He further simplified it into two, love the Lord your God with all your heart and love your neighbours as thyself. No where was tithe mentioned in the commandment. Furthermore, I just told the etymology of tithing as a mosaic law to put food on the table of the priest.

But after the people had worshiped false gods they were punished and they turned against their God and anything that has to do with Him yet they want to continue living on the land He acquired for them so they stopped paying their tithes which led the Levites out of the temple in search for what they will eat with their own families! Nehemiah 13:10

So the worship of the true God was left unattended to as Levites who supposed to officiate in the temple had to go looking for what they will eat that's why God sent Malachi to call the Israelites {Malachi 3:10-12} to order because they are robbing Him of His right as He bargained with their ancestors that He will give them the land if they continue to do all what He commanded them! Exodus 19:5

But by the time Jesus commissioned the new form of worship (Christianity) the works assigned to Levites was no longer required and there is no need for animal sacrifices or a geographical locations for pure worship where everyone must come {John 4:22-24} yet Pharisees kept demanding tithes from the people who were carrying a heavy burden from the pagan nations ruling over them that's been taxing them but as for what God warned the Israelites against regarding those who are to be exempted from the payment of tithe i.e widows, orphans and stranded travelers {Deuteronomy 10:18; 14:29} so Jesus cursed these cruel religious leaders for demanding tithes yet neglecting the main reason why God instituted the tithe! Matthew 23:23

In the Bible book of Acts the Christians did not practice tithing among because Jesus never mentioned it as part of what they should practice but Jews who later embraced Christianity were still going to pay tithe in the temple secretly thinking Malachi's message is for them that's why apostle Paul called them to order telling them that tithing is no longer required in Christianity! Hebrews 7:5-12

Thanks for elaborating, does that mean the pastor's know this truth about tithe but demanding it is just a bad habit that can't be stopped?

My mother attends living faith and I remember when I was younger.... The tithing announcement goes thus: TITHING IS A CONVENANT REQUIREMENT FOR FINANCIAL REST AND BREAKTHROUGH, EVERY TRUE WINNER IS A TITHER. does it mean the pastor's knows tithing is not Christianly and it's just a means of extortion? Or they read a different bible from ours.

I really don't understand this question. But in salary structure, we have basic and allowances. Your basic might be 150 and allowances added might skyrocket to 240+.

Cigarette allowance , uniform allowance etc.

I am a Christian and I attend apostolic Faith church. Much emphasis is not laid on tithe and offering in my church and as a fact, we don't pass baskets around for it. Just a box at the back where you can drop what you want without anyone seeing or noticing you. Most church projects, we call meetings of saints and after the project is discussed, God always sort it for us himself.


2 weeks ago, a friend invited me to redeem, I didn't want to go as the Apostolic Faith doctrine is fully embedded in me..... Note we don't do any preaching except salvation so I know all this prosperity teaching will seem not coherent to me, as in my church we belief in seeking first the kingdom of God and every other things been added. and this always work. And also, have helped us against mental slavery of new generational men of God.


Now I got to redeem and their Sunday school topic was tithing or so.... It was discussed with different questions about how to pay etc. Then the pastor shared a testimony of how Pastor Adeboye returned the tithe of a man who asked for accountability. This didn't seat well with me as a I believe tithing isn't even in the new commandment. I raised my hands and tried telling pastor the etymology of tithing.

TITHING IS A MOSAIC LAW. because BEFORE JESUS CAME IN THE NEW TESTAMENT, ONLY PRIEST FAMILY HAD THE CHANCE OF COMMUNION WITH GOD. as a fact only the chief priests can enter into the holiest of Holies and is leg have to be chained to know if he's still breathing. This requires all their time and life So for the priestly family to also have food Moses told the isrealites to always bring 10 percent of their proceeds to the temple. I told him Jesus came and is death shook up the veil and tore it which gives us direct access to God, alas we don't need priest anymore. I also told him priest this days now work so what's the need for tithe. I called his attention to the fact Jesus never spoke about tithe or asked us to. As a fact tithe is not mentioned in the new testament. Just giving which isn't measured in 10percent. And Jesus didn't ask us to even give to pastor's. WHATSOEVER YOU DO TO YOUR BROTHERS YOU DO UNTO ME HE SAID.... not to your pastors. I said alot with fact Matt 25:25 and I also told him if tithing is still legit which is a mosaic law, why can't churches still embrace the other mosaic law like an eye for an eye or rituals and all.... Do we select the laws?


Pastor seem confused and had to technically seat me down. Even my friend was abit taking aback. Pastor couldn't give me fact, just emotional blackmail of how is child Fell sick when he doesn't pay tithe...... Funny enough the man said someone brought garri to church the previous week and that's what he eats at home now.... The man as a car and if not my friends and mine, not another car will be parked in the church. Most folks there are petty traders and farmer that are gullible in he name of Lord take me to my next level of riches.


Christianlanders, I'm not trying to stir up controversies, I will appreciate if anyone can tell me about tithing and what Jesus said about it. Please don't argue with emotions, state your facts.

Every state with their payment scheme. I was gisting with a childhood friend yesterday who got a job with Lasg hospital management board. SNO, her salary is better than most other states I know. So also is The discrepancy in other sector. As for me saying El-rufai paid 65 when minimum wage was 33, if the current governor calculate the current minimum wage to the value of the 65 then, I doubt they won't be going home with over 100. don't forget this is just their basic with lots of incentives still attached. Most of them are even degree holders as it's a poly and I doubt they will go pass level 6 on conhess salary structure.


At the end, I'm not El-rufai follower or APC follower, I'm just voicing my thoughts.

During is 8yrs, minimum wage wasn't 77k. Take everything away from El-rufai but not the place of admin. I think during corona or so, he still paid all junior workers and intermediate. He slashed salary of very senior workers to substantiate for the palliative. I'm not an APC supporter, neither am I an El-rufai follower, but when it comes to governance El-rufai isn't one of your regular Joe's.

My uncle's house was affected when he was FCT minister and demolition properties for new face of FCT, today Wike is galivating around on El-rufais accomplishment as FCT minister. Should we talk of the bridges, kasua round to go or even the road from 44 to tudun wada he perfected. Check before and after he left KD as governor. El Rufai as is bad side (religious bigotry) but pay him accolade when due.


As much as I fayose is the architect of modern Ekiti, El-rufai is the architect and structural of Modern Kaduna and FCT
