Hi everyone, I'm not here to cause any trouble, but I wanted to share some information that might be helpful for those dealing with the stress of sending certified copies of transcripts. If this isn't relevant to you, feel free to skip ahead—someone else might find it useful. In Germany, graduating students receive their 'Transcript of Records' once, and that’s it. They face the opposite challenge: when applying to US schools that demand official transcripts sealed and stamped from their German schools, they have to figure out how to send those 'official' copies from Germany. In Nigeria, universities typically insist on sending official transcripts directly to the schools you're applying to upon request. This creates a lot of stress for Nigerian applicants who need to meet the requirement for certified copies. Many try to get their school to send the transcript to someone or an institution first so they can handle it and fulfill the requirements. However, I recently discovered that this isn't necessary—sending the original directly is perfectly acceptable. If you have any doubts, call your university's student administration office to confirm this. I've tried both methods: I explained the application requirements to my Nigerian university during my first application, and they released the official transcript to me (my mum received it on my behalf since I wasn't in Nigeria). Later, through my research (asking the people I mentioned earlier), I learned that schools usually destroy the documents they receive, which is why they ask for certified copies. They expect you to have one original, which you wouldn't want to lose. Certified copies carry the same value as the original by law, but you can have many certified copies compared to one original. However, if you send the original documents, it’s not an issue—just know they won’t be returned. For my next application, I had my Nigerian school send the transcript directly to the German address, and it was recorded as received and accepted. I eventually got the admission. I wanted to share this breakdown for anyone struggling to intercept their transcript because they believe they NEED to get a certified copy. If you’re hesitant, you can continue with your current method, but living in Germany has taught me that asking questions can reveal smoother alternatives. Lastly, I want to say that if something is complicated for you, always speak up and demand a solution instead of trying to put up with it. Till next time. |

WpressBeginner: You do not have enough detail to calculate their vpd grade. it is not only dependent on whether it is 4.0 or 5.0 but also on other factors like the minimum passing grade in their university which I doubt you already know except you schooled there. |

Hello everyone, I have come again it's been a long time. I finally got admitted to study Masters in Data and Computer Science in Universität Heidelberg but there's a little hassle for me: I would like to defer my admission to winter semester instead of the summer semester they asked me to resume for in April. Is anyone familiar with that? This would be the best for me because I have some loose ends to tie up. I already work full-time in Germany (Blue Card) and I am just trying to sort some stuff out here then find a place in Heidelberg to make a smooth transition. |

Bobby5524: Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the recent decision to deny my application for a student visa to study in Germany. As an aspiring student, I was looking forward to the opportunity to further my education and expand my knowledge in the field of [insert field of study]. However, I was denied on the grounds that I did not clearly explain my intent to study. I would like to respectfully request a reconsideration of this decision. I assure you that I am fully committed to pursuing my studies in Germany and have taken all necessary steps to prepare for this journey. In my visa application, I provided all required documents and clearly stated my intentions to study and my plans for my academic and professional future. I understand the need for thorough review and screening of visa applications, but I believe that my application was unjustly denied. I am confident that, with further consideration, you will see that I am a committed and qualified candidate for a student visa. I appreciate your time and attention to this matter and look forward to your response. Sincerely, [Your Name] 4 Likes 2 Shares |

BigOG: It will not be accepted. what you sent is totally different from what they are asking. a certified true copy is meant to stand in place as an original but when you are sending a copy of the certified copy you could as well have sent a copy of the original the same way. 3 Likes |

Hannania: If I don't have a correct answer, I will remain silent; if I do, I will share it. I don't understand how that is a problem; why are you attacking me when I did nothing wrong? I've been through the German bureaucracy with the employment route, but I'm not familiar with student visas; I don't live in Nigeria and I just applied to TUM this month, what do you expect me to say when I know I don't have answers to all the student visa process from Nigeria? I saw your response at the same time I saw the question, but I don't live here on Nairaland. You should learn to be more open to corrections, especially when they can benefit others. 2 Likes |

Hannania: Giving incomplete information can be even more dangerous. The questioner mentioned using a sponsorship letter from someone who isn't a family member AND has only been in Germany for 4 months. Please explain how telling them "any" person does not qualify as being "not entirely correct," as I stated. You should not be defending anything unless I lied to You. |

Hannania: This is not entirely right, please confirm information before assuring people. I would like to correct that you cannot use "any person" as a sponsor. There are requirements the person has to meet and this is available per city (I am very aware of the Munich restrictions because I tried to sponsor my friend here). The salary restriction was not an issue for me, but the KVR guy had to explain they can't allow me sponsor her because of the duration of my residence permit. I have a blue card which is valid for four years and is even longer than the program she wants to study which is a 3-year program. He said I need a permit that is valid for at least five years to qualify to sponsor someone for long-stay. This means I need a PR at least from the best of my knowledge because blue card is still the longest temporary visa I know of here (4 years validity). I would like to also clarify that she is already here in Germany self, but in renewing her student permit for a new program she needed to show proof of funds. We got another close person to us who already has citizenship here to help with the sponsorship. 1 Like |

goldsmiths: My suggestion is to submit an application with your most recent transcript because they will question you about it (TUM in particular). I know someone who is already enrolled in a programme here in Germany, but she wanted to go to TUM; she hid the truth about her current enrollment and submitted a fresh masters application. She had to eventually admit that she wants to transfer schools after they questioned her about what she is doing right now in the absence of a current school transcript or work reference. It is best to mention unequivocally that I am currently enrolled in school and that I want to transfer. |

MrAAA2: This makes a lot of sense to me. The system is already messed up as a result of people's experiences when they obtained admission but lost it. Individuals now make an appointment without knowing which school they wish to attend and then begin their search. I came to Germany to work, so I didn't need a student visa, but reading the stories here has been eye-opening. 1 Like |

MrAAA2: You don't have to be mean, and you don't have to say anything if you can't help. I omitted the name of the university to which I applied by mistake. I'm specifically referring to TUM, and I'm curious what the application process was like for others that went through the same thing. What was the timeline really like from the first approval of formal requirements? Do they explain why you received particular points? Is there a pattern for both direct entry and interviewees? Is there anything you wish you had included in your CV? It differs from what the university tells us because they do not provide all of the details. |

Hello to all, my case is different in fact, I just need help for the admission process because I am already in Germany. There isn't a lot of detail on the application process here; most posts just talk about when they applied and when they got admissions, then focus on the visa process. I'm trying to see how good my points are because I heard they grade with points. Do any of those who have been admitted have enough information to tell us how their points were scored and whether they took an extra interview? According to what I saw, the interview selection is also based on points. Thank you in advance |
