sheuk: so i shuld still say i have someone in the US? secondly, will i apply wth my properties business or my monthly jobs details info? i thought i can just ignore the fact that i ve somebody in the US and start a fresh and genuine information about myself and family.
No sir, you cannot start a fresh application. Continue with an existing one.

State all your ties to Nigeria. Earnings and properties inclusive. Never know when a CO might get inquisitive.

sheuk: My status and job has changed, i now work in a different place entirely, now i am married wth kids, now i have travel experience to uk many times wth my family. so what do i do?...Do i still have to use my broda info or go for tourism wth my family in a different way wthout any brothers info. tnx
Your brother's information is forever tied to your profile. Do not attempt to deny this fact in your application.

sheuk: The VO asked how did my brother gets into the US? i paused i wasnt prepared to travel then anyway, i goofed. and i also have all the detailed documents of my brother then, i was asked series of question except that, so i was denied. i applied alone then anyway, i wasnt married. Whats my chance now and how do i go about it this time to get a chance of success??

Regards.
Now you can't get to change your permanent details on the DS-160 except the flexible issues that have made your status to change from 2010 till now.

Know more about your brother's current situation in the States and show more confidence during interview.

Hope you have travelled previously since 2010 as your reason for travel is tourism?

What was your economic situation in 2010?

And finally how was your interview details then if you can remember?

Please advice my mum n i wud be applying soon, I work n all but my mum is a full time housewife although my dad is her sponsor. And she has got travel history.what do you advice.
Since she has got travel history, i guess she is good for the interview. For the sponsorship, her spouse can legally do that on her behalf.

You should be fine too i hope. Boils down to your interview outcome, this one...

twizzie: Hi Nairalanders. Good job here..
I need info on the following pls.
My brother was denied visa recently. His wife lives in America and she has a good job. They recently got married in the registry here but she really wants to have the wedding ceremony in USA. What would you advice pls? He applied for visa H1 category I think but was denied.. Kindly advice on what step you think we can take please..
He was denied three days ago. Do you think it's advisable for him to re-apply immediately? Can he appeal the decision in that category of visa application? Gurus in the house, please help out..
Your brother should stop wasting his money and follow these procedure below:

As a U.S. citizen, let your brother's spouse try bringing him over to the States through these two ways:

1. Immigrant visa for a Spouse of a U.S. Citizen (IR1 or CR1) - An immigrant Petition for Alien Relative, Form I-130 is required.

2. Nonimmigrant visa for spouse (K-3) - It is important to note that application for the nonimmigrant visa for spouse (K-3) who married a U.S. citizen must be filed and the visa must be issued in the country where the marriage took place.

After the visa process has been completed, and the visa is issued, the spouse can travel to the United States to wait for the processing of the immigrant visa case.

Two petitions are required: Petition for Alien Relative, Form I-130, and Petition for Alien Fiancé(e), Form I-129F.

oawele: hello tzetzefly,

Thanks for your help so far on this forum, much appreciated.

My parents applied to renew their US visa and are scheduled to attend their interview soon. what advise would you give to them and what documents do you think they should go with to ensure thier visas are approved.

Note the following situation below.

1. My Father is retired and above 60 years.
2. My Mother is still working and in her late 50
3. they are both going on a vacation.
4. they have travelled to the states but that was a long time ago
5. My father is sponsoring the trip
6. they intend to stay in a hotel
Thanks
Are you in Nigeria or in the States?

Your parents should have no problem receiving their visas.

As long as they know where they intend to visit, why they need to visit, how they will fund their trip, what their economic tie is and was prior to this application, then they should be good for the interview.

There are no tailored documents to take along for the interview, they should just bring up all evidence to show and prove who they say they are.
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m):
topchef: Hello house, please I need some help. I am filling DS 160 form but I have a little confusion.
I am attending a conference so I believe my visa category should be B-1 . however while making payment at a GTB branch for visa fee on friday, the cashier suggested that the visa category i should fill in my payment form is B-1/B-2 . So I got a little confused and told her I will come back by monday when I verify because I don't want to make any mistakes.

Please can the bosses in the house tzetzefly , suxe2005 and other gurus help me clarify this issue. It's a bit urgent please.

Thanks in advance.
The CO(s) often time classify your visa category as B1/B2 irrespective of your main travel purpose. As long as it does not fall outside these reasons such as: business, visits, tourism, medical among others.

B1/B2 as stated by the cashier should fall under your reason for travel if it is one of the categories indicated above.

Sjvictor21: To be honest, alot of my friends and colleagues have been denied US visa from ukraine. Even the Canadian embassy. But the Canadian embassy may consider your application if you've had travelling experiences before. The trick question that you are been asked is, why can't you apply from your home country? Applicant keep on fumbling saying all stuffs of blabadash... Actually if you already have a previous USA visa, it might be easier for such applicant to apply in ukraine. To be candid, studying alone is not a strong tie in ukraine when you wanna travel to the states. Atleast you must be married or have businesses in ukraine with alot of cash coming in and out of your account. I know of a Nigerian reverend father who has been in ukraine for a while now. He applied for a USA visiting visa.. He was denied.. The consular said he didn't look like a reverend father. Funny I know.. Later on, he applied again.. Maybe this time he wore his regalia, i dont know.. He was issued a visa. Take note, this man is a religious worker. Secondly, He has spent alot of tangible years in ukraine. As for me, i keep on seeing nigerians get denied even those that have families in the USA. Even when I placed a call to the USA embassy in Abuja... She specifically told me to apply for my first USA visa in Nigeria. That was around last year...So, USA as a whole, when we talk about ties, what exactly are they talking about because I'm barely 20 and i can't get married now or start having children. If it's about my parent's tie. My father works in an NGO, my mother is a business woman and i have 4 siblings.
You can be issued entry visa to any country in the world as long as you have a right of domicile in the country you intend to apply from.

The only issue for the prospective applicant(s) including you, is to know the reason why you want to visit such country including the States.

Other than this, your application will be refused.

As the situation states now, if you feel applying from Nigeria is better for you, then do so.

You're still a student and a dependant so your parents will be responsible for your upkeep.

As long as you can defend the need for travel to the States and your travel purpose is research related on study grounds, with good grades to show, then you can as well apply from Kiev and get your visa issued.

Forget all excuses given by other failed applicants
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m):
bubsykay: I have seen when someone was told there are better schools in the US and you could get there and change your mind, so school alone is sometimes not an enough ties in a foreign country and the embassies do not encourage applying out side your home country. Your travelling experience will help here and you need enough evidence to show your sponsor (parent) tie in Nigeria.
You should also take note that the Ops in question, is a medical student in his/her 4th year in Ukraine.

Also having several travel visits within Europe as claimed by him/her while also presumably returning back for studies, will help such an applicant.

So he more than qualifies to apply for a U.S. Visa in Kiev being his place of primary domicile.

Be that as it may, the issue of a better school elsewhere as you've stated, does not arise here.

If the U.S. Embassy in Kiev instructed him/her to apply from Nigeria, then he/she should heed the directive and do as instructed.
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m): 4:02pm On Jul 05, 2014
Sjvictor21: It had always been difficult applying from ukraine. I made a call to the embassy while I was in school and i was told that as long as I have a Nigerian passport and i have never applied for a USA visa before. That it's better I apply from my home country for my first visa and consecutive visas can follow in any other country where I'm based. I already have my result and a letter from my university stating that I'm a student studying in their University. Besides, i really do not have any tie in ukraine. I only study there. Concerning the amount stated above, is it too small?
If you truly say the embassy discouraged you from applying in Kiev, then try Nigeria with your school documents.

You need as a matter of importance to know that having to reside in a foreign country and your schooling is registered in this foreign country, qualifies you to have a tie there.

There is no specific amount that qualifies for a visa issuance. You have to show a verifiable consistent cash flow from all sources in your bank statement.

Sjvictor21: Hey guys, I've been following nairaland for a while now and it has been impressive. All the assistance being rendered to visa seekers and so on.

I'm a 4th year medical student studying in ukraine. I recently came home to do my elective placement in the hospital and decided to apply for a USA tourist visa.. I've been wanting to apply for this particular visa since last year but somehow along the line, I lose hope and give up. I've been to few countries (Netherlands, Czech, United Kingdom, Italy and France) within the past 2 years and I do come to Nigeria Atleast once In two years. I have already filled in my non immigrant visa form paid the respected fee and my interview is on the 23rd. I'm really scared.. I've been reading various blogs on how applicants are denied visa just for no reason. Now the disturbing thing is that, I study in ukraine. My parents are sponsoring my trip. What tie do I have in this country(nigeria) I'm barely 20 years. I'm only going to the USA for just 9 days and back to where I study. To be precise, i only have the sum of 3000 USD for my trip. Please your help and deep knowledges about this visa thingy would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Why didnt you apply from Ukraine?

You would have been better placed to secure an entry visa from Kiev being your place of current tie than here in Nigeria.

You need documents such as your academic transcripts, letters from your departmental heads and institution to state you as a bonafide student.

However, pray for luck in your interview as you've already applied..

Please i need the help in clarifying something regarding my USA visa application..

My cousin is in US for her masters program and she will be graduating in August this year. she sent me invite from her school for her graduation program..

my question is:
1)Do i need to book for accommodation in a hotel to support the visa application? any other idea of other kind of document that i will need?
2) the class/type of visa do i need to apply for

thanks all
Make an unpaid reservation in a hotel to support your application.

Present the invitation letter to the CO. And hope you know a lot about the convocant?

Proof of your ties to Nigeria.

You're in the visa category B1.

lonelydude: I have a friend who got a 2years multiple entry US visa in october 2012 but yet to travel.

The Visa will be expiring october 2014 (this year). He's not been able to travel. Although, he's been to the US sometimes in 2008 for a conference. He also got a 2 year visa then (2008-2010). That was the only time he used that visa.

Also, he's got 3 expired UK visas on his passports (one as a student).

The issue now is he's NOT too sure if he'll still be able to travel to the US with this present visa.

DO YOU THINK HE WILL BE GIVEN ANOTHER US VISA JUST IN CASE HE DOESN'T USE THIS ONE?

I learnt they don't care if you have been there before or if you've been issued before, which is the basis of my question.
Whether you use that visa or not, it matters not. A dropbox is only possible when your application is for the same category of visa previously issued and it is within a year since expiration.

deebsman1: Pls is it true that a visiting US visa can carry the length of time up to 2 yrs?
And if possible, can a visiting visa holder work while in the US?
replies pls?
Working with a visa category which stipulates visit, medicals etc other than employment, is a ground for arrest and deportation if discovered by security operatives. The culprit should also kiss a future visit to the States, a goodbye.

Except you get married and have kids who may eventually file for you, an immigrant visa back to the U.S. at a future date when they come of age. This is still subject to an over-riding immigration rule.
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m):
labella12: Good day tzetzefly
Great job you are doing here. Please I just want to clarify this.

R u saying that if they are given full 2years B1/B2 visa valid from May he can't use it till June a day before the conference?
The applicant(s) applied for a conference visa with a start date of June 2014. This is the record on the Dept of State database.

However, if the applicant(s) having been issued with a visa say B1/B2, then proceeded with the said visa earlier than the supposed reason for such issuance in the first instance being conference, then he/she can be subjected to an extensive enquiry at the port of entry by any CBP officials.

And if the officials are not convinced by his/her tale for an earlier visit to the States other than the purpose for which the visa was first issued, then a deportation file will be inevitable.

Exception to the rule is only on extreme cases such as medicals, matriculation / convocation ceremonies, family related issues, court hearing.

Take note, tourism was not included in my write-up above as an extreme case basis.

Tourism can come up later after the visa category if it is a B1/B2 has been made use of for the first purpose for which it was issued (conference).

Hope you're cleared?

salam00: Hello, tzetzefly
Good day,

i really appreciate your assistance and help on this US Visa issues.

I have an important question to ask so as not to make a mistake.

My conference will commence from 24th-26th June, 2014 (3 days conference).
Now, registration has just started for the conference. The organizers say there won't be refund of payment after May, 21.

Now our company wants to pay for the registration. We plan to book our appointment before May, 21st.
So, if in case the visa is not issued then we can have more room/time to quickly request for our refund because it cost a lot for the registration.

MY QUESTION IS: Won't the visa officer think is too early to seek for interview, while conference will hold 24th-26th June,
if i book my interview appointment maybe between 1st - 20th May, in order not to reach 21st,May deadline for non-refund of conference registration fee?

Please enlighten me.

Thank you,
It is no problem at all if you attend the interview few months before the conference date. You only cannot use that visa to travel if and when you're issued, before the conference start date.

The most important aspect is payment for attendance which shows commitment on your part.
Nairaland GeneralLagos Pastor, Dr. Sign Fireman Arrested Over Murder of a Virgin Girl by tzetzefly(op):
Controversial Lagos miracle pastor Pastor Ofuche Ukoha, popularly known as Dr. Sign Fireman, has been arrested by Lagos police over alleged ritual murder of a 12 year old girl.

Sahara Reporters reports... "Sign Fireman has been implicated in
a ritual murder scandal involving a
boy in his church who strangled a 12
year old girl while trying to obtain
feces from her for ritual purposes.

The disclosure of Pastor Fireman's
involvement in the scandal was made
by an eighteen year old boy paraded
by the police in Lagos. The teenage
suspect stated during the parade
that he was sent on the ritual mission by Pastor Fireman.

He said he had always dreamt of
becoming rich and had approached the pastor personally, after years of
attending the church without his own
financial miracle happening, Mr. Fireman reportedly told him the way to get his Sign for finance was to get the feces of a virgin girl.

The suspect said Pastor Fireman promised him a reward of N100,000 for the assignment. The suspect narrated how he sought and killed the 12 year old girl simply named "Bose", the daughter of poor lady on his street.
Confirming the incident to a Lagos
correspondent this morning, Lagos Police PRO, Mrs. Ngozi Braide said Pastor Fireman was arrested on Tuesday five days after he was declared wanted by the police. She said investigation has commenced regarding his involvement.

She also said the outcome of the
investigation would soon be made
public. With his church receiving hordes of miracle seekers every weekend, Pastor Fireman's church auditorium at Aguda, Surulere area of Lagos is reportedly notorious for using semi-nude female ushers.

The letter from your office is only to introduce you to the CO and which the VO may not go through. It is just safe to go for your interview with all the listed docs as you may be asked to produce any of them for confirmation.

The CO will be more concerned about the IV from the conference organizers and he/ she will definitely glance through the lV.

The person you're travelling with will have to fill his /her own form DS-160. And answerable for him / herself.

bossladyMo: Also, will the fact that the person I'm ttavelling with had relatives in the US affect me? Even though I don't know those relatives?
It can affect your application if the person you're travelling with cannot adequately defend his / her knowledge of the relative in the States. Since your main purpose is tourism, it takes two to tango.

bossladyMo: Will it be weird if I say I'm travelling alone?
Not at all. The better for you.

bossladyMo: Also, i intend doing business with a US company over there. Hoeever, I want to confirm their authenticity before proceeding with whatever business I have dping with them. Would it be advisable I tell the consular officer I intend doing both business and pleasure...or should i just say one?
Better you stick with your tourism. Business visit is a different ball game altogether.

A company or an individual can sponsor his / her conference. There is no particular law stating otherwise so long as you have the funds to spend.
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m):

Another question pls - A friend of mine put to bed recently, but intends travelling with her 3month old. Shealready has her US visa, but the baby doesn't.

Pls how will she go about applying for the baby. Does she need to go through another round of interviews for the baby, or do babies have a special applicatoon process?
She will need to fill a form DS-160 for her infant child along with the payments of the applicable visa fees. Thereafter, she needs to send an e-mail with the subject heading as, ''Interview For A Three(3) Months Old Infant'' and then explain in a short sentence, stating the passport number, name and date of birth of her infant child to:

Also, my husband is self-employed. Will that affect my chances and also, how much should the balance of the statement of account be.

Thanks.
Your husband can serve as a tie back home for you and not your infant. Do not make the VO view you as a carefree personality.

Make a budget of the travel cost to you and come up with a likely figure. This will guide you as to how much you should be having for your travel costs.
