Tension has escalated in Nsukka, Enugu State, as a group of masquerades known as Oriokpa Nsukka seriously manhandled Lawrence Ezugwu, a senior seminarian from the Catholic Diocese of Nsukka, breaking his head, Towncrieronline.Net has learned.

The incident took place on 29th March along Enugu road, Nsukka near Ugwuoye junction.

According to reports, Ezugwu was leaving the premises of St. Theresa’s Cathedral, Nsukka when the group of masquerades beat him up and smashed his head with a big stone, leaving him in his pool of blood.

Ezugwu lost consciousness and had to be rushed to a nearby hospital, Bishop Shanahan Hospital, Nsukka for quick medical attention.

According to news reports, when interviewed the victim said: "as I was waiting to know why the road was crowded, two masquerades came from behind me and started beating me mercilessly. As if that was not enough, before I knew what was happening, a heavy stone landed on my head. That was the extent I remembered until I regained consciousness in the hospital "

Towncrieronline.Net recalls that in September Desmond Ogbonna, a senior seminarian of the Catholic Diocese of Nsukka from Uda, Enugu also had his head broken by a group of Akatakpa masquerades in Orba, Udenu Local Government Council of Enugu State.

HE WAS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD WHEN HE WAS KILLED LAST MONTH IN LAGOS STATE!

THIS IS HIS STORY:

According to reports in the media... A Muslim cleric, Kazeem Alimson, popularly known as Alfa needed a child for rituals, he then engaged the services of one Simon Kanu who at the time was 15years Old.

Simon said he was paid N500 by the Kazeem Alimson to lure the baby, adding that the baby was killed with a heavy stone in his presence.

The deceased’s mother explained that her baby went missing around 7.pm on Tuesday after she brought him out for his evening bath.

She narrated: “When I finished bathing the younger one, I went inside to get the wrapper to strap him in order to enable me bathe the other child. But on getting outside, I didn’t see my baby again. The sister said he went into my neighbour’s house but I didn’t see him there and when I asked, they said he went out with Simon.

“I called my son’s name but there was no response. Later, we saw Simon that night, I asked him about the whereabouts of my son, he said he did not see him. Simon took my son, strangled him with his shirt and stoned him to death. He is my third child. I feel hurt. My heart is broken. I need justice.”

The Isheri Osun Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Emeodi Camilus, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), who got a tip-off, rushed to the scene and arrested the two suspects.

During interrogation, Simon. a primary six pupil added that the Alfa took him and the child to an uncompleted building where the boy was murdered with a heavy stone.

“I went to site and I saw how he killed Chigozie,” he said.

“He tied him up and was making incantation before hitting him with a stone three times. He said he would kill me if I told anybody. He also showed me his juju knife and that he would use it to kill me if I told anyone.”

But the cleric denied the allegation, claiming that he is not a ritualist but a cult member.

He said: “I was in my house sleeping when I heard people shouting. When I came out, I saw some policemen and when I asked, I was told that they saw a dead child. I went back inside, and 30 minutes later, the police came back and arrested me. I don’t know the boy and I have never spoken to him.”

At this point, the teenager interjected and said, “You are lying. He was giving me sign with his eyes not to talk. I saw you when you were using the stone to hit him until he died.”

The Police revealed that the boy’s dead body was found in the suspect’s house after a search was conducted.

JAMB REGISTRATION TURNS BLOODY AS POLICE GUN SHOT IS SUSPECTED TO HAVE INJURED ASOM SILAS.

I was at the timber shade this morning where I came to buy some building materials for my house project, then I heard some gun shots (2) from the direction of Mt St Camel girls college where I was made to understand is a Jamb registration center.

On my arrival I saw this person by name Asom Silas who has been injured, some are saying is a gun shot or others have given me different accounts as to what happened. I tried talking to one of the police men in the Zenda patrol car but refused to reply to my questions.

How can a police officer open fire on this children remains a mystery to me. I request relevant authorities give attention to this situation before it escalates.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, March 30, 2017 arraigned the duo of Adegbite Adetoye and Ponnle Abiodun along with Origin Oil and Gas Limited before Justice Silvanus Orji of the FCT High Court Apo, Abuja on an 11-count charge of fraud and abuse of Petroleum Support Fund to the tune of N735million, Towncrieronline.Net has learned.

Adetoye and his co-accused allegedly conspired and fraudulently obtained the sum of N735, 132, 076.18 (seven hundred and thirty five million, one hundred and fifty two thousand, seventy six naira, eighteen kobo) from the federal government as payment for the importation of 15,000mt of premium motor spirit (PMS) which they claim to have purchased from Vitol SA and imported into Nigeria through MT Silverie.

The offence contravenes Section 8 (a) and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.


The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.


S. I Ameh, SAN, counsel to the defendants, informed the court that he had a pending bail application dated March 27, 2017 and served on the prosecution same date.


He urged the court to admit the defendants to bail adding that they would be available for trial.
Counsel to EFCC, Steve Odiase, did not oppose the application on the ground that the defendants had earlier been granted administrative bail by the Commission.


Justice Orji granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N100million each with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must be civil servants not below grade level 14 or residents in Abuja with traceable address to be verified by the court or EFCC. The defendants must not travel out without the permission of the court.


The case has been adjourned to May 22nd and 25th, 2017 for hearing.
Meanwhile, Justice Orji has ordered the defendants to be remanded in prison custody pending the perfection of their bail terms.

However, discreet investigation by Police detectives attached to Anti kidnapping unit of the Command led to the arrest of the following syndicate who allegedly perpetrated the dastardly act,
1.Micheal Sansai male aged 23 years of Rafin zurfi Area of Yelwa.
2.Samuel Uzima male aged 24 years of Yelwa,

Nago and group Nabbed Criminal At North Bank.

In the early hours of yesterday youth in North Bank traced and got hold of one criminal who have been terrorizing the town especially Lafia- Abuja high way.

The apprehended criminal who was simply identify as Sati was tracked at Ronald myim filing station refiling the tank of a motorcycle which Nago and his group later discover to be a stolen one.

Members of the people around the scene where Sati was caught louded the efforts of Asema and group for arresting the criminal who many identify as one who has been terrorizing the area including Lafia-Abuja high way.

Asema Nago, Raymond Nago Asema, the Minda youth Ambassador after thorough investigation handed the criminal to men of Nigerian Police Force, headquarters in Makurdi.

A 16 year old boy, Obinna Iwuoha, was allegedly shot dead by a trigger Happy police Sergeant, Wilson Ufere on Thursday at the infamous "Ugwu Omiri Lawyer" on Anara - Umuahia expressway in the okohia community in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State. The policeman reportedly went berserk by killing the teenage boy while three others went in coma, owing to the injuries they sustained from the bullets he fired at them.

FULANI MILITIA KILLED PRISONER IN JATO AKA

Three days ago, some Fulani terrorists killed this young man who is serving his jail term at the Mini Prison located along Jato Aka - Kashimbila road.

He went to take a bath with his mates at Mkomon tributary of River Katsina Ala.

He was shot in the head and died instantly in the river.

His remains were since deposited at NKST Hospital Jato Aka mortuary.

His mates protested the insecurity at the prison, almost causing havoc.

But rather than beef up security in the area to safeguard the prison and it's environs, Prison Authorities earlier today evacuated all inmates at the prison for other facilities.

Prisons all over the world are federal government facilities which should be provided with adequate security .

But now that Fulani terrorists caused such a havoc on the Federal government facility, what's next?

JATO AKA ON FIRE

....As youth Intercepted a Vehicle with Arms

....Soldiers Stray Bullet Kill Pupil

Information reaching me from Jato Aka, headquarters of Turan nation is that the town is now on fire.

According to reports, youth keeping vigilance on the ancient town, acting on a tip up arrested a vehicle with suspected Fulani occupants allegedly with arms.

The said suspects allegedly called the soldiers in Kashimbila who then called their colleague's stationed in Jato Aka for rescue.

Promptly, the soldier's arrived the scene and whisked the suspected car and occupant's to their base.

The continued insistence of the youth for the vehicle to be checked angered the soldier's who started shooting sporadically in the air to frighten them.

In the process, a stray bullet killed a school pupil who had just returned from school and was taking launch in his compound, near the soldier's base.

Many other armless civilians were injured as a result of the soldiers bullet including Chief Gbenda Lukera, a community leader cum politician.

The situation now is such that residents of the town are scampering for their safety while commercial shops and other economic activities are put to a halt.

The villagers are alleging conspiracy of Fulani and soldiers to destroy the town.

As l write, soldiers from Kashimbila stormed Jato Aka for reinforcement, only to avoid the searching of the suspected vehicle earlier impounded by vigilante youth.

Please help call the authorities to avoid a Zaki Biam scenario.

"She was burnt in what can only be described as occupational hazard. Her Husband who does Mkpo na ana has passed away so she took over the craft but an accident occurred and the whole place went up in explosion and she is fighting to stay alive and look after the kids.

Tell me how else someone can show the seriousness of the injury sustained by this lady and can you imagine that Chi baby who is been helping her is now also sick and depressed. Earlier today the bodies of those brutally slain by the lethal fulani herders at Ichembe in Ipav Gboko Local Government and their bodies deposited in the mortuary pending arrangements to be committed to mother earth were today withdrawn for burial.

Below are some of the pictures at the burial ground in Mbamkor Yandev Gboko Local Government where one of them who was also the first to be laid to rest among the five (5) murdered,while the other remaining four were also buried one after the other.

Pray without ceasing for a repose in their souls even as we demand for an investigation into the attacks and cushioning of its future occurrence.

We are in Okengwe in Okene LGA at the house of a notorious criminal known as "Dollar Mopol" who was killed in November 2016 during a gun duel with men of the Nigeria Police Force. Even though he's been killed, some of his boys who were arrested confessed they used Dollar Mopol's house as 'armoury'. The arms have been recovered during an earlier search by security agents and today, on #DemolitionWednesday, the armoury goes down.

To a mother whose infant was dying at the scene of a motor accident, the angel she must have prayed that God would send to her help her turned out to be Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, the immediate past governor of Ondo State.

An eyewitness, David Aboi who spoke with The Trent’s correspondent in Abuja says that a multi-vehicle accident involving two commercial buses and a Dangote truck occurred along Abuja-Abaji-Lokoja Road near Abuja on Monday evening.

“Many people were seriously injured in the accident which involved a private car, a Cross Country bus, a Peace Mass Transit bus, and a Dangote truck loaded with cement. The Peace bus was trying to slow down at a bridge when the Dangote truck, perhaps due to brake failure, ran straight into the three vehicles,” Aboi recounts.

“The Dangote truck fell into a ditch and many people were injured. One man had his right foot almost decapitated. He was bleeding profusely. It was a terrible sight.”

“The wounded passengers were being dragged out of the vehicles when Mimiko arrived the scene. The former governor was going to Abuja, I believe. It was the first time I have seen a governor in person up-close.”

A crowd had gathered at the scene of the accident at Gegu village before Chikara when former Governor Mimiko arrived. He stopped his car and went through the crowd where he saw an injured mother and her infant child. The child was in a critical state.
According to another eyewitness, (who took the photos showed in this report and pleaded anonymity), Mimiko immediately took the woman and her baby away from the scene of the accident and performed first aid on the child.

“He [Mimiko] told her he was a doctor and he was there to help them,” he said. “It was a very compassionate scene. I had to take a picture, though it was difficult to capture the governor with my phone.”

Mimiko gave the mother of the child some money and told his security detail to take her to the nearest hospital. The child and her mother were taken to Abaji General Hospital, in his Toyota Bus, we confirmed.

After the mother and child left, the governor, who is also a former minister of housing, went back to the other accident victims and performed first aid on a number of them.

“The governor tied the leg of the man whose right foot was broken and almost cut-off,” the source said. “I overheard him lamenting that had this happened in Ondo State, the emergency medical services would have been at the scene in just 12 minutes.”

When contacted, a spokesperson to Dr. Mimiko, who confirmed the incident but said that the former governor does not want to talk about it. “He doesn’t believe in self-glorification,” our reporter was told.

Dr. Mimiko is a medical doctor whose tenure as Ondo governor witnessed a revolution in the public healthcare system especially in the care for mothers and children. His award winning medical programmes, Abiye and Agbebiye, reduced maternal mortality in the state by 75% in 7 years.

[url]The news of the death of this great man Alhaji Suleiman Afegbua came to me now as a rude shock. He was said to have been shot dead today by unknown gunmen along the popular Benin/Auchi express way around Ogbemudia palm plantation.

He was the immediate past chairman of Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo state and he hails from Okpella. Until his death, he remains a very loving and down to earth man and was very friendly to all and sundry.
I pray Almighty Allah to give your family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Ijaw vs Benin Communal Crisis looming as the Ijaws contend ownership of Gelegele community in Benin Kingdom , Ovia South West Areas of Edo State where there's gas flow station.

The President of the Ijaw Youths Council ( IYC ) , Mr. Eric Omare has warned that, if the issue of Gelegele community in Edo State ownership is not properly handled it will lead to a serious fracas between the Ijaws as a nation and the Binis as a kingdom. He further lamented that , they (Ijaws) have longed been marginalized by the edo government by depriving them of their share from their God given natural resources.

The youths of Benin kingdom staged a solidarity match to the oba palace after the threats from their ijaw tenants and then send a message to the ijaws that , the Binis are not cowards but, warriors and their military unit is ever ready to reprise whatever external aggression.

According to some of the angry Benin youths who speaks on behalf of the Binis in a very strong bitter tone that ' they (the Binis) are not the kind hearted and peaceful itsekiri people who are the overlords of warri kingdom but,let go their lands to their tenants just to make peace between them and tenants. that they ( the Bini's ) are ready to defend what belongs to them as their gesture to accommodate tenants shouldn't be mistaken for stupidity.

One of the Benin youths ask ' How old is the Ijaw kingdom in Nigeria that's if they have one and how many dynasty has reigned under the ijaws? He further said that the Benin kingdom has reigned over 40 monarch of which is the son of the 14th oba who suppose to be heir of Benin kingdom that established the great warri kingdom in the 1480AD so, he asked where were the others that are now fighting over lands as at then when others was establishing kingdoms? He asked 'what are their history to provd they own a place rather than claiming with violence approach?

Another of the Benin youth made a reference to the throne of England which is the highest monarchy in the world today though, not history of mankind that ' Is no not a breaking news but a known fact that , all tribes and persons in England remains under her majesty, the queen of England . He said, though God created and own all lands but only afew were made kings over others and that must be respected for the sake of peace.

Note that there has been issues between the Ijaw vs Itsekiri of warri kingdom, Ijaw vs Urhobo of Aladja, Ijaw vs Ilaje, Ijaw vs Yoruba of ondo, ijaws now vs Benin kingdom and there is ijaws vs federal government please is Nigeria an Ijaw community or is there something we are not being told? People are still wondering how lands that was known in the 70s as Okerenghigo are now known as Okerenkoko via political manipulation.

My take on this : There is a need for the federal government to take a stand on the issue of land dispute to put an end to all these problem once and for all because we are going to have such issue over and over if a long lasting solution is not put in place. We are all suppose to be brothers and sisters by the virtue of being human created by the Almighty God but, due to excessive greed and power of supremacies over others as a result of who should have a larger share, some groups persons and ethnic nationalities are forcefully encroaching into others with the use of violence as if one own the monopoly of violence over the others.

The earlier the federal government stop handling such issue with carrot stick which is only but a short measure for them to continually extorting from the troubled region, the better for humanity irrespective of persons.

In my option, I think the best way to resolve such threatening issues is to follow due process and respect the rule of law which is the last hope of the oppressed and common man. Justice cannot be achieved through the application of violation, oppression and suppression of other but, by presentation of evidence and references to show originality therefor, All parties should tender their proof of ownership over lands and the need for those in the appropriate authorities of government to be sincere in passing of judgement.
