Politics / Kogi State Government Raises Alarm Over Inciting News Ahead Of Election by Triton1996(m): 1:40pm On May 07, 2023
Kogi State Government Raises Alarm Over Inciting News Ahead Of Governorship Election

The Kogi state government under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello has raised an alarm over plans to incite the public with fake news against the goverment ahead of the gubernatorial election.

In a statement signed by the commissioner for information, Kingsley Fanwo, the people were warned against paying attention to such statements while describing them as fake and an attempt to destroy the unity of the state.

He made it known that some politicians are behind the fake information targeted against the person of Governor Yahaya Bello who has done everything in his capacity to unite the state.

Read statement below:

KOGI STATE PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

BEWARE OF FAKE AND INCITING NEWS AHEAD OF KOGI GUBER ELECTION

1. The Kogi State Government wishes to draw the attention of the general public to the antics of mischief makers and ethnic bigots to stoke the flames of ethnic resentment, division and hate by agents of political desperation who are bent on destroying the unity and peace enjoyed by the State.

2. Their unintelligent approach has been to push ethnically divisive words and attribute same to Governor Yahaya Bello in order to incite certain ethnic groups against his person and his administration. These statements are not only false, but also an ignominy of dragging our state back to the conquered era of ethnic chauvinism.
Governor Yahaya Bello through his actions, projects, appointments and unifying leadership credentials, has succeeded in building the state into what politics cannot balkanize. We remain a united and prosperous state.

3. We urge members of the public to look out for, and ignore those inciting falsehoods as well as report those who circulate them to law enforcement agencies. It is clearly the handiwork of politicians who do not have the interest of the state at heart.

4. Until his last day in office, Governor Yahaya Bello will continue to work hard to improve livelihood in the state, keep the people united and continue to serve all Kogites irrespective of their religion, ethnicity and political beliefs. What binds us together is stronger than the desperate wishes of the enemies of the state.

Signed: Kingsley Fanwo

Hon. Commissioner for Information and Communications

Business / “ Petro Union Cheque Is A Forgery,” British Crime Detective Informs Court by Triton1996(m): 6:57am On May 06, 2023
“Petro Union Cheque is a Forgery,” British Crime Detective informs court

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has closed its case in a £2.6 billion alleged fraud charge slammed on an oil firm, Petro Union Oil and Gas Limited, a consultant to the company and three of its directors.

The Consultant is Abayomi Kukoyi (Trading under the name and style of Gladstone Kukoyi & Associates), while the company’s directors on trial are Prince Kingsley Okpala, Prince Chidi Okpalaeze and Prince Emmanuel Okpalaeze

While closing its case before Justice Mohammed Liman of the Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday, the anti-graft agency called its last witness, Nathaniel John Webb, a senior investigative officer at the National Crime Agency (NCA) in the United Kingdom.

Giving his evidence before the court, Detective Sergeant Webb told Justice Liman that the NCA was assigned to investigate the activities and status of the two firms, Gazeaft Ltd and Goldmatic Ltd, that were allegedly used by the defendants to perpetrate the crime.

The witness also informed the court how he made enquiries at Barclays Bank in London on the status of these two firms and found out that they have both been been wound up and the accounts closed in 1987 and 1989 respectively. He further told the court that when the cheque for £2.6 billion drawn on Gazeaft Limited was presented to Union Bank for clearing in 1994, the company and its account at Barclay’s Bank were not in existence. He also told the court that there was no evidence of the lodgement of the £2.6 billion cheque at Barclays Bank at any time during the existence of Gazeaft Limited and while the account was in existence.

Earlier, an investigative officer with the EFCC, Suleiman Yusuf, had also testified in the matter. In his evidence-in-chief, Sulaiman told the court that he was part of the team that arrested the defendants.

"I am one of the team that investigated this matter. We investigated the matter as a team, and I played many roles at the time. During the investigation, the National Crime Agency (NCA) in the United Kingdom was contacted for enquiries on the two firms used in perpetrating the fraud", the witness said. The report of the investigation of the NCA was sent to the Attorney-General of the Federation and has been tendered as evidence before the court”.

Following the conclusion of EFCC's case, the defence lawyers informed the court that their clients would be filing a no case submission.

The EFCC had on 27th January 2021 re-arraigned the four Directors on a 13-count charge of alleged £2.6 billion fraud. They were earlier on February 13, 2020, arraigned by the anti-graft agency on a 7-count charge bordering on the alleged offence. The defendants' trial subsequently resumed after they all pleaded not guilty to the amended charge.

One of the counts against the defendants read as thus:

"That you Petro Union Oil and Gas Limited, Prince Isaac Okpala (now deceased), Abayomi Kukoyi, Prince Kingsley Okpala, Prince Chidi Okpalaeze, Prince Emmanuel Okpalaeze and Princess Gladys Okpalaeze (now at large) on or about 29th December, 1994 within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court fraudulently procured a Barclays Bank cheque dated 29th December, 1994 in the sum of £2,556,000,000.00 made payable to Gladstone Kukoyi and Associates, purporting the said cheque to be meant for foreign investment in the construction of 3 refineries and petrochemical complex in Nigeria, when you knew that the said cheque to be false and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(2) (a) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990 and punishable under same Section".

Further hearing in the matter has been adjourned to June 21 for the hearing of the defendants' no case submission.

Taraba Gov-elect, Dr. Agbu Kefas Employing A Different Approach To Governance

By Oluwatosin Alex

Governance in Nigeria may have been a one-way traffic affair but the governor-elect of Taraba state, Dr. Agbu Kefas is moving away from the norms and employing a different approach to governance.

When politicians get elected into office, it is a normal thing for them to travel out of the country or hid themselves from the public in order to rest as a result of the stressful campaign period. The 2023 presidential and governorship election wasn’t in any way different; even the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed left the country and just returned a few days ago.

For Agbu Kefas, the period between election victory and inauguration isn’t to relax but to prepare for the tedious job of governance in order to have a smooth running. Agbu Kefas understands that the office of a governor isn’t one you can learn while on the job, you must make yourself ready in all areas before you step into the dignified office.
Immediately after he was elected, Dr. Agbu Kefas called on the opposition and those who lost the election to work with him and join hands together for the sake of Taraba. Almost every opposition candidate visited him in his home after recognizing that indeed, the governor-elect is more interested in the progress of the state than his personality.

The governor-elect quickly swung into action towards his mission for the state which include Education, healthcare, women and youth empowerment, security, peace and unity, economy, and job creation. He realized there was no point in waiting till he is inaugurated before moving to the action stage. Just a few days after his victory, Dr. Agbu Kefas started meeting with investors and stakeholders who are like-minds and are willing to get involved in the progress of Taraba state.

Dr. Agbu Kefas didn’t limit his search for and meetings with investors to Taraba state alone; he went across the country and even outside the shores of Africa to pitch his plans to them for the sake of Taraba state. So far, many of them have agreed to invest in Taraba state.

Different from the norms, Dr. Agbu Kefas is likely to instate his cabinet members within his first month in office because he has been working behind the scene toward selecting the best hands. At the moment, about 90% of his commissioners, and personal aides have been selected based on their abilities, skills, and commitment to make Taraba state progress.

The governor-elect of Taraba state, Agbu Kefas has gotten involved in activities that sincerely portray him as one who is ready to hit the ground running. It’s surprising that the governor-elect is actively involved in the process of meeting investors and selecting his cabinet members.

Among others, Dr. Agbu Kefas is sure to have the smoothest-running government on account of his preparedness. Taraba state is truly blessed to have Governor-elect, Agbu Kefas, who is taking governance with a totally different approach.

Politics / General Buratai In The Equation Of Insecurity Downplay In Tinubu's Government by Triton1996(m): 12:29pm On May 02, 2023
GENERAL BURATAI IN THE EQUATION OF INSECURITY DOWNPLAY IN TINUBU'S GOVERNMENT

BY

FEMI OYEWALE

As Nigeria prepares for a fresh phase in its democratic existence on May 29, 2023, a peaceful environment for socio-economic and cultural growth has, yet again, become a critical issue in the mix. This is essentially so because the country, unarguably reputed as one of the biggest markets for raw and finished goods on earth, attracts humans of all kinds to its geographical space. Incidentally and over the years, anti-democratic forces in collaboration with fifth columnists, constituted themselves into national security nuisance, disrupting activities across sectors.

As of mid-2022, the orchestrated violence has cost the country 11% of its GDP and N119 billion loss of revenue. Similarly, projects worth about N12 trillion have been abandoned according to data from Town Talk Solutions. Looking ahead, these challenging scenarios, Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All-Progressive Congress, APC, now President-Elect, had, in October 2022, unveiled his presidential agenda where he prioritized security. Titled "Renewed Hope 2023 – Action Plan for a Better Nigeria," Tinubu affirmed that he would continue with the social investment programmes of the Buhari-led administration.

The President-Elect equally added that total transformation of Nigeria can be achieved, building on the foundation laid by the APC administration of President Buhari. Specifically, he emphasized that security is the “bedrock of a prosperous and democratic society”, assuring that his administration would make it a fundamental responsibility to protect the life and property of its citizens by mobilizing the country’s national security, military and law enforcement assets to protect all Nigerians from danger and the fear of danger.

“The current government has made important inroads. When it came into office, the Buhari government met a situation in which terrorists had planted their flags and claimed Nigerian territory as their own. “The Buhari government eliminated these incursions against our national sovereignty, bringing peace to many areas. Thousands of formerly displaced people have returned home to rebuild their lives,” Tinubu disclosed. However, and interestingly so, General Tukur Yusufu Buratai (rtd), was the arrowhead of the team that helped President Buhari's government to achieve these significant successes in the reduction of insurgency which Tinubu has promised to build upon.

Essentially, the pre-Buhari government was a session of anger in the land where nihilism became the official dictum through organized terrorism. The peace in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, was displaced by vengeful, omnidirectional hatred. On assumption of office in 2015, this ugly situation provoked President Buhari to employ a trusted and tested General to change the insecurity narrative in Nigeria. Lieutenant General Yusufu Tukur Buratai (rtd), was widely recommended on account of his outstanding military pedigree. He was, unarguably, the pick of the pack. And he became the Chief of Army Staff in July 2015. Buratai hit the ground running and soldiered on.

Despite distractions ostensibly by segmented bashings from some misinformed stakeholders and sections of the human rights groups who orchestrated hugely unsubstantiated allegations, Buratai continued in a most commendable fashion. He provided leadership and inspired the troops to work harder through dedicated strategies.

Notably, Buratai intelligently enhanced Army-Civilian relationship with the Northeast populace including other parts of Nigeria as a major step that turned the tables against insurgents during his time. He reinvigorated joint civil-military operations, comprising all operational formations of the Services with a central coordination Headquarters which coordinated civil and humanitarian activities. These strategies greatly assisted the joint force commander.

Humanitarian, national-assistance operations, theatre campaigns and civil-military operations worked concurrently and cohesively. With these strategies, the military under Buratai sustained the tempo of operations and kept up the aggressive assaults on insurgents as well as enhanced collaboration and synergy with other sister agencies.

Towards the last half of 2020, the bandits had been overwhelmed. They were calling for negotiations through some prominent individuals. This was as a result of the pressure mounted on the bandits. Many of their fighters, collaborators, logistic suppliers and informants were neutralised, captured or escaped out of the country for safety.

By the time Buratai left office in early 2021, the remnants of the Boko Haram insurgents have been confined to the fringes of the Lake Chad Basin region, with no territory under their control and largely carrying out hit-and-run skirmishes.

Curiously, President Buhari beckoned yet again for “Another important assignment”, a few days after Buratai ended his selfless service in January 2021. The former Chief of Army Staff was faithfully obliged to take part, as fully as he can, in any measure designed, in particular, to keep the constituent ethnic units in the federation of Nigeria as one as well as preserve Nigeria as an economic and political entity. But, this time, through diplomatic channels.

The President’s brief was clear and straightforward forward, especially from the already well-known international influence, funding and support for the insurgency in Nigeria. Given his deep understanding of the President’s intentions because of his direct involvement in counter-insurgency operations for a reasonable length of years as Army boss, Buratai easily subsumed into Buhari’s tactical design to secure Nigeria’s borders through neighbouring countries as an ambassador.

He particularly felt it would be untidy of him to abdicate such responsibility when the war against insurgency was yet over.
He reckoned that there was an important need to reinforce service chiefs’ efforts from the outside through diplomatic push and support. Expectedly, his resumption at the Republic of Benin as Ambassador was the needed signal to smugglers of arms and architects of economic sabotage that the game was over.

He reawakened all the unused diplomatic regulations including bilateral relations in line with the science and philosophy of international laws to ensure appropriate diplomatic steps were deployed without infringement on fundamental rights. He injected fresh directives into their operational codes, maintaining that never again should the border become the hub of economic sabotage and illegal arms snuggling.

Just in his early 60s, it is morning yet for Buratai in national service. His unmatched professionalism, military skills and understanding of Nigeria's security issues blended with diplomatic knowledge perfectly recommend him for the Defence portfolio in Tinubu's government.

Business / More Crisis Rocks Seplat Energy As Top Official, Fabian Ajogwu Resigns by Triton1996(m): 9:31am On Apr 25, 2023
The crisis rocking Seplat Energy has taken a twist as Fabian Ajogwu has resigned from the board of Seplat Energy Plc.
A senior advocate of Nigeria, Ajogwu has served as an independent non-executive director of the oil and gas company listed on both the London and Nigerian Stock Exchanges since 2021

The source, according TheCable, said recent events and deliberate external interference have allegedly prevented Ajogwu from continuing the discharge of his fiduciary and statutory duties as an independent non-executive director to the highest standards of corporate governance.

“Ajogwu, a foremost Professor of Corporate Governance and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), cited unwholesome conduct by some people external to Seplat, but nonetheless resolved to negatively distract the Board of Seplat thereby militating against the smooth operations of the company,” the source said.

“His arrival on the board in July 2021 saw him bring the benefit of corporate governance experience from his works and teachings, including the benefit of having drafted Nigeria’s pioneer code of corporate governance, chaired NCC telecoms Code and assisted with the National Code of Corporate Governance as a member.
“It is understood that he will remain a Board member until October 2023.”

On March 3, 2023, the federal government had revoked the visa, resident permit, and work permit of Roger Brown, chief executive officer of Seplat, following allegations bordering on racism by aggrieved stakeholders of the company.

Brown subsequently stepped down from his position after an ex-parte order that stopped him from functioning as the CEO of the organization.

The federal government also filed a four-count charge against Seplat Energy at a federal high court in Abuja, over an alleged breach of extant provisions of the Immigration Act, 2015.

Brown; Basil Omiyi, board chairman; Edith Onwuchekwa, company secretary/legal counsel; as well as independent directors Fabian Ajogwu,
Rabiu Bello, Emma Fitzgerald, Charles Okeahalam, Bashirat Odunewu, were also charged.
In the suit marked FHC/AB/CR/149/2023, the defendants were accused of conspiring among themselves to allow Brown to accept employment as chief executive officer at Seplat Energy Plc “without the consent of the comptroller-general of immigration”.

Giving updates on the lawsuit, on Thursday, Omiyi quoted the notice of withdrawal as saying all the proceedings in the charge were
withdrawn.

Omiyi also said the Lagos federal high court had also vacated the ex parte interim orders against himself, Seplat, and Brown.
Commenting on the development, Make a Difference Initiative (MADI), a civil society and good governance advocacy group, asked the federal government to resist the pressure to discontinue the suit filed against Seplat Energy Plc and Brown.

How Governor-elect, Agbu Kefas Will Tackle Insecurity In Taraba State By Oluwatosin Alex

For many years, Taraba state has been at the mercy of unknown gunmen, terrorists, kidnappers, and different groups causing unrest in the state.

The ordinary citizens in Taraba state have not been sleeping with their two eyes closed while government officials employ the services of security operatives to protect them for the deadly stings of terrorism. It’s not out of point to state that No one is safe in Taraba state.
Insecurity in the northern part of the country is indeed a nuisance that has become a stigma for the division. Other states in the north apart from Taraba state are suffering from the vice that seem to be unconquerable. Several lives have been lost, many have been rendered homeless, and properties have gone down the drain, as a result of this evil called insecurity.

In order to fulfil his promise to the people of Taraba state, Dr. Agbu Kefas, who is a security expert, has created sustainable plans to surmount insecurity and make Taraba state safe for all once again. Agbu Kefas is a retired colonel and during his service years, He recorded great success in restoring peace to places that were fully the zones of terrorists.

Dr. Agbu Kefas served in the Niger Delta region and as deadly as the region was, the governor-elect through his security expertise and experience, was able to bring terrorism to a halt in the region.

In the same vein, Dr. Agbu Kefas will be exploring his many years of experience as a security expert to tackle insecurity in Taraba state.
Dr. Agbu Kefas believes in collaboration of security operatives as it helps to end terrorism within a short period of time. He has planned to lead a coalition among the Nigerian army, the Nigeria police force and NSCDC for the purpose of defeating insecurity in Taraba state. Apart from the conventional security operatives, Dr. Agbu Kefas will be employing the services of security personalities well-trained in the use of technology to locate terrorist hide-outs and capture them with digital weapons.

Dr. Agbu Kefas has huge plans for the people of Taraba and bringing an end to terrorism is one of his priorities.

Celebrities / Musician, Funmi Ayinke Receives Two Exotic Vehicles As 40th Birthday Gift by Triton1996(m): 10:20am On Apr 14, 2023
Popular Nigerian musician, Funmi Ayinke has received two luxurious vehicles as a gift ahead of her 40th Birthday celebration coming up on May 27, 2023.

The musician made this announcement on her instagram account, while making it known the gifts came in some months after she gave out an exotic car worth N25 Million to an undisclosed man of God.

She made it known that when she gave out the car to the pastor, many of her workers felt something was wrong with her even though she is used to giving out her belongings to people. She mentioned that her husband couldn’t hold his amazement when he discovered that she gave out such an exotic car to a pastor.

Funmi Ayinke who shared the news to encourage people to give explained that her workers also witnessed the delivery of the gifts in her office.

Read statement below

Let me tell you something about obedience to God...... The truth is that when instruction comes, it is always not easy to let go but upon obeying God, your life can never remain the same.
God laid it to my heart to release one of my cars worth 25m to a man of God not knowing that has been his prayer request for more than three months now.
I discussed with my staff that the vehicle was not lost but I gave it as God directed me.
Some of them look at me like really? Some kept quiet because they had given up on me, my husband asked me if he hoped one day, God will not ask me to give him out... Bla bla
I was not moved by whatever they said, I held on to my faith and the word of God that said "Blessed is she that believeth for there shall be a performance of those things that God had spoken".
Today, all my staff witnessed the testimony of the second vehicle that was brought in today as my birthday gift coming up on May 27. #chapter40
Whether we like it or not, To stay in the light is far better than compromising your faith.
I appeal to you all, not to give up on trusting God. I just want you to serve God in all obedience.
It is too late for FunmiAyinke to give up because my life testimonies cannot be comprehended when I start to share them here.
I had to share this one so that each time you get to your crossroad of doubting God, You will always remember FUNMIAYINKE.
PLEASE NEVER DOUBT GOD.

Politics / Lagos Assembly Stops Salaries Of Government Appointees Without House Approval by Triton1996(m): 5:15pm On Apr 11, 2023
- Summons HoS, Accountant-General, Commissioner

- orders withdrawal of appointment letters to affected appointees
The Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday ordered the withdrawal of letters given to government appointees whose nominations should have been sent to the House for their screening and confirmation, but who took up the jobs without the due process.
The House also ordered immediate halting of salaries and remunerations enjoyed by the affected government appointees pending their appearances before the House. The Assembly further summoned three top officials over the issue.

Those summoned include the Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, the Accountant-General of the State, Dr. Abiodun Muritala, and the state's Commissioner for Establishment, Mrs. Ajibola Ponnle.
In a 'Matter of Urgent Public Importance' brought before the House by Hon. Noheem Adams, Deputy Majority Leader, the lawmakers lamented the increasing situation where supposed nominees of the governor continue to work without being screened and confirmed by the House Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, who presided at the sitting, agreed with the lawmakers that appointments of that nature without recourse to the House amounted to infractions.

"I quite agree with all of you that the failure of such nominees to appear is an infraction or violation of the laws of this House, especially as it relates to the MDAs, most of which were established by the laws of this House," Dr. Obasa said adding that the laws of the House of Assembly have statutory provisions that nominees of the governor must appear for confirmation.

"It is becoming common and regular and if we fail to act now, it becomes a norm. I share your sentiments that there is a need for us to put a stop to this. I am aware of the development in the Audit Commission, I am aware of the one in the Law Reform Commission and now the Auditor-General and some others," he said

Raising the issue earlier, Hon. Adams cited Section 196, subsection 2; Section 198 and Section 126, subsection 3 which give backing to the House of Assembly in respect of nominations by the governor for appointments.
"Section 126, subsection 3 provides that except with the resolution of a State Assembly, no person shall act in the office of the Auditor-General for a state for a period exceeding six months.

"As the chairman, House committee on legislative compliance, I have observed that some appointments to boards and other agencies were not brought to this noble House. If this persists, the principle of separation of powers will be in jeopardy.
"For example, the Auditor-General was appointed on the September 22, 2022 and today is April 11, 2023," Adams said adding that the Auditor-General's appointment in acting capacity had exceeded what the laws stipulate.
Supporting Adams, Hon. Ademola Kasunmu said the stipulations of Section 198 should be strictly adhered to. He added that because such appointments are considered null and void, every remuneration that had gone out, should be returned to the coffers of the State.

Speaking on the same matter, Hon. Victor Akande observed that the situation happened in the judiciary where an appointment was done without recourse to the House and the due process.

Hon. Sa'ad Olumoh lamented that such appointments without regard for the House were becoming too many.

"Separation of power is a doctrine enshrined in the constitution. The executive has the right to nominate people and the House has the responsibility to either confirm or reject such nominations.

"It is not only in the office of the Auditor-General, but I don't know in what capacity one can act beyond the time limit without recourse to the House," he said while urging the House to look at the issue holistically so as to put an end to what could cause issues later.

Hon. Rotimi Olowo, who noted the difference between nomination and appointment, lamented: "Today, we have a lot of people parading themselves with many names without appearing before this House for clearance. It should not be a padi-padi thing. This is a constitutional matter and if we do not adhere, we would end up facing the wrought of the people."

He said it was an infraction to have people who are not cleared by the House receiving salaries and "I am of the opinion that such money is supposed to be returned to the coffers."

Hon. Desmond Elliot called on the House to act in a way to curtail any future occurrence while Hon. Femi Saheed suggested that "in line with the constitution, anyone acting outside the stipulated time must recourse to the House."

He further suggested that the Head of Service be made to appear before the House to clear himself over the issue.

Politics / Opinion: Why Posterity May Never Be Kind To Taraba Governor, Darius Ishaku by Triton1996(m): 11:43am On Apr 05, 2023
The outgoing governor of Taraba state, Darius Ishaku may not be remembered for anything good with some of his actions lately.

Taraba state is currently in a deep crisis that has led to the death of some people due to the selfishness and greediness of Governor Darius Ishaku, all because he wants to have some control of the state even after handing over power to the incoming governor, Agbu Kefas.

It’s really an unfortunate thing that Nigerian politicians don’t think about the future before making some moves, they don’t think about what they want to be remembered for, all they are concerned with is how to retain power for their selfish purposes. Darius Ishaku is a typical Nigerian politician and one of the bad eggs the country has.

At least one person is killed and several others sustain injuries in Dugwer village in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State, following an alleged attempt by the state Governor Darius Ishaku, through the Chief of Jibu (Kuru Jibu), HRH Alhaji Abubakar Mahmood Adamu to grab the ancestral land belonging the people of the area.

Residents revealed that trouble started many months ago, over a large portion of land belonging to the Tiv people along the Bali -Takum federal highway in which Governor Ishaku had indicated interest to take over.

It was gathered that following Governor Ishaku’s alleged interest in the land, the Kuru Jibu, Alhaji Abubakar Mahmood Adamu had approached the leaders of the community that the Executive Governor of the State was interested in the land, urging them to vacate to a destination that they may be directed to.

It was also gathered that while the community was waiting for compensation and the new land to relocate, armed local vigilantes numbering over 60, allegedly under the instruction of the Kuru Jibu, stormed the community on Monday forcing the people out of the land.

The situation, according to residents, led to the killing of 42-year-old Terwase Ayem, while several others sustained various degrees of injury.

A village head, Zaki Ternenge, told The Sun Newspapers on phone that the attackers also looted agricultural produce and other valuable belongings to the people of the community worth Millions of Naira.

This is just one out of the many atrocities of the outgoing governor to destabilize Taraba state, probably to make the state ungovernable for the incoming governor. There have also been protests in the state following the governor’s attempt to install some traditional rulers despite a court order restraining him from doing so.

Even in the PDP chapter in Taraba, the governor has singlehandedly thrown the party into internal crisis following his attempt to impose a new state chairman after an illegal removal of the acting chairman, Hon Inuwa Bakari.

It’s a sad situation in Taraba and one can only be surprised at how Governor Darius Ishaku is causing more damage to his legacy. It’s just barely seven weeks to handing over and the best thing the governor can do for himself is to correct his wrongs and ensure a peaceful handing over but his actions portray a different thing. No doubt, if he continues this way, posterity will never be kind to him.

With Governor-Elect, Agbu Kefas, Taraba State Is In Safe Hands By Oluwatosin Alex

There may be tension at the moment, there may be security concerns, there may be massive debts owed by the present administration but with the emergence of Agbu Kefas as the governor-elect, Taraba state is in safe hands.

There was a revelation a few days ago that Agbu Kefas will be inheriting a debt of over N200 Billion and this was confirmed by local government executives in the state that claimed Governor Darius Ishaku is owing them salaries for six months.

Agbu Kefas in a statement had noted that he will clear the backlog of salaries for workers in the state and provide a better welfare package for them, as against what the present administration has done in the last eight years.

Since the emergence of Kefas, He has been meeting with important personalities within and outside the state to seek solutions to the problems of Taraba state. He has the plans already, He knows what to do to bring succor to the people and his meeting with these important personalities is just a means to make the plans come to fruition. One of the major discussions of these meetings is payment of the many debts owed and it’s so sure that before his first 100 days in office, many workers would be smiling to the bank already.

Agbu Kefas is ever ready to work for the people of Taraba state and will most likely appoint his commissioners within 40 days in office. He isn’t giving any room for mediocrity and has already chosen the best hands across the state. Some of the things that will be visible in the administration of Kefas Agbu is creation of wealth, port activities, CCTV for security reasons, tourism, strengthened electricity supply and many others.

The youths won’t also be left out in the administration of Agbu Kefas. He is someone who believes in the ability of the youths and will definitely make them part and parcel of his government.

Indeed, Taraba state is in safe hands with Agbu Kefas.

Politics / Thugs Loyal To APC's Emmanuel Bwacha Destroy Election Materials In Taraba by Triton1996(m): 11:17am On Mar 18, 2023
Some thugs loyal to the governorship candidate of the APC in Taraba, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha have destroyed election materials in Dongo local government area this morning.

Voting materials which include Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS), and ballot papers, among others, were destroyed in the attack.
Accreditation and voting scheduled to commence at about 8 am were disrupted by hoodlums who attacked polling units spread across the ward.

Though the hoodlums were said to have been repelled by security operatives, the electorates expressing their franchise in today’s governorship and state House of Assembly elections in the ward were frustrated.
Gunshots from the hoodlums, who were heavily armed, rang sporadically in the area to prevent the electorates from coming out to vote.

At the time of filing this report, voting in the 29 polling units of the ward has been put on hold as tension and apprehension have enveloped the area and the council.

Although Dongo local government is the home of Emmanuel Bwacha but there have been confirmed reports that he won’t be getting any reasonable vote in the ward. He has represented the people for years but no significant development has been brought to the district.

Apart from this, the candidate of the PDP, Kefas Agbu has several loyalists in the local government and it seems to be one of his strongholds in Taraba South. In a way to frustrate his strength, thugs were sent to destroy election materials.

It would be recalled that Emmanuel Bwacha was accused of employing thugs to disrupt the election few days ago. No doubt, this has confirmed it.

Politics / Nigeria Set For Greatness Under Tinubu's Watch - Oba Dr. Francis Agbede by Triton1996(m): 3:26pm On Mar 15, 2023
Nigeria set for greatness under Tinubu's watch - Oba Dr. Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede

Oba Dr. Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede OFR, the Olowa and Paramount King of the Igbara-Oke kingdom, has congratulated Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the winner of the February 25, 2023, presidential election, on his well-deserved and divinely-ordained triumph.

The monarch in a statement disclosed that Asiwaju's victory was due to his well-documented record of numerous accomplishments, including his work as a former governor who helped build the modern and enviable state of Lagos as well as his unwavering dedication to the advancement of humankind.

According to the Olowa, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ayodeji Owolabi, Tinubu's zero tolerance for mismanagement and retrogression in the political sphere and his ability to demonstrate emplacement of a better, alternative progressive leadership are noted by all, to the consternation of principalities and powers that had held Nigeria's development hostage for a number of years.

Oba Agbede emphasied that Tinubu's ability to govern Nigeria effectively was shown by his Midas touch in Lagos State, which is currently the continent's fourth-largest economy. Also, the Third Republic's disastrous administration and the time he spent fighting as a NADECO chieftain during the implementation of the mandate from June 12, 1993, marked the beginning of Nigeria's fight for emancipation.

The Monarch declared that Yoruba traditional leaders, as the guardians of cultures and traditions, are more than ready to lead the process of total ownership and support from the Asiwaju-led administration in Nigeria by coordinating with pertinent organizations to emphasize the significance of positive attitudinal change in the minds of Nigerians beginning from our respective domains and communities.

"However, the task is no doubt enormous, but I believe that God who gave him the wisdom to turn Lagos State around, gave the victory at the APC primaries, and ultimate victory at the general elections would give him the wisdom and all the wherewithal required to bring about the needed paradigm shift, to create the expected national platform for real sustainable development of Nigeria that everyone and the coming generations would be proud of."

Politics / Why Taraba Governorship Election Will Be A Walkover Victory For PDP’s Kefas Agbu by Triton1996(m): 4:34pm On Mar 07, 2023
Why Taraba Governorship Election Will Be A Walk-Over Victory Of PDP’s Kefas Agbu

Even though there is tension in almost every state in Nigeria due to the governorship election coming up on Saturday, 11th Of March, 2023, Taraba seems to be the only state without so much tension because the people technically know their next governor is the candidate of the PDP, Kefas Agbu.

This is no because he has the support of the incumbent or the PDP is the ruling party in the state but when we talk about wide acceptance by the people, Kefas Agbu seem to be the only one among other candidates who can boldly say he is widely accepted in the state by every tribe, religion, ethnic groups, sections in the state.

Kefas Agbu is not a novice in the nation’s development, he has contributed immensely to the development of the country right from his days as a military personnel in the Niger-Delta region of the country. He made successful efforts to restore peace to the region at a time when there was so much hostility around. Even in Taraba state, Kefas Agbu’s antecedents have placed him above every other candidate in the election.

For the people of Taraba, electing Kefas Agbu as the next governor of the state is more like handing over the state to someone who is part of them, one who has lived with them, one who has experience, one who knows where the shoe pinches and knows the solution the state needs to move forward. There are other candidates but none of them has the capacity of Kefas Agbu when we talk of nation building, positive contributions to the state, investment in the state, acceptance by the people, among a host of many others.

The wide acceptance Kefas Agbu has was evident in every of his rallies even in places that could be described as the most rural area in Taraba state. Among the candidates, Kefas Agbu is the only one that took his campaigns from the urban areas down to the most rural areas in the state, no one has ever done this successfully. How then won’t the people love him with everything within them?

Apart from his antecedents and wide acceptance, his biggest opponent in the election, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, the candidate of the APC is battling with the court to mandate INEC to include his name in the ballot paper. At the moment, the INEC has not recognized him as a contestant in the election following a Supreme Court order that sacked him as a candidate in the election. What this simply means is that the APC doesn’t have any candidate for the governorship election in Taraba state.

Although, the inclusion of Emmanuel Bwacha on the ballot paper will not make any difference to the bright chances of Kefas Agbu. Bwacha, being a senator representing Taraba South, has not spearheaded any significant development in his senatorial districts. He lacks the wide acceptance unlike Kefas Agbu so being on the ballot would even make it more interesting.

As earlier said, the people of Taraba already see their next governor in Kefas Agbu, the election will only be a formality and will be a landslide victory for the PDP.

Politics / APC Taraba Candidate, Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha In BVAS Manipulation Allegation by Triton1996(m): 1:29pm On Mar 06, 2023
The governorship candidate of the APC in Taraba, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha has been exposed in an alleged attempt to manipulate the BVAS device ahead of the governorship election coming up on Saturday, 11th Of March, 2023.

This allegation was revealed by intelligent reports from Taraba, making it known that Bwacha has stored BVAS devices in a building in Jalingo and has perfected plans to thumbprint on them before the election date.

According to the reports, Senator Emmanuel has connived with staffers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to make the plans work, showing his desperation to win the election.

It would be recalled that the Nigeria police force raided the home of the APC governorship candidate in Niger state over reports that he has stored BVAS machines in his house with the aim of thumb printing on them. It appears this is a strategy of the APC candidates especially in places where they know they have slim chances at winning in the governorship elections.

Although, the source didn’t reveal if Senator Emmanuel has started the process of thumb printing but anytime from now, He has planned to start with the assistance of INEC officials who have been paid millions of naira and promised appointments when he fraudulently emerges as the governor of Taraba state.

Despite the fact that the INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu has declared that the governorship elections results will be transmitted electronically, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha has allegedly planned to frustrate the process and ensure the INEC officials make use of manual collation which will lead to massive election rigging in his favour.

The source also revealed that the atrocities of Sen Emmanuel Bwacha began when he became a senator representing Taraba South senatorial district. His impact was never felt in the senatorial district and he has been accused severally of squandering money on frivolities rather than empowering his people. He reportedly bought mansions in Abuja and spent millions of naira on his uncountable mistresses.

The source urged the police and security agents to stand their grounds during the election to avoid the mandate of the people from being stolen.

Politics / Rigging Claims Trail Sen Emmanuel Bwacha Ahead Of Taraba Election by Triton1996(m): 2:04pm On Mar 04, 2023
APC Candidate, Sen Emmanuel Bwacha’s Plans To Rig Taraba Governorship Election Uncovered

Despite the public outcry of rigging against the ruling party in the just concluded presidential elections, some governorship candidates of the All progressive congress are still hell-bent on manipulating the governorship election coming up on Saturday, 11th Of March, 2023 in their favour.

Among these people is the governorship candidate of the APC in Taraba, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha who emerged in a very controversial manner.

There are intelligent reports that Senator Emmanuel Bwacha has perfected plans to rig the governorship election in his favour after obviously seeing that he isn’t the people’s choice. He has reportedly held meetings with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and paid millions of dollars to enable them to assist him rig the election.

Unfortunately, the INEC resident electoral commissioner in the state has been compromised and already promised to assist the senator rig the election against the people’s will. It was also reliably gathered that INEC ad-hoc staff have been settled already and this is why Senator Bwacha isn’t working hard on his campaigns; He is relying on the support of INEC to get him victory fraudulently.

Apart from the INEC aspect, Senator Bwacha has allegedly employed a series of thugs to impersonate police officers during the election and cause a security upset that will favour him in the election. He intends to use his influence as a serving senator to manipulate the system and also get financial aids from his politician friends within the ruling party for the purpose of votes buying

It was also alleged that Senator Bwacha has bought a house in Dongo Local government to store manipulated BVAS devices which will be used to perpetrate his acts in the election.

Senator Bwacha, according to the reports, is doing all these because he isn’t the people’s favourite having spent years in the national assembly without doing any life-changing project for his people.

We are calling on the police to take the Taraba state governorship election seriously even if it entails changing the commissioner of police days before the election.

Politics / Why Kefas Agbu Should Be The Next Governor Of Taraba State by Triton1996(m): 3:10pm On Mar 01, 2023
Why Kefas Agbu Should Be The Next Governor Of Taraba State

‘’When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn’’, the people of Taraba will be made to choose what they want between joy and sadness on Saturday, 11th of March, 2023 during the governorship election.

There are several candidates from different political parties that are eyeing the number one seat in the state but among them all, Kefas Agbu of the People Democratic Party stands out.

Considering how he emerged the candidate of the PDP, one would agree that indeed, he has the hands of God on his ambition to rule the state, it’s not just a personal project but one that is divinely orchestrated. His candidacy was fought but alas, the elect of the Lord became victorious.

Taraba state is at a critical stage where only the Lord’s anointed can save it, there are so many wrongs waiting to be corrected, so many needs of the people waiting to be met, the people have been clamouring for a better government and their tears have reached the heavens, Kefas Agbu is that man appointed to wipe their tears away.

To confirm all of these, about eight parties collapsed their structures for Kefas Agbu yesterday. The parties while speaking on the surprise development explained that the manifesto and track record of the PDP candidate inspired them to make the move.

Also, Kefas Agbu’s antecedents is by far richer than any other candidate in the race with him. As a former military personnel, Kefas made successful efforts to restore peace in the Niger Delta region, imagine how much peace would reign in Taraba when he becomes the governor.

In all ramifications, Kefas Agbu deserves to become the next governor of Taraba state. He has proven records as an intelligent administrator and assuredly, Taraba would be a better place when he emerges. Therefore, whoever the cap fits, Let him wear it. Kefas Agbu should be the next governor of Taraba state.
