PoliticsFive Lessons Opposition Politicians Can Learn From President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by Triton1996(op): 7:37am On May 21

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2d0440eWlE

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains one of the most strategic and influential figures in Nigeria’s political landscape. Whether critics agree with his policies or not, many observers acknowledge that his political journey offers several lessons for opposition politicians seeking relevance, structure, and long-term success.

From his days as governor to becoming President, Tinubu has demonstrated traits that have helped him remain a dominant force in Nigerian politics for decades.

1. Tinubu Is Focused
One of the strongest qualities associated with Tinubu is his ability to stay focused on his political ambitions and long-term goals. For years, he built political structures, nurtured alliances, and expanded his influence across different regions of the country without losing sight of his objectives.

Opposition politicians can learn the importance of consistency and strategic patience. In politics, distractions, emotions, and temporary setbacks can derail ambitions. Tinubu’s rise shows that political success often requires years of planning, persistence, and disciplined focus rather than reacting impulsively to every challenge or criticism.

2. Tinubu Is a Stable Politician
Tinubu has also built a reputation as a politician who rarely appears politically unstable or uncertain. Even during intense political battles, he projects confidence and continuity. Many politicians frequently change alliances, ideologies, or positions for short-term gains, but Tinubu has largely maintained a recognizable political identity and structure over the years.

For opposition figures, stability is important in building trust among supporters and allies. Voters and political stakeholders are more likely to support leaders who appear dependable, organized, and emotionally composed during difficult moments. Political stability also helps in building strong institutions and loyal networks that can survive beyond election cycles.

3. Tinubu Knows How to Spend Money
Politics everywhere in the world requires resources, and Tinubu understands the importance of investing in political relationships, campaigns, grassroots mobilization, and party structures. He has consistently supported political associates, party activities, and strategic movements that strengthen his influence.

Opposition politicians can learn that political success is not achieved by popularity alone. Building a strong political movement requires funding, organization, logistics, and support for loyal supporters. Effective political spending is not merely about lavishness; it is about strategically investing resources where they can strengthen political structures and long-term influence.

4. Tinubu Rewards His Loyalists
Another defining feature of Tinubu’s political style is his willingness to reward loyalty. Over the years, many politicians who stood by him politically have gone on to secure appointments, political opportunities, or influential positions.

This approach has helped him build one of the strongest political networks in Nigeria. Opposition politicians can learn that loyalty is easier to sustain when supporters believe their sacrifices and commitment will eventually be recognized. Strong political structures are often built on trust, mutual benefit, and consistent support between leaders and followers.

5. He Is Fearless and Fierce
Tinubu has repeatedly shown political boldness, even in difficult situations. Throughout his career, he has confronted powerful political opponents, survived major political battles, and remained active despite criticism and pressure.

Opposition politicians can learn the importance of courage and resilience in politics. Leadership often demands tough decisions, public scrutiny, and the willingness to stand firm during crises. Politicians who appear timid or inconsistent may struggle to inspire confidence among supporters. Tinubu’s political journey reflects the value of determination, confidence, and the ability to remain strong under pressurFoc

PoliticsGbajabiamila Cuts Ties With Desmond Elliot In Accordance To Asiwaju’s Directive. by Triton1996(op): 7:52am On May 17
….*As Hon Faleke continues to work against Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s interests in Lagos State*

The political fallout from the controversial impeachment of Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, continues to generate tension within the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed that those lawmakers involved in the crisis should never return to the Assembly in 2027.

To many grassroots loyalists, party elders and influential stakeholders, the impeachment saga was never about legislative independence or democracy. They describe it as a dangerous betrayal of party structure, discipline and loyalty one that embarrassed Lagos State and exposed internal cracks within the ruling party before the entire nation.

The President is particularly angered by the role allegedly played by some lawmakers who openly supported the move against Speaker Obasa despite several interventions from respected party leaders and federal authorities.

Among the names repeatedly mentioned in political discussions across wards and community meetings are Desmond Olushola Elliott, Temitope Adewale JAH, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, Tobun Abiodun, Saheed Wasiu Obafemi and others accused of backing the anti-Obasa movement.

However, insiders within the APC say the biggest political casualty of the crisis may eventually be Desmond Elliott, as reports continue to emerge that the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has completely withdrawn his political support for the Surulere lawmaker over his involvement in the impeachment plot.

According to credible party sources, President Bola Tinubu was deeply displeased with the manner the impeachment issue was handled and reportedly summoned Gbajabiamila to intervene and caution Desmond Elliott against participating in actions capable of destabilizing the Lagos political structure.

Sources further revealed that even the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) allegedly reached out to Gbajabiamila, urging him to warn Desmond Elliott to back down from the impeachment moves in order to avoid escalation of the political crisis.

Despite these warnings and interventions, Desmond Elliott allegedly refused to retrace his steps, a development that reportedly forced Gbajabiamila to distance himself politically from the actor-turned-lawmaker and shift support to another candidate ahead of the 2027 political permutations.

Many APC loyalists now argue that Desmond Elliott can no longer claim the backing of the powerful political structure that once sustained his rise in Lagos politics.

Attention has also shifted heavily toward Hon. Temitope Adewale JAH, whom many party faithful accuse of playing a major role in the anti-Obasa camp.

Across several APC meetings and grassroots engagements, many members reportedly expressed disappointment in Adewale’s actions, insisting that the people of his constituency have already rejected him politically because of what they describe as disloyalty, over-ambition and disregard for party leadership.

However, party insiders allege that despite the growing rejection from the grassroots, Hon. James Faleke is allegedly the major political figure backing Temitope Adewale’s return to the Assembly in total disregard regard of Asiwaju’s directive as heard from the Chief of Staff to the President.

This revelation has reportedly generated fresh anger within sections of the APC, with many questioning why a politician as close to President Tinubu as Faleke would continue supporting a lawmaker accused of participating in activities that allegedly undermined the President’s political structure in Lagos State.

Several stakeholders argue that while Gbajabiamila chose to withdraw his support from Desmond Elliott over the impeachment controversy, it is disturbing that Faleke is allegedly encouraging Temitope Adewale to continue what they described as “unruly political conduct.”

Party loyalists insist that anyone who allegedly betrayed the President, Lagos State and the APC structure because of selfish political ambition should not be rewarded with another ticket in 2027.

The crisis, according to many stakeholders, exposed dangerous cracks within the Assembly and raised serious questions about loyalty, discipline and respect for party hierarchy.

Grassroots mobilizers maintain that this is no longer about personal friendship or political alliances but about preserving the integrity of the APC structure in Lagos.

According to them, lawmakers who allegedly fueled internal rebellion cannot be trusted with another mandate because their actions weakened the party before the public and created avoidable embarrassment in President Tinubu’s home state.

Some party members believe first-term lawmakers may have acted under influence or pressure, but they insist that ranking members and coordinators of the impeachment movement knew exactly what they were doing and should face political consequences for it.

The mood within many APC circles remains clear: loyalty must have meaning, and accountability cannot be selective.

As 2027 approaches, party faithful say the APC primaries will become a major test of loyalty, discipline and respect for the political structure that has sustained Lagos politics for decades.

While the impeachment crisis may have ended officially on paper, many believe its political consequences are only beginning — and some lawmakers involved may soon discover that the grassroots have not forgotten.

CrimeAlleged $1.5m Fraud: Court Dismisses Bail Application Of Investment Holdings Bos by Triton1996(op): 10:26pm On May 08
Alleged $1.5m Fraud: Court Dismisses Preliminary Objections, Bail Application of Intermediate Investment Holdings Boss, Ufoma Joseph Immanuel in Lagos

Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Thursday, May 7, 2026, dismissed the preliminary objections and bail application filed by the boss of Intermediate Investment Holdings Limited, Ufoma Joseph Immanuel, over an alleged $1.5 million fraud.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, arraigned Immanuel, alongside his company, Intermediate Investment Holdings Ltd., on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence and forgery to the tune of $1.5m.

Count one reads: “UFOMA JOSEPH IMMANUEL and INTERMEDIATE INVESTMENT HOLDINGS LIMITED between April 2022 and October 2023 in Lagos,  within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, induced Adebisi Adebut of R28 Holdings Limited to deposit the total sum of S1, 500, 000.00 (One Million, five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars USD) as investment described as to wit: "Cash and or Capital Cost in Chappal Petroleum Development Company Limited; Business Development Cost in Intermediate Investment Holdings Limited: Capital and or Capital Call in Chappal Energies Mauritius Limited" on the understanding that R28 Holdings Limited will be; (a) reimbursed the investment amount (b) paid a Development Capital fee of $2 250,000.00. (Two Million, Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars) (c) 22.4% worth of shares in Intermediate Investment Holdings Limited which representation you knew to be false.”

Count two reads: “UFOMA JOSEPH IMMANUEL, sometime between April 2022 and April 2025 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, forged a document to wit: TERM SHEET and purporting same to have been executed by Sherrif Oluwo and Olaniran Osotuyi in order to facilitate your obtaining money by inducement from Adebisi Adebutu of R28 Holdings Limited.”

The defendant pleaded “not guilty” to the charge preferred against him.

Following the defendant’s “not guilty” plea, the prosecution counsel, Babatunde Sonoiki, asked the court to fix a date for the commencement of trial and also prayed the court to remand the defendant  in the custody of the International Criminal Police Organization, INTERPOL, pending the conclusion of  its investigation.

Sonoiki also narrated how the defence counsel,  Oluseun Awonuga, SAN, had physically assaulted his colleague, Emenike Mgbemele, at the sitting on March 2, 2026.

According to him, “My lord, the learned silk, physically assaulted my colleague on the staircase on his way to serve the defendant the charge as directed by the court.

“There is a video to that effect and we intend to tender it before the court.”

Though Awonuga did not respond to the allegation made against him by the prosecution counsel, he informed the court of a preliminary objection and a written address dated January 5, 2026, while urging the court to discountenance the counter-affidavit of the prosecution.

The prosecution, in a 21-paragraph counter-affidavit dated February 9, 2026, had urged the court to dismiss the notice of preliminary objections.

According to Awonuga, the Federal High Court, in a ruling, had ordered the  EFCC not to arrest the defendant.

"EFCC has flouted the order by arresting the defendant and I hereby urge your lordship to discountenance their counter- affidavit," he said.

Responding, the prosecution counsel, Babatunde Sonoiki, said that the ruling was part of the motion that  had earlier been withdrawn by the defence and should not be before the court.

“ There is nowhere in the ruling that says the defendants cannot be arraigned in a court of competent jurisdiction.

"My lord, the ruling was delivered in a civil case; and according to the Supreme Court, a criminal case and civil case can go on at the same time.

"We urge the court to dismiss the application and order accelerated hearing in this case,” Sonoiki had said.

After listening to both parties, Justice Dada had, consequently, adjourned the case till May 7, 2026 ( today) for ruling.

Ruling on the application , Justice Dada held that: “The preliminary objection is baseless and the entire application is lacking in merit; and it is hereby dismissed.”

Also, Justice Dada, in her ruling on the bail application of the defendant, held that “On the basis of considering the antecedent of the defendant for not honouring the invitation of the applicant after he was granted administrative bail, I agree with the complainant that he is a flight risk; therefore, bail is refused.”

Justice Dada adjourned the case till June 24, 26, 29 and 30, 2026 for the commencement of trial.

EducationOur Schools Are Not For Sale” -  Unity Schools Alumni Storm Streets May 9 by Triton1996(op): 9:29pm On May 04
A powerful wave of resistance is building across Nigeria’s elite alumni network as the Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA) prepares for a coordinated nationwide awareness walk aimed at safeguarding the legacy and assets of Federal Unity Colleges.

Scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2026, the high-impact rally will simultaneously hold in Lagos, Abuja, and Kano, drawing participation from thousands of old students under the unifying banner: “Pro Unitate - Better Together.”

Insiders within the association reveal that the rally is not just symbolic but a strategic response to growing concerns over alleged plans to commercialise or dispose of critical assets belonging to Unity Schools, a move many alumni describe as “short-sighted and dangerous.”

According to organisers, the objective is clear: to send a strong, unmistakable message to policymakers and stakeholders that the heritage of Unity Schools must be preserved, not monetised.

“This is about legacy, identity, and national cohesion,” a senior USOSA member told TheCityPulseNews under anonymity. “Unity Schools were built to foster national integration. Selling their lands or assets undermines that very foundation.”

The campaign has already gained traction online, with members urged to amplify visibility through branded display pictures and coordinated messaging ahead of the event. The mobilisation strategy reflects a well-structured advocacy push designed to capture both public attention and institutional response.

Observers note that this could mark a turning point in how alumni bodies across Nigeria engage with government policies affecting legacy institutions. USOSA’s move signals a shift from passive concern to active civic engagement , a model that could inspire similar interventions nationwide.

Security and logistics arrangements are reportedly being finalised across the three cities, with local coordinators ensuring peaceful and orderly participation.

As May 9 approaches, one thing is certain, USOSA is not merely organizing a walk, it is staging a statement and the message is unequivocal - Unity Schools are a national treasure, not a commercial asset.

TYO National Competition Concludes with Exceptional Display of Oratory and Critical Thinking

The TYO 2026 National Competition concluded with an impressive showcase of oratory, critical thinking, and a compelling demonstration of the skills developed by participants during a four-day intensive boot camp. The programme commenced on Monday, April 27, with semifinals held on April 29 and the finals on April 30, 2026.

The final event was marked by an emotional moment as the winner was announced to an enthusiastic reception from the audience. Participants were evaluated on key competencies including reasoning, content, structure, audibility, and audience engagement. The competition stood as a clear demonstration of what can be achieved when young minds are given the opportunity and space for intentional development.

TYO is a communications platform and an expression of the Peat Philips Foundation, committed to instilling leadership, communication, and public speaking skills in young people. The initiative focuses on building strong character and empowering participants to embody the change they seek, not only through words but through aligned actions.

The boot camp incorporated multiple dimensions of learning, including structure, intent, goal-setting, character development, reasoning and effective audience engagement. These components provided participants with the opportunity to refine their speaking abilities while unlearning habits that no longer serve their growth. The experience also fostered peer learning, as participants engaged closely with other qualified individuals within the programme.

Beyond the competition, TYO serves as a broader platform dedicated to developing young people into confident communicators and ambassadors of their communities and country. The competition itself is one of several initiatives aimed at preparing a Nigerian representative for the International Public Speaking Competition scheduled to take place in the United Kingdom in July this year.

Looking ahead, preparations are already underway for the 2027 edition of the TYO Boot Camp. The organisers express hope for continued and increased support from sponsors and partners to sustain and expand the programme. This support is essential to reaching more young people and strengthening a critical area of development, not only for Nigeria but for the African continent at large.

For partnership and sponsorship inquiries, interested parties are encouraged to connect with the organisers to support the mission of raising a generation equipped to serve and lead effectively. Contact: 08071825959, peatphilipsfoundation@gmail.com.

PoliticsONYA Endorses Chief Abdul Tundun Mohammed For Senate by Triton1996(op): 10:09am On Apr 27
The Ondo North Youth Alliance (ONYA), under the leadership of its President, Comrade Ojo Bright Eniafe, has formally endorsed Chief Abdul Tunji Mohammed (ATM) as its consensus candidate for the Ondo North Senatorial District in the 2027 elections.

The endorsement was announced at the Alliance’s expanded executive meeting held in Ikare-Akoko, with youth leaders drawn from all six Local Government Areas of Ondo North in attendance.

Speaking at the event, Comrade Ojo Bright Eniafe declared that the decision was driven by ATM’s clear vision for youth empowerment and economic transformation. “Chief Abdul Tunji Mohammed is not just another politician. He understands that the youth are not leaders of tomorrow – we are leaders today. He has the capacity, the network, and the will to convert our energy into productivity,” Eniafe said.

*Youth Capacity to Lead, Not Just to Clap*

ONYA praised ATM’s blueprint for tackling youth unemployment and rural-urban migration. Central to his agenda is the establishment of *skill acquisition and ICT training centers* across Akoko land, Owo and Ose to equip young people with 21st-century skills in tech, agriculture, fashion, welding, and digital enterprise.

The Alliance also highlighted ATM’s plan to *attract and facilitate factories and agro-processing zones* in Ondo North. “For too long, our brothers from the North have moved to Lagos and other states in search of jobs that don’t exist. With factories here, we keep our youth here. We build our economy here,” Comrade Eniafe stated. “ATM’s background in Finance, Real Estate, and Infrastructure Development gives us confidence that this is not empty talk.”

ONYA further noted that ATM’s track record of quietly supporting student groups, artisans, and young entrepreneurs proves he is youth-friendly and results-oriented. “He doesn’t wait for elections to show up. He has been doing the work,” the President added.

In his response, Chief ATM expressed deep appreciation to ONYA, describing the endorsement as “a call to greater service.” He pledged to sponsor bills and attract federal interventions that will prioritize youth employment, technical education, and industrial growth. “We will build the training centers. We will bring the factories. We will stop the forced migration of our youth. Ondo North will work, and our young people will lead that transformation,” ATM assured.

The Ondo North Youth Alliance called on all youth groups, student unions, and first-time voters across the senatorial district to unite behind ATM, describing him as “the candidate with the brain, the heart, and the blueprint for the youth.”

PoliticsFormer Ondo Dep Gov Endorses ATM For Ondo North Senate by Triton1996(op): 9:20am On Apr 24
Former Ondo Deputy Governor Ali Olanusi Endorses Chief Abdul Tunji Mohammed (ATM) for Ondo North Senate*

*Akure, Ondo State* — In a major boost to his senatorial ambition, Chief Abdul Tunji Mohammed, popularly known as ATM, has received the endorsement of His Excellency, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, former Deputy Governor of Ondo State.

The elder statesman formally adopted ATM’s bid to represent Ondo North Senatorial District during a courtesy visit to his Akure residence last week. The meeting, described by attendees as “warm and strategic,” saw Olanusi throw his political weight behind ATM ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Alhaji Olanusi is a towering figure in Ondo politics and a respected APC chieftain from Akoko, Ondo North. His political résumé spans decades: former Member of the House of Representatives, former State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and former member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Board of Trustees. His voice carries weight across party lines and within grassroots structures in Ondo North.

Speaking during the visit, Olanusi commended ATM’s character, capacity, and commitment to the people. He also paid glowing tribute to the legacy of ATM’s late father, Alhaji Kunle Abdul, whose philanthropy and community development efforts remain reference points in Akoko land and Ondo State.

“The good work of your late father is still speaking well for you,” Olanusi said. “You have shown the same heart for service. Ondo North needs a Senator who understands the people and has the competence to deliver. I believe you are that person.”

Responding, Chief Abdul Tunji Mohammed expressed gratitude for the endorsement, describing Olanusi as “a father, a leader, and a compass for many of us in Ondo politics.”

“This endorsement is humbling. It strengthens our resolve to offer Ondo North a new model of representation — one that is accessible, developmental, and people-driven,” ATM said. “We will not betray this trust.”

Political observers say Olanusi’s endorsement is significant. As a bridge between the old guard and the new generation, his backing is expected to galvanize support across Akoko, Owo, and Ose — the key blocs in Ondo North.

With endorsements now coming from traditional leaders, youth groups, and elder statesmen, ATM’s senatorial ambition continues to gather momentum as the 2027 political calendar draws closer.

PoliticsMoyo Ogunlewe Applauds Bashir’s Solar Empowerment Initiative For Ikeja Youths by Triton1996(op): 4:07pm On Apr 23
The Lagos State Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Hon. Moyo Ogunlewe, has commended Comrade Oluwadamilare Sonayon Adebowale Bashir for launching a transformative solar electrification training programme targeted at youths in Ikeja.

The initiative, described as a multimillion-naira empowerment scheme, is designed to equip young people between the ages of 18 and 40 with practical, market-relevant skills in solar installation, maintenance, and system management. It is expected to open up employment opportunities while fostering entrepreneurship within the renewable energy sector.

According to Bashir, the programme will train 100 beneficiaries in phases, beginning with an initial batch of 40 participants. The phased approach, he explained, is to ensure quality delivery, hands-on learning, and proper supervision throughout the training period.

Speaking on the significance of the initiative, Bashir noted that the programme is a strategic intervention aimed at tackling youth unemployment while addressing Nigeria’s persistent power supply challenges through sustainable energy solutions.

“This is not just about training; it is about creating a new generation of self-reliant youths who can contribute meaningfully to the economy through renewable energy,” he stated.

Reacting to the development, Hon. Moyo Ogunlewe lauded Bashir’s commitment to grassroots empowerment, describing the initiative as timely and impactful.

Ogunlewe emphasized that such forward-thinking programmes align with ongoing efforts to promote youth development and economic inclusion across Lagos State. He further noted that investing in renewable energy skills places young people at the forefront of a rapidly evolving global industry.

Also lending his voice, the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Hon. Barrister Moyosore Ogunleye, praised the initiative, highlighting its potential to transform lives and reduce unemployment at the community level.

The much-anticipated training programme, already generating buzz within Ikeja and beyond, is scheduled to hold on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area. Participants will be drawn from eight wards across the local government, ensuring broad-based inclusion and community impact.

Stakeholders believe the initiative could serve as a model for similar youth-focused renewable energy programmes across Lagos and Nigeria at large, especially at a time when alternative energy solutions are becoming increasingly critical to national development.

PoliticsTayo Ayinde: The Quiet Engine Of Lagos’ Governance by Triton1996(op): 6:45pm On Apr 22
In the complex theatre of governance, where noise often masquerades as impact, few figures embody disciplined authority and strategic boldness like Tayo Ayinde, Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos. He is not a headline-chasing leader. Instead, Ayinde represents a rare breed, a calm but commanding operator whose strength is expressed through control, precision, and unwavering loyalty.

Ayinde’s personality is deeply rooted in his formative years within Nigeria’s security architecture. Having served in the State Security Service (SSS), where he rose through the ranks before retiring in 2009, he developed a mindset shaped by vigilance, intelligence gathering, and calculated decision-making.

This background did not just shape his career; it defined his temperament. Those who have observed him closely describe a man who is perpetually alert, mentally agile, and instinctively strategic. He anticipates rather than reacts and focuses on outcomes rather than optics.

His boldness, therefore, is not performative; it is institutional.

Nicknamed “Buffalo” by colleagues and associates, Ayinde’s personality reflects a striking paradox: gentle in appearance, yet formidable in execution. He carries a commanding presence while maintaining a composed and approachable demeanor. In political and administrative circles, he is known to demonstrate focus under pressure, maintain emotional discipline in crisis situations, and project authority that commands respect without coercion.

This blend of calmness and inner strength is what makes his leadership style uniquely effective. He is the type of leader who can enter a room quietly and still shape its direction.

Within the Lagos State Government, Ayinde is more than a chief of staff in title; he is widely regarded as the operational nucleus of the administration. He coordinates complex policy frameworks with precision and serves as a critical bridge between political leadership and administrative execution. In doing so, he manages competing interests without destabilizing governance.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described him as a dependable ally and a stabilizing force, an acknowledgment of his ability to manage responsibility without being consumed by it.

Ayinde’s office is often described as a “solution centre", a place where issues are addressed with clarity and speed rather than prolonged debate.

In Nigeria’s often unpredictable political environment, loyalty can be fluid. Ayinde, however, represents a different doctrine: loyalty as a strategic principle. From his days as Chief Detail to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to his current role, he has built a reputation as a leader who understands power, respects hierarchy, and safeguards institutional continuity.

His consistency stands out. He does not shift with political winds, nor does he deploy influence for personal spectacle. Instead, he prioritizes structure, stability, and long-term outcomes. This approach has earned him a trusted position within Lagos’ political landscape, with credibility that cuts across different interests.

Beyond governance, Ayinde’s personality reveals a strong humanitarian dimension. Known for his quiet philanthropy, he has supported widows, orphans, and vulnerable communities over the years, often without public attention. His Ikeja residence is frequently described as an “open door,” reflecting a leadership philosophy grounded in accessibility and compassion.

This balance of firmness in leadership and empathy in human engagement, completes the architecture of his character.

In an era where leadership is often equated with visibility, Tayo Ayinde represents a different model, one defined by substance over spectacle. He is a strategist who thinks ahead, a coordinator who turns policy into reality, and a steady hand in complex systems.

His story is not one of flamboyance but of structured influence, disciplined authority, and consistent delivery. His impact is measured not by volume, but by his ability to guide outcomes, stabilize systems, and sustain governance at the highest level.

In the evolving narrative of Lagos State, Ayinde stands as a reminder that true power does not always announce itself. It operates, delivers, and endures.

BusinessFCMB Limits Exposure In Fraud Attempt by Triton1996(op): 5:45pm On Mar 28
More than ₦3 billion was targeted, but about ₦677 million reached the culprits, with recovery and prosecutions underway, reflecting how banks are responding to more sophisticated fraud risks.

Nigeria’s expanding digital banking sector is facing increasingly sophisticated fraud attempts, as financial institutions adapt to faster transactions and broader online services.

A recent case involving First City Monument Bank (FCMB), linked to fraudulent activity detected in December 2025, has drawn attention to how banks are responding to such incidents, with a focus on limiting exposure, recovering funds and working with law enforcement.

According to findings referenced in proceedings before the Lagos State Special Offences Court, the incident involved unauthorised transactions tied to a digital product. Early reports erroneously suggested more than ₦3 billion was lost. Subsequent clarification shows that over ₦3 billion was targeted, ₦2.4 billion was blocked and recovered, while ₦677 million got into the possession of the culprits. This outcome reflects the bank’s cyber security and monitoring capabilities, as well as improved collaboration among regulated financial institutions and with law enforcement agencies. Several suspects and beneficiaries have been apprehended, while recovery and prosecution efforts are ongoing, led by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Proceedings at the Lagos State Special Offences Court have resulted in convictions, including that of a repeat offender, with restitution orders issued. Related matters are also being handled at the Federal High Court in Lagos, where additional suspects are being tried in connection with the scheme. This process is aimed at ensuring that bad actors are identified and permanently blacklisted from the financial system.

Authorities say recovery efforts are continuing as additional funds are traced.

Analysts note that the pace of legal action reflects closer coordination between financial institutions and enforcement agencies in addressing cyber-related financial crime.

The case comes as banks contend with more complex fraud methods, including social engineering and automated exploitation of system processes.

As digital products and platforms expand, so too does the risk associated with cyber-crime and related fraud.

“The scale of digital banking means risks are evolving alongside the systems,” said a Lagos-based financial analyst. “Institutions are now judged by how they manage these events.”

Observers say the sector is moving toward a stronger focus on response and recovery, rather than prevention alone.

This includes improving monitoring capabilities, strengthening transaction controls and enhancing collaboration with regulators and law enforcement. The FCMB case, with limited exposure relative to the amount targeted and ongoing recovery, reflects that shift.

For customers, the primary concern is the safety of their funds. In this case, there has been no indication of losses affecting customer deposits. Maintaining that level of protection remains central to sustaining trust in the financial system.

Nigeria’s financial sector continues to grow, supported by digital innovation and expanding access to banking services.

However, analysts say fraud attempts are likely to persist as systems become more complex and interconnected.

They say institutions will increasingly be judged not only on their ability to prevent incidents, but on how effectively they respond and recover when they occur.

PoliticsTinubu Will Lose In South-east, APC May Lose Lagos – Primate Ayodele (VIDEO) by Triton1996(op): 2:17pm On Mar 23

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yi7rQfxrSQ

Tension is beginning to build ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections—and this time, it’s coming from two very different voices.
Popular Nigerian prophet, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has made a bold prediction about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

According to him, Tinubu will struggle to secure victory in the South-East region, stating clearly that the president may not win the zone in 2027.

This prophecy is already stirring conversations, especially because it directly contradicts a recent statement made by Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo.

Soludo had confidently declared that Tinubu would win Anambra State and even extend his dominance to other parts of the South-East.

Now, with two strong opinions pointing in completely opposite directions, Nigerians are left to wonder—who is closer to the reality on ground?
Will political influence and alliances give Tinubu an edge in the South-East, or will regional dynamics prove too difficult to overcome?
As 2027 draws closer, one thing is certain—the battle for Nigeria’s political future is already taking shape.
Stay tuned.

BusinessMSC Secures 45-year Concession To Build Snake Island Container Terminal In Lagos by Triton1996(op): 10:01am On Mar 15
The project ends decades search for investors, boosts Nigeria’s blue economy

By Prince Adeyemi Shonibare

Nigeria’s maritime sector is set for a major transformation following a landmark agreement involving the world’s largest container shipping company, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), which has secured a 45-year concession to build, manage and operate a modern container terminal at Snake Island Port in Lagos.

The project, to be developed in partnership with Nigerdock, marks one of the most significant private sector investments in Nigeria’s port infrastructure in recent decades and is expected to strengthen the country’s role as a major maritime gateway in West and Central Africa.

For Nigeria, the agreement brings to close decades of efforts to attract large-scale investors to develop Snake Island Port, a strategically located maritime asset in Lagos.

Long-standing concession history
Snake Island’s maritime facilities date back several decades. In 1992, the Federal Government granted a 99-year concession for the island’s port and industrial facilities to Nigerdock, a major maritime engineering and logistics company.
Nigerdock was later privatised and is currently operated by the Jagal Group owned by Nigerian industrialist Maher Jarmakani.

Over the years, the Island Container Terminal fell into disrepair, requiring major rehabilitation and modernization to meet modern global shipping standards.

The new partnership with MSC is expected to transform the port into a state-of-the-art container handling facility capable of attracting larger vessels and increasing Nigeria’s cargo throughput capacity.
Buhari administration approved the project.

The investment framework for the Snake Island development was approved in May 2023 by the Federal Executive Council under then President Muhammadu Buhari.
The approval authorised total private investment of approximately $974.1 million for the project under a Public-Private Partnership structure, including the 45-year concession period.

At the same time, the Federal Government also approved two other major maritime infrastructure projects:
• Development of the Ondo Multipurpose Port in Ilaje, Ondo State, with $1.48 billion in private investment and a 50-year concession.
• Expansion and development of the Burutu Sea Port in Delta State, involving $1.2 billion in private investment and a 40-year concession.
These projects form part of Nigeria’s broader effort to develop its blue economy and expand maritime trade capacity.

Construction partners
Engineering and construction of the Snake Island container terminal will be handled by:
• ITB Nigeria Limited
• DEME Group
ITB Nigeria Limited is part of the Chagoury Group and owned by the Chagoury family, while DEME Group is a globally recognised Belgian marine engineering and dredging company with extensive experience in port construction.

MSC profile
Founded in 1970 by Italian shipping entrepreneur Gianluigi Aponte and his wife Rafaela Aponte-Diamant, MSC has grown from a single cargo vessel into the largest container shipping company in the world.
Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, the company operates in more than 155 countries and serves over 500 ports worldwide, with a fleet of roughly 900 container ships and over 200,000 employees globally.

The MSC Group also operates major logistics and maritime businesses including inland logistics through Medlog, cruise tourism through MSC Cruises, and port terminal operations across several continents.

According to Forbes, the estimated net worth of MSC founder Gianluigi Aponte is about $43.9 billion as of February 2026, placing him among the world’s richest shipping magnates. The company remains privately owned by the Aponte family, with both founders holding equal ownership stakes.
Management comments
Speaking on the development, MSC Group President Diego Aponte said the company is committed to strengthening its operations in Nigeria and across Africa.

“We are proud to expand our presence in Nigeria through this important infrastructure project. The Snake Island terminal will enhance service delivery and improve port efficiency for our customers and partners in the region,”

Chief Executive Officer of Nigerdock, Maher Jarmakani, described the agreement as a major milestone for the Nigerian maritime sector.

“We are delighted to partner with MSC in developing a world-class container terminal that will enhance Nigeria’s logistics capabilities and support economic growth,” he said.

Economic impact
Industry analysts say the project could significantly strengthen Nigeria’s maritime economy by expanding cargo handling capacity, reducing congestion at Lagos ports and attracting additional international shipping traffic.

The development is also expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs across maritime operations, logistics, transport services and port-related commercial activities.

Infrastructure expansion
Beyond the port development, plans are also underway for Nigeria’s first underwater tunnel, linking Ahmadu Bello Way in Victoria Island through Snake Island and connecting the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway with the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway corridor through Badagry.

The tunnel project is expected to significantly improve freight movement and road connectivity between Lagos ports and national transport networks.

Strategic milestone
With the entry of MSC into the Snake Island development, industry observers say Nigeria is taking a significant step toward modernizing its maritime infrastructure and positioning itself as a regional hub for global shipping and trade.

For a project that has waited for decades for major international investors, the Snake Island concession represents a turning point in Nigeria’s port development strategy and a strong signal of global confidence in the country’s maritime future.

The Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, has commissioned a mosque built by Nigerian prophet, Primate Elijah Ayodele, which was named after her grandmother, Madam Abibatu Mogaji.

The commissioning, which took place on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, was attended by several Iyalojas, members of the Muslim community, Muslim clerics, members of Primate Ayodele’s church, INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, and other guests.

Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, who arrived dancing, expressed gratitude to Primate Ayodele for being the first man of God to build a mosque. She described the initiative as miraculous, noting that it shows that everything is possible with God.

She appreciated Primate Ayodele for deeming her grandmother worthy of having the mosque named after her, stating that it demonstrates the prophet’s recognition of the impact of her family’s matriarch.

“I am very excited. I give thanks to the man of God being used for this project. This is the first time we are witnessing a Christian building a mosque. It shows that there is nothing God cannot do. When people say there is no way, God will always make a way. This mosque is a miracle. I appreciate Primate Ayodele for counting the Tinubu family worthy. Thank you for recognizing the impact of our matriarch, who has gone to be with the Lord. Her spirit is definitely with us here.”

While speaking at the commissioning, Primate Ayodele appreciated the Iyaloja-General for attending, describing her as one of the most humble people he has ever met. He explained that he met Madam Abibatu Mogaji twice during her lifetime and described her as an embodiment of humility.

He stated that he initially had another name in mind for the mosque but changed it to Madam Abibatu Mogaji after receiving divine instruction. He added that he did not name it after Tinubu’s mother because he sought any favour from the government.
The prophet also said he does not intend to have anything to do with the mosque going forward, as he has handed it over to the family of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

PoliticsMuhammadu Buhari: The Incorruptible Statesman — A Life Of Discipline, Service by Triton1996(op): 9:39am On Feb 22
MUHAMMADU BUHARI:
THE INCORRUPTIBLE STATESMAN —
A LIFE OF DISCIPLINE, SERVICE AND NATIONAL REBUILDING

By Prince Adeyemi Shonibare

A PRESIDENT FOR HARD TIMES
Muhammadu Buhari governed Nigeria during one of the most difficult periods in its post-independence history — marked by economic recession, collapsing oil prices, rising insecurity, institutional decay, and a global pandemic.
He inherited a nation under severe strain. Yet, through discipline, restraint, moral clarity, and firm institutional reforms, Buhari laid the foundations for long-term national recovery and structural stability.
FROM DAURA TO NATIONAL DESTINY
Born on December 17, 1942, in Daura, Katsina State, Buhari was raised in a modest and disciplined household where integrity, humility, and responsibility were core values.
He attended Daura Primary School, Mai’Adua Primary School, and Katsina Provincial Secondary School (Government College, Katsina). From childhood, he displayed remarkable discipline, leadership instinct, and moral restraint.
THE MAKING OF A SOLDIER
Buhari joined the Nigerian Army at 19 and underwent elite military training at:
Nigerian Military Training College, Kaduna
Mons Officer Cadet School, Aldershot, United Kingdom
Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, India
US Army War College
These experiences shaped his strategic discipline, leadership capacity, and institutional mindset.
A DISTINGUISHED MILITARY CAREER
He rose through key command positions — Platoon Commander, Company Commander, Battalion Commander, Brigade Commander, and General Officer Commanding (GOC).
As Federal Commissioner for Petroleum Resources and Chairman of NNPC, Buhari introduced discipline, accountability, and financial prudence into Nigeria’s oil sector.
HEAD OF STATE: WAR AGAINST INDISCIPLINE
As Head of State (1983–1985), Buhari launched the War Against Indiscipline (WAI), restoring public morality, civic responsibility, punctuality, and accountability, while confronting corruption head-on.
THE PRESIDENTIAL ERA: THE FOUNDATION PRESIDENT
Assuming office in 2015, Buhari inherited deep recession, massive infrastructure deficit, severe insecurity, rampant corruption, and 32 states unable to pay salaries.
His administration embarked on structural reforms, institutional rebuilding, and historic infrastructure revival.
POLITICAL NEUTRALITY & DEMOCRATIC INTEGRITY
Buhari governed with unmatched political restraint:
APC won Zamfara and Bayelsa but lost both through court rulings, which he respected.
APC lost Rivers elections following judicial decisions.
No governor was removed through federal interference.
Elections remained free, fair, and competitive.
“I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody.”
ELECTORAL & INSTITUTIONAL REFORMS
Electoral: BVA, IREV, digital voter cards, NIN enforcement.
Public Finance: Treasury Single Account (TSA), unified government revenue system, elimination of ghost workers.
These reforms strengthened transparency, credibility, and accountability.

FINTECH, DIGITAL ECONOMY & CREATIVE SECTOR BOOM
Nigeria became Africa’s fintech capital, birthing Flutterwave, Paystack, Kuda, Moniepoint, PalmPay, Opay, and Paga, while the creative economy surged, creating millions of youth jobs.

MORAL LEADERSHIP
Buhari lived simply, governed modestly, and ruled with restraint. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he embodied discipline and moral clarity.

“Power is transient. Character is permanent.”
In politics — a temple of sinners — even Jesus had a Judas. The few corrupt officials under Buhari never diminished his personal uprightness, as all offenders were prosecuted.

NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL TRIBUTES
Barack Obama:
“Buhari is a man of integrity, deeply committed to Nigeria’s progress.”
African Union:
A reformist leader who strengthened governance and institutional stability.
Nigerian Civil Society:
Nigeria’s most personally incorruptible president.

No leader could have repaired 56 years of structural decay in eight years.
Yet Buhari rebuilt institutions, revived infrastructure, reformed elections, secured energy policy, expanded education, and stabilized governance.
He was not perfect — but he was incorruptible.

Muhammadu Buhari served Nigeria with courage, restraint, discipline, and conscience.
May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
History shall remember him kindly.
Nigeria shall honour his legacy.

Christianity EtcWhy I Built A Mosque, Named It After Tinubu’s Mother – Primate Ayodele (VIDEO) by Triton1996(op): 2:03pm On Feb 16
The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has explained why he built a mosque and named it after the mother of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Mrs. Abibatu Mogaji, describing the move as a divine instruction and a message of unity.

Speaking during his annual thanksgiving ceremony held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Oke-Afa, Lagos State, the cleric said the decision was neither political nor motivated by personal gain, but purely an act of obedience to God.
According to him, the mosque project was birthed from a clear spiritual directive he could not ignore.

“Building this mosque is not about seeking attention or trying to please anyone. It was a divine instruction from God. When God speaks, I obey. It is simply a house of worship, just like we have churches. I am not afraid of what anyone will say because I am only answerable to God,” he said.

Primate Ayodele stressed that the mosque would be handed over completely to a Muslim cleric, adding that he has no interest in running or controlling its activities.

“I have no intention of operating the mosque. It will be handed over to Islamic leaders. My assignment was to build it as instructed,” he added.
On why he chose to name the mosque after Mrs. Abibatu Mogaji, mother of President Tinubu, the prophet revealed that the decision was also divinely inspired.

“I initially had another name in mind for the mosque. I wanted to name it Folawuyo Mosque, but God said no. God specifically instructed me to name it after Tinubu’s mother. People may think it is political, but it is not. I didn’t name it because I want an appointment or any favour from the President. I did it because God directed me to do so,” he explained.

Primate Ayodele also addressed criticisms that portray him as an opponent of President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that his action proves otherwise.

“Some people see me as someone who hates Tinubu or as an APC critic. That is not true. I speak the truth as God reveals it to me. This act shows that what I do is not personal. It is about obedience to God and promoting unity,” he said.

The cleric noted that the mosque symbolises religious harmony and peaceful coexistence in Nigeria, urging Nigerians not to allow religion to divide them.

“We must understand that religion should not separate us. There is a difference between religion and character. What Nigeria needs now is unity, and if building a mosque as a Christian leader will strengthen unity, then so be it,” he stated.

Beyond the mosque project, Primate Ayodele also carried out several empowerment initiatives during the event, including the donation of vehicles, tricycles, minibuses, free WAEC forms, accommodation support, sewing machines for tailors, and household appliances.

He maintained that his mission is to serve humanity and obey divine instructions, regardless of public opinion.

“As long as God is pleased with me, I am satisfied. People can say whatever they like, but when God gives an instruction, I will always carry it out,” he concluded.

Bashir also commended Seyi Tinubu, son of the President, for what he described as his consistent humanitarian and grassroots interventions in Ikeja and across Lagos State. According to him, Seyi Tinubu’s outreach programmes have continued to bring relief and practical support to residents, especially young people and vulnerable groups.

In the same vein, Bashir praised Tayo Ayinde, Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, acknowledging his “fatherly role” and long-standing commitment to the stability, unity and development of Ikeja.

He noted that Ayinde’s behind-the-scenes leadership has remained vital to community cohesion and progress.
Against this backdrop of political alignment and civic responsibility, Bashir unveiled a solar empowerment training programme specifically designed to create job opportunities for Ikeja youths. He explained that the initiative is not a handout scheme but a skills-driven intervention focused on preparing young people for sustainable careers in the renewable energy sector.

The programme targets youths between the ages of 18 and 40, with a total of 100 beneficiaries to be trained in batches to ensure quality delivery. The first batch of 20 trainees is scheduled to begin in March, marking the pilot phase of the project.

President Tinubu in Turkey: Guard of Honor and Strategic Agreements Signal New Era in Bilateral Relations

By Prince Adeyemi Shonibare

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, was accorded a full guard of honor during his official state visit to Turkey, a ceremonial reception reserved for world leaders and a strong signal of the respect Nigeria commands on the global stage. The ceremony, held at the Turkish Presidential Complex in Ankara, featured military pageantry, national anthems, and formal protocol before high-level bilateral talks commenced.

The Presidency confirmed that President Tinubu briefly stumbled due to a camera cable while proceeding to the presidential lodge but stood up immediately and continued his engagements without interruption, stressing that the incident had no impact on the visit or his health.

More importantly, the visit delivered substantive diplomatic and economic outcomes. During talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on January 27, 2026, Nigeria and Turkey signed nine cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding, covering military cooperation, higher education, diaspora policy, media and communication, halal accreditation, diplomatic training, and the establishment of a Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO).

At a joint press conference, President Tinubu emphasized the need to deepen cooperation in security, trade, and economic development, while President Erdoğan reaffirmed Turkey’s support for Nigeria’s fight against terrorism and commitment to strengthening strategic ties.

With Turkey’s strengths in defense technology, intelligence, education, and industrial capacity, the agreements open new opportunities for technology transfer, security collaboration, trade expansion, and human capital development.

In essence, the Turkey visit stands as a diplomatic success, defined not by a fleeting moment, but by honor, respect, and concrete agreements that advance Nigeria’s security, economy, and international standing.

BusinessSee Nigerian Banks That Have Secured Their Licences by Triton1996(op): 1:49pm On Jan 18
Nigeria’s banking sector is in the midst of one
of its most transformative periods in decades.

In March 2024, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) announced a new minimum capital requirement for banks, prompting them to raise additional capital by 31 March 2026. The goal? Create larger, more resilient banks that can support big projects, strengthen the financial system, and help drive Nigeria toward a $1 trillion economy.

It is important for everyday customers, investors, and businesses to understand that the new capital requirement is at different levels: International, National, and Regional.

Banks That Have Secured International Licences

An international banking licence allows banks to operate beyond Nigeria’s borders and engage in cross-border transactions. To qualify, banks must meet a higher capital threshold — ₦500 billion in paid-up capital.

As of early 2026, the following banks met this requirement and secured their international licences:

Access Bank Plc
Fidelity Bank Plc
First Bank of Nigeria Ltd
Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank)
United Bank for Africa (UBA)
Zenith Bank Plc
Banks That Have Secured National Licences

CultureEyo Festival: Lagos’ Living Heritage And The Spirit Of Lagos by Triton1996(op): 11:02am On Dec 24, 2025
By Prince Adeyemi Shonibare

History and Origin

The Eyo Festival, also known as the Adamu Orisha Play, stands as one of Africa’s most iconic cultural processions and the highest traditional honour in Lagos. Deeply rooted in the history of Lagos Island, its formal emergence dates to 1854, during the reign of Oba Akintoye.
Traditionally instituted to escort the soul of a departed Oba or a highly distinguished Lagosian into the afterlife, the festival symbolises peace, continuity and prosperity for the land. Over time, it evolved beyond funerary rites into a rare ceremonial honour reserved for individuals whose lives and legacies have profoundly shaped Lagos and Nigeria.
Oba Akintoye is historically recognised as the first major royal personality accorded full Eyo rites, firmly establishing the festival as a sacred institution of state, identity and continuity.

Eyo Festival 2025: Date, Venue and Honourees
The 2025 Eyo Festival will hold on Saturday, December 27, 2025, with activities centred at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) and strictly confined to Lagos Island.
The traditional procession begins from Isale Eko/Idumota and does not extend beyond Onikan and Obalende. The Eyo does not cross into Ikoyi or beyond.

This year’s festival honours eminent Lagos personalities whose legacies continue to define the state:
Sir Michael Agbolade Otedola, former Governor of Lagos State (posthumous honour)
Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, revered Lagos matriarch, former Ìyálọ́jà of Nigeria and mother of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande, former Governor of Lagos State, celebrated for landmark achievements in education, housing and public service
Brigadier Mobolaji Johnson, first Military Governor of Lagos State, recognised for laying foundational administrative structures for modern Lagos

The Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty Oba Rilwanu Akiolu, described the festival as
“a celebration of Lagos’ living heritage, unity and cultural continuity,”
adding:
“The Eyo Festival is not deity worship. It is a cultural symbol of order, history and the collective identity of Lagosians.”
He further emphasised its inclusiveness:
“Eyo is for Muslims, Christians and traditional worshippers alike. It reflects the harmony and tolerance that define Lagos.”

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected as Special Guest of Honour, alongside Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, senior government officials, royal fathers, captains of industry and distinguished guests.

Governor Sanwo-Olu described the festival as
“a powerful cultural and economic driver that reinforces Lagos’ position as Africa’s cultural capital.”

The Sacred Order of the Eyos
At the heart of the festival are the Eyo masquerades, dressed in flowing white robes, wide-brimmed hats (Aga Akete) and carrying the symbolic staff known as the Opambata. Beneath the robe, Eyos wear the Aropale, tied at the waist, while the face is covered with a white veil perforated to allow vision.

There are five principal Orisha Eyos, regarded as the spiritual authorities of the procession. Eyo Adimu Orisha,Oniko, Eyo Ologede, Eyo Angere,Laba.
All other Eyos must stop and pay homage to them when encountered. Failure to do so may attract sanctions and cause friction among the masquerades.

Only the Adimu Orisha, the senior-most Eyo, is forbidden from revealing his face. Eyo is strictly men's affairs concerning wearing of Eyo attire.

Iga Houses Entitled to Have Eyos
The right to have Eyo is vested in recognised Lagos Iga (Chieftaincy) Houses, including:

Many participants spend between ₦200,000 and ₦400,000 on bespoke attire. The festival is a major pillar of Detty December, reinforcing Lagos’ standing as Africa’s cultural capital.

Finally

The Eyo Festival is not merely an event—it is Lagos walking, Lagos breathing, Lagos remembering itself. From honouring heroes past to energising today’s economy, it remains the living heritage and enduring spirit of Lagos.

BusinessCBN Revokes Licences Of Aso Savings, Union Homes Over Regulatory Breaches by Triton1996(op): 2:35pm On Dec 16, 2025
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has revoked the operating licences of Aso Savings and Loans Plc and Union Homes Savings and Loans Plc.

The apex bank cited persistent regulatory infractions and deteriorating financial conditions at the two primary mortgage banks.

The CBN in a statement issued on Tuesday, said the decision was taken in line with Section 12 of the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA) 2020 and Section 7.3 of the Revised Guidelines for Mortgage Banks in Nigeria.

Grounds of licence revocation

According to the CBN, both institutions failed to meet key regulatory requirements, including the minimum paid-up share capital threshold for their licence category.

The regulator also found that the banks’ assets were insufficient to cover their liabilities, exposing depositors and other stakeholders to heightened risk.

The CBN further disclosed that the affected mortgage banks were critically undercapitalised, with capital adequacy ratios falling below the prudential minimum prescribed by the regulator.

In addition, the banks were said to have repeatedly failed to comply with regulatory directives and other statutory obligations.

The statement signed by the Acting Director of Corporate Communications at the CBN, Hakama Sidi Ali, emphasized that the apex bank “remains committed to its core mandate of ensuring financial system stability.”

What this means

With the revocation of their licences, Aso Savings and Loans Plc and Union Homes Savings and Loans Plc are no longer authorised to carry out any banking or mortgage-related activities in Nigeria.

The institutions are effectively barred from accepting new deposits, granting loans, or offering any regulated financial services.

Depositors and other stakeholders are expected to await further directives from the CBN and the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), which will determine the appropriate resolution process, including possible liquidation and the treatment of customer deposits.

More insights

Aso Savings and Loans Plc and Union Homes Savings and Loans Plc have faced prolonged operational challenges in recent years.

Aso Savings had not long ago undergone regulatory intervention amid liquidity constraints and NGX compliance issues.

Its shares on the NGX have been thinly traded in recent years, with mounting concerns over statutory compliance and returns to investors.

In 2017, the CBN was reported to have stepped in to supervise remedial restructuring. Subsequent efforts to raise new capital or attract strategic investors were slow to materialise due to legacy liabilities.

Union Homes was among the 14 companies delisted by the NGX in 2024 for failing to meet their listing requirements.

Specifically, the company was said to have failed to submit over six years audited result and accounts to the Exchange.
