The thing about humans is that we tend to excogitate ideas about our world, through our perception of it. And this is also what's at the root of religious beliefs. We tend to ascribe agency to our environment. We think, that since this is how it is in our world, then this must have been how it happened.

Humans evolved consciousness to the level of understanding our environment and aiding our survival. I don't think we have evolved the cognitive capacity to understand something outside of our environment. I don't think we possess the understanding and level of consciousness to comprehend whatever it was that engineered the creation of our universe and the other million universes that exist. It's simply beyond our scope of reasoning and understanding. Maybe in a millions of years to come, we would, but given our level of consciousness we can't in our lifetime.

That's why I laugh when I see people make claims about the creator of the universe and attribute humanly traits to it, like father and son, and even claim that he demands their worship, speaks to them, answers their prayers, watches them when they are alone, stalks their everyday movements and activities, loves them unconditionally, punishes them when they break moral principles that were obviously a product of human construction, wants a personal relationship with them, and would punish those who don't believe in him in hell for all eternity. Not only does this represent a severe case of delusion and intellectual vacuousness, it also represents how self conceited humans can be.

I think questions like this are a huge gap in our knowledge and understanding about our world, especially given the fact that we are anthropomorphic species that love to seek patterns in our environment. But the truth is that we simply don't have answers to this question of whether the universe has a creator or not. But a serious problem arises when we decide to fill up these holes in our knowledge, with delusions and concoctions, or religious beliefs, like we all commonly refer to them as.

I mean, doesn't it baffle anyone that the understanding we have about our world was presented by desert dwelling folks who lived 4000 years ago? Doesn't anyone find this unsettling? I mean, even if anyone was to propose a valid explanation of the true nature of our world and it's creator, even if it's strewn with lies, at least let it be people from the 20th century and beyond. At least these people would be less ignorant and more morally sound.

I always am amused by those who question things on the premise of not understanding what such is.

It is glaring that by our present composition there is a limit to what we know n what we understand.

my bank debited 1,968,372.04 which means that my interest amount is 2,400,000 minus 1,968,372.04 = 431627.6

I thought that my Interest amount should be 2400000 x 18.4/100= 441600 which means they suppose to debit 1,958,400 instead of 1,968,372.04

Please gurus in the house, i want to know if there is a tax involve on the interest amount or am i missing something in the calculation

BBC World Service announces expansion

The BBC World Service will launch 11 new language services as part of its biggest expansion "since the 1940s", the corporation has announced.
The expansion is a result of the funding boost announced by the UK government last year.
The new languages will be Afaan Oromo, Amharic, Gujarati, Igbo, Korean, Marathi, Pidgin, Punjabi, Telugu, Tigrinya, and Yoruba.
The first new services are expected to launch in 2017.

I don't agree. My servant in Isaiah 52 wasn't the nation Israel. It referred to the MESSIAH.

Read Isaiah 52 and follow through to 53. You'd understand that it was referring to the nation of Israel. It's all poetry.

Isa 52:1-12 refers to Jerusalem/Zion. However Isa 52:13-end refers to "my servant"

Isaiah 53 is a rubric that most christians use to justify their believe that jesus is the messiah. Christians claim that the coming of Jesus and the way he lived his life, encapsulates the prophecies in Isaiah 53.

But bible scholars and theologians agree that Isaiah 53 wasn't talking about a man, but was a poetic prophesy describing the nation of Israel. Reading the previous chapters- 52 and 51, authenticates this claim.

First I dont think all bible scholars n theologians agree on that position
Second is the issue of translation/transliteration and interpretation.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has set new deposit limits for all categories of account holders and introduced three-tier Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements for banks.
 

The policy pegs a maximum single deposit amount of N20,000 and maximum cumulative balance of N200,000 at any point in time on the Low Value Account. It also places a maximum single deposit of N50,000 and a maximum cumulative balance of N400,000 on the Medium Value Account. However for the High Value Account, no limit is placed on cumulative balance.
 

The policy also categorised bank customers into Low Value Accounts (Level One); Medium Value Accounts (Level two) and High Value Accounts (Level three).
 

A circular to all banks and other financial institutions (OFIs) signed by CBN Director, Financial Policy and Regulation, Chris Chukwu, explained that the policy became exigent after the CBN recognised that access to basic banking facilities and other financial services is necessary in achieving the policy on financial inclusion. He advised banks to adopt the new KYC requirement adding that the proposed deposit limits is meant to reduce the risk of money laundering and financing of terrorism.
 

He said the Low Value Accounts are subject to close monitoring by the financial institutions and less scrutiny by bank examiners.
 

The CBN director said the accounts could be opened at branches of banks by a prospective customer or through banking agents and no amount is required for its opening. However, such accounts prohibit international funds transfer.
 

According to him, the Medium Value Accounts can be opened face to face at any branch of a bank by agents for enterprises or by the account holder but, the accounts are strictly savings with no amount required for its opening. Also, where cross-checking of client’s identity cards information is not completed at the point of account opening, withdrawal would be denied.
 

Chukwu added that for the High-Value Accounts, banks are required to obtain, verify and maintain copies of all the required documents for accounts opening. Account is to be opened at the bank branches by physical presence of the prospective customer and the accounts could be both savings and current.
 

However, for mobile banking products, the account attracts a maximum transaction limit of N100, 000 and daily limit of N1 million however, such products are subject to the CBN Regulatory Framework for Mobile Payments Services in Nigeria.
 

He said that banks are required to have robust, effective and efficient anti-money laundering /combating the financial terrorism (AML/CFT) solutions with screening tools in place that will monitor the various thresholds. “All accounts, no matter how low the transaction or the risks, must be subjected to continuous suspicious transactions monitoring by financial institutions which will determine when incremental KYC requirements need to be provided by the customers,” he said.
 

He said the CBN will ensure the establishment of appropriate processes and procedures for the purpose of monitoring compliance with the regulatory framework. He added that non-compliant financial institutions would be sanctioned in line with the provisions of extant laws and regulations. He said 64.1 per cent representing 56.3 million adult Nigerians do not have access to financial services, hence the policy is also meant to bridge the gap.

From my personal experience and observation, I have noticed that most bankers know little or nothing about TB and most times, they don't submitted an instruction from a customer who is interested in TB. Because of this, I make my inquiries directly from their customer care by sending email directly to them. You can also scan and send your signed instruction via their email. This can save you a lot of stress.

I agree with you 100%. That has been my experience with my bank. I deal with the bank's customer care.

the rate quoted there is not the discount rate, but the effective rate (remember that i reinvested the upfront interest), so the discount rate is effectively 17.8%. So its not a 419 investment
