SayginSA: South Africa is one superpower,no african will want to mess with us. And Tanzanians knows better. We give financial aid to almost every state in Southern Africa and some in East Africa. We are mighty smart african race, with time we will be supreme. Super power? Are you freaking kidding me? Try it with Kenya and see what happens. That is just Kenya. I am not even talking about Nigeria and the north African Arabs. Nigreria also provide technical aid to many west African countries from time immemorial. We recently gave financial aid to three African countries. https://www.africanews.com/amp/2019/05/17/nigeria-donates-1m-medical-supplies-to-cyclone-hit-mozambique-malawi/It doesn't mean we should overreach. |

jacksonkennedy: I look at igbos determination to chart their own course even tho they are landlocked and not having a big city like lagos and i ask myself what is wrong with us yorubas? Why is there no serious independence agitation in our land? We are better positioned than these people to own a VERY progressive country. Is it because of oil? Wat will oil be in a few years with global warming getting more serious? Are we afraid to go to war? With who? If the east, west and south are agitating for independence at the same time, its a walk over. The north cant stop us. Are we afraid to go it alone? Why? The state of the nation has gotten critical enough that its time for the yoruba nation to abandon it. I cant even come back for xmas with all the insecurity in the land now...my God. Lagos is not a big city in the sense of it. It is the smallest state in Nigeria. Everything it has today is attached to Nigeria since the time of the brits when they used it to export Nigeria's raw materials to Europe. Today, We use it to export oil products while we use it to import goods for Nigeria's large population. And any other thing is a consequence of that economic relationship. Once Nigeria splits, Lagos would become a little better than Ogun state. It is certainly not going be exporting that scale of oil or housing the head quarter of many multinationals whose real activities are not in Yoruba Land. Nobody would allow that anymore. Many other non Yoruba owned industries would relocate to their ethnic homelands as there is no more Nigerian cover and population has dissipated. Import business and revenues would reduce by over 1000‰ as the population it is serving is a Yoruba only population as regards to the rest of Nigeria it currently does. The importers who are mostly Igbos would be looking to divest closer home tothe Niger Delta waters. It would economically shrink in hundreds of folds and become a port novo or Lome. I have no problem with you wanting secession. It is.your right. But know the real state of things and don't think Lagos would remain the way it is if that is your hope. |

Politics › Re: Buhari: Why We Closed Nigeria’s Border With Benin Republic by TSRC: 8:34pm On Aug 28, 2019 |
grandstar: The country has never been self sufficient in rice production. Over a million tons of rice is smuggled from Benin Republic into the country yearly.
Why this quest to become self reliant in rice production? Nigeria has never had a problem with rice production. The problem it has is the ability to produce it at a competitive price as the country lacks comparative advantage in it.
Let's take a deep look at it. A Beninoise boy told me a bag of rice in Benin is 12,000 when it's 18,000 here.
For the government to compel Nigerians to produce rice, it puts up a protectionist wall that makes the imported rice cost as much as 18,000 or more. Now that the imported version is dearer than the local version, local demand for locally made rice increases and that encourages production.
My argument is that how can paying 18,000 for rice that is 12,000 help the poor? What's the point in being self sufficient in expensive rice help the indigent? Don't forget that the people farming are not necessarily the rich. Besides, Nigeria can produce rice to the point where price would drop. But the price has to be competitive first to attract significant players before it drops due to excess production. It is just like petrol. |

Iblad0994: I am from the SW, I am excluding Lagos for the sake of the IGR coz I know the Igbos might say Lagos IGR is too much and it dwarfs their states 8 folds. Lets play on level ground even with 1 handicap, the SW beats the SE in total IGR even excluding Lagos.
Based on the NBS data, Ogun state IGR is more than all the SE states IGR combined.
Infact, the SE owes the most foreign debt looking at the data and they always lie that the SE region has the lowest debt based on the misinformation flying around. lol Why would you exclude it when it suits you.? What else is in the west if not Lagos? The same Lagos that you people carry for head like gala. My friend, jump inside lagoon with your yeye thread. |

Why would you exclude Lagos? When you are talking about how Igbo come to the south West, you don't remember to exclude Lagos. When discussing eligible voters, you don't remember to exclude Lagos. When discussing IGR for your own bigoted ends, you also don't remember to exclude Lagos.

Sellfish: Stone Buhari in Japan and have many Pythons dance on your relatives in Eastern Nigeria
Not forgetting that it has been a while since restive Nothern Youths have killed Ibos on a large scale...and they are waiting for an excuse, no matter how lame, to butcher Ibos in Northern Nigeria....Remember they have not forgiven you guys for not voting Buhari
To whom head is given, sense is expected....
You may behave as you like in Diaspora and get away with it...but is all that misbehaviour worth the lives of your relatives in Nigeria?
Every action has a repercussion.....Ibos can wake their own fathers with a bicycle kick just like they did to Ekweremadu.that one is a problem they can settle among themselves in their Umunna village meeting...
But they should not be silly enough to export their their disrespect to Buhari...Northerners value their elders and can bring down hell for them
A word is enough for the .... You are very lucky we are on nairaland. You are very lucky indeed. I would have punched the daylight out of you. Amala munching troglodyte. If they don't do it, go and do it yourself. If abokii use your people for practice in Lagos as is common, igbos are a different breed. The last time they threatened heaven and earth, it came to nought. |

Arewa1408: All this insults will not help. It is asking the right questions. Buhari should be asked if he is aware that this guy stole money and all these allegations If true, then it will be another nail in his coffin like the raising of Ganduje's hands in Kano. However, you dont have to believe everything without investigations. Timipre Silva looted bayelsa state. PDP seized his 40 houses. Buhari came in and gave it to him and then appointed the thief as an oil minister. If buhari is not aware, then it is even worse. |
