alt3r3g0: I still dont understand the need for masked witness. There is a clear video of youtube of this guy asking for arms to fight Nigeria. What do they still need masquerades for?
Don't limit your knowledge to your field only. Research and learn before coming to public forum. You can't convict somebody by his mere words, you need concrete or physical evident to convict someone. His freedom of speech is enshrined in our consistution. That is why his prosecutors are not using that video to prosecute him
dyn1800: I bet you the prominent one among the agitators will not make it see the light of the day...... Get it bro
The way u ppl reason is amazing. So the prominent one decides who wins a credible election not the populace? You think the prominent ones don't secretly support their cause? It is just that the offices they are holding is restraining them from being vocal. It will be tantamount to treason.
Making promise base on oil price Mr president. You thought oil price will be selling far above our budget bench mark. Now, reality has dawned on you. If you had analyse the economic situation on ground you wouldn't made such promise cos USA has started flooding the market with oil before u made that promise. Well, i believe it was to score some cheap political goal. Neverthless, i applaud your decesion because is not feasible to pay #5000 stipends in the face of this economic downturn. Diversify the economy, bring out policies that will encourage local manufacturing that is the way foward. It may be a long term process, but it is certainly the best option.
Peezy: Thanks for the correction about shale. Actually the budget was a disappointment and i was pretty happy it was withdrawn. As i said earlier, I'm not a #Buharifanatic but someone who wants to see a better Nigeria. I really i'm of the belief that the only effective way to change this country is to change the mindset of people. Because we have been programmed (knowingly or unknowingly) to see public offices as a role to play God and to take as much funds as possible because we won't be there forever. And some also wants to be there forever. As funny as it seems, I could only come up with brain-washing every Nigerian to achieve that (just a thought that came at that point in time #thinking wild ). That would be wrong right? Yeah. So the truth is we have to make do with what and who we have been realistic. Good counsel is needed by the president, but don't let us relax and expect Buhari and all his ministers to correct everything. We have our roles, no matter how little it is to play. And yes we do need to invest heavily in agricultural and maufacturing industries. I'm waiting for the next budget too though, but we could do better by pushing our leaders thought to a better Nigeria as it was done with the previous budget. Integrating little you get big.
I agree with you, we need to change our mindset and encourage our leaders. However, a leader equally has the duty to change the mindset of his followers or the people he leads. How many times have you seen Buhari in any of our National TV talk to Nigerians, give them hope, show his econmic plans, inculcate hope and moral support in the face of this economic challenges? Instead you hear him making some divisive and derogatory remarks against the citizenry. Buhari simply lacks the tenacity. There is more to leadership than fighting corruption. What happens when Buhari anti corruption tenure elapses? Will corruption go? The key to corruption is strong insistution and law enforcement. When we attach immunity clause to office holders we are simply encouraging corruption. Another problem with our leaders is that they are basically unprepared. There is no hope in a situation where somebody will wake up and want to rule Nigeria without studying the challenges the country is facing both economically and otherwise. If you have read Audacity of hope by Obama you will appreciate how prepared obama was before becoming a president. For years Obama studied every sectors of United State economy; from manufacturing, science and technology to education. He even had a tour of all the major small and medium scale industries, learning their challenges and how the can improve. Consequently, when he entered into power United states economy experience an unprecedented growth and the shale oil exploitation started. There was more jobs than ever. I've been studying Buhari goverment with keen interest. There is no economic road map. His first budget gave rise to my fear. I completely lost hope when he started trotting round the globe thinking that the solution to our local problem is foreign solution. Imagine going to beg the Saudi king to reduce their oil ouput so that our economy will improve forgetting that USA will easily close the gap with their 12.2 million barrel a day not to talk of Iran. Besides, Saudi budget depends on their oil output just like us.
Peezy: Its amusing the comments one gets to read on nairaland. Gone through a couple of threads in the politics section and i see quite a number of people not wanting to look beyond their nose on the matter of the Nigerian economy. The present condition of Nigeria is similar to the way diseases take over the body. First, it gets into the host organism, it weakens the bodily defenses of the host before it causes the final breakdown of the host. This takes time but if not tackled at the right time the host dies. And applying a cure when the illness is far down the line does not manifest overnight. It gradually heals the host, right? Yeah, so relating this back to NIGERIA, the circumstances surrounding the fall of the naira and our economical turbulence is not something that started a decade ago. It has started way back and all we the majority of the people did was go about our businesses since it hasn't pushed us to the wall. Now, it has and all we do is blame Buhari. Why Because he his OUR president and seems to be the most reasonable person to take the blame at the moment. But, i would like you to see it this way; * Is it his fault that shale was discovered (discovery of shale started the downing of crude oil prices on the international market)? * Is it his fault that Nigeria has no major export apart from crude oil? * Is it his fault that NIGERIA lacks investments in manufacturing, agriculture, infrastructures and our skillful expertise is low? Nooo!!! So i wonder why when i turn to every corner all i see is people blaming Buhari for any mishaps. Sure he banned imports, but until we see the good motives behind harsh decisions, we would not understand what good those decisions would bear for our future as a nation. Think of the possibility of manufacturing those imported goods locally, imagine the reduction in market prices, revenue generated, youths employed, e.t.c. Lets begin to think of things panning out on the long run and stop being short-sighted. That's what countries (U.S.A, U.K, china) we are trying to emulate do and what is our fate if we keep being short-sighted? No doubt he is doing somethings (a lot) quite slow, but really would you blame him if you were in his shoes knowing that getting something wrong could get you crucified by the people who you are trying to lead right. Seriously!!! I think we should cut him some slack and criticisms directed at him should be constructive in every manner, take actions to help the economy (get Nigerian made and the really "big men" could go into manufacturing, e.t.c.). Truth is the Nigerian economy is passing through this as a result of we realising the position in which we stand ( that our economy is very vulnerable despite the "largest economy" talks). And i think this is good because we could tackle it now, other than ignore it which would ultimately collapse or economy. "Ëverything will usually get worse before it gets better ..."is a truth known to us all and we passing through our worse now simply means our better days are closer than it would have been if our worse days were to hit us latter. So we want a better Nigeria? Support the growing of the naira and in turn the economy and do whatever in your capacity to make the economy better because the little efforts you and i make would on the whole translate to a big step. P.S: I rep a better naija and not political parties or individuals.
Shale oil was discovered more than 50yrs ago. It's exploitation is what started within a decade. My problem with Buhari goverment is the breakdown of our budget. Is there any common sense when the money allotted to information ministry is far more than the one allotted to Agric and science and technology when our economy is ailing? Do you know the amount of money USA invested in shale technology for shale oil to be exploited? With our budget breakdown our economy is in a long way to be revived. Buhari goverment is waiting for oil price to appreciate which might take more than 20yrs base on my analysis. My final opinion is that Nigeria leaders lack creativity expecially this goverment. GEJ goverment tried with his Agricultural revolution but Buhari goverment needs much to be desired. Looking at his goverment and the budget, regression analysis will give you an insight where the country is heading to.
akajos4real: Think through this action before you start it. Again, all those spoiling for war should not run away when it starts. This is a country and there are rules and a constitution. Anybody that has gone against the constitution that feel hard done should go to court and follow the process. We should not allow a few persons that do not have any investment plunge peoples lives and businesses into something else.
The same court that your president flouts their orders? You think you have a consistution and law? Funny
simplycarro: Nope, the government will not succumb to blackmail and getting hold to ransome. If you want to destroy the SE because of one miscreant, good luck .
You call him a miscreant but you want to try him with masquerades as witness. Funny country.
Alikote: Comparing gsk and juel is really funny are u for real gsk that do invention and hold several world reknow drug patent ,gsk is as rich as nigerian govt that u comparing with juel.igbos only hold patents for criminality and production of fake spare part fake drugs baby factories robbery and kidnapping and drug bussiness .we dont need this to salvage the ecomony...we need agriculture and mechanised farming and industries that produces real items ...not ibo.made
sunnymaja: You these evil defender will eventually destroy Nigeria. Is it right for Tompolo for ignore court order? What other due process do you want than court order to arrest a fleeing criminal. If he is right, why was he on the run after all others honour the invitation including Akpobolokemi that was charged with him. Bunch of evil
But it is right for Buhari and his DSS cohorts to ignore court orders? Bunch of hypocrisy
This one is it training? Only one bullet will send them to their grave. What we need is sophisticated modern tech millitary equipment training not this jamborees.
adeyemik: To people like you the points are baseless because it is not your good brother was killed. Go to the families of those killed, they will be asking so many questions with no one to answer them.
Give me an example of a non public place that they gathered and the police shot at them.
So unarmed protesters should be killed? You guys are just too babaric. Get out from sight. Savages everywhere
adeyemik: My friend, you may be a Biafra agitator but not well schooled in Biafra history. Do your research very well.
Biafra started not from the collective and conscious decision of all the easterners but from the selfish desire of few people who deceived and forced others to join them.
Now lets look at the two leaders led their people through war and violent agitation paths -
Ojukwu, started the self determination agitation in a wrong footing and millions of innocent people died in a war that should have been avoided. The igbos were the greater loser at the end.
Kanu, this young man with great ideas but wrongly channeled. He started on a wrong footing, threatening to destroy and annihilate the country (sorry the zoo as he calls it) and her people.
Who are the people being killed now?
You claimed these people didn't do anything wrong, they were protesting in an enclosed compound, isn't it? Yes you're right, they all gathered within a fenced compound, but the compound is a public school and the school was in session. So that alone is wrong.
Bros, if people are deceiving me, I won't deceive myself. When Afenifere group threatening to cede from Nigeria, the Yorubas asked questions, and made them realized that they are not speaking for the Yorubas but for their pockets. Where is the Afenifere now, it has gone into oblivion because they put self before others.
The igbos can achieved their self determination desire but must be done within the ambit of the prevailing laws, internationally recognized and accepted way, and collectively people driven. IPOB, leaders should read how Gandhi galvanized the Indians to achieve independence thrown a non violence mean.
Finally, Nigerian security agencies need to be schooled on how to break up a protest without lose of lives and properties. Unarmed protesters should not be shot at with live bullets, rubber bullets should have been used.
You call yourself igbo but don't knw anything about Biafra. Shut up and bury your head in shame. Did Ojukwu suddenly declare Biafra? What prompted him was it not the killings of thousand ofEasterners after the second coup? Easterners where being masscare in thousands in their own country.
adeyemik: It is a shame to shoot at unarmed and defenseless people with live bullets. There are other humane ways to negotiate and disperse peaceful and unarmed protesters without sniffing life out of any person. RIP to those killed.
However, it is important for protesters and their leaders to apply wisdom when protesting. When the protesters saw the first two police guys walking into the school, it should have send a message to them that they need to disperse and reconvene another time to avoid confrontation.
Secondly, a senior police officer was seen in the video talking to one the protesting leaders. He was probably telling him to tell his co-protesters to disperse and leave the school premises, but the officer's plead was probably ignored. The bible says that when King Herod, sought to kill Jesus, God to Joseph and Mary to go with baby Jesus to Egypt. Not that God could not sniff life out of Herod for seeking to kill the Messiah, God told them to go, so that what has been written could be established. Same goes for Elijah, when Jezeebel sought to kill him, God to him to flee. Not that Elijah could not call down fire from heaven to consume Jezeebel, but God has a purpose for telling him to do that. Those pray and praising God should have apply God's wisdom and the lose of human lives would have been avoided.
You can only ignore such plead in Europe and the U.S., not in Nigeria. Ignore at your own peril. The
Thirdly, the protesters choice of location was wrong. Carrying out a protest in a public school while students were there and classes were in session was a bad choice. Didn't they realised that they were putting the lives of the students at risk for choosing to protest within the school premises.
Fourthly, there are more constructive and civilised ways to agitate for self determination that are potent, less expensive, people involving and internationally accepted. The IPOB leadership need to explore these alternatives and stop calling out people to protest on the streets, highways and other public places. The Scottish sought for independence from Britain without the lose of a single soul. IPOB should take a clue from that.
Lastly, has any country in Africa (South Sudan and Eritrea) country that sought for and got her right for self determination fared better or worse? My igbo brothers need to answer this question objectively before joining the protesters train. South Sudan with all the huge oil deposits the country for got from Sudan, the country is still in crisis - leadership wahala, lack of development and war. It is important to ask for the cost before you buy it.
Don't allow selfish politicians to use you for their political ambitions.
All your points are baseless. If the have convened in a neutral place, will the army not shoot them? Have the not being shot while having a peaceful protest?
prettyboi1: I give up talking to you cos you're small-minded. Smh. The boldened word in your reply I quoted above is evidence of what I'm saying. "Their"... Are you not part of the same people you're pulling down to seem as if you know Jack, when in fact you clearly don't know anything? Stop bringing Britain and Scotland into this whole talk if you don't have better things to say. A man (Nnamdi Kanu) was clearly seen in a video calling for arms to fight Nigeria and you're here talking trash as if the government should sit down and path him on his back saying " well-done ". On top of that small-minded thinking of yours, you had the audacity to bring in Scotland and Britain into the issue. If you were smart, it would have occurred to you that no Scottish terrorist was asking for arms to fight Britain. Also, as close minded as you are, you're now forming victim for Nnamdi Kanu as if he is innocent of the charges brought against him. If somebody decided on his own to fight what is bigger than him (In this case, Nnamdi Kanu asking for weapons to fight Nigeria) and he eventually gets beaten up,there's no wrong in that....you're simply just getting what you asked for. The people Nnamdi Kanu and his group of terrorists would have killed are not human beings abi? Yet, you have the effontery to come here and use " their" describing people from the same race as you in your short-sightedness when you don't even realize you're exactly as guilty as the people you're claiming to be holier than and know more than. I'm done even replying you. After this,if you reply,I would just read and pass cos obviously you who's better than "their" is a big fan of a potential terrorist yet you're claiming 'holier than thou' describing the same set of people you're no better than as 'their'. SMH.
My friend you're just pathetic. Calling NK and his group terroist when the have not commited any crime is the height of wickedness when we all witenessed the waton kiling of unarmed protesters on a daily basis. You said FG has a case against him, let see how the events unfolds. It will suprise you. Pls don't ever quote me again.
prettyboi1: Have you not just done the same damn thing you claim Africans are guilty of, 'Mr holier-than-thou?' Are you not an African? Are you not a Nigerian?......Have you not just shown your 'pathetic mindset'? Have you not just killed the image of other Africans like yourself, thinking that you have solved a problem or made sense? SMH.
Folks like you always think you know crap, but all you do is bring other people down to seem elevated or to give yourself this false self-confidence that you're wise. Lol. Claiming other people do something and in the same breath....doing the same thing. SMH.
As per the bolded, you don't learn, get it right by concealing or paying lips servce to your inability. You think am denigrating the image of Africa when the world already knw their babaric nature which is even more evidenced by the killing of unarmed protesters. In your little mind anybody that supports self determination should be killed. In that case Britain would have killed there folks instead of dialogue. This is a typical difference between a civilized man and a savage. The former will always resort to civilized way of solving a problem while the later is always known for his babaric nature on a dealing a problem. I don't blame the westerners: ' give them gun the will shoot themselves'. That is why the refuse selling weapons to you. You're like an untame savage to them. Everything about you lots is babaric including your speeches here.
prettyboi1: Well, what do you expect,'oga non-Nigerian'. "I PLEDGE TO NIGERIA,MY COUNTRY, to be faithful, loyal and honest, to DEFEND her UNITY........with ALL my strength. So help me ,God."
Calling for secession is treason however you look at it. You think Nigeria is your personal property that you can just decide when to share it anytime you like?
You're just too funny. When did self determination become treason? Nigerians with their pathetic mindset. Britain would have consider scotland act as treasonable offence. Well, African can never evolve from their dark age of reasoning. No matter the contemporary civilization in the world, we are still backward. That is why we can't progress. The whites look at us with amusement. The only viable way we can ever think of solving our problems is by killing one another. If we equate self determination as treason then we are in bondage.
prettyboi1: I really appreciate diplomacy, but when one has to be hard, one has to be hard. You just replied the guy you quoted telling him how Nnamdi Kanu is somebody's son, husband and father but did you ask yourself what Kanu was thinking when he was in those videos asking for "bullets and ammunition"? The people the terrorist ( Kanu) wants to kill with the " bullets and ammunition " are not other people's sons, husbands and fathers? This idiot called Kanu should face whatever comes to him. Shebi he wanted to fight Nigeria? He also was asking for sponsors to provide arms for him and his group of friends so that he can fight Nigeria, right? Now, you people are getting all emotional as if the government just picked up one innocent man from the road and accused him falsely. I wonder how some of us think things through. The federal government should make sure that this terrorist is dealt with fairly and according to the rule of law.
But you have someone that threatened the country with his dog and baboon statement and made his good his threat through his followers bt nw he is the president. Fyi, even if Kanu didn't call for arms, so far he is advocating for secession you people will still want him dead. Nigerians and there mental hypocrisy.
emperorgoke: do you know what we called Gombe sandstone? Which is the reservoir rock, exactly what's absent in Chad Basin of Nigeria. There will be oil if only Gombe sandstone can be found bro... Hmmmmmmm how I wish I could elaborate on this
Sandstone is sandstone, wether Gombe or not. The are all permeable sedimentary rock. If u can understand why oil is in Izumbe bt is not in Irete bt the are within the same formation, you will understand what am talking abt. The key are primary migration and oil resrvoir trap
emperorgoke: are u a Geologist? Man! Stop wasting ur time, Prof Zarbosky is a political Geologist........ The sedimentary formation of Chad Basin is not suffices for the formation of oil
But history and science have proven that oil is not encountered in the source rock but from oil reservoir trap after primary migration.
lawydewy: If he knows the geology of the northern Nigeria, he will not say such of a thing. There are crude oil basin in the northern Nigeria, only that cost of exploration due to thickness of the formation.
People like professor Zarbosky have done alot of research on northern Nigeria sedimentary basin......
The geology of the chad basin maybe indicative of oil trap through seismic survey bt only by drilling an exploratory well will determine if the traps are productive. So far more than 70 wildcat wells have been drilled and the results are unproductive oil traps.
freefrank13: Pls who else got a text from oceanwater marin and oil services ,i got a text from them this evening inviting me for an interview no 1 worlu street d/line ph,have google them and their web site looks premature,i applied last night and got the invitation today. Please I want to if its for real.
It is a nice firm. Logistic, procurement, services and enviroment with lots of travel and exposure. Go try your best. Wouldn't mind if you pass the link.
mynameissleek: You are silly for supporting a wrong thing!! Is silly an insult?? Your name says truth is God but u see truth and shy away from it... Who says he cannot post?? But acknowledge the rightful owners not to be receiving praises here as if the work is yours... And this is not the first time he has done it to the author of the article and others, yet he is unrepentant... He is lucky this is cyber space otherwise he would be at the police stations you suggested cooking his heel.
Cooling his heel. Do i look like someone that will join issues with u with unnecessary tantrums? Plagiarising? You may have even copied to pass your exams. Go find your level.
mynameissleek: You are very stupid!!!! You do not post another person ' work and claim as yours.. It is against the law.... If you do not knw.. He can post it but he should give credit to the original writer...
It is people like you who support the wrong thing that makes that Dullard call Nigerians criminals... WRONG is wrong and right is right!!
That is y you lots can never be civilized. Y silly? Did i insult u? FYI, i learn from the content of a book nt the author. If the guy has commited an offence, it is between him and the law not me. You can as well go and report him to the nearest police station and stop deriding the thread with your repeated posts!
mynameissleek: You commot your has for stolen work? Saviola Godwyn plagiarised this work.. He is not the writer after he apologised to the original Owner on Facebook where he stole it from he deleted it on his wall there only for him to come and post it here
And so what? We are more after the content not realy abt the author. Look into the content and stop flooding every space with your repeated post!
If GEJ had arrested him, wouldn't one section of the country be killing people. You might as well have being dead by nw. You ppl don't knw the complexity of this country.
That is why the country can never move foward. You ppl like stiffling the truth. In a sane country, Buhari would ve being charge to court for making such reckless statement. Bt here, some ppl are above the law cos of their followers.
Lezzlie: And who told you someone can't be jailed for a crime he planned but didn't commit?
If i don't win election, baboons and monkeys (Nigerians) will be soaked with blood. If they don't give us Biafra, Somalia will look like paradise... Pls without being biased can you spot any differnce. But the later is being persecuted.
onatisi: I wont be drawn into an argument about buhari as ppl here will view it as a continuation of my anti buhari stand but there is a wide difference between both cases
My friend park well!!! Crime is crime there is no difference. Capital offence is capita offence. He has nt commited an iota of what Buhari did. Has he killed anyone yet? Even his followers whom u ppl accused of being violent, have they killed anyone? Instead they are being killed on a daily bases. When Buhari lost 2011 elction, what did his followers do? They killed hundreds of ppl by his instigation. Did he ever condemn the killings? What of the baboon and monkey threat? Was it not a threat that can undermine our national security? Was he persecuted on all these cases? Even the ungovernable statement made by one prominent Northeners. Were they persecuted? Stop speaking with both sides of ur cheeks
JayJohnson: I pity your life! somebody stole and looted our commonwealth, here you are asking for court orders as if EFCC does not have the right to do all these! Shame on you!!!
Which evidence 4 now do u have to support ur assertion? Jst becos his properties were sealed, he is a looter. Is Ihejerika the only ex chief of army staff that has properties during our 16yrs of democracy? Can EFFC have the guts to confiscate Obj, IBB and Atiku's properties whom we knw are monumental lotters? What happened to the Halliburton scandal? When PMB begins to arrest those lotters, i'll knw he is unbiased on his anti corruption fight. For now, it is all HOGWASH!!!
