Esughusughu: Some do block off the dates because they don't want any guests at that particular period. Just keep searching. In my own case, after canceling, they said they would be traveling and will block the dates in their calendar. But as at now those dates are still open. People have had good experiences, but I won't advise you to mention anything Nigeria. If they ask me again, I'll say Dublin, after all my flight would transit there. I honestly think you should report the host that’s discrimination, and it goes against Airbnb rules. If they don’t want a certain nationality etc they have no business being host. I’m surprised you were even asked that, when I booked mine, nothing like that came up, just a thank you from the host for choosing their home. Please no need to lie about your nationality. |

merrymum: The lady just asked for the SIN card and made a copy of it. She said that would be sufficient. But offices like where you get a driver's license might insist on utility bills as proof of address. I’m really happy about this. Thanks very much |

merrymum: Our host was already waiting for us. Got to the house, ate and slept off like logs. Next morning, we went to Service Canada office for our SIN. Also got our health cards (temporary ones, waiting for the permanent ones). So far, we have gotten a family doctor, done some bloodwork, pretty much setting up our medical records. Hey congrats merrymum on your landing, please what did you use as proof of address for your health card registration? |

yimiton: Good morning Virtual Fam,
I am in the process of booking our flight and just noticed that flights leaving Nigeria to Toronto on Thursdays are cheaper than other days of the week. Is there a reason to be concerned? We're looking at leaving on Thursday, the 28th of December and landing on Friday, the 29th (Friday).
Is there a reason to be concerned? Not at all, some days are just cheaper than others. Go for it please! |

Alright thanks! vcole: @bigmove just to clarify, your husband would be applying for a student permit while you would apply for a spouse open work permit aka sowp and your child on a dependent visa right? If this is the case then please go online as well as the Canada student visa thread on nairaland to ensure that you have as much info as you could possibly have to ensure that you turn in a visa application that is devoid of errors and stands a good chance of getting approved.
All things being equal, you would be fine. He'll go to school while you'll work at getting a job or staying at home dependent on your choice. It'll also be a good idea to start the process for permanent residency via express entry soon after you land. That way in about a year or so if all goes well , you could all change status and you would be able to go back to school for less than you would pay as an international student. Otherwise after he graduates, he'll be eligible for a post grad work permit which I think would be valid for 2yrs.
@Triv, I don't know much about Varsity apart from the fact that it's in the NW and close to Dalhousie. However the NW of Calgary is alright. |

Hamiltondreamer: Hello sorry to button into your conversation, pls what stage are you in as per your timeline. Are you a government worker? No problem. No I'm not a government worker. My file is currently at the London VO waiting to be reviewed by an officer. The last activity I saw in my account was end of April when my BG changed to NA. |

Cissy10: Thanks Triv for the encouragement. I'm hopeful for positive updates this week
The email address is CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca
Good luck to you too Hey thanks Cassy10, I sent the mail and they replied. Apparently mine is at London office too. The wait continues. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by Triv: 6:55am On Jun 12, 2017 |
Cissy10: You can try sending them an email inquiring about the status of your application and what office is currently handling your application. These days they are more open to giving people info about their application.
My AOR is feb 28th and mu BG has been 'next step is to conduct Bg since 13th of April. I mailed them last wed and got a reply on Thurs saying my file has been moved to London office and has been assigned to an officer for review.
I just hope this doesn't mean they haven't touched my file since April Hey thanks Cissy10, will mail them, hopefully I'll get some good info. Is this the email address you used, cic-ctd-ottawa@cic.gc.ca? I think your file is at the final stage, since it's at LVO, from what I've seen in people's gcms notes, the corresponding background check at this stage is IP2, I guess the officer just didn't update it. Goodluck |

MostBlessed: Hi Triv, Thanks for your prompt reply. I am also interested in getting them, but I think it is not possible to order from Nigeria. I think it is only available to people in canada. We will need to have a Canadian contact, and also fill a consent form for the contact to be granted access to apply on our behalf . The wait period is really unbearable& having no clue as to why ... .. OMG!! lol it really is, I feel like punching my screen anytime I login and still see that not applicable. From what I understand the getgcms site is a 3rd party site, and yeah we would have to fill the consent form and submit it to them. They charge 20 dollars for it, the service is for people outside Canada. The problem I have is that it takes at least 30days before you receive it and that's another wait. It's just too much. |
