled.

when load from Solar panel exceeds that of the charge controller, risk over loading the charge controller which could cause it to over heat. Even MPPT has got it's ratings.

it doesn't matter if the charge controller is of high quality or not.

Normally, appliance would draw only what current it needs so long the voltage ain't exceeded BUT when it comes to charge controllers, that's not always the case.
Some would disconnect until the output of the solar panel comes down to acceptable level so long the rated maximum input voltage of the charge controller ain't exceeded.

But adding Solar panels above capacity of the charge controller, you risk over charging the batteries, and over heating the charge controller.

The damage might not happen instantly but in a short while, you would see result.

Overheating the controller at max amperage, possible. But overcharging the battery? Nope. Except the charging settings are not set correctly.

On another note, I've noticed some of your posts have fonts that stray out of mobile screen....just fyi, Incase it's not something deliberate.
