Funnily enough,I never enjoyed this show.I personally believe it was and is very inferior to its contemporaries in the crime-drama genre.Try and watch the HBO 10-episode mini-series "Band of Brothers" and if you have the time, you can add another HBO production, "Deadwood"(only 3 seasons before it was cancelled) to your list. You won't regret it.Both series are very high quality productions.

I thought i've seen the best show when i watched Game of Thrones but i tell you. The Wire has threatened GoT and perhaps overtook it. Just finished the finale of Season 3. All i can i say is mind-blowing!

The Wire is just more than a show

No.I am not personally "pained" by your post.I am 6ft1.I wasn't looking for a saucy retort.I only wanted to inquire why you had to "put down" a hardworking, creative young man with something as inconsequential as his height. From what I've seen of "Falz" and Messi, they are both taller, talented and better looking than you will ever be.Compared to them, you are basically a nonentity.

I have known this your username for a while on Nairaland and I know you are a football follower.Tell me,are you also put off by the heights of Eden Hazard,Pedro,Lionel Messi and Iniesta?I have seen your photos before and I can tell in terms of height, you aren't more than 4ft5-4ft6.What I have noticed about ladies is, they usually project their insecurities on others.E.g.A short lady hates short guys and a lady from an economically deprived background is turned off by poor fellows. My question to you is,as a lady of less than average height, why do you erroneously believe you deserve a 6ft tall man?

1."Super Mario World" the 1990 version on a super nintendo
2."Mega Man" the 1989 version on a family comp
3."Alien 3" the 1992 version on a Sega Mega system
4."Predator" on a "Gameboy"(the version released in the late/early 90s)
I don't like 3D games on the new gen systems(they are too serious and sophisticated/complex for an "ol'G" like me) but I do watch their "walkthroughs" just to see how far the industry has come in terms of graphics, technology and storylines

Culture / Re: Five Things We Must Stop Doing As Nigerians by tuagbo: 12:44pm On Feb 25, 2015
Habeebpain:

1.Breaking Traffic Laws: You know you are breaking the law by driving in the opposite direction of traffic but you feel it will get you to your destination faster and you go ahead with your plan. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it doesn’t and you end up causing a traffic jam and wasting the time of other road users.

It is annoying when as Nigerians we scream for change but we are not willing to start with ourselves. You see stupid drivers breaking traffic laws and still claim that they are right. It’s a pity there’s no true test of driving skills in Nigeria or else a lot of drivers would have had their licences seized.

2. Erecting Large Signposts at Junctions and Bends: I think there’s a shortage of sensible people at the agencies that grant permits for signposts because I see no reason why a signpost should be erected in such a way that it prevents drivers from seeing vehicles coming at a bend or junction. Sometimes you even have multiple signposts at a place with each one trying to overshadow the other. Don’t we learn anything from “Oyinbo” movies? Can’t you see that their signposts are usually tall and on a single pole when placed at a junction or bend?

3. Refusing to construct proper sewage system for your house: This one is very annoying. People will build houses and not make arrangement for drainage. All they do is make a small channel that takes all bodily fluids and “yamayama” water to the main road filling the whole neighbourhood with stench. Some people are even worse, they throw their wash water on the main road even though there’s a gutter in front of the house. And when you call their attention to the damage they are causing, they see you as an enemy. I think all CDAs should make it a law that landlords must make provision for proper sewage disposal. Whoever fails to do so should be fined and of he/she refuses, they should report to the appropriate authorities.

Apart from the fact that it is an unhygienic act that can lead to outbreak of diseases and infections, it also damages the roads. Some roads are always wet even though it hasn’t rained in months. We complain that the government doesn’t build good roads but when they do we fail to maintain them.

4. Throwing litter anywhere we deem fit: majority of Nigerians are bad at disposal. We throw away our trash anywhere we think is right: on the road, in the drainage, schools, even mosques and churches aren’t left out. This is a very bad attitude we need to stop.
I know the waste disposal system is very poor in Nigeria as most of the masses live in areas that are “inaccessible” to waste trucks. But we can still strive to keep our environment clean. It costs you nothing to put that sweet or biscuit wrapper in your pocket or in a corner of your bag till you get to a place where there is a bin. It might seem like a little thing to do but I believe when the little ones see you doing so they’ll emulate it.

5. Selling on the road/Pedestrians route: This one is terribly annoying. I will divide this into 2 groups. One, those who setup their wares/goods on the road leaving the pedestrian walkway behind them and those who extend their shops and block the road meant for pedestrians.
These two sets of people endanger their lives and that of pedestrians. Imagine you are trying to dodge a motorcycle that is headed your way and instead of climbing on to the pavement meant for pedestrians you bump right into the fish seller who has set up her stall on the pavement. Unfortunately for you, your head is placed directly in front of her as she brings down the cleaver to cut the fish….. I hope you get the picture.
The pedestrian route is meant for walking not for selling. If you know someone who does this, please correct them. I know they are trying to survive in this harsh economy but two wrongs don’t make a right.

These are the 5 annoying things Nigerians do. I actually have more but these 5 are top on the list.
6.Opening churches and mosques unnecessarily thereby compounding more noise pollution in the vicinity of human inhabitants.

You assume someone spiritually frustrated even when the person is fully aware that their is nothing like spirit to him.

What if he assumes you intellectually frustrated wont you get offended too?

Seriously people you guys should always employ intelligence in ur arguments and not always assumptions, assumptions and assumptions... habaaa
What they were doing to "Frank317"is called "Projection".They are merely projecting their own "spiritual frustrations," anger and bitterness on "Frank317".They truly believe they are smart but they aren't.These "religious" folks are just too simple-minded.That's why I don't participate in any "back & forth" with them.

The Alien Trilogy.
Loved it.
The "Alien" franchise isn't a trilogy anymore. It can best be described as a "quinlogy"(five parts):"Alien"(1979),"Aliens"(1986),"Alien3"(1992),"Alien:Resurrection"(1997) and its pre-quel,"Prometheus"(2012).The first two movies were really good but the rest weren't so good.
TV/Movies / Re: Lets Talk About Science Fiction Movies.. Which 1 Is Your Fav? by tuagbo: 2:02pm On Dec 18, 2014
(1)"Blade runner"(1982)-This is a sci-fi classic by Ridley Scott but could be confusing for the layman.
(2)"Demolition Man"(1993)-An action sci-fi movie starring Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes.
(3)"Total Recall"(1990)-Not the 2012 remake(which was unnecessary anyway) but the original movie starring Arnold Schwarznegger and Sharon Stone.
(3)"2001-A space odyssey"(1968)-This is also a sci-fi classic by the great Stanley Kubrick but can be confusing for the average viewer. (4)"Lost In Space"(1998)-This is a sci-fi,special effects extravanganza. If you want to watch a more laidback sci-fi movie, watch this one but it gets serious towards the end.

But no
This loud mouthed fellow will not keep silent
If my father no matter how talented he is said to be ,slept with anything in skirt in wild orgies including teenage girls and contracts AIDS and dies of same,I as one of the products of his wild orgies won't be all over the media talking about him like he were a god.
The man was a low life
His sad legacy will humble me into quietness
But he is a Nigerian
A land where a man's ills can be whitewashed to nothingness
If it were in the USA,Fela would have been in a sexual crime register for life and spent years in prison too

From his pictures,it was obvious the man had AIDS a while and had ample opportunity to spread it with impunity by his lifestyle
Only God knows how many women and innocent little girls that contracted the disease from him
When the story of AIDS and it's spread is told in Nigeria,Fela cannot be forgotten

Personally I don't care much about his music
Not my taste
His image doesn't appeal to me neither does his music and for his son to open his mouth loudly tells me they actually think of themselves to be some sort of gods.
I don't

I have followed Seuns' career for many years and I can say without a shred of doubt that Seun Kuti is more famous outside Nigeria than he is within the country. The young man regularly gets interviewed by major music publications and news networks worldwide and packs venues abroad when he is on tour.Do you know the Nigerian musician called "Nneka?"She is also big outside Nigeria but virtually unknown in Nigeria.Widen your scope man.

Fela is more recognised outside than in dark Africa. He is a genre that is being studied in music universities here by oyinbos. Africans are still in the dark as usual to recognise his ingenuities.
Thesame with Seun.He always fills venues all over Europe and the Americas whenever he tours and his music sells more and is always being discussed by scholars and serious music critics in Western countries.
