I’m Yoruba, and I agree that we don’t have a rich variety of soups, however hard it is to admit.

Alternatively, the better way to put it is Yoruba don’t have any unique soup apart from Ewedu and Gbegiri, both of which are very bland at best/
I knew you where telling lies the moment you said gbegiri tastes bland.

Stupid club and their management decisions.

Todd Boehly will ruin that club.

The coach already got them on the right track playing like a team and winning... All they had to do was work with him next season to solidify his philosophy.

Probably why De Zerbi hurriedly resigned.

Another Brighton coach headed to Stamford Bridge.
Yes, De Zerbi is favourite to clinch the job. All this trial and error coaches, Chelsea misses Abrahamovich, I still can't get around why Tomas tuchel was sacked in the first place.

FREE money for FPIs. They will flood in now that $ is nearly at 1500. Their inflows will lead to artificial appreciation of the naira to about 1200. Then they'll exit. Thus making a killing on currency differential + 26.25% ROI. Happy days!

YOU CAN'T RIG INTERNATIONAL FINANCE.

Give Nigerians power supply. Give them security to boost agriculture, trade and tourism. Cut down on wasteful government spending. Enforce rule of law no matter whose horse is gored. Allow free, fair and transparent elections..... then sit back and watch foreign investors flood in as the country prospers. It's really that simple.
You said it well, but you missed the most important thing, Corruption. Without the death penalty strictly enforced for corruption and bribes, Nigeria not going anywhere no matter how beautiful the polices are.

There are things that confused me about this country and I don't know why it keep repeating itself in every road contracts I have seen in Nigeria. Why is it that this country would construct a road with zero landscaping. The sand would just be there very glare and in contact with the coal tar. What happened to grassing or interlocking stones to cover the sands? I DON'T UNDERSTAND! The annoying part is that they would brandish it as a proudly completed project. Why is it that an Engineer in Egypt would construct a road and complied in that regard with every single road in Cairo whereas in Nigeria, the same Egyptian would not lay emphasis on the government about the same procedure as an engineer in Nigeria. I repeat this same catch phrase again... "who bewitched this country"?
My own is that why must all our contracts be giving to foreigners? We have alot of Nigeria construction companies, so much for job creation.

If tithing is your way of giving, then, it is okay, but you also mentioned that it is not compulsory. So why are pastors hellbent on it? Some even argue that Jesus Christ will not recognize one who does not pay.
Well those pastors who claim anyone who doesn't pay his/her tithe are going to hell are not been truthful, if you pay or not, it's your choice.

Kobojunkie:
1. Um... Jesus Christ did not come to condemned anyone for obeying the Old Law. After all, He too lived His life in submission to the same Old Law which is His Father's Will. He instead condemned those who pretended by word only to obey but lived in outright disobedience of it. Hence the reason why He condemned the religious leaders of His time including their doctrines and traditions. undecided

That said, Jesus Christ called His followers to following a different Law which He came to bring to them, and Tithing was not included as a part of the New Law. So, anyone who claims to be of Jesus Christ but pretends to hold onto the old rejects Jesus Christ. undecided

Handing money to your gods of men while pretending you do so on behalf of God or Jesus Christ does not cause God to change His mind or Law to accommodate your particular foolishness. Remember God hates the foolish and has nothing to do with them. Even Jesus Christ said the blind will fall into the same ditch their blind leaders will fall into. There is no part in Jesus Christ for such foolishness. undecided
You are so wrong, I understand that tithing is not compulsory and cannot take from me or give me salvation, but if I'm been blessed in my local church and I know my pastor is into the ministry full time, why shouldn't I pay my tithe? After all giving is an integral part of our faith.

If he isn't being blessed in his giving to the church, he can stop but there are people that would willingly give to the Church and promote God's agenda here on earth and God's work will never lack. Some of us have seen and experienced first hand what God is doing through his genuine ministers that some of you criticize. Not all pastors or churches are fake. if you know the fake ones and you have evidence you can go call them out but trying to paint all churches as bad or fraud is pure evil

It's not really thier fault if you look at it, alot of churches are not teaching her congregation Christ, Abel Damina ministry is one of the few in Nigeria that does. Instead churches are teaching believers to be sin conscious instead of to be Christ conscious. His approach is really the best way to deal with addiction but they don't know.

Shawarma and Hotdogs.

As for me, I chose my meals based on their nutritional values, not based on their tastes or their appearances. So, I so much like Editan and Periwinkles.

Noodles tastes great but I avoid it because it is not just starch but artificial starch. The same applies to Macaroni and Spaghetti. I rather soak Garri that is natural.

How did you eat the Abacha? Your claim is like that of someone who takes Pap without adding Sugar or anything else to the Pap and asserts that Pap is tasteless. Some bad cooks can make you hate Abacha. You may also hate Abacha if you eat the one mixed with the liquid substance called Ncha. The Ncha tastes like soapy water. I hate it in Abacha but people claim that the Ncha cleans stomach.

One thing I have discovered on this thread is that many commenters are condemning certain foods based on just one-time experience in the hands of terrible cooks. How can one say that Okpa tastes bad? The person even went further to say that he or she thought Okpa is close to Moi Moi in taste. When did Moi Moi begin to taste better than Okpa? I know at least 3 white men that like Okpa so much.

Another person speaks ill of Amala and Ewedu. I am not a Yoruba. But Amala and Ewedu do not taste bad. I must confess that the appearance of Amala and Ewedu is not enticing. I must also confess that the first time I ate it was in one local and unkept "mama put" and it didn't taste nice. But I later began to eat Amala and Ewedu after I tasted the one prepared by good cooks.
Bro pls moi tastes better than okpa, there is no argument there, and here I came to that conclusion the day I tasted the much hyped nsukka okpa. Though I myself enjoy eating okpa with that suya pepper of Hausas, but let's be honest it's overrated.

Eriokanmi:
Thanks for dropping a different but reasonable scenario. I lived and schooled in America but chose to come back home. There are limitless opportunities here.

As you're running away, lots of Chinese, Japanese and Indians keep thronging Nigeria in search of opportunities we've never seen. Imagine a Chinese opening a shop in Oshodi grin. They'd come with a pair of trousers and begin riding jeeps in less than 5 years. This was what I saw, which brought me back Home. Meanwhile, those I left behind said my village people had prevailed. Now, I dash them money each time I visit. They can't even try what I did now cos age isn't on their side anymore and they're overwhelmed with family needs. Some of them haven't gotten papers till date so, they can't even visit home.

As I speak, I can only say, thank God I came back. I'm quite relevant in the industry in which I operate. I can't imagine me relocating at that age...for what reason exactly? I hold visas of powerful countries which I have not even used. I can visit all the European countries with the multiple visa I hold, any time I choose. I don't have to queue before obtaining American visa. With a drop box, I'm good.

I live in a part of Lagos where we enjoy 22hrs power supply. I don't have to turn on my gen if the light blinks cos I know they'd restore it in minutes. In advanced nations too, light does blink. I had been inside the Geneva Airport for 20 minures and light wasn't restored affer they took it. Prof Adewole, the former health minister was there that day. We jammed eachother. He was also returning to Nigeria.

I drive 40 minutes to the airport. I get to VI ahead of those living in Lekki/Ajah despite leaving their homes early. Life is about choices but choosing rightly is edifying and rewarding. I remember a day i was painting my house. The owner of the company said, we painted Davido's house and his dad's university too. I was like, that means there's nothing celebs can enjoy which I too can't. Look inwards and you'd see opportunities that will transform your life and that of your entire family. I just completed a WHO-sponsored project in the first quarter. Nigeria is a blessed nation. What we lack is leadership. If only we can jettison tribalism and bigotry, we will get it right someday.

The bad choices we make are the reasons Nigerian youths, who are supposed to fix the nation are running away. Our leaders who have refused to leave the space, always operate like cultists so they care less about the masses after deceiving them into winning elections. Imagine a senator being expelled for exposing his colleagues. His conscience must have disturbed him to spill the beans despite being an officer in the house. Getting it right begins with you and I
lovely writeup, indeed Nigeria is blessed, but we just lack good leadership.

Sometimes, our policy makers come up with positions that look somehow. Why will the CBN discount retained earnings of banks as part of their capital? I can understand some other/statutory reserves, but not retained earnings. Retained earnings form part of the interest of shareholders, which has been left to help grow the banks faster. This policy would require total fresh injection of over N4trillion as capital (long-term) for the existing banks to retain their licences/status as at date. Does this recapitalisation drive guarantee attainment of the utopia of a US$1trillion-economy?

Some banks already have negative shareholders' fund. This policy does not take into cognisance such precarious position, but just wants the bank to add funds to its share capital/premium to achieve the new target, which might still leave the banks retain licence with negative s/holders fund. Some magic! I think CBN should do more on the supervisory and regulatory front. A lot of benchmarks exist, so the banks that want to play bigger, within the regulatory frameworks, should plan and implement strategies to meet higher capital demands, not this blanket approach to forcing every bank to be big.

As it stands, the least capital injection required by a member of the FUGAZ group is about N230billion (Zenith Bank). Unity Bank with a negative s/holders' fund of N190billion, requires just about N184billion new capital injection to retain its licence (will still have negative N6billion) based on this recapitalisation policy. The new policy needs rethinking through. Does not look well formulated. Retained earnings, at least, needs recognition as existing capital for the banks.

My opinion sha.
It's simple, they actually are trying to mop up excess money in circulation, and also trying to attract fresh inflow of USD into the economy.

PoliticsRe: FG Orders NERC To Revoke Licenses Of Non-Performing DISCOS by ttmax09(m): 9:17am On Mar 12, 2024
cornelman:
I laugh at Nigeria when we talk about electricity, especially when Minister Adelabu talks. His knowledge of power sector is very low. I guess he didn't know that Nigeria needs up to 40,000MW to meet its load demand. Yes, DISCOs have problem but Nigerian electricity problem is not just about discos.
- From Genco, installed capacity is around 15,000MW, and they generate 4000MW or less in many cases. That's about 25% of installed capacity and 10% of national electricity demand. Not because, of anything but gas issue. Basing majority of generation on gas is a big problem. Diversify!

- At transmission company, the wheeling capacity- maximum their network can take is 7000MW, but they always claim it's 8000MW. Well, let's say 8000MW.
Now if Genco were to solve gas issue, and generate at 80% of installed capacity, say 12,000MW, can transmission deliver? No! else there will be a total comatose of TCN network. TCN network needs upgrade and expansion. Their system is weak already; and coupled with limited generation is the reason for many grid collapse witnessed in recent times. Their performance in February was terrible. Although, many people thought it's the Discos that decided not to give them supply.

- For Discos, by installed capacity, they can actually take whatever is generated up to 12 to 15,000MW. And that is why they have load shedding. They ration power supply to different areas. But they also need expansion to create more substations and revamp the existing network equipments.

The major problem with Discos is that they are private and want to make profit by all means, whether they satisfy consumers or not.
Some of their investors are just in for the money, not efficiency of their discos. A lot of them believes in ramping up revenue through estimated billing. This is where government has to do more in policy enforcement, not just making it. Estimated billing should be wiped out as soon as possible. All customers should be metered. The government should look into this.

Also, once estimated billing is eliminated, electricity subsidy should be removed so that Discos bill on cost reflective tariff.

Discos not offtaking all power available: Energy theft is rampant in Nigeria, and that is why most discos, choose areas where they give more electricity. Areas with more theft will see less supply because it's going to be a loss of revenue for Discos. They prefer to supply areas with less thefts and where they can get 90 to 95% of their money. There should be strictness on punishment for energy theft if things will change.

Again, Discos should be monitored. I mean well monitored and forced to revamp their network A percentage of their revenue should be mandated for upgrade. Most of them don't do upgrade, for them, it's all about the profit.

Customer rights should be given optimum consideration and it shouldn't be difficult for customers to report any form of right violation.

A lot has to be done in power sector, from making policies, enforcement and investments. TCN and Discos still need investments more.

-
Spot on with your analysis, 2 things you mentioned is inline with what I have observed, why do we have to depend on mostly gas to generate electricity, we are blessed with hydro resources in this country, also confirmed by Niger state governor the other day about his state having 90 dams or so, why can't we generate alot of of electricity using hydro, when are the government going to settle the issue with mambilla power plant and get the plant operational, I heard Otedola is building a transmission station in lagos, this will be good if it comes on stream, then again we need to wield the big stick against power theft and power infrastructures vandalism, and lastly stop electricity subsidy.

Fryx:
Don’t.

Don’t ever make the mistake of changing who you are to integrate into a circle that does not align with you by default. Instead, work on being the best in the circle that aligns with you.

I was once forced to leave my uncles care to hustle for myself. I found myself in an environment that is completely different from my personality. To survive, I have to adapt and start talking.

Bad decision. Very bad decision because it helped me nothing.

Sure, I was able to get them understand me with force. But, they simply just agree with me and they never understood me and are not completely happy with me. Last last, my relationship with them became so messy I had to leave.

Now, I was a very introvert that keeps my thought to myself. Zero social skills.

But the deal has been done. I have learn to spew my mind to the outer world. Not a good thing at all.

I think different. Very different (check my comments on this platform)

I have very different opinion and experience from people. It doesn’t make sense to share my thoughts with people because they can’t relate majorly.

I will be more respected and valued being my reserved self. But, I have become something I hate.

Till now, I am still hoping to completely be my old self. But till then, I will unfortunately continue being unpopular and weird.

So, never tamper with nature. You are your best as you are now.

Do this instead - love knowledge.

Don’t just love knowledge, take bold steps.

You don’t need courses to learn digital skills. Read, read, and read helpful free resources. The more you read, the more you know.

Practice then too. Yeah, it takes time without a mentor. But your experience will make you a mentor in the future.

Focus on what you know how to do best. The people that are not willing to accept you as you are now will never accept you, even if you change. They will even say you are looking for attention or trying to force yourself on them.

Don’t try it.
Love yourself. Believe in your self. Make books and online resources your best friends.

Those you are looking up to start somewhere. You don’t need them, it is not who you are.

Just be you, and stop caring about the rest of the world.

Get lost trying to make money online. You will, don’t just give up.

I had zero friend myself. And I get started with zero ₦. Had to do some odd job to get my first phone (which cost me 8k) and slowly, I ride up.

Do any other thing, but never try to integrate into a circle that does not love you.
Op best advice here, never try to change yourself, I was lucky I picked a skill while finishing secondary school, though I didn't get it at once, i kept falling and rising without anybody's input only my mom believed in my dreams till I finally did it, and I have never been happier, I'm proudly a sigma male and give all glory to God.

I did not think something like this can still happen in this era but this is what I have to deal with. So my mum flat out told me she does not like the girl I took home because she is not fine. About 3years ago when we went home together she told me this but I just disregarded it like when I'm ready she won't have a choice but to accept her as she is. To be honest she is not fine at all but she gives me peace of mind which I feel is the ultimate.

She was involved in an accident with my dad last year and we lost my dad in the process. During the burial I went home with my babe again and my mum still made her displeasure with the girl show.

The thing now is that I went home again to see how she is doing and she called to speak me again after stating that I had disobeyed her by not breaking up with the girl she said is still not having her and if I insist she is the one I should count her out of the marriage. She can never come visiting or even call her. She will not attend the wedding. Now I am 32 and she is 30

How do I navigate this situation. I plead for good advice. Have you been in a similar situation how did you handle it.
