Igbo shouldn't play second fiddle because Yorubas are never self centered. We know the region that centralised Nigeria. Would you countenance what looks convenient to you if the scales were to be turned?
If demanding justice and fairness makes the Igbos emotional and entitled-leaning, then we will remain more than happy to dorn those togas. I won't respond to emotional talk from you if you can't be factual. Is it the fault of Yoruba that Igbo could not get PDP ticket? Why is it their fault when your delegates voted northerners? Won't you be happy if SW have allowed the ticket given to the north? The truth is that many of you thought Tinubu or SW won't get get the ticket, you banked on the north to jettison the agreement just because it didn't favour you. Your late shout of Obi is a belated unplanned move to keep up with SW that played their game well. franchasofficia: Please APC was not spearheaded by Tinubu and Buhari alone pls and pls.
Ogbonnaya Onu paid the money used to register APC formally as a party with INEC plus other major contributions and he reminded APC members this at the just concluded APC Primary convention, not hearsay. You can go and listen to his official speech at that convention to confirm. Rochas Okorocha, Nwajiuba, Chris Ngige were also among the founding members of APC.
Even Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi spent as much as Tinubu if not more in sponsoring APC campaigns.
The only reason it looked like Igbo founding members of APC aren't that visible like Tinubu and Buhari was because the majority of Igbo populace rejected APC and queued with Goodluck/PDP which was the same thing that happened in 1999 when PDP picked Obasanjo. Yorubas rejected Obasanjo and PDP and said they want Olu Falae and ACN.
Did that stop PDP and Igbos from supporting Obasanjo and PDP?
The thing is, Yorubas and Hausa-Fulanis with the rest of Nigerians are still carrying over the civil war grudge against Igbos, but they mask this dislike and distrust with several unfounded reasons to buttress their point, its well, nature and time will take care of all these injustice at the set time That is the reason why I said Igbo approach politics with sentiment. What was the contribution of Igbo in the formation of APC? Do you even know how acronym APC was formed? Who proposed the APC logo and there slogan. ACN came into the formation with over 15Senators, 5governor and more than 100 HoR members with numerous state legislators. Who were in attendance on the first meeting of merger talk? Where was it held? If you can't recognise that sacrifice then don't preach fairness and justice. The role of Onu is well known and he was well compensated likewise Okorocha, demanding more than they were given presently would amount to asking for too much. As it is the nPDP would get presidential slot in APC before it gets to any Igbo. That is the political reality and doesn't amount to bitterness or whatever you are insinuating. I am concern how you deliberately ignore how PDP played SE only to focus on APC when indeed SE has a better chance of becoming president through PDP in 2023. All that is now history but Igbo makes it all look as if Yoruba are responsible for their defeat in PDP. I tell you, there should be a reawaken enlightenment in SE to make the people of the region embrace politics of pragmatism. Why did Igbo killed APGA in SE? Why the best of Igbo in Peter Obi could not build a formidable party from APGA? Why is OBI jumping from one party to another? Why has Igbo legislator at NA not being able to demand for additional 1 state that would enable them have strong voice in national politics? Why do Igbo politicians sell their votes and never do what they preach? |

franchasofficia: With all due respect, you are very wrong in your assertion that Igbos disdain Yorubas politically.
I don't want to go back to political issues of 1966 because we won't ever come to a honest agreement on the events of that era, so the argument will end in a truce.
Let's start from 1999 that is not so distant from us and many members here.
Alex Ekwueme was the key founder of PDP, he also had the intentions of using PDP to achieve his lifelong ambition of becoming Nigeria's President but then the issue of Abiola saga came onboard and there was a common agreement that Southwest the Yorubas needed some succour and they had a gentleman agreement to cede the presidency to Yorubas and for that Obasanjo was freed from jail and made PDP Presidential candidate. Ekwueme insisted that he was the founder and deserved to fly the party's ticket, other founding members told him to please allow it to go to Yorubas, Ekwueme said okay but let me still go ahead and contest so our party's primaries will look democratic.
On the other end was a second party the ACN which was a merger party, one having Olu Falae as flagbearer and the other having Ogbonnaya Onu as flagbearer before their merger. But the party chieftains of the both parties told Ogbonnaya Onu to step down for Olu Falae in the interest of fairness to allow Yorubas produce the President to assuage the death of Abiola, and Ogbonnaya Onu accepted their suggestion and gave a statement buttressing why he was stepping down for Olu Falae.
That was how two Yorubas emerged as the Presidential flagbearers of the two contending parties in 1999.
Igbos massively voted for Obasanjo and at the end Obasanjo emerged President and ruled for 8 years and handed over to Yaradua from NW.
Yaradua died and his VP, Goodluck emerged President and it went back to Buhari from NW with Osinbajo a Yoruba VP.
Igbos supported Obasanjo twice that he contested without any prejudice you can go and check the results, and reason people called PDP Igbo party.
Now 2023 is coming, all eminent Yoruba elites have been speaking the truth that it is the turn of Southeast, including Olu Falae that Yorubas so much loved. Even Obasanjo that hardly talk in such issues also came out to say it is the turn of Igbos in 2023 for equity and fairness.
One APC Chieftain, a Yoruba man, Prince Ebunoluwa or so granted an interview to Arise TV last year and said it point blank that if Nigerians and particularly APC wants to be fair and just, that APC should zone the 2023 Presidency to Southeast to douse tensions and to also make Igbos feel belonged. He said he has suggested to his father and brother Bola Ahmed Tinubu to please not contest but support an Igbo man in APC to clinch the post, that that was the most honorable thing to do. Many other Yorubas came out to say same but Tinubu refused to listen.
Now back to the perceived hatred Igbos have for Tinubu, it all started in 2015 election that some tribalistic statements against Igbos were attributed to Tinubu and wife, plus Lagos Oba Akiolu infamous drown in The Lagoon statement against Igbos and the later use of thugs aka Agberos in Lagos to stop Igbos from voting in Lagos.
Before then, there was no kind of dislike for Tinubu among Igbos resident in Lagos especially until after 2015.
Now if you are honest and honorable enough brother, you would agree with me that Igbos have supported and voted almost all the regions of Nigeria to produce President; Obasanjo, Yaradua, Goodluck, and is it too much for Igbos to expect Yorubas to at least reciprocate the support in 2023? That's why Igbos feel so enraged and angry with Yorubas cos they have supported one Yoruba son to emerge President in 1999 and 2003, and at least equity and fairness demands that Yorubas support just one Igbo to occupt same post, even if its Rochas or Orji Uzo Kalu or Ngige or any other Igbo person that Igbos don't really like, at least that will make Igbos feel belonged and that would have solidify the Southern unity we all pray for. The problem with Igbo is they approach politics with emotion rather than being truthful to themselves. You make it sound as if PDP was a brainchild of only Alex Ekwueme. That's is complete misappropriation of fact, unlike APC that was spearheaded by Tinubu and Buhari, PDP was formed by groups of old politicians majorly from the north and South, PDP formation was never Alex Ekweme thing but has much influence from old and retired generals. The group that formed PDP is known as G-18 later increased to G-34 The argument about the role played by Igbo in pre 1999 and in 1998 PDP primary is well documented and has been trashed on so many occasion on this platform. Alex contested against Obasanjo and lost. Abiola did not win 4 of 5 Igbo state in the election. These are verifiable records that no narration can change. Justifying the hatred against Tinubu on account of Oba of Lagos statement and Tinubus wife is so unfortunate, when in actual fact Tinubu appointed Igbo to handle key position in his government. Yoruba know your hatred toward Tinubu is simply because he is a Yoruba man and that has really help Tinubu to gain sympathy among concerned Yoruba who see the hatred as an affront to the Yoruba race. It defiled any logic to demand APC microzone it's candidate to SE when PDP that your people worked for for 23years could not seem it fit. That's another emotional entitlement that doesn't work in politics. You failed to assert your authority in a party you have more influence only to result in blackmail from another party. Now let me inform you that APC didn't have zoning arrangement in their constitution it is PDP that has a written arrangement in their party's constitution to zone between north and south. Zoning is a party decision and not ethnic decision, don't blame Yoruba for decision of APC. Let me inform you that you isolate your region when you embark on it is Igbo turn, when you should have promote South turn and then lobby among ethnic groups in the South. Igbo has a better chance of becoming president only and until they align with Yoruba and settle their political differences. We are waiting to see the voting pattern from our brothers from SE in the coming election |

Politics › Re: Peter Obi At MKO Abiola's Residence In Ikeja For The June 12 Event by Ttalk: 9:02am On Jun 14, 2022 |
franchasofficia: One thing my Yoruba brothers and sisters don't understand is that an Igbo President will even benefit Yorubas more than Igbos and any other region because Lagos is the second home of majority of Igbos.
Virtually every successful Igbo man invests in Lagos, Abuja, PH, Kaduna, Asaba, Kano, and many other cities outside Southeast. As average and poor as I am, I have investments spread across 3 geopolitical zones of Nigeria, which many other tribes hardly do and its not as if I reside in those cities, but for the love of entrepreneurship, national development and financial security which Igbos stand for in Nigeria yet some people want us to believe Igbos are the problem, God forbid.
God has presented Nigerians, especially the youths of all tribes another lifetime opportunity to get Nigeria's leadership right, please let's not allow tribal religious sentiments and hatred to miss this great opportunity.
To be honest with you guys, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is good, yes he has some atom of corruption in him just like most Nigerian politicians but one great thing about Bola is his ability to recruit and bring onboard great minds to help him build a formidable force and deliver quality leadership. Tinubu can be called any bad name but I must tell you all that Tinubu is not as tribalistic as Muhammadu Buhari.
Tinubu recruits competent hands from any tribe or religion, he doesn't usually place priority on your religion or tribe before he recruits you to work with him, but the only issue right now is that Tinubu is no longer as strong and energetic as he used to be to be able to handle Nigeria's myriads of problems created and magnified by Buhari.
Nigeria right now is a failed State on the brinks of total collapse and Tinubu doesn't have that former energy and strength he used to have to rescue our dear nation of today.
People, I mean the hyenas and jackals in APC right now will hijack his government and further balkanize Nigeria beyond repair. That's why you see them evil geniuses and destroyers rallying behind Tinubu, they want to use him as a front to destroy what is left of Nigeria and Nigerians will place the blame on Tinubu and Yorubas.
That was why I became so disappointed when APC elected Tinubu as their flagbearer instead of a well qualified Prof Yemi Osinbajo. Check my previous posts and threads before APC Primaries, I was routing for Osinbajo and was already preparing to roll out drums to support him cos what Osinbajo did when Buhari went for his infamous 6 months medical leave remained indelible in the minds of great Nigerians like us. It showed that Osinbajo would have delivered this nation without minding any useless cabals that always gather at Aso Rock Villa at the beginning of every new Presidential regime in Nigeria.
But since Osinbajo isn't running in 2023, please my good brothers and sisters, lets rally and support Peter Obi in 2023. Don't look at him as Igbo candidate, look at his personality. Loot at the personalities he is working with in Labour Party. Imagine Pat Utomi, one of the best minds Nigeria has ever produced backing Peter Obi. These are men of integrity who are wealthy without politics. Let's give them a chance with our support.
God bless you all. Engr Franchas This seems to be one rational opinion from an Igbo person out of many Igbo that daily come online to ridicule and malign Tinubu and SW. The damage has gone beyond repair as an average Yoruba man will think twice before having anything to do with Igbo in politics. When it comes to politics your people have established that they are opposition to whatever Yoruba stands for. The Igbo politicians over time have been used to create a division in the South as the recent campaign of anything but SW is an eye opener to the Yoruba. Yoruba overtimes have embraced all ethnics in Nigeria particularly the Igbo, Obasanjo government engaged quality Igbo sons and daughter in his government with powerful portfolio but Igbo we're at the forefront of promotion of marginalisation during Jonathan government that the entire south help put in power. Let Igbo retrace their step and we will show love. Until then let everyone pursue their destiny |
