After reading through the report in the thread above and digesting the contents (including comments), some questions have been going through my mind.
Below is an extract from the report:



A very quick look through the list above shows that the projects are purely projects that benefit Nigeria as a whole, not any particular section of the country. I may be wrong on this assumption and would be glad if someone can prove me wrong.

If the all important 3050mw Mambilla Hydro Dam project in Taraba state is completed, it would single-handedly almost double Nigeria's power generation capacity and to the best of my understanding, the 3050mw produced will not be distributed only in the north (would be nice if someone can tell me I am wrong on this assumption).

Secondly, one begins to wonder whether the all important Calabar to Lagos Rail would not also be used by Nigerians of south eastern origins. This very rail connects the Calabar Seaport and the Onne Seaport in Port-Harcourt, and the last time I checked, the rail goes through the industrial city of Aba and connects Aba to the 2 most important Port cities in the south. Reading through the comments on that thread, I never knew Aba had been erased from the South-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria (I would be glad again if someone tells me my knowledge of geography is outdated).

Taking a look the other items on the list from the Eurobond to the Budget support, the Education/health/Agriculture support funds, I still wonder how it was concluded that these interventions funds would not be beneficial to the common man from the south-east.

In summary, could it just be that some divisive persons have chosen to deliberately distort information to deceive hordes of gullible persons and promote their political ideologies?

There is nothing wrong in asking the government to execute projects in that region. I'd rather the govt get the roads and other transport networks like railways working than bother with govt appointments. Lots of regions can't function without govt appointments. SE can function without that as long as there is fairness and equity in distribution of amenities.

Business men from the east have to come to Lagos to clear their goods then face the perilous adventure of moving them down with corrupt police, army and even the custom and excise men competing to empty their pockets.

Must everything be politics to you guys, why can't fed govt get the railways working like it's done in most part of the world to ease transport. These people contribute a lot to revenue.

"A country that is so rich with human potentials and natural resources, yet is poor, technologically and scientifically backward"? Momentarily, my first answer was corruption but I later discarded it when a more potent point suffices- United States, Canada, Germany, UK, etc are they not the same human beings like us? Why didn't they loot their country dry like us? I realize that there is a sense of nationhood in the later, while something is fundamentally wrong with the former (Nigeria). Then came Nnamdi Kanu's message. Permit me to borrow from St Paul of blesses memory: "His word (Kanu) is alive and active, sharper than any doubled-edge sword. It cuts all the way through, to where soul and spirit meet, to where joints and marrow come together. It judges the desires and thoughts of the hearts. There is nothing that can be hidden from it, everything under it is exposed and lies open before their eyes". Kanu's message started with the 1914 almagamation as the root cause of problem. In his expository message, he gave an unarguable facts why Nigeria is not a nation and cannot function as one. Second, any foreign citizens of United States must live under the United States value system irrespective of your race or religion. Third, United States is a mono religion country (Christain). These factors are not the same with Nigeria. The other factors two factors mentioned by Nnamdi Kanu are synomous. You cannot exclude region from culture, the complement each other. This theory can be supported with the Bokoharam insurgency since Bokoharam terrorism wouldn't have arisen if Nigeria was a muslim country. These three factors are the result of what the country is facing today whch has degenerated to trbalism, religion extremist, nepotism, favoritisim, corruption, lack of nation consciousness because nobody believes in the almagamation right from the start including the early leaders like Ahamadu Bello, Awalowo etc. As a result this has hindered the country's progress and development. Today, most Nigerian leaders see Nigeria as a private enterprise rather than a nation. Lugard's experiment which is now 56 years old has done more harm than good. As I celebrate Nnamdi Kanu's unflinching Ideology and resoluteness while in prison, may he live to see his dream come true. I salute your courage sir!

We earn all our forex from crude oil. Once the forex from crude oil is no longer there, other sectors won't get the required forex to import and expand/maintain their operations. And once these other sectors can no longer maintain their current operating level not to talk of expansion, the economy will not grow, hence, recession. The situation of the Naira is also as a result of the shortage of forex. The high $/N exchange rate is seriously pushing inflation to an extreme height which in effect had reduce the purchasing power of Nigerians. It had also reduce the growth capacity of other sectors that contributes to the GDP.

If only Jonathan had not squandered the huge foreign reserve and the excess crude savings he inherited, the current government would have gotten something to fall back to, investors ability to continue to invest won't be eroded, Naira won't be this bad and most importantly, we won't be in a recession today.

If jonathan had left about $100b and the price of crude oil keeps falling below $40/barrel for 4yrs or more, won't the country be in recession? You guys should start thinking out of the box.

Let us not be fooled. Buhari doesn't have what it takes to lead a complex economy like Nigeria. He would have done well as the EFCC chairman. The focal point of his campaign was corruption, Nigeria didnt look too hard that all Buhari's economic plans for Nigeria was handouts. All he was promising was food to little Children and 5k to the youths. That is a typical almajiri thinking as it is a culture in the north. There wasnt any talks about industries and innovations. No talks about human capital development. His major source of income to manage the economy was recovering loots to handle economic issues. It is like planning to pay you child's school fees with the money someone owes you which you aren't sure he will pay you. He has no idea of how a nation works or what to do and he leans on Kith and Kin for direction and not professionals. It is no coincidence that the economy always goes into hard and biting recession every time he ascends the throne. I also think that, he has a bit of bad luck. Everything that could possible go wrong has gone wrong under him. There is something about him that brings sadness, tension and lack all the time. Under Buhari people are never happy and free. They feel stifled. Honestly Buhari isn't a creative person and lacks the ability to bring out creativity in people or allow people to blossom in creativity.

The counter summary of your post is that restructuring will make the governors to sit up. The ripple effects of restructuring will be that the elected governors will venture into productive means of boosting the revenue and economy of their states since free allocation will no longer be forthcoming. The electorate will learn to elect credible and creative leaders since is no longer bussiness as usual. States will be forced to explore, exploit and consequently harness both their natural and human resources. Agitation will stop, pipeline bombing in a bid to pass a message to FG will stop. The potential of every region will manifest. The North will embark on aggressive agriculture production to boost their economy. The West the same coupled with education. The East, trade, science and technology invention will manifest. I fear for SS, they will be rich no doubt but their will be chaos, instability and bloodshed intially since most of their politician will vie for political post because of the free oil money. However, with time the peaceful and progressive development of their counterparts will make their govenors to sit up. Finally, restrusturing will bring about a healthy competition that will translate into massive socio- economic development in addition to strong democratic system.

I agree completely with you but Jonathan destroyed your minds and blackmailed you to submission. All the federal roads in Southeast are useless with exception of Owerri-Onitsha road shared by Imo and Anambra. No other road is good. Same with South-south. I will like Buhari to do Port Harcourt/Owerri and abandon the rest so that Ndigbo learn their lesson.
