A staff of Boluwaduro Local Government, (name withheld) was allegedly arrested by security operatives at the council on Monday while in possession of government properties.

A statement by the media assistant to the Executive Chairman, Boluwaduro Local Government, Sahedd Omokanye, stated that the staff was arrested following reports that she was allegedly attempting to smuggle government items and official documents out of the secretariat through the perimeter fence.

The statement said security personnel, acting on suspicion, intercepted her and recovered the items in her possession.

“She has since been taken to a police station for further interrogation and investigation,” the statement noted.

OSUN DEFENDER reports that local government workers resumed work after an 11-month stay at home following the crisis that rocked the council after an Appeal court judgement in February 2025.

Ngozi Odu, the deputy governor of Rivers state, has registered as a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, becoming the latest senior official in the state to defect from the opposition.

Odu registered as an APC member at her polling unit in Akabuka, a town in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni area, party officials said.

After completing the registration, she joined supporters in singing “On Your Mandate We Shall Stand,” a song closely linked to President Bola Tinubu and the party’s campaign messaging.

Her move follows the recent defection of Rivers governor Siminalayi Fubara, who joined the APC after meeting Tinubu at the presidential villa in Abuja. The decision shifted the balance of power in the oil-producing state.

Tony Okocha, the APC chairman in Rivers state, registered Fubara as a party member on the instruction of the party’s national secretariat.

At the national level, APC chairman Nentawe Yilwatda later named Fubara the party’s leader in Rivers state, consolidating the party’s control of its structure in the state.

Fubara is not a politician, Tinubu understands better, they will let him go for primary , national TVs will telecast to show it’s free and fair contest and Fubara will loose just like Ambode, Asiwaju knows Wike can deliver rivers easily to him in 2027, that’s why the LG election was conducted while Fubara was absence., Wike owns all the delegates , that’s if Fubara is not impeached before 2027
