Rubbish. This is what other Nigerians see but SEners including their elites cannot see, imagining Peter Obi the yes daddy crooner saying Coastal road is a wasteful and misplaced priority |

Brendaniel: Are all countries in the world under recession ?
Are all countries in the world still suffering from the 2 years lock down?
So because someone told you recession will happen every decade , so you will sit down and let the recession hit you without avoiding it?
Elon Musk just spoke the truth, that's why I laugh each time Tinubu supporters try to blame the citizens for inflation.... Let's be honest inflation is partly caused by the government on one part and by the citizens on the other part. One of the shortcomings of ICT Is how it enhances the acquisition of intangible wealth without productive backup. Elon Musk is probably diverting gullible Nigerian attention away from this simple truth |

kaludestiny10: It may interest you to know that the bridge serves as a gateway between the North and the South East and South South. Buhari took it upon himself to finish that bridge due to the economic importance it served to Nigerians most especially his people. Look do you know the number of trailers that ply Mile 2 Badagry express road. On a good day over 400 trailers with heavy loads ply that road. Today that road is a ghost of itseft until FG now embark on rehabilitation of some section while the state government is doing large chunk of the road. This is route to a border where custom generate it's largest revenue. Look if Nigerians ignore SE rant it just based on tolerance and neighbourhood but SE shouldn't overstep its boundary |

Neatb: You should be asking, what is the initial design load of the 1st Niger bridge? Don't come here and start comparing two different bridge designs. Have you ever traveled on the 1st Niger Bridge when there's heavy traffic? Have you ever felt the vibration on the bridge structure when these loads are applied? Are you also aware that an integrity test was carried out on the structure (1st Niger bridge) before the second Niger bridge was suggested? Don't allow hate or tribalism to becloud your sense of reasoning @Tellmeastory Show us the integrity test that didn't factor rehabilitation and upgrading into account. The only integrity test we see is blackmailing coming out from SE and the cry of marginalization. 3rd mainland bridge experiences more traffic and it's more fragile than 1 Niger Bridge but Lagosians do not blackmail the FG for another bridge but decided to look inward and the state government now proposes to build its 4th mainland bridge just like the state built its port when the the the the the pressure on the existing port controlled by the FG became unbearable. The SE conveniently shifted the responsibility of the state government to the FG but would cry foul when the FG extended the same gesture to other regions. One of the major ways FG should compensate the SS is to build this well-deserved coastal road and any SE that complains should be seen as selfish and wicked. In the 8th Assembly SE legislators were the arrowhead that killed the Bill to give Lagos State special status today SEDC Act exists when a president from the same Lagos state is in power. SE should know that other Southerners are conscious of its selfish and parochial politics born out of hatred and jealousy. Building coastal road will not affect the development of SE in anyway and any attempt to run down the project is just a manifestation of inherent hatred and jealousy known to SE |

Look if the federal roads are in good shape do you know it will force alot of people to reduce cost of transportation and also reduce inflation. Like I'm trying point something that is very obvious but it seems you don't care All FG road cannot be good at the same time as road are infrastructure that wears out as a result of use. That doesn't stop FG or and other government from embarking on new road. Just as maintaining infrastructure would boost economic activities so also creating new roads in strategic location would equally do. It is sheer hypocrisy to state government should abandon creation of new roads for maintenance when the two can go simultaneously |

If you were informed you wouldn't even question the importance of that second bridge and I am not here to read them out to you. Funkyswagzz: Goodluck started the project point of correction. I doubt if you've seen the kind of congestion that is experienced along that bridge besides that it's a 1.6km project. So lemme ask you a simple question, you have a road that is already exists, is it better to build a coastal highway and abandon the existing one?
And secondly, are you saying the present economy of this country can be compared to the previous administration First I must assume I am discussing with a sane mind and not obidient who has lost their mental capacity to emotion and tribalism. Who initiated or started is not the bone of contention here but the amount of investment made into the project at the time Nigeria was in recession and was borrowing heavily. Why would you justify the construction of a brand new bridge when the existing one could have been dualised to save cost at a time of recession and heaving borrowing but against the creation of a coastal road that would link 8 states? If you claim the government should first rehabilitate all FG roads before embarking on such a project then why didn't you ask FG to first complete all FG in SE before embarking on the 2nd Niger Bridge? |

analogfolks: Hey experts, I am trying to invest in nigeria stock market, I have read some information on this repuated blog space. But I am stuck with how do I proceesd.
I’m interested in investing in the Nigerian stock market and have been doing my research, including going through some reputable forums like Nairaland. However, I’m a bit stuck and could use some guidance. Could anyone here help clarify:
What’s the best way to get started as a beginner in the Nigerian stock market? Which brokerage platforms are reliable and beginner-friendly? What are the key factors I should consider before choosing specific stocks or sectors in Nigeria? Are there any legal or tax implications I need to be aware of as a new investor in Nigeria?
Thanks in advance! While the idea sounds okay, it is an obsolete idea in the changing world. I had a similar idea back then as a young graduate but later discovered that holding stock is a long-term investment for someone who has extra to keep for future investment. When you go deeper and understand the round-tripping going on in the stock market in Nigeria, you may want to rethink. There was obscene manipulation and ovepricing of stocks when the likes of Obi were Chairman and today those investments have been wiped away. You may consider educating yourself in technical and fundamental analysis and focus your investment on portfolios that are securely regulated with high liquidity such as FX |

Funkyswagzz: Dude if you are trying to use the coastal high way to justify the second Niger bridge the you have to think again. The reason people are complaining is because amid hardship the president is rushing to build a coastal highway while the federal roads leading to those regions is in bad shape. If the president had first of all repair those roads before building the coastal highway I don't think anybody would complain. You don't count B before A. Was all Federal roads in the SE repaired before government built the second Niger bridge? The bridge that was built during recession |

LOVEALAIGBO: I take it you’re Yoruba!? Did your lot protest when the same federal gov’t built 3rd mainland bridge in the Lagos you claim belongs to you….even as there were other bridges already in use!?
Oh…so all this is about the fraudulent coastal road Tinubu is using to further enrich himself and his business associates! How come the only persons questioning the fraud that you noticed are the Igbo ones!?
That coastal bridge is a luxury the country can ill-afford at the moment, especially when there are already existing roads in dire need of rehabilitation! You can’t draw a parallel with the 2nd Niger bridge because the existing one isn’t sufficient for the traffic that needs to use it! The issue of it being old is still relevant but secondary to the one of it not being fit for purpose because of safety concerns!
Hope you’re also aware your thieving federal gov’t will toll the bridge? What I see from your comment is selfishness and lack of compassion for other. It is simply I Before Other mentality that disgusts average Nigerians from you people's egocentric nature. If the 2nd Nigeria bridge was a priority, why is the coastal road not a priority? 2nd Niger Bridge was built when Nigeria took the highest loan and fell into recession twice and it was cool with an Igbo man but he can't just swallow a coastal road being built at a time Nigeria is paying back its loan. |

It then begs the question as to why you fought a war to ensure the ‘IPOB’ don’t detach themselves from you…and why you’re not supporting their present efforts to see the back of you!
You have proof the second Niger bridge cost $2 billion dollars? If so, can you share it with us? If it does turn out that the bridge cost the amount you claim, then the cost has obviously been inflated by your darling APC gov’t! Face them!
If we check all the billions of dollars Nigeria has sucked out from Alaigbo, with little to show for it in their region by way of federal presence, then wouldn’t you say they more than deserving to have $2 billion dollars worth of project in their region!? That’s assuming the figure you quoted is correct. All your epistles is not what the OP is asking. His point is why did the SE blackmailed the FG to build 2Niger bride when it could have been rehabilitated and probably added another lane for wider passage rather than building a brand new bridge when there are other pressing commitment. Same Igbo are the one shouting at the top of their voice that the coastal road is a wasteful spending |
