Osun Monarch, Olowu Of Kuta Warns Critics To Desist From Media Terrorism Against Buratai




A foremost Osun Traditional Ruler and Chairman Council of Owu Monarchs, Oba Hammed Adekunle Makama, Tuesday contended that attribution of a house in Wuse, Abuja, where operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) raided and recovered huge cash and other luxury items to the former Chief of Army Staff, Ambassador Tukur Yusuf Buratai was a smear campaign.







The Olowu of Kuta kingdom has also described the attack as a “media terrorism against Buratai but urged those behind it to desist from the attack.”







Speaking during a press conference in his palace at Owu -Kuta on Tuesday, Oba Makama said those behind the attack on the person of Ambassador Buratai sponsored blackmail after several unsuccessful attempts to get him removed from office before his time.






Olowu flanked by other traditional rulers in Osun State said he’s ready to support any Nigerian that’s patriotic and have shown enough commitment to the unity of Nigeria like Buratai.





Describing the attempt by some faceless groups to tarnish the image of the former chief of army staff as effort in futility, the foremost traditional ruler said Buratai is of unimpeachable character worthy of emulation.







According to him “Let it be known that we have credible information that several faceless NGO (Non Governmental Organizations) have been paid to embark on campaign of calumny and destruction against the person of Buratai.







He opined that those trying to pull him him down Will have so many of Traditional Rulers to contend with, hence he urged those involved to desist from this Media terrorism.







“The misinforming reports, I stand to confirm, is purely malicious and another fabricated tale published to tarnish Ambassador Buratai’s brilliant image. But, this too has failed, because the ICPC’s official public statement has confirmed Buratai has no link with the said property or the cash and other items found in the building.”







Oba Makama attributed the attack on Ambassador Buratai to his milestone in the military as the longest serving chief.







“As you rightly know, Ambassador Buratai is not from Kuta. He is not an Owu person, but I stand for integrity. God himself has covered Buratai with garment of honour.







“He has neither own a house in Wuse. I pray they desist. I am supporting him with this address to the press, since I can always vouch for his excellent character and uncommon integrity. A Yoruba axiom says ‘if you pursue someone and you did not meet him, you make detour’.







“His years of meritorious service to his fatherland cannot be overlooked and as a patriot, having been tested and proven in his commitment to nation building.







“Ambassador Buratai has and is still serving Nigeria without any blemish despite the unwarranted attacks having chosen to serve without bias which is fetching him commendations almost on a regular basis.







“I make bold to say that Ambassador Buratai remains a man of immense honour. Therefore, he needs the support of all well-meaning Nigerians to succeed in his current assignment, notwithstanding the avoidable distractions.”






Oba Makama thereafter called on Nigerians to support Buratai to succeed in his bid to salvage the country at his present place of duty, rather than joining in the pull-him-down antics of those bent on smearing his hard earned honour and integrity.

Emir of Keffi Set To Turban Buratai as Garkuwan



The Emir of keffi, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa III in conjunction with the Keffi Emirate council is set to turban His Excellency, (Lt.Gen.Rtd) Ambassador Tukur Yusufu Buratai, former chief of Army staff as Garkuwan Keffi.


Information available to us revealed that the turbaning ceremony will hold on Friday, July 8th, 2022 at the Emir's palace, keffi, Nasarawa state by 2:30pm.




According to our source, the choice of Ambassador Buratai as the new Garkuwan was based on his spectacular achievements and contributions to Keffi and Nigeria in general.




It would be recalled that the Former Chief of Army Staff, Retired Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai was conferred with an honorary chieftaincy title of Jagunmolu of Sakiland.He received the instruments/Certificate of Office from the Okere of Saki, Oba Khalid Oyedepo on Saturday, May 7th, 2022.





He was also conferred with the traditional tittle of Kauran Gusau, by the Emir of Gusau, Dr. Ibrahim Bello.


The tittle according to the emir was born out of the COAS efforts in stemming banditry; coupled with his zeal to quell insurgency in the northern part of the country.

MY attention has been drawn to a recent publication on webpage of sahara reporters titled “EXCLUSIVE: Anti-graft Agency, ICPC Uncovers Billions In Cash Meant For Arms, Ammunition To Fight Boko Haram In Abuja Home Of Ex-Chief Of Army Staff, Buratai”which was published on23/06/2022.

I have gone through the said Publication and have interfaced with Ambassador T.Y.Buratai and can authoritatively say the content of the publication is false, concocted and malicious.

It is on record that on or about 5th April 2018 President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the purchase of equipment worth $1bn for the military through the Ministry of Defence.It is a fact that first batch of Six Super Tucano fighter jets arrived Nigeria July 22, 2021 while final batch of the 12 A-29 Super Tucano fighter jets arrived October 18, 2021. No Arms fund is ever missing contrary to some previous mischievous publications.

For the records no such amount (#850M or any similar sum) was found with Ambassador Buratai nor does he have any Aide bearing such name. Ambasador Buratai has no office or house in Wuse Abuja(address not supplied by SR) nor does he have any bulletproof cars, BMW, G-Wagon (Particulars of vehicle not also supplied by SR) worth N450m and neither is ICPC investigating any such.

We view this as an orchestrated act aimed at tarnishing the image of LT General T.Y Buratai and we shall take all legal steps to hold the publishers accountable for such grievious character assassination on the image of LT.T.Y Buratai(RTD).

Primate Ayodele Releases Fresh Prophecies On Telecommunication, Sports, Others

The Leader Of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele has released fresh prophecies on the telecommunication, sports and railway sectors in Nigeria and the African continent.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele warned the Nigerian communication commission (NCC) against taking steps that will run the telecommunication sector into serious crisis.

He revealed that he foresees another indigenous telecommunication company coming up from the northern region of the country but stated that Glo will always stay afloat among others.

Speaking on Glo, Primate Ayodele made it known that the company has God’s backing and that no amount of scandals will be able to bring it down. He however advised them to stay focused and courageous as he foresees the company taking over several states in the country and the African continent.

‘’The Nigerian communication commission must not take a step that will run telecommunication into crisis or troubles, they should be mindful against increment of VAT on telecommunication, It will not be suitable.’’

On other telecommunication companies, Primate Ayodele warned MTN against taking wrong steps, Airtel against getting new device that won’t be favourable and 9mobile against indictment.

‘’MTN must be watchful against steps that will back fire against the company. I see mass retention and inferno, the company should pray.’’
‘’9mobile will have problems in September and October, and they must pray not to be bereaved. Some of their staffers will be indicted’’

On Sports, Primate Ayodele warned the current NFF president, Amaju Pinnick not to be tempted to contest for a third term in office because it will kill the Nigerian football. He went ahead to mention that God has ordained Alh Ibrahim Gusau to become the next NFF president and that during his tenure, Nigeria will lift the African cup of nations.

Continuing, He asked Nigerians to pray against the death of a Nigerian footballer and death in the glass house.

‘’Amaju Pinnick should not go for a third term, if he goes, Nigerian football will die. The only person God has ordained to lead the NFF is Alh Ibrahim Gusau, he is the best man for the job that can take Nigerian football to glory. I remember saying at the beginning of this year that God spoke to me concerning 2023 and he said it is a year of mystery, I see light in darkness and darkness in light. I still stand on that position of what God said to me that we need to be very careful especially prophets, we should be very careful because it’s a mysterious year. Even me, I only see part of what God has shown me.’’

Prophet Joshua Iginla revealed that he is not going to mention the name of the next president of the country as he isn’t coming from that angle but what God has shown him which Nigerians need to pray about. He spoke in parables while noting that he is afraid to say what he saw.

Prophet Iginla asked Nigerians to pray for the current leaders to finish well and for the 2023 election to go smoothly without any roadblock and manipulation. He made it known that Nigerians need to pray against a conspiracy theory which is pregnant with a lot of meanings.

Continuing, He urged Nigerians to pray against the enemies of the country making moves that will make history repeat itself in an alarming form.

‘’Many are expecting me to mention a name but I’m coming from another perspective and this part is what we should pray about. I will speak in parable because I am afraid to say what I saw.’’

Prince Babatunde Saliu Crowned The New Oloworo Of Oworosoki

The moment was magical and historic, as Prince Babatunde Saliu was crowned to take over the throne of his forebears in Oworosoki Kingdom.



After several months of tussle on who takes over the throne as the King of the Oworosoki after the demise of the Late Bashiru Oloruntoyin Saliu as the Oloworo of Oworosoki, who takes over the saddle became a major issue of discuss.



However, fortunes smiled on Prince Babatunde Saliu, who was crowned the New King of Oworosoki in a private ceremony held at the office of the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
He was presented a Certificate that confirmed his Installation as the New Oloworo Of Oworosoki Kingdom.


A delighted Prince Babatunde Saliu could not hold back is joy, as he felt fulfilled to have succeeded his Father.

....Accord Party Berates Governor Oyetola’s Administration



Chairman, The Osun Progressives, TOP, Elder Adelowo Adebiyi, has labeled the Governor Gboyega Oyetola administration as a failed one for performing below expectations and not leveraging on the good works of his predecessor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregebsola.

In a chat with the Nigerian Guild of Investigative Journalists, NGIJ, during its ongoing Governance Assessment Tour in the State, Adebiyi said it is disheartening to see that Governor Oyetola who was the Chief of Staff to the current Minister of Interior while he was in the saddle, failed to build on the legacies of Aregbesola.

He said the Governor who is seeking re-election for a second term is alleged to have failed to carry major stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state who are loyal to Aregbesola along in governance, prompting the Osun Progressives to queue behind Moshood Adeoti to succeed the incumbent Governor.

He revealed that the recent APC governorship primary in the state which made Governor Oyetola the APC candidate in the forthcoming Osun gubernatorial election is already a subject of litigation in the state High Court.

In his words, "Governor Oyetola has performed below expectations, I believe this government should have built on the achievements of the past administration rather than trying to destroy the legacies of the past government which incidentally is of the same party.

"For example rather than embarking on a massive food production in the State, the government is busy sharing food to the people every month. How sustainable is that?

"The APC has been in power in the State for the past 12 Years, and for eight years it performed brilliantly in terms of infrastructure and people oriented policies, but the past three and half years under Oyetola has been appalling.

“Instead of the Governor to invite investors to develop the State by creating an enabling environment and eradicating poverty in the state, he is busy fighting with Aregbesola and those who he perceives to be close to him”, he said.

Adebisi added that the policy formulation of the present government is not in line with the needs of Osun people.

“The State economy is in dire need of resuscitation, sadly, the state of Osun is not benefiting from the anchors borrowers initiative of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, which targets massive food production for states across the country”, he noted.

The former APC Chairman in the state said Governor Oyetola is owing pensioners who has served the State for several years and ought to be enjoying the dividends of their service, but are wallowing in penury due to the insensitivity of the Governor to their plight.

“It is really pathetic for the Osun State Pensioners to be going through this hardship under Governor Oyetola. If the Governor needs to source for loan to pay these Pensioners he should do so and stop impoverishing the people", he added.

Elder Adebiyi however advised that for the sake of the All Progressive Congress in Osun State, there is a need for the governor and Ogbeni Aregbesola to close ranks and find lasting solution to the lingering disagreement in the party before the forthcoming election in the state.

In the same vein, the Secretary of the Accord Party in the State, Alhaji Nasiru Bolarinwa berated Governor Oyetola’s administration, stressing that for the past three years in the saddle, the only thing he has done that is visible is the newly constructed Olaiya bridge in the State.

He added that the governor failed in fulfilling his promise of a free education for the pupils of Osun state, which he said has increased the number of out of school children in the state.

However, when the NGIJ team visited the APC Secretariat in the State to speak with the Party leadership, the team was kept waiting for more than an hour before the team left for another pending engagement.

Lekki Adult Literacy And Vocational Centre Holds Inaugural Graduation, Matriculates 60

The Lekki Adult Literacy And Vocational Centre has held its inaugural graduation ceremony and matriculated about 60 learners.

This was done in an event held on Saturday, 11th of June, 2022 to celebrate the learners and to also kick off the ‘Kick Illiteracy Out Of Lagos’ campaign, an initiative of the conveners of LALVC focused on repairing the faulty foundation of the hopeless by giving them education.

The event had the representative of the Lagos state government, Honourable Tokunbo Wahab, the special adviser to the LASG on education well represented by Mrs Seriki Olayemi, the chairman of Ibeju-Lekki local government, Hon Abdullahi Sesan, a former minister of trade and investment, among a host of many others.

According to coordinator, Deacon Joe Mbulu, the program has a multiplier effect because it will help kick illiteracy out of Lagos. He noted that the program is a 9-month program certified by the Lagos state Educational board while explaining that in the year 2021/2022, over 60 learners had their matriculation and only 25 people were able to pass the examination set by the Lagos state government, he also made it known that over 60 are getting matriculating for the 2021/2022 session.

Mrs Seriki Olayemi, the representative of the Lagos state government lauded the initiative while stating that LALVC is collaborating with the government in pushing illiteracy out of Lagos state. She revealed that the Lagos state government launched the ‘Kick Illiteracy Out Of Lagos’ campaign in 2016 and RCCG through CSR has been able to support the government in that aspect.

‘’This is a very good programme and in most cases, it gives opportunity to those who didn't have opportunities to go to school when they were young. Lagos state on its own part is really trying, all we need is collaborating so by establishing this kind of Centre, they are collaborating with the Lagos state government and in turn, we give learning materials and pay two facilitators.’’

‘’We launched kick illiteracy out of Lagos in 2016, we visited all the local governments and we have 723 centres in Lagos state and we are doing a lot of things to ensure we keep illiteracy out of Lagos state. We also encourage them more so learners can participate in some of our programmes like quiz competition.’’

Also, the chairman of Ibeju-Lekki local government, Hon Abdullahi Sesan applauded the initiative, stating that he was excited seeing that hope has been restored for some who didn’t have the opportunity to have a formal education while growing up.

He advised the graduating students to continue pushing and not look back while calling on organizations to also embrace the need to kick illiteracy out of their communities.

‘’We must congratulate those that have benefited from this initiative and I want to commend the people behind this, they have taken a major step to kick illiteracy out of the community and of course, those that benefited will see a better future. We can see the excitement in their faces, I was happy myself because being in government makes us see the damage illiteracy has done to our community.’’

‘’I advise those graduating not to look back because the foundation has been laid, they have been empowered with knowledge. I call on Lagosians, organizations, and religious organisations to support the government in fighting illiteracy in the state.’’

One of the matriculating students, Gerrard Abiodun made it known that when he joined the programme, many criticized him because he was a bit educated but kept at it because he wants to be a better person that he is presently.

‘’To me, this programme is very good, when I first joined, they told me how they were, they were not able to read but at this moment, they can write and spell on their own, RCCG needs reward for this.If there is anything I want to tell the organizers is that God will continue to bless them, this is the kind of thing we need in the state.’’

‘’This programme isn’t something you should be ashamed of, I’m a teacher and I have been educated but I have never been a graduate. I have seen people criticizing me for coming here but when they see the end result, I know they will celebrate with me.’’

Another matriculating student, Williams revealed that the initiative is a privilege for him in order to repair his faulty condition. He explained that if illiteracy is kicked out of Nigeria, insecurity will not be an issue meaning RCCG CTL province 20 has taken a bold step to end insecurity in Nigeria.

‘’It’s a privilege for us to have this Centre to repair our faulty condition, some of us didn’t have the opportunity earlier but with this programme, we have gotten an enabling environment where we can improve ourselves. I expect to become a better person, have a better education and the same way I have received it, I should replicate and give back to the society.’’

‘’Nigeria is suffering a lot because of illiteracy and many issues we are having is lack of education like banditry, insecurities but by educating myself, I have the opportunity to return what I have received to the society and make Nigeria a better place to be.’’

‘’I want to say a big thank you to RCCG LP 20, it’s a big project but God on our sides, we are able to overcome and move forward.’’

The Lekki Adult Literacy Centre And Vocational Centre launched its kick illiteracy out of Lagos state campaign in a way to empower and restore hope to Lagosians who are interested in learning in order to be valuable to their societies.

The movement, which is one of the Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) of the Redeemed Christian Church Of God (RCCG) LP 20 started in 2020 out of the need to bridge the gap between the elites and ordinary populace who are disadvantaged for lack of education.

His Excellency, Amb. Lt.Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd), former Chief of Army Staff has been honored with Icon of Hope award by a non-governmental organization, Ideal Women Support and Empowerment Foundation in Kaduna.



Buratai was singled out for his iconic nature,empathy, dogged, brave and fearless approach in containing banditry, terrorism and insurgency.





In her remarks, the National President of the prestigious organization, Mrs Palmata Abacha who spoke on behalf of the group, said the award is long over due and is in recognition of his iconic nature and further stated that the Ambassador is a man of strong personality who shows empathy and is always there for people any time his audience is sought after.








She showered praises on him and prayed for Gods blessings over him.





She was accompanied by the Secretary of the Organization Hajjia Gambo Jimeta and another Executive Abigail Maisamari.

His Excellency, Amb. Lt.Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd), former Chief of Army Staff has congratulated Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his victory as the APC presidential flagbearer at the just concluded primaries.



Buratai who was the Guest Speaker at the prestigious Arewa Lectures on Saturday, 11th Of June, 2022 at the one-day symposium tagged Politics and Insecurity In Nigeria: Way Forward, described the victory of Tinubu as divine and was also elated that his own principal, Rotimi Amaechi clinched the second position.


In his congratulatory message, he advised Tinubu on the Need to carry Amaechi along and ensure continuity and consolidation of the Buhari development strides.



He also praised Ameachi for putting up such a wonderful performance at the primaries.



It would be recalled that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has emerged as the winner of the party’s presidential primary.

He obtained over 1,271 votes to defeat his closest rivals, ex-minister Rotimi Amaechi and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

While Amaechi polled 316 votes, Osinbajo scored 235 votes.

He contested against thirteen other aspirants – Mr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, Pastor Tunde Bakare, Mr Ahmed Rufai, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Mr Jack Rich, Governor Ben Ayade, Governor David Umahi, Senator Ahmed Yarima, Dr Ahmed Lawan, Osinbajo, Amaechi, Governor Yahaya Bello and Mr Ogbonnaya Onu.

Nine aspirants had earlier stepped down, eight of whom asked their supporters to vote for Tinubu, while one asked his supporters to vote for Osinbajo.

The menace of insecurity beguiling the country could be nip in the bud if the recommendations by His Excellency, Amb. Lt.Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd), former Chief of Army Staff are put in place at a lecture he delivered at the one day symposium on National security organised by AREWA House, Ahmadu Bello University, Kaduna on Saturday, June 11th, 2022.



Themed, Politics and Insecurity in Nigeria: Way Forward, Buratai who is the guest speaker proffered kinetic and non-kinetic measures which are fundamental to totally eradicating insecurity in our society.




As the Guest Speaker at the prestigious Arewa Lectures which Buratai confirmed his position as a credible spokesperson on politics and security issues in Nigeria. This is not unconnected to his experience as a veteran in the army after over two decades of services and most recently his sojourn in politics recently at the APC primaries where his principal, Rotimi Amaechi came second.


In his objective report, he highlighted Nigeria's democracy since 1999 and the challenge of insecurity facing us as insurgency and terrorism, banditry and kidnapping, farmers and herdsmen clashes and agitation for succession.



Buratai reiterated his stance that National security is a collective responsibility and various state institutions have different roles in combating the menace of insecurity challenges in the country expecially the role of governments at all levels, the judiciary, the AFN,the Nigerian police and the intelligence organisation.

Nine aspirants had earlier stepped down, eight of whom asked their supporters to vote for Tinubu, while one asked his supporters to vote for Osinbajo.

Those who stepped down before voting began are Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa, Robert Boroffice, Ken Nnamani, Ibikunle Amosun, Dimeji Bankole, Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi and Godswill Akpabio.

They asked their supporters to vote for Tinubu, just as the only female aspirant, Mrs Uju Ken-Ohanenye, followed suit.

Governor Wike Embarrassed At PDP Primaries After Primate Ayodele Warned Him Against His Presidential Ambition

The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike was shockingly defeated yesterday at the just concluded PDP presidential primaries which held at Abuja.

Wike was set to win the primary in order to become the party's flag bearer for the 2023 presidential election till Governor Tambuwal of Sokoto state stepped down and backed Atiku Abubakar, another top aspirant.

Unfortunately for Wike, Atiku was declared winner of the election at around 11pm, just three hours after Tambuwal stepped down for him.

Meanwhile, popular Prophet, Primate Elijah Ayodele had warned the governor not to contest for the presidency because he will not win. Primate Ayodele was quoted advising Wike to pursue the Vice President slot instead of the presidential.

The man of God went further to say Wike should find someone among the prominent politicians to support while he becomes the running mate.

Supreme Court judgment vindicates Amaechi – Media office

The media office of the former governor of Rivers state and presidential aspirant under the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Rotimi Amaechi, has said that the Nigeria’s apex court (Supreme Court ) today ruled on the appeal filed by Amaechi against the Rivers State Government on the Justice Omereji Judicial Commission of Inquiry.




The Supreme Court in dismissing the Appeal however pronounced that the function of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry was mere investigative, that nobody, neither Amaechi nor anyone else, was on trial before the panel.

In a statement sent to Vanguard, Amaechi’s media office stated that “The Supreme Court ruling clearly vindicates the former Governor of Rivers State. The apex court was categorical and clear that Amaechi was not on trial. The implication of this is that any indictment from the Commission is null and void and cannot stand.





With this judgment, Amaechi has been vindicated and cleared him of all purported or alleged indictment by the Governor Wike’s Commission. It has been further settled that the decisions/recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry and subsequent White Paper issued by the State Government is not a conviction or indictment and cannot stand.

“From the onset, it was obvious to any discerning mind that the Commission was set up to embarrass, denigrate and humiliate Amaechi. The apex court judgment today, further buttressed this stance. A Commission purportedly set up to investigate past financial transactions was actually a Commission to personally witch-hunt Amaechi.”

Amaechi has been zeroed on by political pundits as the most sellable and prepared aspirant within the ranks of the APC. Besides meeting the benchmark of outstanding service as a minister, many also averred that he stands as a fitting bridge between the old and younger generation and that at 56 years, he can birth the much-talked generational shift in the political leadership of Nigeria.


Regarded as a home-grown leader who has a breathtaking background as an astute politician and an achiever in public service, Amaechi, a pan-Nigerian administrator, has convincing records showing his capacities and past achievements in fixing spiraling youth unemployment, lethargic educational system, insecurity, economy, uniting ethnics and regions, crises in the power and energy sectors, among others.

Since pitching tent with partisan politics, Amaechi has held many positions, both at the state and national levels. He was Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly for two terms, governor for two terms and he just served his second term as minister, having just resigned last Monday to concentrate on his presidential bid. With his experience and exposure in holding key offices in government for the last 23 years, his supporters believe it is time for him to run for the highest office in Nigeria – the presidency.

Earlier in the year, the conferment of Amaechi with the prestigious Dan Amanar Daura (the trusted son of Daura) by President Buhari’s kinsmen in Katsina, amplified the impression that the former Minister of Transportation is the chosen one by the president and the APC.

For those in the know, the honour was one well deserved given the level of development the minister had attracted to the state as well as the North, and by extension for the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. As a core party man, Amaechi has put his heart and passion into the affairs of the APC. He served twice as the Director-General of the Buhari-Osinbajo Presidential Campaign Committee for both 2015 and 2019 presidential elections.

After Buhari emerged in 2014, the permutations appear to be in favour of Amaechi as the running mate to Buhari, but a then little known Prof. Yemi Osinbajo was eventually picked. However, Amaechi was not daunted by this as he dutifully conducted his task as the campaign director-general, mobilising funds and support for Buhari, especially in the South-South region, which is a PDP stronghold



Staying loyal to the president and the party, Buhari rewarded the former governor with a juicy appointment – Minister of Transportation. As Minister, Amaechi implemented the president’s policy of reviving the rail sector. He did this by encouraging the president to obtain controversial but low-interest loans from China worth about $3bn. Several rail projects were launched in different parts of the country, while those started by Jonathan’s administration were completed. He also supervised the construction of a railway from Nigeria into the Niger Republic, a move which the president has commended on several occasions.

When he took over as the Minister of Transportation, his first approach, as is usual of him, was to carry out “human capacity audit” to ascertain the strength and weakness of each staff, especially within the senior and managerial workforce. Secondly, he determined the policy framework and target goals of the Ministry, as envisioned in the Mandate and Agenda of Mr. President. Immediately, the Ministry established its own Strategy for achieving the target goals and then setup a Roadmap for implementing the Strategy. Automatically, everyone knew his role and those who could not fit into the roadmap and speed of the Ministry found their way out, without necessarily causing a feud with either the Minister or the Permanent Secretary, as appeared the case in some other ministries. His third step was the liberalization of communication channels; Directors and Deputy Directors could access the Honourable Minister, including other staff, but in a manner that did not undermine established official reporting lines. The sole aim was to fast track and ease communication within the Ministry and amongst the comprising parastatals.

For analysts, the secret of Amaechi’s success as Minister, perhaps, was the fact that he had been a Governor, who not only did exceptionally well in terms of infrastructural development but also knew how to drive growth and development. Between 2008 to 2015, the period when Amaechi held forth in Rivers State, the State was described by both national and international observers as “huge construction site”, with the construction of over 200 Health Centres, 500 Primary Schools, 9 Secondary Schools etc, all state of the art, and went on at the same time. These were outside the Roads (including a dualised network 1500km of roads, 23 bridges, 2 major flyovers, 2 interchanges, etc), Agriculture (including rehabilitation of the over 30,000 hectares of Rivers State Oil Palm plantation -moribund RISONPALM, the Songhai Farm, over 2,000 hectares of Banana Farm at Tai; commercial-scale Fish Farm at Buguma, etc), Waste Management, Entertainment infrastructures all of which went on simultaneously.

Amaechi’s Security Architecture for the State was also second to none, as the State became a Security Model in the country: kidnapping, armed robbery, and cult-related activities all reduced to less than one percent. Under his watch, Rivers State established and set up an integrated Security Network, with a central Command, Control, Communication, Computer and Intelligent (C4I), a 24hours Camera System that watched over Port Harcourt City. And to close the final loop, the Rivers State Government had ordered for the delivery of two Civilian Security Bell Helicopters before he exited Office in May 2015. The slogan in his time was Rivers State where “you sleep with your two eyes closed”.

According to Wikipedia, Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi was born on May 27, 1965. He previously served in Rivers State as Governor of Rivers State from 2007 to 2015 and Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 1999 to 2007.

Amaechi, who holds the national honour of the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), belongs to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He had his early education at St Theresa’s Primary School from 1970 to 1976 and earned his West African Senior School Certificate in 1982 after attending Government Secondary School Okolobiri.

Amaechi received a Bachelor of Arts degree (Honours) in English Studies and Literature from the University of Port Harcourt in 1987, where he was the President of the National Union of Rivers State Students (NURSS).


He ompleted the mandatory National Youth Service Corps in 1988, and thereafter joined Pamo Clinics and Hospitals Limited owned by Peter Odili, where he worked until 1992. He also a director of several companies, including West Africa Glass Industry Limited and Risonpalm Nigeria Limited.

His incursion into politics began during the transition to the Third Nigerian Republic as he was Secretary of the National Republican Convention in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Between 1992 and 1994, he was Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili – his boss believed in Amaechi as a young man with potential in politics, and brought him under his wing.

In 1996, he was the Rivers State’s Secretary of the Democratic Party of Nigeria (DPN) caretaker committee during the transition programme of General Sani Abacha. In 1999, he contested and won a seat to become a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly to represent his constituency.

He is married to Judith Amaechi, and they are blessed with three boys.

Clearly, Rotimi Amaechi is literally a colossus in the race to succeed President Buhari. He has the pedigree, network, resilience, and capacity to win against the opposition and also reinvent the fortunes of Nigeria. If anyone can lift the needle for APC in the 2023 general elections, then it is the former Minister of Transportation.

N80BN Fraud: How Primate Ayodele Warned Accountant-General In Annual Prophecy Book

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris, in connection with alleged diversion of funds and money laundering to the tune of N80 Billion.

This came as a surprising development because there was no pointer beforehand and it wasn’t known to the public that Mr Ahmed Idris was on the watch of the EFCC for corruption related cases.

Even as surprising at it seem when the news of his arrest broke out, it didn’t meet the followers of popular prophet, Primate Ayodele uninformed because the man of God had warned the office of the accountant general of corruption allegation in his annual prophecy book titled ‘Warnings To The Nations.’

The book, which is released annually by Primate Ayodele features prophetic warnings to nations around the world and it’s not just about the politics or government alone. It’s an all-encompassing publication that features even the aspect of the society that isn’t given so much attention. This prophecy book warns on politics, sports, corporate organizations, education, individuals, government establishments, government parastatals, among a host of many others.

The last edition which is for 2021/2022 was released in July last year which means the one for 2022/2023 will be released very soon.
In the 2021/2022 edition, Primate Ayodele spoke on what will befall the office of the accountant general of the federation, while stating that he foresees a corruption enquiry at the federal level against the office. This could be found on page 23 of the prophecy book.

Almost a year after Primate Ayodele released this prophecy book, the accountant general of the federation, Mr Ahmed Idris was arrested by the EFCC for corruption charges, as the man of God accurately warned.

2023 and the Contentious Issue APC Must Confront

For the APC, the 2023 presidential elections present a real test of its ability to survive and forge a unified front as a political organisation. The Buhari era is about to end, and the hitherto unifying figure of a Buhari that appears to have glued the disparate tendencies in the party together will no longer be there. Already, the commencement of the process of picking the party’s candidate for the 2023 contest has shown glaringly that the contest will be brutal and acidic, unless a miracle happens. Since the party’s initial objective of booting out PDP and gaining power has been achieved in the Buhari two-term presidency, 2023 will signal for the party the real wheeling and dealing of ruthless ambition driven by self-aggrandizement among its contending power blocs. 

Even now, allegations of betrayal, vociferous proclamation of personal ambitions and dirty innuendoes about imposition of candidates have started reaching an uncomfortable level in the party. 

Regardless of the drama and subplots that have started unfolding, it is for the party and Nigerians generally to zero in on a candidate that has the right mix of persona, charisma, vision, discipline, awareness and courage to keep the party and the country in good shape post 2023.

The task may be daunting but what the party needs to do is clear cut. This is because the problems a post Buhari president will confront are already here with us now.

One, with continuous fall in oil prices and a general lull in business activity since the outbreak of COVID-19, the economic realities have been worsened by the growing poverty and unemployment which has made upward social mobility unachievable for the wider population. The Nigeria Bureau of Statistics has continued to record staggering inflation rates, with food inflation and general cost of living growing out of hand and, according to the World Poverty Clock, nearly half of the Nigerian population currently subsist in extreme poverty. In fact, the Brookings Institute has predicted the figure to rise to 110 million by 2030.

 

Two, the generality of Nigerian citizens are disillusioned that the current administration has not succeeded in its efforts to deliver democratic economic gains, better governance, and to tackle corruption and insecurity decisively. Thus, loss of confidence in the government and the party is very high.

The initial public upbeat mood that greeted government’s fight against corruption at incipient following the introduction of revolutionary measures such as the Treasury Single Account (TSA) to reduce leakages has, sadly, evaporated today, leading to growing frustration. 

Three, more than ever before, Nigeria is looking incapable of taming the intractable insecurity situation in the land as citizens shiver due to increased attacks from bandits, kidnappers and terrorist groups. Kidnappings have reached a crisis point with increased scale and frequency. Call for balkanization of the country along ethnic lines has also been gaining traction.

Arising from the growing citizen frustration, it is clear that whoever the party chooses to replace President Buhari in 2023 must have the dexterity, knowledge and empathy required to manage the potentially game-changing citizen advocacy led by a historically apathetic middle class that has woken up to bark and bite. This awakened group will definitely offer a more coordinated and sophisticated challenge to the status quo than Nigeria has ever had to manage before. Of course, because social media and digital have also come to offer more ammunition for the citizens in their growing anti-establishment consciousness, it cannot be business as usual and the party cannot afford not to take into consideration these new paradigms and dynamics as it prepares for life in government after Buhari. 

The challenge therefrom is that from its array of political gladiators that have indicated interest in the job, APC has to pick the one that most fits the profile of a 21st Century public administrator and politically astute servant-leader. 

Although, it is a tough call, the party’s best materials for now appear to be Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Governor Kayode Fayemi. In terms of finesse, experience, capability, age and ability to cross-connect the various critical population segments, the three stand out from the pack. 

If APC is to respect and espouse the principles of fairness, equity and national cohesion by fielding a Southern candidate after President Buhari’s eight years, any of the three stand a chance of recreating and shoring up the party’s brand fortune.

However, it is an open secret in political circles across the South West that, unlike the Vice President and the Ekiti State governor who have been described by informed political watchers as tacit fall back options for the vaunted Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu ambition that appears to be hitting a political brick wall, Senator Amosun offers the party more gravitas and believability, especially among the segment of the population who still hold on to the notion that APC was created as a political vehicle to advance the personal ambition of the founding fathers and not to move Nigeria forward genuinely.   

This is because out of the three gentlemen, it is only Amosun that is regarded as a true politician with a mind of his own and not a creation and/or disciple of the Tinubu School of Politics. Political watchers point at the fact that no one has been able to stick the disloyal, betrayer, Judas Iscariot and ingratitude labels on Amosun as done by the BAT crowd on the other two as a justification of the respect and political sagacity which the former Ogun State governor parades in the South west political space.

There was outburst of emotion as father and son reconciled their protracted feud in the quest to move Abia state forward. Godfather Orji uzo Kalu and his political son, Amb. Chijioke Okoro finally put their differences beside in a very emotional and admirable manner.

The General Overseer of Champions Royal Assembly, Prophet Joshua Iginla has spoken on the 2023 presidency and where he feels the next president of Nigeria should come from.The amiable clergy stated that his opinion was borne out of the love for the country and the  unity and practice of true federalism in the nation.



In a live service at his Abuja church, the popular man of God noted that not everyone vying for the post of the presidency carries the light for Nigeria, explaining that electorate have also been blindfolded by money that can deceive the nation from picking true leaders.


He stated that the unity is Nigeria is non-negotiable and if truly the country wants unity, the next president of Nigeria should come from South East being the most deprived region since the inception of a democratic government in the country.
He explained that the agitations coming from the South East region is a result of being sidelined over the years and that to balance it, the next president of Nigerian should come from the region.
‘’Everybody wants to become president but how many how them carry the light for Nigeria and those that carry the light, the electorate might not want to elect them because they don’t see the light, they see money and money is a deception that cannot  make us pick true leaders.Whether you are a delegate or an electorate, Why sell your votes for peanuts to a man that will slave you for the next four years? The problem of Nigeria isn’t the problem of we not knowing truth, we know truth but we prefer to walk in darkness rather than truth.’’

‘’When we are talking about the unity of this country which is non-negotiable yet what is the problem? How do you enter a marriage agreement and one side of the region is suffering yet you don’t allow them to produce president, then you are complaining about agitation, why will they not agitate? The south east have been so deprived, you cannot be talking about one nigeria when everytime you want to pick a president, you say the Igbo man isn’t qualified yet you want them to be in the marriage, this is the problem of the Biafra agitation, if you cannot solve that problem, you will still have more Nnamdi Kanu agitating.’’
‘’I’m a Yoruba man but why would the south west continue to be in power, why will the north continue to be in power then the major language you tell them is you don’t trust them, if you don’t trust them then why are you keeping them? Leave them, let them go, give them the opportunity to prove themselves. ‘’


Also, the man of God spoke on the continued detention of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu. He postulated  that he is not in support of the division of this country but  advised the government to release him to unite the country even in the midst of this gross division. He frowned at the decision of the government to give presidential pardon to some known criminals and Boko Haram repentant without considering Nnamdi Kanu who only agitated for the independence of  a region as a result of being sidelined


‘’Every regime has its own achievement, for me, as a citizen, we are so divided now, there is a tiny line between Unity and disunity. Of recent, I read in the news that the government of the day granted some prisoners presidential pardon, that’s a welcome idea but sometimes I ask myself if those ideas are factors in the unity of this country, while you are giving people presidential pardon, why can’t you give people like Nnamdi Kanu? A pardon that can unite the country, if the Igbos are aggrieved, we have to do things that can make this country united. An average igbo man will tell you that he doesn’t think he’s part of this country, we are more disunited in this country. ‘’


‘’I’m not an igbo man but this is what is burning in my mind, if people who are stealing money in the country can be given presidential pardon, if people killed and are called repentant Boko haram, why will someone crying for independence of a region not be given pardon and called for dialogue? I just wonder, it is only in Nigeria we see truth like this and turn it the other way, we speak political grammar and look away.’’


Furthermore, Prophet Joshua Iginla urged youths in the country to make use of the strength to bring a change in the country. He frowned at their involvement in social vices which he described as energy channeled towards the wrong direction. He asserted that the youths in the country can determine the next president of Nigeria if they channel the energy well because they have the numbers.


‘’if you look at the population of the youth, you will discover that the youths can determine the person who becomes the president of this country but where do they reign? On social media. Millions of youth will vote on one show but when it comes to our country, all we do is criticize pastors? Pastors are not incharge of the economy and it’s fine that they criticize pastors so we can check ourselves but can they check the government very well? The reason ladies sleep with dogs and young men go into fraud is because the government has failed. The power of the youths can influence but they major on the minor and minor on the major.’’

‘’When you abuse men of God, can you sit down to say we can go this way? I saw a movement during the #ENDSARS protest and I saw how the youth organized themselves, that’s energy okay not energy channeled in the right direction. If the energy rallies around a genuine youth, we will be talking about the third force that can checkmate the two major parties but what is the problem, the youths still don’t understand when we say you are the future of tomorrow, we need to pray for the youth of this country.’’

He said, “The holy month of Ramadan teaches kindness, forgiveness, and sacrifice. We must uphold these teachings and imbibe them as we live together in peace and harmony.

Atawewe also appealed to Islamic clerics to keep educating their followers to exhibit the lesson of the Eid celebration and the importance of fasting.
