Politics / Abia Youths Vow To Vote Out PDP by TrueNaijaguy: 3:48pm On Dec 28, 2014
Abia Youths for Change, Lagos Chapter has condemned the December 8, 2014 governorship primary in the state that produced Mr. Okezie Ikpeazu as the party’s flagbearer for the 2015 election, and vowed to vote against the party if the result was not reversed.

While speaking with journalists on Saturday, the youths alleged that the primary was marred with irregularities and accused the state governor of imposing his choice, Ikpeazu on the party against the people’s choice, Dr. Samson Uchechukwu Ogah.

According to the President of the group, Ikenna James, and the National President of Ohafia Youths, Engr. Ukariwe Ajike Godwin, delegates to the primary were ‘fake’ as they were selected by the governor.

“The supposed delegates were fake as they were chosen by the governor.

They were kept in governor’s house for 72hours and their phones seized so they could vote for the governor’s choice. Police and military men without army badge and names were used to beat people,” they claimed.

They added: “We are not pleased with the outcome of the primary, so we want it declared null and void. President Jonathan should look into Abia’s case or else we would mobilise Abians against PDP in 2015. Ikpeazu is not the people’s choice.”

The secretary of the group, Chima Joel and its Public Relations Officer, PRO Nnenna Kalu said the youths in the state would defend their votes against PDP in 2015 with their blood, adding that they might resort to legal action to press their demands.

“Abia is the worst governed state in Nigeria. Ikpeazu means the last person in Igbo language. The youths are yearning for change in Abia but the governor wants to bring somebody who will not perform like him.

We are crying for Abia and we are ready to defend our votes against PDP with our blood if PDP fails to present the people’s choice. The president should drop Ikpeazu if he wants our votes,” they threatened.

Sir, I trust you will deliver Abia State from the wilderness. We haven't tasted good governance since 1993 and it's really affecting the citizens. Please come and rescue us. Abia is in real bondage.

I was to choose between you and Dr Uche Ogah but since the latter is no more in the race, I urge you to pleas bring him close so that the mission will be accomplished.

Politics / Re: Abia Guber: Dr Alex Otti Vs Okezie Ikpeazu. Who Is Better? by TrueNaijaguy: 4:19pm On Dec 09, 2014
I go for Alex Otti, its very easy. Judging by their track record, Otti will floor Ikpeazu anyday, anytime. Imagine 24 years of meritorous service in the banking sector vs ASEPA second in command for a few years. This is simply a mismatch. Abians should vote wisely. Abians should vote for Otti so they can enjoy good governance which has eluded the state since the exit of Ogbonnaya Onu in 1993

Politics / All 36 Governors Agreed To Participate In The Good Governance Tour-Gov.Uduaghan by TrueNaijaguy: 4:54pm On Feb 21, 2013
As the National Good Governance Tour of Nigeria's South South geopolitical region continues Thursday in Asaba, the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has reaffirmed his support for the programme charging members of the team, led by the Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku to remain focused despite negative comments.

Uduaghan spoke in Asaba when the NGGT team paid a courtesy call on him at the Government House. Governor Uduaghan who stressed the imperative of the Tour to bring to the front burner progress being made by Government at all levels, confirmed that all the 36 state governors had endorsed the programme on the Platform of the Governors' Forum.

"I confirm and reaffirm that we all collectively agreed to this programme," he said. "As a State Government we are very very supportive of this programme. We thank you for your efforts so far. Please I also want to say that you shouldn't be discouraged. The hallmark of leadership is that you see the good, bad and the ugly and let the ugly not derail you from your focus.

"I also want to thank Mr. President who has agreed to release you for this project. Although it is not a federal government project, if the President has said that he would not be a part of it, then there is no way you would have been part of it. "And it also shows how open he wants to be as a President. It also shows he has nothing to hide. He also wants to be assessed by the Tour Team", Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan noted.

He further appreciated the NGGT team for the work being done pointing out that from his personal experience, the whole exercise could be strenuous. While urging the media to be objective and focus reports more on progress, the Governor said "A lot of issues make front burner in the Media but issues that have to do with development even when they are positive, are tucked away which I think is not encouraging and will not help us move forward".

He also appealed to the media to be more specific when reporting on the Niger Delta observing that people, especially those outside Nigeria are of the notion that Delta State stands for the Niger Delta which is made up of 8 other States. He equally informed the Team that his administration has adopted a strategy tagged 'Delta Beyond Oil' which he said is being driven through the State Government's 3 Point Agenda.

The Governor further informed that progress was also being recorded by the state in the areas of peace and security, infrastructural development and human capital development. Earlier, the Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku said contrary to comments the National Good Governance Tour is not a Federal Government programme but has the inclusion of the 36 state governments.

"This Programme was tabled before the Federal Executive Council and it was debated there and the President directed that the programme should be presented to the National Economic Council", Mr. Maku stated. We stressed the need to leave partisanship. The Governors' Forum set up a special committee of Governors chaired by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State to further debate the programme and they all agreed on a common template for the tour".

Speaking further on the Tour's participation, the Information Minister said, "If you look at all the people that are seated here, they come from all of society. So all we are doing is just to lead the path to show them what it is that government is doing. "We have gone through states that are not PDP. We have been to a CPC controlled state and they were elated when they heard the comments by the team on the projects, and the publicity it brought to them. We have sworn an oath not to be partisan. We have been to APGA states and letters of commendation have even been written to us".

Maku said "Progress and challenges are not at the same level because resources are not at the same level either; some states are as old as Nigeria itself. We cannot say progress has not been made but we know that we can do better to achieve greater results. "When we started, people were nervous may be because the Minister of Information is on the delegation and we are going to say something partisan. We will make sure that we do everything transparently and accountably to the people of Nigeria.

"We believe that this programme should start a national conversation on development, on progress, on welfare of the people. Our parties may be different, our thinking different, we may be competing with each other for power, but we are doing this to deliver services to the people. "Once you are elected as a Governor, you are no longer a PDP Governor, you are Governor of everybody in your state no matter the parties we belong to and you are working for the whole of society.

"Our democracy is still very young, we are just 13 years old and people don't see the difference that is being made because democracy by nature involves arguments, involves disputes between those in power and society and sometimes in the midst of this disputes. "The people are confused because their attention is not focused on the progress being made in the midst of these disagreements and it was important therefore that we all come together to reassure our citizens"

"Leadership is the most difficult job in the world, especially political leadership. Governance must be removed from pure partisanship He said "Part of this movement is to show people what is happening in the country. There is tremendous work being done in the states but this is not being reported in the media. For instance in Delta State, the Minister observed that there have been notable changes since his first visit then as a Political Editor with the Champion Newspaper, Lagos in 1991 when he followed the then Head of State and Military President General Ibrahim Babangida.

Maku said "Nobody will come to Asaba today and say it is the same thing. Even if you are blind, you can not say there are no changes. "The last time I left the Tour in Enugu there was no flight so to return here the following day I had to fly to Asaba Airport and that was the first time I was flying through Asaba. So when I arrived here and saw the Airport, I knew that it is quite different from the old generation airports we were constructing. So you cannot say that progress has not being made.

Its becoming more embarrinssing for Sahara Reporters going by the reports about their bias, incompetence and lack of proffessionalism and dedication to their duties but i will like us to thread with caution.

Yes, a lot of credible persons/organisations have come out with facts branding SH as liars on so many issues in recent past but it will be better if we hear what they (Sahara Reporters) have to say about this press release, that way they will be crucified the more if no credible exlanation is made or they will be vindicated if they can show us facts both in picture and otherwise that their claims indeed happened.

Sahara Reporters over to you guys, this might be your last chance to save your already declining image.

I don't just know why people raise some issues where there's no need for it. If there was no reponse from The FG most haters will still blame GEJ for being quiet. There's a difference between trading words and responding to a statement in order to dispell unnecessary insinuations.

There was nothing wrong with the response. It's simply a direct message to the sponsors of this deadly group that have decided that Nigeria will not be. Rather than waste our time on criticising GEJ we should invest more time on vigilance so that we can report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

Don't mind them my brother. The 'GEJ is always wrong' bug spread by some selfish politicians have caught up with them. One day some people that have never seen the unclothedness of a woman talkless of getting married will say GEJ doesn't know how to sleep with his wife.

yohanna zack: We dont hav to blame dis guy, cus dis guy is as empty as anytin. Someone else can talk abut the emancipation of the black race and not gej. Reason bin dat, rite frm home, he hardly make comment and people aplaud him. To me, he lacks every qualities to make such comments. I wuld hav prefered he talked abut corruption, wars, insecurity, poverty, hunger in africa. When all these are taken care of, i bet u every sphere of black race wuld be splendid. He sees himself as president of the most populos black nation, but he doesnt hav schools to train those repented niger delta militants, he has no electricity, no water for his people to drink, no road, as a matter of fact, nigeria records highest road accidents in the world. I wached him live, and immediately i knew he has messed up, cus dat guy, i dont knw how to describe him. I think his wife makes more sense compare to him. Maybe we wil vote his wife in 2015. Lol

Ignororance is the deadliest disease in existence and it consumes those who despite see the truth, decide to lie blatantly just to either gain cheap popularity or to mislead people like him for selfish gains.

What do you mean that 'people' don't applaud GEJ when he makes comment? Which people were you referring to in your statement? El-rufai, Tinubu or Buhari? Or you and your likes that sound confused.

You sound as if GEJ is the cause of our challenges in Education, water supply, electricity, roads etc as you mentioned? He inherited all those problems and pledged to make things better and he's doing that. The long decay in all sectors of our livelihood requires time and commitment to solve but in Nigeria some people most especially 'bad belle' and selfish people demand for 'quick fix' just to use that opportunity to discredit the government.

Are you blind to the reforms going on in the education sector which includes review of curriculum, retirement age of lecturers, reorganising the UBEC distribution scheme, establishment of more Universities and thorough screening on existing ones to find out their challenges and fix them amongst others? What of the Completed gas power stations all over the country awaiting gas supply to start full operation? What of the PIB in the NASS, if passed into law will stop the loss of about $2.2 billion a day to gas flaring and make us self sufficient in gas so we can supply our power plants and even export without interruption? What of the 100 large capacity rice mills and 18 cassava flour plants secured from China for self sustainance in rice production and cassava flour as substitute to wheat flour and also introduction of hybrid seedlings to replace the old low yield seedlings our farmers have known for ages. All these will take some time to make a meaningful impact in our lives.

Rant all you can, GEJ will continue to roll out his policies from the nitty-gritty of each of them. This is the only way they can be sustained and turned in overall benefit of all of us. We should understand where we are coming from and appreciate the efforts being made to make things right. #longlivenaija

Lagos horror: Two human heads found in FESTAC duplex –Police

The Lagos State police command said yesterday that contrary to reports, two human heads were found in the FESTAC residence of the Ajayi family last Thursday. Two brothers, Toye and Omotola Ajayi, now detained, were arrested for the alleged murder of their younger sibling, 39-year-old Akinbiyi Ajayi.

Shedding more light on what can be described as Lagos horror, the command’s spokesperson, Conchita Ngozi Braide, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), told Daily Sun at her Oduduwa, Ikeja office that one of the heads was fresh. Braide said that the stench from the Ajayis’ duplex forced neighbours to invite the police. The residents, she noted, said they could not stand the odour.

Braide said apart from the human heads, a deceased whose head, hands, half legs, and private parts were chopped off, were also recovered from the house. Omotola and Toye Ajayi were nabbed by  policemen attached to Area ‘E’ FESTAC Command and the FESTAC Division. According to her, their neighbours could no longer tolerate the stench from the Ajayis’ duplex. The police spokesperson said flies were perching at a particular spot where policemen later found out was the room the suspects allegedly kept the human parts.

She said the residents complained that they could not get fresh air or eat in their homes because of the odour. She said they reported the matter to the police, while detectives from FESTAC Division followed the complainants to the scene.  As they approached the building, Omotola was coming out of it.

She said Omotola was holding a polythene bag. The detectives arrested him. As they were moving towards the station, the policemen perceived an offensive odour around them. One of them ordered Omotola to open the polythene bag in his possession. When he did, they were astonished to see human parts, including private parts of a man.

Braide said more policemen were drafted to the building by Area ‘E’ Commander, Mr. Damian Okoro, while Assistant Commissioner of Police. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) FESTAC, Mr. Mohammed Mu’Azu, a Chief Superintendent, led another team to the scene where they arrested Toye and Omotola.

Among the things recovered were the dismembered body, two heads, private parts, white pot filled with blood, male and female dummies, charms, amulets, three power generating sets, among others.   The Police spokesperson advised Lagosians to report their neighbours to the police when they perceive an offensive odour emanating from a house.

She also advised Lagosians to avoid black spots, especially in the night. Braide said policemen attached to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, are investigating the matter, adding that the case would be charged to court after thorough investigation.

Politics / Battle of the First Ladies-Dame Patience wins round one? by TrueNaijaguy: 7:43am On Aug 03, 2012
FORMER Federal Capital Territory Minister, Dr. Aliyu Moddibo Umar, has cleared the air over the genesis of the controversy surrounding the plot of land allocated by the FCT Administration for building the continental secretariat of African First Ladies Peace Mission (AFLPM), saying he indeed allocated the plot to AFLPM in 2008.

The clarification came as the National Human Rights Commission yesterday began investigations into claims of alleged forced evictions received from Makoko waterfront communities in Lagos, charging federal and state governments not to breach the peoples’ rights in their quest for urban development.

According to Moddibo, who served as Minister of FCT between 2007 and 2008, it was his successor, Alhaji Adamu Aliero, who changed the concept of the land and re-allocated it to Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (WAYEF) belonging to former First Lady, Hajiya Turai Yar’ Adua, two years later.

The former minister spoke in an interview with the Hausa Service of the Voice of America yesterday. The report was monitored in Abuja, according to a statement made available to The Guardian by the FCT Minister’s Special Assistant (SA) on Media and Public Affairs, Nosike Ogbuenyi.

According to Moddibo, there was no controversy about it as the land in question was allocated to ALPM and a Certificate of Occupancy (C of 0) prepared for the Mission.

Moddibo said in the interview: “When I became Minister, I brought the idea for the building of the secretariat as a legacy the former First Lady would leave behind. I consulted the former President (late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua) and advised him on the project, and after the wife became the leader of the African First Ladies Mission. I told him that the NGO needed a secretariat to build an edifice just like the Women Centre built by late Maryam Babangida and the National Hospital built by Maryam Abacha.

“He (Yar’Adua) agreed and told me to look for a land. When I eventually found the land, I prepared a Certificate of Occupancy and the Structural Design of the proposed secretariat before I reported back to him. He appreciated the effort and directed me to meet her with the proposal. After a discussion, she accepted the idea and set up a committee which comprised the FCTA and Foreign Affairs officials as well as Maryam Abacha, late Murtala Muhammed’s wife (Ajoke) and Patience.”

The former FCT Minister said that the late President Yar’Adua warned him not to allocate any land to either his wife or children. He clarified that he allocated the land to an NGO (AFLPM) and not an individual.

Efforts to get the response of Moddibo’s successor, Aliero, to explain why he allegedly re-allocated the same land to Turai for her private NGO, WAYEF, were not successful as his two numbers were not reachable.

As long as he is the President of this country, we should learn how to tailor our choice of words when talking about him. We should give him the respect he deserves. After his tenure elapses, then you can curse him or kill verbally for all i care. But as long as he remains the President of this country. Let's give him the respect associated with that office. No be beans to become President ooo

I just pity those who have taken it upon themselves to attack every step that GEJ takes. I thank God all the same that all those destructive attacks does not stop him from achieving what he promised Nigerians. If he doesn't travel, they will say he just sits at home when he's supposed to be with world leaders, if he does it's running away from his country. I have to state here that all of you calling GEJ dumb are no where near his level of intelligence and maturity and that's the only reason why he ignores you.

If you are sensible enough, you should avoid generalisation of issues and take time to find out what the President's rights and wrongs, compare and politely offer your contributions to the development of this country.
