Nairaland GeneralSee Transformation Of Boy Left For Dead By Parents by tunene66(op): 4:45pm On Feb 03, 2017
A starving child who was left for dead by his parents who thought he was a witch has been pictured full of joy as he sets off for for his first day at school.

Photographs of the little boy known as Hope broke the world's hearts last year after a charity worker found him emaciated and riddled with worms after being abandoned.

Having made a miraculous recovery, the now healthy-looking youngster set off to embark on his education in a strapping red outfit.

The then two-year-old Nigerian boy was found in a shocking state last year.

Hope was abandoned by his family because they thought he was a witch and was found in the streets by Anja Ringgren Loven, a Danish woman living in Africa, in January 2016.

Almost a year on to the day, she posted amazing before and after photographs of her holding a water bottle up to the boy's mouth.

In an emotional Facebook post, she wrote: 'On the 30th of January 2016 I went on a rescue mission with David Emmanuel Umem, Nsidibe Orok and our Nigerian team.

'A rescue mission that went viral, and today it's exactly one year ago the world came to know a young little boy called Hope

'This week Hope will start school.'

PoliticsRe: Governor Loses $10m Bail Out Funds To Mistress In Texas, US by tunene66: 7:23pm On Jan 28, 2017
Dotng:
Bailout funds scandal: Governor loses $10m to mistress

A governor is under probe after the sum of $10 million he diverted from the bailout funds allocated to his state was hijacked by his mistress.

The governor was said to have commissioned his mistress to help him launder the said sum only for the latter to refuse to remit it in the slush accounts the governor provided.

Already, the money in question has been traced to a bank in the United States.

The Nation investigation revealed that the governor resorted to using his US-based mistress to stash the funds abroad in order to avoid monitoring by security agencies.

The cash was allegedly either wired or hauled in tranches in order to beat the nation’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).

In spite of the governor’s tricks, however, security agencies were able to intercept the deal between him and his mistress.

It was gathered that the diversion of the looted $10 million by the mistress created an uproar that triggered the ongoing investigation of the deal between the love birds.

One of the sources involved in the probe said: “A governor from an oil-producing state is in soup and under probe by some security agencies.

“The governor seems to have been duped by his mistress who stays in Texas in the United States.

“The governor is worried after discovering that his girlfriend has defrauded him of $10 million.

“What started as a love affair and promises of good faith has turned sour.

“Yet the governor would not want his wife or the people of the state, who will be disappointed, to know about this ugly transaction.”

The security chief added: “Investigation so far indicated that the governor allegedly diverted part of the bailout funds meant for his state to the mistress.

“All relevant security agencies are already tracking how the cash was wired to the mistress as well as the whereabouts of the funds.

“Very soon, the details of the transaction will be revealed to Nigerians.

“This is why the government has decided to monitor how bailout funds and London-Paris loan refunds were spent.”

The Presidency in 2016 released the sum of N1. 266.44 trillion to 36 states within nine months.

The breakdown includes N713.70 billion special intervention funds to states and London Paris Club loan refunds of N522.74 billion.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had said 16 states were yet to disburse about N57, 663, 185, 735 of the bailout funds approved for them by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The agency also indicted some of the states for diverting the bailout funds which were meant for workers’ salaries.

IBEJULEKKILANDS:
After independence, in order to build a great nation, each country went to work. But in Nigeria, after independence, our people went to pray and fast.
So, while we were praying, Malaysia came here and took our palm seedlings and build a great factory of it.
While we were praying, Singapore went into investment in technology.
While we were praying, India went into ICT.
While we were praying, China went to massive industrialization.
While we were shouting Allah Alakuba! UAE went into massive infrastructural development.
While we were binding and casting Lucifer, Japan went into technological development.
While we were speaking in tongues, Denmark went into education of her citizens.
While we were mounting big speakers in our places of worship, USA was mounting man on the moon.
After our prayers, God, being a wise God decided to reward us according to our labour.
Since those that went into industrialization, technology, infrastructural development, ICT, education etc has been rewarded accordingly. It's only wise God rewards us with our efforts in prayers.
That's why today, Nigerian pastors are competing in building the biggest churches. That's why there are more prayer houses and worship places than hospitals and schools. That's why people rush to prayer houses for medical and business solutions instead of hospitals.
That's why we don't do business proposals before jumping into business since we are going to back it up with prayers. And when it collapse, we blame devil.
That's why it's a sin to say anything negative about pastors and imams.
That's why our pastors don't consider the opinion of engineers while building and blame devil when building collapse.
That's why faith in God replaces building pillars and when it collapse we blame it on Lucifer.
That's why our pastors are making sure they plant church branches instead of schools in every streets in Nigeria.
That's why we always wait for God to do that which ability to accomplish he has already handed over to us.
That's why we want our teachers to labour on earth and come to heaven for their rewards.
Nigeria is a prayer loving, God fearing nation. Religion has taken the place of technology, infrastructure, education and all.
When we are traveling, we ignore all the necessary road requirements, servicing of our vehicles and pray. And, once we pray, we can put a half fit vehicle on the road and blame our step mother or mother in law if anything goes wrong.
That's why there are more people dying on our roads that wild life animals in the wild.
Because, we pray and fast and leave everything to God when God has given us all we need to survive and build a nation.......God help us
We should work and pray

Appeal to Journalists from Sergey Mavrodi

Dear journalists, “analysts” and all kinds of “experts”!

Please stop using MMM to gain cheap popularity. Leave us alone and let us work without interference. I’m just astonished by your irresponsibility and cynical attitude. Interests of millions of people, your fellow citizens are at stake. Don’t you have any sympathy for them? Why are you fueling hysteria around MMM and provoking a panic? Why are you doing this so diligently and persistently, what is your purpose?

In fact, absolutely all your provocative and worthless articles and “analyses” (I said “worthless” because you do not have any real information about what happens in the System, and might have never had; you simply invent everything, fabricate it) are merely negative: “MMM has collapsed!!!.. MMM will not be working in January!!!..” etc. Are you intentionally presenting all of it in such a manner and whipping up tension by any means possible in order to increase the ratings of your publications and attract attention to them? Don’t you care about people at all?

So, nothing has collapsed, and MMM will safely resume its work in January, as announced. Suspension of work for holidays is a usual thing, merely working moment, no more than that. It would have remained a normal, just a part of the usual routine, and might have gone almost unnoticed if it were not for your totally cynical and irresponsible attempts to advertise yourself, create a scandal out of nowhere, and make the most of this news topic in any possible way.

Again, leave MMM alone and let us work. Nothing has collapsed, and MMM will perfectly resume its work in January. We Can Change the World!

That is the Oyo-centric version of the story. You will have to bear in mind the long-going tussle between Oyo and Ife for primacy in Yorubaland while reading that passage. I am inclined to think that the derivation of Ooni from Omo oluwoni is a piece of Oyo propaganda, with the intent of 'showing' that the Ooni is the inferior of the Alaafin.
That's why I am seeking for the Ife version of the story.

Having gone over practically all of the book by Samuel Johnson as downloaded its glaring that bad, corrupt n oppressive leadership together with inordinate ambition, treachery, indiscipline and unnecessary intra ethnic rivalry was the hallmark of the Yoruba race in the 19th century.

Hope we all learn from those past mistakes.

I bet you've never been to Ilorin and to think it is geographically located in the north is naivety of the highest order. It is a political fraud to classify Ilorin and even the whole of Kwara State as north central.

If you're coming to the southern part of Nigeria from the north, through Makera,Makwa and Jebba axis, the moment you cross the Jebba bridge, you will definitely observe a sharp contrast in topography. This means the moment you cross Jebba bridge into Kwara state, you're no longer in the north. Kwara and some parts of Kogi shouldn't be part of north central or whatever. It is a political fraud! All these anomalies shall be addressed in our NEW NIGERIA in no distant future.
I was in Ilorin earlier in the year and I have even stayed in Ilorin for a period of two weeks. In addition I have journeyed to Kano, Abuja n Maiduguri to n fro passing Ilorin. That's by the way

What is clear is the events of the early 19th century made Ilorin, a major Yoruba city have as it's ruler, an Emir who is of Fulani extraction. That is the situation till date.

By the aforementioned Ilorin came under the influence of the Sokoto Caliphate to which its Emir owe allegiance.

The justification or otherwise is debatable and I am not willing to go to that

In conclusion, that Kashmir is in a similar dilemma between India n Pakistan. The ruling class is Hindi (with allegiance to India) the vast majority of the people Moslems (with desire to be in Pakistan)

Such dilemma are not easily resolved

Yes there is a letter. However it does not explicitly say 'come and be king over us at Ilorin' It was a call for help against the pagans bullying them. The flag symbolizes Sokoto overlordship over the muslims of Ilorin, not the pagans.
Look except the book I just downloaded I have different books that deal with Yoruba history with reference to the decline/fall of the Oyo Empire n the Inter Ethnic wars of the 19th century.

It is a fact that Ilorin came under the influence of the Sokoto Caliphate. Whether its justified or not is debatable.

If the Emir Abdulsalami was only for the Muslims, who then is the King of the Non-Muslims in Ilorin?

If I get my facts right, there are six(6) king makers in Ilorin namely the four baloguns (Ajikobi, Gambari, Alanamu and Fulani), the Baba Isale and the Magaji Aare of Ilorin. All these are Yorubas. Till date they appoint the Emir for the whole Ilorin Emirate

After Ilorin fell to Ibadan, it became subject to Ibadan. There has never been any real proof that Ilorin was completely subject to the Caliph at Sokoto.
Ilorin being in the Northern region might be a proof that there was a special tie with Sokoto. Abdulsalami son of Alimi was given a flag from Gwandu (the western empire of the Sokoto Caliphate). According to research done by Abdullahi Smith, a one time Professor of History ABU n Director Arewa House Kaduna, there is a letter in Gwandu written in 1829 from the Emir of the West(Gwandu) to the Emir of the Yoruba(Ilorin) Abdulsalami

I have downloaded the book it makes for interesting reading. How Yoruba language became a written language is interesting. One word I found interesting is the origin of the word Ooni from Owoni itself a contraction of Omo oluwoni (son of a sacrificial victim) hope to hear what the Ifes will say in response
