Like i said, it is a B1 visa category as you are not going to get paid in the States.

You all should apply together as a group. However, note that each of you will be questioned individually.

If any of you have attended a related conference previously, it will serve a good boost to your group application and if not, be ready for a very good day.

Also my wife is one of d directors of d company and d reason for going is to network and boost my biz.

Then you have no problem. Just try and make the payments for the conference before your interview. This is the only reason the CO will take you serious as a conference visitor.

Since your visit is for three days and not for religious employment purpose, your visa category is B1 (Business).

The VOs stationed in Nigeria have an idea what a small scale business in this part of the world looks like. This is where being very articulate in your presentation during interview, comes in.

You need to know why you're embarking on your trip now.

Who will take charge of your growing business while you're away.

Is the business worth returning back to (the VO thinking angle).

How many workers depends on you for a living.

In your case, you just started this business and it has not yet grown to at least a year, and you're going on a vacation (wrong signal to any CO).

The better visa category should be a conference / workshop to help you better understand your business and help it grow strong.

This is one of a very few questions you need to sort out for now.

Besides, you do not need to pay any money for flight reservation before your visa is granted. Infact, you dont need to bring flight itinerary for the visa interview.

And neither do you need any form of document arrangement. There is no particular order for arranging your documents. The questions the VO will ask you, are based on the information you filled on your DS-160. Endeavour to fill what you can defend and remember....

Being a small scale businessman will make your visa approval a daunting task for yourself alone, not to mention your family together. You will be suspected by the CO of an intention to migrate.

Questions like these will surface:

1. What kind of business are you into?
2. How many persons are under your employ?
3. What your monthly or yearly turnover is?
4. Have you travelled before on same related trip to any developed country with the same economic standard such as the U.S. And how long did you stay? (The VO will judge your application from this angle and can approve your visa as well, due to your past trips).
5. Did your family travel with you on at least one of such trips?

The VO will be asking him/herself, does your business serve as a very good tie to come back home to?

These are questions the CO will naturally ask you to know if you're worth the visa or not.

ozzy2: Hello house, please i nid posible suggestions and advise regarding my case. I got a 2year usa visa(b1/b2) july dis year. My purpose was to attend an academic conferenc but the purpose was nolonger achieved due to dis on going ASUU strike. I intend to travel in feb next year for another one and after which stay back to have my baby and pay all d bills ( but was not pregnant as at wen i went for my inteview and my questions were just centered on the conference).
The issue now is dat I dont know if i will have problem renewing my visa if i D̶̲̥̅̊ö. Kindly advise.

Your concern should be on how you will convince the CBP officer on your actual mission in the U.S. with a potruding belly, and not if you will be issued with a visa in future.

Travel with sufficient money which will be presented to the CBP officer as your proof of being able to pay for your birth procedure, or else you may be turned back on arrival....

Equally read through the information on their website and get acquainted, after which you then show interest to attend any of their conferences worldwide (USA inclusive). Their HQs is at Alexandria, Virginia, just a few miles outside of Washington, D.C.

If your intention to travel for conference is genuine, i see no reason your visa wont be approved this time.

The dropbox system is a renewal of the same category of expired visa without an interview slot. To qualify, an applicant must possess an expired one or two years visa.

Are you a national of a foreign country and not South African? If so, you need to have been consistent with your studies for a period not less than 2-3years with proof of good grades.

And you can be sponsored by a relative as long as you know and can answer questions about his/her status in the States.

Go along with documents about your temporary job in Cape Town and your school ID card and transcripts to buttress your claim.

Note: The transcripts must be addressed from your school in a sealed envelope to the U.S. Consulate you're attending for your interview.

He is going for a conference in his related field, so nothing to worry about.

A hotel reservation is necessary if the conference organisers do not make available a partner hotel for the organised workshop.

The CO will not demand to see a booked accomodation as you're not expected to make any paid reservation before a visa is issued (except you're sure of a refund).

Exception To The Rule:

You're to tender a conference letter that shows a commitment on your part i.e. your conference must be paid for. And if you're a member of that association, the better (The CO will ask for your membership number and only punch this number into the organisation database and see your profile for assurance).

The salary you earn is but an element in visa related issue. The ultimate is your presentation during physical interview.

If you claim that you want to attend a conference on IT/ cyber security related matters, then you must be able to convince the VO that you're truly what you say you are, by being able to defend what you know on IT and how the conference will assist you in securing of life and properties in a different manner.

NOTE: The conference must be paid for, and also being a registered member of the conference your wish to attend, is a big boost to your application.

I want to understand that you attended the interview yourself to get the B1/B2 visa?

Meanwhile, the agent's emails will be taking seriously at the U.S. Border Control Area (that is if you're lucky to be boarded by any airline of repute.)

Your details will be sent to most airlines entering the States who in turn will question you before permission to board e.g Emirates, British Airways, Lufthansa, Airfrance, Qatar Airways, KLM, Turkey Airline; others, i dont know precisely their rapport with the U.S. Dept of State. In which case, prepare to be scrutinised by the CBP officers when you get to the Port of Entry.

My advise to you, is to know the exact reasons why you're travelling to the U.S. with adequate proof of funds and accomodation (paid)

Nothing to worry about since your company is sponsoring your business trip, you only need to add your payslips to your application which must clearly show your income and tax, while the company presents every other document related to their business.

This must be clear and unambiguous as it relates to their activities and evidence of income.

Conference related visa in your area of studies. Note, you must have been in that school between 2-3 years to show a form of seriousness to your academics...

You can apply at anytime, but that will only happen after you receive your conference IV which should have been paid for.

The questions you need to ask yourself before applying are:

1. Where are you applying from : Ghana or Nigeria?

2. Who is your sponsor : Husband or Relative?

SO my sis works for a french company and has just applied through VFS this morning for her visa...she's got a meeting on the 17th of November in Paris. Currently, she's got a 5 year UK visa and 2 years US visa. And she's just received sms that her application has been forwarded to the French COnsolate. Her company is paying for the trip, accomodation and she has all her documents properly submitted.

However, her only worry is that she needs the visa to be out before the 17th. Do you think this is possible?

Ya, I was thinking that LPR which has been applied for me could be a disadvantage. A friend who was in my situation was just given. The only question he was asked is why he was in a haste to travel and he said he was missing his people. I know different officers could view it in different ways.
Apart from my mother, the rest are citizens and have good jobs.
So many years of not seeing my people is not easy especially when you are about 3 hours away from the country.
At the moment, I have my education, my money in naija as my ties.
I have never stayed in any country illegally. In short apart from Canada, the maximum I have ever stayed in UK is 7 days.

There's no need for you to sweat over nothing. 11years ago is a long time for your circumstance to change. You were refused visa to the U.S., but you choose Canada for the same reason i.e. studies (this is a plus for you).

Your number of years in attendance at the university will have to count toward the visa issuance, at least 2 & half years is sufficient.

Your negative point:

Your brother has applied for a LPR on your behalf, your sister and mum are already on LPR in the States, your series of attempt to enter the U.S. on a visa is already in the Dept of State's database (a hard time convincing any VO ).

Concerntrate on your studies for now, get very good grades and partake in volunteer activities in Toronto and environs with reference letter / certificate as proof. Later you can use this as a strong tie and commitment to Canada after which you now apply at the Consulate General of the United States, Toronto.

Five persons are being detained at the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) in Ikoyi, Lagos for allegedly being in possession of fake American and British visas.

Raji Oluseyi Michael, Adegoke Johnson, Popoola Oladimeji, St. John Ojo Osaghae and Smart Imafidon were said to be members of a syndicate involved in the circulation of forged documents to unsuspecting members of the public seeking to procure genuine visa from embassies.

Raji, Adegoke and Popoola were arrested based on a petition from the Regional Security Office of the United States Consulate in Lagos alleging that Raji had in his Nigerian passport No. No. A04910344, a fake UK visa.

John Ojo Osaghae and Smart Imafidon were arrested for applying for UK visa with forged income tax clearance certificates from the Edo State Board of Internal Revenue Service.

SFU Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Isintume-Agu, said John Ojo Osaghae with Nigerian passport No. A03916493 applied for a six months visit visa to UK early in November. She also said based on the strength of the petitions, SFU detectives arrested the five suspects.

Raji, a 32 year old who hails from Ibadan, Oyo State and holds an HND in Purchasing & Supply from the Kwara State Polytechnic told Daily Trust that the visa was given to him by one Popoola who also resides in Ibadan for N500,000. He further claimed to have paid only N200,000 to balance N300,000.00 at the end of his interview with the US embassy.

The SFU spokesperson said investigation revealed that Popoola Oladimeji, a forged document vendor, has his network stretching as far as Oluwole market area of Lagos.
