There would have been similar noise if Buhari has attempted naming UNN after him.

Even Zik and Ojukwu couldn't get UNN named after them.

Only Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello could get University of Ife and Sokoto renamed after them without much complaints.

It will be difficult to have UI, UNILAG and UNN named after someone in this age. We don't have many heroes left.

Let's remember that the renaming of the University of Ife was done under a military administration, some kicked against it then using the same reason people did when GEJ renamed University of Lagos, Moshood Abiola University

Interesting times indeed. When the late Ondo State Governor named then Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti as Obafemi Awolowo University in the early 80s, it was changed by then Military Governor of Ondo State under the erstwhile Buhari-Idiagbon led military administration to Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti

In addition it was the same Buhari-Idiagbon led military administration that kept the late Dr Alex Ekwueme in prison detention

Any sane and serious investor would have seen this coming, anyway. I saw it all coming since August and I quickly keyed in when the rates were 18% and above because I sensed that we were then in the best of times on TBills. Ever since, my attention has been focused on the NSE where it is happening big time right now. More funds, I am confident will move into NSE for the bumper season ahead! Information and timing is key to financial investment. One lesson we must all learn. Except that one is guaranteed preservation of capital, anything less than 15% on TBills at this time when there are alternative competitive investment vehicles is a joke. The cycle will play out though as the economy takes a new turn come 2018, hoping that oil price will continue to inch up and the govt is able to key in and sustain potential growth in the real sector.

Even the bullish run on the stock market can not continue at the same pace. I agree with the statement "Information and timing is key to financial investment"

as if I knew this would come to this. I terminated my tb last month to buy bitcoin when it was 6k plus. No regret anyway. 150% ROI. When the rates are back I will move my profit back to TB and continue on both front.

I saw it coming too especially with the positive GDP growth rate and decline in inflation together with the decision of the FGN to go for dollar denominated debts. As per bitcoin its been a good deal for me I must confess.

With due respect to the Vice President I do not think the section 171 allows the President to appoint the EFCC Chairman without recourse to the Senate.

For the avoidance of doubt I am quoting section 171 of the Constitution

171.
(1) Power to appoint persons to hold or act in the offices to which this section applies and to remove
persons so appointed from any such office shall vest in the President.
(2) The offices to which this section applies are, namely -
(a) Secretary to the Government of the Federation;
(b) Head of the Civil Service of the Federation;
(c) Ambassador, High Commissioner or other Principal Representative of Nigeria abroad;
(d) Permanent Secretary in any Ministry or Head of any Extra-Ministerial Department of the Government of the
Federation howsoever designated; and
(e) any office on the personal staff of the President.
(3) An appointment to the office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation shall not be made except from
among Permanent Secretaries or equivalent rank in the civil service of the Federation or of a State.
(4) An appointment to the office of Ambassador, High Commissioner or other Principal Representative of
Nigeria abroad shall not have effect unless the appointment is confirmed by the Senate.
(5) In exercising his powers of appointment under this section, the President shall have regard to the federal
character of Nigeria and the need to promote national unity.
(6) Any appointment made pursuant to paragraphs (a) and (e) of subsection (2) of this section shall be at the
pleasure of the President and shall cease when the President ceases to hold office;
Provided that where a person has been appointed from a public service of the Federation or a State, he shall be
entitled to return to the public service of the Federation or of the State when the President ceases to hold office

Unless the Vice President equates the office of the EFCC Chairman to that belonging to the class of section (e), that is a personal staff,
the EFCC Act can not be said to be in conflict with the Constitution as regards the need for the Senate to confirm the appointee of Mr President
for the post of the EFCC Chairman

And whenever the act and the constitution clashes, the constitution gains preeminence....

When they know this, why do they keep sending his name to the Senate for confirmation??

Indeed if the FG feels it is not obliged to obey the EFCC Act, then let it go to seek legal interpretation from the Courts. It only a court of competent jurisdiction that can declare a law inconsistent with the provisions of the constitution and not His Excellency The Vice President of the Federal Republic.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says banks will no longer trade the naira at N375 per dollar for invisibles, such as school fees, medical bills and travel allowances.
CBN, on Monday morning, said Nigerians can now get the dollar at 360 across all commercial banks within the country.
“The CBN to sell forex to banks at N357/$1, while banks will sell to their customers at N360/$1 for invisibles (BTA, medicals, fees, etc),” the apex bank said on Monday.

The rate n tenor must be for a year
So for, 18.28% true yield is 22.37%
