FireTheSun: I think you meant well, so l will respond to your Post.
There is a reason they write "Caveat Emptor" (Buyers Beware) on a Wall, but dont attach anybody's name to it. We might ask: Why dont they name the Person they think wants to sell the House? Why make a "general Notice without naming anyone (This might not be a perfect example though) But it still works because it puts everyone on "General Notice/Awareness". It is now left for an intended Buyer to do more due diligence, to find out the rightful owner and verify any claim that is made..
It may appear contradictory to some that l mentioned the issue, (though it was just an "aside-remarks" in relation to the beautiful Installation done by @Chris ), but l did not mention the Name of the Installer, it has reasons.
Most People think the whole idea behind making a REVIEW, is to DESTROY a Business or a Product, the inherent reason of making a Review, in my own understanding, is to make the Seller/Producer/Product BETTER. How you achieve this is to let the Seller/Producer/Product Owner know that "there is a possibility for damage to his/her Brand, if he/she does not IMPROVE their 'Game'.
I am too matured to want to destroy the Business of a younger person, despite the damage it caused me but l want him to know, openly here that it wont be "Business as usual" and he has to either IMPROVE or STOP Installing Panels. Just that, l have achieved my own set objective.
But from your Statement, you asked: How will that Help others not to fall Victim? Good Question! Three ways: 1) The Installer in Question is reading this and he knows that he is just a Click-away from being Unmasked! If you were him, will you repeat the same awful job or you will step up your game and start doing good jobs? My own conclusion is that he will IMPROVE, which is my desire, not to damage his Brand or Business beyond repair. That is left for very Vindictive people like the rude, uncouth boy running his mouth all over the place. Always trying to damage others, he tried to damage @Valto at a point. He tried to rundown @Niyi's Installation at a point, insulting both of them.
2) Any genuine Client who wants to engage an Installer, has the liberty to contact me and ask PRIVATELY, that l let him know if the Person he wants to engage, is the Installer who damaged my Roof. That way, l do not damage the Brand of the 'wayward' installer but l could alert the Client on another Installer or ask him to supervise this my installer properly. That way, any Client will still have achieved the same Objective they want to achieve, if the Installer was named.
3) A Client, having read the "Buyers Beware" Post l made earlier, has the duty to ask any Installer he wants to engage, to PROVIDE "REFERENCE" from owners of former Jobs done i.e. give me the Phone number of one or Two Clients you've Installed for, let me speak with them. The advantage in this, is two fold: (a) He wont be able to do so, if he has damaged his reputation or did a bad job. (b) He probably would, if he values his Brand, ensure that he does not leave "a bad taste in the Mouth" of other Customers and this is where the "desired improvement" on the part of the installer, comes in.
The Installer that did my Job is reading this, he knows he did wrong but l wont Name him just "so l can damage him", ....... because l am not just that type of Person. My aim is not to "destroy" but "to build", to make others better, to improve others, to be constructive in my criticism and l am doing it as l deemed it most fit.
I wont let any manner-less, untrained runt from the gutter goad me into doing what l believe is "not the best" of actions. I am past that stage in Life! It is left for anyone who thinks the post is useful to him, to read it, otherwise he can skip it . Go through the posts of this @truthbetold22 guy and you would see that he has INSULTED almost everybody on this thread, (from page 679 - 681 are all his Insults on members), from Mctfopt, Ceasser, Valto, Niyi, bigrovar, solasola, durodee, Barezzi, etc and same thing on other threads. Everyone who does not do things his way, is Stupid, is an Idiot, is a Fool, bla, bla, bla! His default position is to use foul language on others and it is a reflection of his Upbringing.
Go through his Post, it is jus about abusing People, no sense, no value, no contribution but all Insults. You cant give what you dont have. Its like putting a Pig, in a China Shop! A Child raised in the Gutter, even if you put him on a well-laid Bed, he will roll around, fall down and roll into the Gutter where he belongs.
This is a faceless forum but a few People here have had "contact with me offline", including the Installer who did my Roof and they would testify that l am not the kind of person that empty empty brain expect me to be. .. |

Obviously, you have a huge comprehension problem because No where in my Post, did l mention the Name of who did a Good Job, nor who did a bad Job. Shut up sir. If you could give a review about a bad job, then you should mention the name. If you choose not to mention the name of the installer, then it means you are either a coward or nothing of such ever happened and you are just trying to hype or promote an installers job. Nonetheless, you have not helped anyone with your useless, half-complete review. FireTheSun: Waoh! Nice, Professional job you have done up there! I envy this install, just looking at it right now.
Unlike what an Installer on this thread, did to my Roof when l asked that he install just Ten Units of Panels on my Roof. This installer and his Team so damaged my Roof that at the end of the day, l am considering buying NEW Aluminum Steptiles Roofing Sheet to cover the whole area those Panels were installed.
My Roof has never leaked since about Six years l built this particular Storey building, l live in this one so l know it has never experience a leakage but after the installation, it has been multiple leakages here and there. The Team of Installers just use their feet to crush the Aluminium Roofing Sheets, causing big depressions everywhere. I have had Roofers try to plug the leakages created but getting the Depressions to "push back up and normalize" is a daunting task, as the damage was just too extensive. I have concluded l have to replace all those areas where the Panels are located, and their surrounding Sheets as well. Imagine incurring a damage of over #2M, in the course of a job of less than #100,000?
It is a lesson to me, to always check the previous work of an installer, seek reference from previous Clients, before giving out a job Hobbyist or Sellers should stop claiming to be Professional Installers.
BTW: I have since added Five more Panels (655W each), to the other Side of the Building's Roof, done by another Installer and without any issue from that side. So you can name the installer who did a good job but you prefer that Nairalanders fall prey to the installer who ruined your roof so we can incur the same damages of 2 million like you? There is a reason why people give reviews. If you cannot name the installer who did a bad job, then keep shut. This has happened one too many times on this thread. What are you protecting? Nigerians are hypocrites. |

Valto: like i said lifepo4 lithium is not for everyone. moreover i never advertised any 200ah cells, so where is this outburst coming from . if e easy, import your so called meritsun for 1500$ x590=885,000, then ship it(note lithium is shipped as dangerous goods, hence more than double the normal shipping fee) u pay outrageous shipping fees + a 4months wait, then as mr do good, sell it for 900k. cheers Lithium batteries are not shipped via air. A cbm shipment via ocean freight isn’t more than 100k. One meritsun battery is less than 1/5th of a cbm so go figure. 1.2 Million is what it would cost if you consider that you need 32 pieces of your 3.2v 100ah to make a 200ah bank. Multiply by 38k which you are asking and you already have over 1.2 million. That is a ridiculous price for what you are offering without a bms. Do not forget that meritsun comes with a BMS and already top balanced and a ready made case. Sorry sir, no offense intended but this is greed. I I will show anyone who wants to import meritsun how to get it done. Say no to exploitation. |

@georged1,
I think your attempt to prove that lead acid trumps lithium is bais at best. Lithium technology has come a long way and beats lead acid in every department. Everyone keeps referring to your previous LA bank but that bank has a lot of untold stories. For one, I remember you had 800ah of battery capacity. You also had over 40kw of solar panels if I am not mistaking. You have also mentioned that you rarely cycle more than 30% daily. At 30% dod, most good LA batteries will easily do what the Zeniths did. It wasn't special. What you must note is that to get away with such low dod, you need to have a really large bank which you did and a large array too. For the average enthusiast, that is an impossibility as the initial outlay would be outrageous. You only got that longevity due to your use of the battery. If you look at the cycle life graphs of lead acids, you would find that there is a significant difference between discharging to 70% vs discharging to 50%. Are you now saying we should all get 800ah banks and 40kw panel capacity to be able to enjoy longevity with our batteries?
I ll summarize as follows
1- Firstly, even the second class lithium batteries advertise 3000 cycles at 80% dod with a 2 year warranty. That is something only the very best lead acid batteries can dream of. That is almost 10 years of battery usage if you do a cycle a day. Regular lead acids cap out in a couple of years at 50% DOD if you are lucky. Don't tell me, I have gone through a few banks.
2- Considering how bad our weather can be in the southern part of Nigeria coupled with struggling to get 3-4 hours of sunshine daily, it is a no brainer to use lithium which can charge at 1c should need be and get your battery to full capacity as quickly as possible especially in the raining season unlike with a lead acid battery that takes forever to charge at 0.1c and then has to do all the absorption thing. This is very important for people who rarely have grid electricity and/or have a small bank.
3- Lithium chemistry is way more efficient than lead acid and looses less energy to the storage and discharge process which means you have access to more energy per ah.
4- As a result of 4 above, you can power heavy appliances off relatively small banks. Something that would only be a dream with lead acid.
That you haven't embraced lithium doesn't make your lead acid bank better. The world is evolving and if you choose to remain with old technology, you may have your reasons. However, do not try to prove on a public forum that lithium is all hype. There are more than 15 active members on this thread who have made the switch to lithium and not 1 has anything negative to say about it 1 year down the line so what is your point exactly? People got burnt with lead acid for many years until the best brands were identified. Heck, people are still getting burnt even today so why assume lithium will burn you?
There is a reason phones and laptops use lithium and 10 years after, the batteries still work. Stick with your lead acid if you want but your arguments are obsolete. Lead acid can never be better than lithium. Initial outlay, yes. Satisfaction over time, a BIG no. It is no longer a function of whatever works for you. Even though it works for you, you should be gracious enough to accept that there is something better out there. That I drive a Toyota Corolla and it works perfectly for me doesn't make the car better than a Lamborghini.
@niyi,
It would be lame for anyone to assume that diy lithiums would beat pylons in longevity. That would be wrong comparison. For 1, the fact that advertised cycle life for pylons is 6000 already says a lot. Price is another thing. The point however that you need to note is that if I buy grade b lithium for 1.5 million naira and you buy pylons of same capacity for 5 million naira, if my bank lasts 5 years and pylons last 10 years, I still got way better value for money than you did. I can afford to swap out after 5 years and still have great change. So it really shouldn't be about which battery would last longer, it should be about actual value for money or price per kw.
Thank you all. |

hmmmmm.
it has taken me 2 hours to read through all the insults and issues regarding sooperrescue and the oil guy and this is my take on the matter.
1- sooperrescue, you seem to be a prominent nairalander with a cult following on range rovers. For this alone, I am dissapointed that you would allow dis degenerate to this level. You hav way more 2 loose than the oilguy. Just know that your customers are watching wether you like it or not.
2- no matter what you say, it is very clear that you are either helpishere or you are closely related to him. If you have a money problem with the seller and all of a sudden, someone related to you starts attacking the seller's product, it is clear to all diserning eyes that you have something to do with it and it is a personal vendetta. So wether u worked with helpishere 10 years ago or last month as u claim, you sure know him so u know what is going on.
3- u owe the seller, you cannot owe someone and try to discredit his product, a product you have been buying for the last one year and expect him not to be mad at you. truth has to be told here and I am not sure why other nairalanders like gazzuzz, diportivo, legalwealth, dannybrasky and co have not waded into the matter to correct your errors.
4- That you are importing or selling motor oils does not mean you have to be an engineer or a genius on oils. Constantly talking about specs is boring. The average nigerian just wants to know if it is original mobil and if it is 0w20 or 5w30 as stated by car manufacturer.
5- There are people on nairaland selling cheaper than the oil guy as pointed out in one of your posts, they are importers too. It is a buyers market and supply and demand affects prices.
6- The oil guy, I advise you to seek redress outside here rather than continuing to engage and insult. It is business gone wrong which happens from time to time.
Finally, sooper rescue sir, this has gone on too long and is damaging your brand, take this off nairaland as another poster opined above. u ar 2 respected for this. |

efuro: Oga truthbetold22 I get your gist as it relates to optimizing ones’ energy need vis-à-vis generation to make an economic sense. I also know you do not intend image harm to Comrade Niyi. However, you seems to MISS one important fact and that is the fact that many of us here (at least for better half of a decade) are solar hobbyist or Solar DIY addict. To me, I can tell you straightaway that the points you are weighing or canversing do not apply when you are a Solar Hobbyist or DIY addict. The mid-point between economics and actual energy needs becomes oblivious, what becomes obvious is your inner quest to achieve your grand innate desire being brought afore from your sub-consciousness. I have garnered a lot from Niyi’s design particularly having 38,400KWH Battery Bank Lead Acid self balancing loops theory which empirically helped the bank despite 2yrs counting in spite thorough regular use. If I apply your cautious observation to my battery bank I will probably just need 9,600KWH since I always get away with overnight voltage of 48.2v at that level then. Perhaps being an addict made me markup more batteries to 38,400KWH, at this set point, I rarely deplete it beyond 52.1v or 50.6v with intermittent Air Conditioning. My point now Oga truthbetold22, I think Niyi’s investments in renewables goes beyond your cautious observation, it has become an obsession that is familiar with us as a solar addicts. Some will even buy battleborn lithium battery and teardown I have done that before with a 2 months old Microteck Inverter as well as other ones. The last one I did failed coming on and it is receiving attention from a guru on this forum. This do not necessarily mean one has endless resources to play with but I know you understand the word ADDICT. You made a sweeping statement without any proof or data and then you are asking people to disproof you. Some people have this thing called jobs. The annoying thing about the internet is .. you are probably some man child catching trips trolling this channel. I won't even respond to you again. I am getting a 50kw solar system.. go and hug transformer Oga quiet, you are probably a poor man who lives in fantasies and in one village house in ikorodu.. Stop trying hard.. some of us are employers and can take all the time we want to reply people who don’t take the time to think before replying.. Niyi has obliged with his load.. time to decipher if he needs 19k watts.. no time to reply Dullards |

ceaser: Eeya. It's so sad. Funny enough you could turn out to be one of my residents, that's how small the world could be. After all NL is a world of anonymity.
But you've been a great disappointment to the medical profession with your depositions.
Except those that may have been patient enough to decipher thru some of my subtleties on NL, not many will ever think that I have attained the highest level in the medical profession (on the clinical side of course). Yet I never tried to brag about it nor rub it in the faces of anyone.
Truly, as Barezzi opined, people in the west mostly mind their business. Such outlooks about life also come from experience and exposure, two vital things that is apparently lacking in your make up.
If you truly are a doc as earlier alleged, then I honestly think you need to do a deep introspect to know if medicine was really your calling. You must be a native doctor.. resident my foot.. anonymous forum where anyone can claim anything. Oga u are nothing jare.. did you see me post about being a doctor? Na u carry am for head o |

ceaser: Tell me something. So the guy na medico? But I'm dead sure Medicos are usually above average and if any medico chooses to be this caustic by virtue of personal attitude (rather than that instituted by their professional training), then it usually is not this terrible.
This one fall hand gan o.
Hmmm. Na wa o. I am what u will and can never be. Analytical reasoning is far from a Nigerian and very far from you as you have proven. Even Niyi is silent cos he knows he dare not post his appliances.. Again, 19,000 solar capacity watts and 100,000 watts energy usage daily is ridiculous for a house or flat is ridiculous at best. Kill urself if you want to, it won’t change anything |
