Yujin: Let me put your statement in another way. Are you saying you prefer to die a slave than fight a war? I don't pretend not to understand what informed your fears. You've said them already and it was quite a huge loss I must say but that is not sufficient for a real Igbo man to chose servitude for the rest of his life. I admonish you to appraise the situation again and you may have a change of mind. I will not support a war that will fought on emotional and reactionary basis. A war without defined plan is madness. I won't fight such a war and I know ndigbo won't fight such a war again. This time around every Igbo man should have a special goal for our people outside his other goals and that should be the freedom of our people. Anything you can do, design or buy should be to inflict maximum damage on any group who would want to be an impediment to our God given right. Our freedom should be more important than the lives of our enemies. They have shown us that they won't want to us happy and so we should be irrational in our quest for freedom. This is why I say Nigeria will never survive her oppressive stance on our people. I have dedicated my life for that cause. Whether biological, nuclear or crude weapons will be employed. We are watching. Well said bros, i love that. U can't issue me a threat and expect me not to be prepared. We're watching. |

MadCow1: Wow.. E don tey sha..
You got it right, for oil accumulation to occur, you need the presence of structural or stratigraphic traps, a semi - permeable membrane and pressure.
The other fellow spoke about the age of the formations found on the Nigerian side if the basin being younger than that found in the same basin in the territorial regions of neighbouring countries. Well, the age of the Rock may be I portal for formation but not for migration and entrapment.
The truth is that the Geology of the basin supports the hypothesis that has led to the search. The basin is constituted of a mix of sedimentary and metamorphic rocks (mostly shale and sandstones). The general Idea is even that the oil in the Niger Delta flows (flowed) down from the chad basin through the Benue through and settled here. Yeah.. That's the academic hypothesis we were told. So the hope is that should they find 1 good trap in the basin, they may discover a stack of oil.
I am of the feeling they may get lucky. There is no reason not to search.
Truth is, I hope they find some, more money for Nigeria and maybe the north will finally enjoy what oil producing communities in the south south are enjoying. The have already spent over 200 millions dollars and dug up to 23 exploration wells without finding any oil and you still want them to continue. Even a joint venture bw shell ,Mobil and shlumberger as a leading exploration coy with all their sophisticated tech would have abondoned such a white elephant project after spending one- third of what NNPC has spent. Do u knw the started this exploration since 1970? |

MadCow1: You are right my dear, I am not a Geologist, I am a Geological Enigneer.. There is indeed a difference.
And just because seismic activities have not shown the hydrocarbons does not mean there isn't, that's why there are many ways of exploration and Seismology is just one of the non-intrusive forms of exploration.
Also, just because seismic activities have not yeilded any results (something which you and I are not certain of except you are a part of the exploration team in some capacity) does not mean there isn't any hydrocarbons there. And if neighboring countries that sit on basically the same geologic formations have found deposits and the NNPC claims to have found trace deposits in the area, on what authority do you dispute there findings I ask you? Or is this one of those beer palour arguments? Neigbouring countries having the same borde or formation? Thats where you mistake comes. Y is it that in my state Imo there is oil in Oguta bt no oil in Owerri? Don't the share the same territory, border and formation? Oil can form in any place cos oil is form as a result of anerobic decay of organic compounds. Bt what makes oil to accumulate in a particular place is as result of oil reservoir trap which stops further migration of oil, thus resulting in accumulation. If there is no such reservoir trap in a given area you can never find oil in that area. That explains y u find oil in neigbouring country with chad basin bt not in chad basin. There is no oil in chad basin, 4get what nnpc says. The r trying 2 make north to appear relevant. FYI, Petroleum Engineer |

MadCow1: I see I am chatting with a fellow geologist..
Please do tell me why hydrocarbons cannot be found in the Chad Basin?
I almost forgot, even the NNPC has announced that oil has been found in the basin. Tell me why you dispute thier findings. With advances in sesmic tech (now 4D) you don't need to explore oil in a particular area for decades. Chad basin exploration has been on going for more than 20yrs with over 200 million dollars spent. So far no wild cat or exploration wells have yielded any oil. |

MadCow1: I have heard the tales of the happening of 1967.. My father lost 4 brothers in one day to a Nigerian Army bombing raid in Aba. my Grandfather lost all his properties and his business to that war. My Maternal grandfather who was Ojukwus ADC during the war carried a bullet in him till he passed recently. Please don't try to tell me about that war, I have gotten first hand accounts from survivors and victims of that war. War comes with atrocities. Count your losses like we have counted ours, take the lessons and move on.
I don't thrive on sentiments as it beclouds common sense. To say the North contributes nothing to Nigeria would be a gross lie. The North carries most of Nigeria's solid minerals and Agriculture and should the exploration in the Chad Basin produce oil like the Geologist in me tells me it would, then they would be an oil producing region in addition.
I chose the moniker 'Mad Cow', does not in any way mean I am actually Mad or a Cow otherwise you may need to check yourself for having a conversation with an Animal.
You need to get your emotions in check my friend lest you cut your nose to spite your face. Geologist in you? You are not a geologist. With advances in sesmic exploration (now 4D) you don't need to explore oil in a particular area for more than one decades if oil is indeed there. Exploration has been in chad basin for more than 20yrs and over 200 millon dollars have so far been spent. It was a monumental loss cos most of the wild cat or exploration wells resulted 2 no oil. |

Rotimi47: Thanks for educating all these people who think they have a chance against the Nigerian military; they tend to forget that heavy military platforms couldn't be used against boko haram & the Niger Delta militants since they are few people fighting against the government; boko haram is a case of insurgency while the Niger Delta militant case is agitation ( militancy ), both are not real war situations and as such the full force of the military can never be brought to bare on them & the area they operate from. If it comes to real war the entire Niger delta will be captured in less than 3 month with limited casualties on the federal side as heavy platforms will be utilised eg long range weapons, smart bombs etc, their is a bomb in the Nigerian military inventory that can destroy half a city, this might be used against any of both parties, as for the biafrans they will loss the war 5 months at most and most of their surviving population will end up in Cameroon and others in equatorial Guinea but the destruction of the east will be too massive that all the destruction that took place in the various other wars in Africa will be child's play. The military defeated Niger Delta militants when they stopped being on the defensive and stop & search and went on a little offensive; the militants were killed in large numbers and buried in mass graves, this led to the amnesty program. A Word is enough for the wise as people outside these 2 regions have been insulted, harassed and intimidated by biafrans and the Niger Delta people and they are simply waiting for them to mistakingly take up arms and all hell will simply break loss to a level the biafrans and the Niger deltans and even the United Nations won't be able to handle it. I am a Niger Deltan who know what am talking about. A word is enough for the wise as who no go hear no go hear and na dem they follow war go. And you think with this kind of your statement Nigeria will be fine? Instead of you to condemn the statement made by your elder stateman you are here spewing rubbish! |

yoji: can't believe a rational person can say this. The question they should be asking is why didn't Jonathan probe his predecessor? its common sense that anybody taking over a new job will take stock of what was left for him to work with hence the probe. Jona didn't probe his prdecessors because they were the one that brought him into power. The same way Buhari is being selective and can't probe Atiku, Tinubu, Amechi, Obj etc becos they indrectly brought him into power. Simple logic and common sense! |

Flets: The ONLY hope for a sustainable united Nigeria is true federalism.
Let every region harness its resources/ potentials and grow at their paces. Enough of the free allocation from the center that has spurred widespread laziness across the land.
Let governors work to generate funds for their electorate. Its time to engage active minds to attract investments to the various states even if it means lowering tax rates and providing incentives to investors.
No governor will employ his kinsmen to govt when he knows the true challenge of generating the funds to run his state as no free allocation is coming at the end of the month. Governors will immediately prune down their size of government and all inefficiencies will be curtailed.
Its time we mean business in this country and quit jamboree. No progressive country runs the current system of democracy.
How exactly can a state that cannot generate 50million naira IGR get over a billion allocation? .... what exactly makes it a state?
Let the unproductive states merge with their productive neighbours. Let the sustainability of individual state entities determine the number of states in the country.
Why send more than a rep to the centre?, Let the regions determine how many reps they can afford their bills and take care of them.... and not paying from a federal pocket.
Which organisation anywhere in the world would spend over 1 billion naira in salaries when it generates less than 50 million in revenue?
Which democracy anywhere in the world runs this way? Nigeria is a big joke.
Ethnocentrism as we know it today will be relegated as every region will be forced to bring its value to the fore. No more cursing out on other tribes when you know they are integral to the sustainability of your region through commerce and taxes.
It takes governance close to the people, no need always pointing fingers to the FG and president when the governor or regional head is responsible.
Its going to help end violence across the land cos no one actually steals or destroys his own property or that for which he is responsible.
STOP THE FREE ALLOCATION MONEY. Its killing our potential. Inasmuchas i agree with you on true federalism, it will make some state to be stupidly rich, corrupt and lazy, while some state will be very poor. We will have a situation where a state or some states will be richer than an entire country. Lets not forget that some states are not natural endowed like their counterpart. However, it'll task the creativity of our governors to be up and doing in their legslative duties. Notwithstanding, i prefer a prudent management of our resources. |

Do you know the hoplessness of that? After spending 70% of your productive life in education you see yourself amounting to nothing because of a failed country. Have we asked ourselves the physcological effect it will have on our young generations? Could this be linked to the abysmal performance of the just realeased W.A.E.C, N.E.C.O and G.C.E where about 70% of the students failed? If you are not encuraged you'll be discouraged. kaypound: His words: “There is no such thing as probe in a democratic setting like ours. What obtains is investigation, and once people lead and things are not right, investigation becomes necessary.
“However, in doing that, we must never be distracted from the spectacular actions undertaken by former President Jonathan. He is an individual. I think this whole thing about probe can be ascertained once investigations are concluded. But we are saying that a lot of talks and speculation about this probe are the distractions nobody needs. “So, the most important thing is that we need a stable country first, before we can talk about these things. And they will have happened down the line”, he said

Politics › Re: Are Yorubas Truly The Most Educated In Nigeria? by TruthisGOD: 12:41am On Aug 07, 2015 |
new2020: Somewhat right but 60s? NO. Igbos led in education and occupation of most government and private leadership positions prior to the war...this was the primary cause of the war interpreted as "Igbo Domination". 70s, 80s and early 90s? YES. Why? They; the yorubas capitalized on the war and the damage done to the Igbos; this was part of the reason Awolowo pulled out of the supposed secession plan with Ojukwu..he felt if Igbos were crippled economically and socially by the war, the Yorubas will benefit. That's exactly what happened! However the Igbos have taken over from Late 90s till now with incredible high margin. ALL STATISTICS SAY SO...NOT ME!
Yorubas have always imbibed this "false illusion" of being the the most educated; I called it "false illusion" because it was never based on real merit and staunch competition. Why? The people who occupied that position before them; the Igbos, were crippled by the war, so in a real sense, the yorubas had no staunch competition. They just cruised around thinking they are the most educated. This also explains why the real owners of that position have since reclaimed it.
The analogy I routinely use to explain the aforementioned is: you can liken this to two runners in a race; one yoruba/contender and the other Igbo/a champion. At the sound of the gun, the umpire takes the sounding gun rather than sound it, he shoots the Igbo runner in the leg and then says run. The yoruba sped off and kept running while the Igbo who was injured by the gun-shot struggled intensely to get hold of his footing let alone run. As the Igbo struggled; limping in pain and bleeding profusely, the yoruba kept running without acknowledgement of his wounded rival; thinking he was the faster runner. To his surprise and far worse his chagrin, over time the Igbo who was limping was able to regain his wounded leg back and soon eclipsed him. The yoruba couldn't come to terms as to how the injured Igbo could have eclipsed him. He continue to maintain he is the better runner. On the other hand, the Igbo runner is saying; I'm the better runner, I was the better runner/a champion prior to this race; the gun-shot wound or "the war" if you leave out the analogy did slow me down but never could stop me! The best inteligient analysis. Simply the truth. Guy u're great |
