India’s football giants East Bengal on Sunday announced the signing of Nigerian striker Mohammed Gambo for the 2018-19 season, according to a report by newkerala
Gambo, who moved from Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) club Kano Pillars, is one of the highest goal scorers for the outfit.
Gambo has won three NPFL titles with the Kano Pillars in his decade-long association with the club and has also represented them in the CAF Champions League.
The 30-year-old made his international debut in 2012 and has been capped seven times for Nigeria. He was a part of the Nigerian team in the match against Spain at the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil.
“It is a great pleasure to be associated with the legendary club and I am excited to keep living my passion for football and keep performing well as we strike more goals together,” Gambo said in a statement.
East Bengal, based in the Indian city of Kolkata, have great ambitions, MSN.com

The club management is also in advance talks with Spanish coach Alejandro Menendez Garcia.
The club has also been busy in the transfer market. They secured the services of 2018 Costa Rican World Cupper,Johnny Acosta, which was one of the biggest signings in Indian football.
Acosta has arrived in Kolkata, but he is awaiting legal formalities to make his debut at the ‘Kolkata Maidan.’

The Independent National Electoral Commission has said that more than 8,000 members of the National Youth Service Corps serving in Osun State will be deployed as ad hoc staff in the conduct of the September 22 governorship poll holding in the state.
According to the Resident Electoral Commissioners in the state, Olusegun Agbaje, “over 8,000 corps members are part of the expected 15,000 ad-hoc staff who are going to use for the conduct of the September governorship election. We have already sourced for over 90 per cent of the ad hoc staff we are going to be requiring for the election and most of them are from the higher institutions around.”
He also stated that the commission registered a total number of 1, 677, 384 voters as against 1, 407, 000 of 2014 but said out of these persons, 1, 144, 273, representing 68.5 per cent had collected their permanent voter cards while there were still 524, 251 uncollected cards.
The REC said, “We want to improve on the 2014 performance. We want to start by 8 am in all polling units across all local government areas of the state. This time around accreditation and voting would be done simultaneously. Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the disbursement of N2 million as a bonus payment to all Nigerian players who reached the Round of 16 and upwards at the just concluded 2018 ITTF Seamaster Nigeria Open table tennis tournament, irrespective of their States of Origin.
Executive Chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission, Kweku Adedayo Tandoh, who disclosed this during the closing ceremony of the tournament held at the Sir Molade Okoya Thomas Indoor Sports Hall, Lagos, commended the magnanimity of Governor Ambode, adding that the gesture is part of efforts by the State government to boost the morale of players and encourage them to reach for greater heights.
He said the Governor’s presence at the finals to cheer Quadri to victory, in spite of his tight schedule, was a demonstration of the passion and commitment to uplifting sporting activities in the State, adding that Lagos State will always reward Nigerian Athletes for their efforts and performances.
Topmost among the recipients of the Ambode’s gesture is Aruna Quadri, the first Nigerian winner of the tournament who defeated Frenchman Antione Hachard in a thrilling 4-2 encounter in the men’s singles. He received Governor Ambode’s N1 million bonus plus the sum of $5,000 prize money.
Other recipients include doubles quarterfinalists, the duo of Hassan Nurudeen and Jamiu Azeez Olugbenga; the pair of Omotayo Olajide and Segun Toriola, as well as Ojomu Ajoke and Oribamishe Esther. Funke Oshonaike and Akpan Cecilia who reached the round of 16 in the women’s singles also benefited from the largesse.

Three men including a Nigerian national were arrested from west Delhi's Uttam Nagar, India last week and over 5 kilogram high-grade heroin was seized from them.
The accused have been identified as Chigemezu alias Obiji, a 27-year-old Nigerian national, and Deepak Goel (28) and Harinder Pal (21). Obiji, who currently residents in Uttam Nagar, is the kingpin of the gang.
The trio smuggled heroin to Haryana, Punjab and Delhi-NCR from Afghanistan.
The Delhi Police Special Cell received an information that at about 6 pm, Goel and Pal would come from Rohini side in a Skoda car and would go towards Singhu Border via Mukarba Chowk to deliver consignments of heroin to drug dealers.
A team was constituted and a trap was laid and checking of vehicles was started by placing barricades near Mukarba Chowk. At about 6:30 pm, the car in which two persons were sitting was spotted.
The driver was signalled to stop the car, but he tried to escape by taking a U-turn but he could not succeed. Finding themselves surrounded by the police, both the occupants of the car started running to escape, but they were apprehended by the members of the raiding party. Their search was taken which resulted in the recovery of 4.5 kg heroin.
“During interrogation, they have disclosed that they used to source heroin from Obiji, their Nigerian associate, and they further used to supply heroin to drug dealers in Haryana and Punjab. Accused Goel disclosed that about 2 years ago he was lodged in Patiala jail in a narcotic drug case where he met Obiji who was also lodged in that jail in another narcotic drug case. After getting bail, Goel contacted Obiji who had also come out from Jail. Goel started procuring heroin from Obiji. Goel has been indulging in drug supplying for more than five years. Pal who usually acted as a carrier has been indulging in drug supply for more than two years. During this period both have already procured more than 80 kg heroin and have supplied the same to various drug peddlers in north India,” said PS Khushwah, DCP (Special Cell).
On Goel’s instance, raids were conducted in various parts of Uttam Nagar and Obiji was arrested on Monday and 750 gm of heroin was recovered from him.

Wife of former president Olusegun Obasanjo, Taiwo Obasanjo, was recently a guest on The Interview with Tope Olowniyan on Linda Ikeji TV where she spoke on the controversies surrounding her only son, Olujonwo's marriage to billionaire daughter, Tope Adebutu.
Olujonwo and Tope got married in May 2017 and are already in court to annul the marriage owing to irreconciliable differences. Mrs Obasanjo in June, released different statements detailing what her son and Chief Obasanjo's family members told her that led to the failure of Olujonwo and Tope's one-year old marriage.

Members of the House of Representatives, who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from All Progressive Party (APC) on Tuesday, have laughed off the dream of the APC that they will make a U-turn and return into its fold.
The members noted that the decision to dump the ruling party didn’t come easy but it came anyway, after they had weighed all other options and concluded that defection was the best.
Their reactions came on the heels of fresh reconciliation moves by the APC and alleged offer of return tickets to the members to contest the 2019 polls.
Thirty-seven lawmakers had on Tuesday defected from the APC. Thirty-two of the lawmakers defected to the PDP, while four members moved to the African Democratic Congress.
One member has yet to name his new party.
The Coordinator of the 32 defectors, Mr. Razak Atunwa, reacted angrily to the thought of returning to the APC.
Atunwa, who is the chairman, House Committee on Justice, said the APC had “limited understanding” of governance, a reason the party reduced the defection to just return ticket.
He said, “Ticket or no ticket, this is a decision that we have taken and we know this is the best.
“We are talking about fundamental national issues, lack of good governance and generally, a government that has failed to deliver on its promises to the Nigerian people.
“When you reduce it to ticket, you make this whole fight look unserious or merely which party has majority or not majority. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the Buhari presidency has become a citadel of liars where deceptive lies are churned out daily to beguile Nigerians.
The party was reacting to a presidency statement credited to the Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang, claiming that members of the National Assembly, who reunited and those who joined the PDP have agreed to work for Buhari in the 2019 election.
Dispelling the submission as a hallucination of a failing government, the PDP said the Buhari presidency has become so jittery over its imminent loss of the 2019 election that it now recourse to bare-faced lies and childish blackmail.
The PDP said such will not save the disintegrating All Progressives Congress (APC) from drowning.
In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party maintains that those who deserted the sinking ship of APC did so in protest against the incomptences of President Muhammadu Buhari leading to the unabating killings, bloodletting and biting economic hardship across our nation in the last three years.
PDP further says that the APC-led Federal Government has woefully failed to deliver on any of its promises and has nothing to showcase except a recourse to underhand tactics and intimidation of opponents and perceived enemies.
Those who left the APC are therefore no longer prepared to continue living a lie that everything is okay with our nation, whereas under the leadership of President Buhari the drift towards anarchy as well as the indices of a failing state are very manifest.
The PDP therefore finds it ludicrous that the Presidency can sit back and claim that compatriots who have seen ahead that President Buhari is taking our nation to nowhere will turn around and contemplate casting their votes for him in 2019.

Tonsil Stones are created when the trapped debris in the tonsils calcifies. The tonsils are filled with crannies and nooks where bacteria, dead cells and mucus become clogged to. The trapped materials then form a debris, which accumulates in white formations in the pockets. The debris may be big enough to protrude and get clogged in the tonsil crypt. Tonsil stones are among the major causes of bad breath. They are more common in people who have suffered chronic inflammation in their tonsil or have had repeated bouts of tonsil stones.
