Source: http://towncrieronline.net/2017/02/13/photos-of-a-jeep-with-battered-tires-spotted-in-benue-state/ According to economists, the state of the economy determines a lot of things - cars, buildings, foods etc. So when a car is bad, look at the economy, it will tell you a lot of things. A Facebook user, on seeing this jeep on the road in Benue State, ascribes it to the hunger and recession in the land. Read what he wrote: "This hunger is getting out of hand.. What is the meaning of this? Is this spare tyre or Benue hunger? See how innocent people are suffering.. I couldn't control myself today than allow tears washed my face this morning when I walk passed wurukum today and saw this car been parked somewhere in makurdi. Now the questions is: What have Benue people done to the present Government to deserve this unavoidable hunger and poverty been enacted upon them by this present APC Administration? This is very bad and death close... We can't continue this way.. Enough is Enough.."

In 2016, it crossed the one million Tonne mark in rice production. But the state is not only serious about rice production. It arguably has one of the biggest onion markets in Nigeria, located in Yauri Local Government Area. A Facebook user was so impressed, he wrote, "If only my brother in faraway Oyinboland will stop wailing and finance a commercial agriculture project in his hometown, he will reap so much in no distant time. A little dollars now does a lot of work."

Source: http://towncrieronline.net/2017/02/09/fayose-writes-nsa-blames-fg-for-prison-congestion/ The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has accused the Federal Government and its law enforcement agencies of contributing to the problem of prison congestion in the country through what he described as “executive rascality.” He, however, called on the office of the National Security Adviser to critically appraise the nefarious activities of the security and law enforcement agencies, saying apart from constituting an infraction on the fundamental rights of citizens guaranteed under the constitution, they also contribute to the perennial problem of prison congestion in the country. Fayose’s position was contained in his response to a letter by the NSA, Maj. Gen. B.M. Mungonu (retd.), to state governors with reference number NSA/601/A and dated January 16, 2017 on the need to facilitate quick decongestion of Nigerian prisons. The NSA was said to have attributed the problem bedevilling the administration of justice in Nigeria to congestion of prisons by awaiting trial suspects and condemned convicts. But Fayose, in his reply personally signed by him and obtained by journalists on Wednesday in Abuja, said that agencies of the Federal Government, including the police, the Department of State Services and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arrest and detain innocent citizens and perceived opponents of the state for flimsy reasons and on malicious, spurious and unfounded allegations. According to him, many Nigerians have been languishing in prisons without any reprieve because of alleged trumped-up charges of heinous offences preferred against them by these agencies of state. He said, “Specifically, the controversial arrests and continued detention of Messers Nnamdi Kanu, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.) and Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, among several others, and the flagrant disregard and disobedience to court orders directing their release from prison by security and law enforcement agencies are not only unjust, immoral and detestable but constitute an affront to the rule of law and a rape of democracy. “Your inaction or failure to address the above-mentioned acts of executive rascality and lawlessness will definitely undermine and belie your sincere concern and genuine commitment to the decongestion of the prisons as stated in your letter.”

Source: http://towncrieronline.net/2017/02/07/top-civil-servant-burns-nieces-legs-with-hot-stone-in-kogi/ If men and women were God, it would be difficult to stay alive. This saying was proven true in Kogi State, where a woman burnt her niece with a hot stone repeatedly for having the dream of going to school. A Facebook user, Usman, shared the pathetic story a few hours ago. Read what he wrote, "A very high level of a case of child abuse committed by Mrs Rebecca Omacho to the daughter of her sister by name Favor who stay with her. Mrs Rebecca is the executive secretary kogi state scholarship board, she decided to maltreated favor by putting stone in the fire and after the stone get hot, she pulled it out with a rag and placed the hot stone on favors leg just because she stop favor from going to the school she have been attending and keep her indoor permanently but little favor was said to have defiled the order and scale through the house fence to attend school class, it was when she return home that this wicked and evil woman decided to maltreated her for disobeying her instructions. What a wicked world? I was also surprise seeing the wicked woman begging for cover up at the ministry of women affairs and social development, that exposing her to the public will dent her carrier in the service since she only have one more year to retire but her plea was ignore by the authority of women affairs and social development ministry, while the case was later report to the police for proper investigation and documentation but before them the accused run away from the said ministry were the case was brought for interrogation by members of community life advancement project ( CLAP). Am also appealing to state government to take care of little favor because she is seriously in need of medical assistant."

Source:http://towncrieronline.net/2017/02/06/man-escapes-death-after-car-rams-into-a-herd-of-cows-in-yenagoa/ Wonders, they say, shall never end. While Nigerians are crying about the activities of Fulani herdsmen, no one can envisage people are also at the mercy of their cows. According to a story shared on Facebook by Swamp Area News, this is the also the case, when a man rammed his car into a herd of cows, sustaining injuries. Here is the post: No fewer than five cows lost their lives and two others badly injured last night at the Opolo area of Sani Abacha Expressway in Yenagoa, when a car accidentally rammed into hundreds of cows that were freely occupying the highway. An unconfirmed report has it that the driver of the car who also sustained several injuries managed to remove his car which still has shattered pieces of it on the accident scene, & is now responding to treatment in an undisclosed hospital. It could be recalled that the Governor of Bayelsa State recently inaugurated a Cattle Management Committee to check the movement of cattle in the State, and provided hectares of land for cattle rearers, but herdsmen are still roaming the street freely with their cattle.
