There have been scoffers even before jesus was born, scoffers while he was alive, and scoffers after his death. Scoffers have always existed so i wonder why "in the last days scoffers will come" sounds like prophecy of the messiah's coming. Infact pretty much every religion predicts doom for their scoffers!
