Thanks Opalu, the cracks are virtualy tiny so may be i should go with the structural engineer explaination. There are different reasons for buildings to settle. One is the answer the Engineer gave you. Every building settles even if it was built on pile foundation. However settlement must be uniform (monolithic) and must be within acceptable limits. That is it should be very very small and not noticeable. If the building settles differentially you get 'non-uniform' cracks. Another reason for cracks is plaster cracks. When poor quality plaster sand is used, there will be thread -like cracks on the walls. The 3rd reason for cracks is the breakage of blocks done by plumbers and electrical conduits. If these long breakages are not filled with strong mortar or weak concrete, then you get major cracks that make it look as if the building is failing at foundation[/quote] |
@ Opalu: good work. i have just plastered my 3bedroom twin duplex and after a while i stated noticing tiny cracks here and there on the walls. i inquired from the structural engineer what could have caused the cracks, he said the house have just began to settle. can you please give a candid opinion on this. Thank you |

I totally agree with you, my 2 kids after school(lesson) teacher collects N35K per month for 3sessions per week and she confided in me that she has about 7 other children she teaches after her normal school duties. give or take she nets home about N270k. she is just 23yrs old. I respect her. Think twice |
As per going for studies, you can buy Personal Travel Allowance(PTA) $4000 per quarter around N163 per dollar. For school fees you can bid for the total amount of your school fees from CBN through your bank which is currently @ N155.71 per dollar and 1% commision then like N0.50k Bank charges total should be around N158.26 per dollar with proper document like admission letter , school stuffs etc. Likewise for all proper transactions. check the CBN website. |

I get to understand that the ANAGO word actually means i no go. The word was developed during the slave trade and it was passived by the indigenes that people captured by the Frech slave traders are treated better than the English slave traders, so in protest, the slaves will be shouting I NO GO when being sold to English slave Traders, which was pronounced ANOGO. Thanks, a bit of Lagos history from late grandmother. |
All these small boys that were in non-existence then, are just yabbing rubbish. one day sha. |
