Emblem: Hello tzetzefly,

My interview is next week and i will like to know my chances of getting a visa. I am going to houston to visit my best friend for a period of 14 days. I couldn't make it to his wedding due to my busy schedule at work. But right now, i am on leave. I am married but intend going alone, i have a good job. Pls what are my chances of securing a visa.
Your home tie and the knowledge about your friend will count toward your visa success.

Mofella: @Tzetzefly........ Please do you have a testimony of anyone who has never travelled out before but applied for US B1/B2 visa and was given on a virgin passport. Kindly respond pls
Quite a lot. A virgin passport so to say, does not prevent a visa issuance. A lack of home ties does.

Ramzolly: Hi tzetzefly. Iv been following through with your posts and i would like to seek your advice. I intend to travel to the US for christmas holiday. Im 29 years old. I work with a reputable bank in Abuja and im also engaged. I applied for a US visa in May last year for vacation and also to attend a relative's graduation but was denied after the lady asked me if i was married and if i have been out of the country before. All responses were in the negative. Also, at the time, my salary was 104k,she also asked me that question too. But now, i earn a salary of 239k because i was promoted last year after the interview. I have been to Paris, dubai and UK. Please what are my chances? And is it a problem that i would not be travelling with my fiancee? I intend to spend 7nights in the US.I am still filling out my ds-160 and i realise my form doesnt come with the question of places i intend to visit and countries visited in past 5years. My guess is..it isnt same question even for everyone in bi/b2 category.Kindly advice. Thanks
To start with, ''have you traveled to any countries within the last five years'' is under the column (work/ education/training) from the drop down, click on ''additional'' as stated to view that information.

Your economic circumstance has changed couple with your travel history. You should be fine for now if you are very confident during your next interview.
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m):
empro07: tzetzefly and others could you pls advice on the below

I,my wife and my baby of 2 years old intends to travel to the USA by December for holiday(Tourism)7 days

We got married in 2010 and which my wife has been travelling to Dubai for business since 2008,in the year 2011 she got employed in Dubai and got her residence visa which she worked for just 8 months or 1 year and then resigned from her work and returned back to Nigeria where she had her baby and then we both proceeded to start our own registered business here in Nigeria which both of us are partners(EVENT CENTRE & RESTAURANT)thou i visited Dubai twice in 2011 when she was still working but i lost my passport to a robbery incident.(I DO NOT HAVE A RECORD OF BEEN TO DUBAI IN 2011)

In the year 2012 i got another passport and then traveled to Dubai twice in they year 2013(I STILL HAVE THE PASSPORT)

What are our chances travelling as a family to the USA by December we plan to submit my own bank statement which would be around 3.5million naira

Besides my own statement of account as the sponsor for the family trip would we need to submit my wife's bank statement?

We plan to also submit evidence of our landed property where we run our business

And should i mention that i was in Dubai twice in 2011 but i have no evidence to prove i was there as i lost my passport before getting another in 2012 and then traveled twice to Dubai in 2013..

Our fear is if i refuse to mention or inform that i was in Dubai in 2011,what if the VO ask how she got pregnant in 2011 if she was in Dubai working while i was in Nigeria..thou we are also thinking that since her passport is so full of Dubai stamps/visas as she's been going since 2008 and then Dubai residence, about 4 times she visited Kenya with visas and then entry and exit stamps of Togo,Ghana and Benin rep..we are thinking they might not be able to acknowledge when or how she got pregnant.(MY WIFE STILL RETAINS HER OLD PASSPORT)

We await your advise

Thanks
First, the consulars base their opinion on what they see and not what is presumed. Your passport is lost and that is that: meaning you dont have a proof of travel in 2011.

Except you have any or all of: bus pass, boarding pass, stamped UAE e-visa slips, hotel booking receipts etc for 2011, you cannot convince anyone of your trip back then.

Your wife has nothing to fear. How and where she got pregnant, is nobody's business. The business of the VO is if she is pregnant now and what her plans are for delivery.

Have a solid itinerary for a holiday in one or more cities in the States and turn up confident for your interview, you should be good to go.
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m): 11:14pm On Sep 08, 2014
SMARTRON: It was a 6:30am appointment and it goes thus:
ME/my wife: Good morning
VO: morning, what is your purpose of visit
Me: vacation to visit my wife cousin
VO: For how long
ME: 10days
VO: Have ever travelled before?
Me: yes
VO: is wife pregnant?
Me: no, our child is still barely a baby
VO: does any of you intend seeking medical in the states
Me: no
VO: do you intend having baby in the states
Me: no,
VO: what do you?
Me: I work with an oil and gas company and my is a teacher both here in Lagos
VO: have you ever travelled as a family?
Me: no, I was in Malaysia in 2009, UK 2012 and I and my wife were in South Africa last year and we all are yet to travel since we had our baby.
VO: sorry you are not eligible this time am going to give back your passport and this paper.
End.
A white paper was handed over to us with our passports. Although I have a cancel UK entry stamp on my passport which she never mentioned anything about.
Observation made from your write up above, you seem to answer to questions you're not asked, this is a negative to your interview.

And you answered wrong about travelling as a family. From your post, you have actually done this before with your wife to South Africa.

Give it a break and apply later. Travel with your wife someplace else.
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m): 9:58pm On Sep 08, 2014
SMARTRON: Thank you very much, I really appreciate your words of encouragement. my wife is not expectant and my wife's cousin was actually the same person that invited us for our last application which was denied. I hope our claim this time around as a tourist will not be a contradiction of our previous application? And if we are to apply as a tourist what is your definition of enough funds and kindly give advice on like places we should mention.
If you can give a script about how your last interview went, we might be able to advise appropriately.

Mofella: @ Tzetzefly .........Pls I need your urgent advise . my wife and my daughter who is1yr 2 months old will be going for interview in Us embassy Lagos this month, my wife is a pharmacist and earns good pay while I work with a foremost financial institution, but none of us have travelled before, my wife got her passport before we got married and she has her maiden name on her passport which is not expiring any time soon, my daughter has my own name as her surname on her own passport and it's only d two of them(my wife and daughter) that will be going for the interview. Pls will news paper publication for change of name for my wife be a sufficient evidence to show she is the mother or does she need to go and get a new passport to reflect her marital name? Despite d fact that her passport is not expiring anytime soon.
Quick advise Pls.
She can apply with her maiden name.

The newspaper publication will suffice.

Any other info required, she should be able to explain to the CO.

Since she has her ties intact, she will be good to go.

The French Embassy can be thorough and frustrating, if you know you have no travel experience, then i will not advise you to holiday in France.

You will likely be refused with the indices you mentioned above.

Though your pay meets the requirements, other factors do not.

Travel someplace else for now and save your hard earned cash.

Education is not a sufficient tie by itself, the CO considers other factors to arrive at a decision.

Advice on this * before I filled in atlanta and I don't know anyone there, but this time around I filled In where I know someone, I hope it pulls through
Possibly you have no ties in anyway to your country. Their fears, i guess.

I'm not sure it is advisable to pay for the ticket when the visa isn't issued yet, as most of the promotional tickets are non-refundable

Visit Airfrance office to seek guidance. They would normally issue you a confirmed ticket with conditions (not necessarily paid for).

BrTune: NL,
Please I want you all 2 assist me with this, I applied to the French Embassy in Abuja for a visa and was scheduled for an interview on the 20th of August, I had the interview in less than 10 minutes, The french woman after going through my documents, Simply asked what I was traveling for, I answered stating it was a conference, as my invitation letter was already in the file of documents I handed her.
She asked what I do for a living and I stated I was a law student. She then asked for my visa fee which I handed over and she told me to come back after 15 days for my passport.
The problem is few days back, I tried to track the status of my application and after entering my details it shows 'Error in Application contact Administrator'
I called their customer careline and the guy at the other end stated that I must have entered wrong details, Sobhe asked me for name, date of interview and all other details which I gave, he then said my application cannot be found. He then asked me to scan and mail all my receipts which I was issued and my passport cover which I did day b4 yesterday, I am still yet to hear from them. I am worried because the body organising the conference gave us all a deadline of 10th of sept to scan and send a copy of our International Passport and Visa, so they could make Plane Reservations otherwise we would pay the Airfares ourselves, I don't stay in abuja and being a student I don't have much resources to throw away.
Please what should I do, anyone with a similar experience should share and If you have any advice, I would appreciate it.
@Morderator plz muv this to the FP so I can get assistance.
You will have to put a call through again scheduling for a visitation. It is a situation that will need your physical presence.

peter2010: Hello experts in the house. Please, as my visa interview draws nearer, i really need a quick clarification. My int. passports are now three, the initial one has all my visas (UK, 3 Schengen) and entry stamps while the next has about 3 UK visa refusal stamps on it which I believe have dented the passport. But my new passport which I'm using to apply has nothing on it. My question is: Should I remove the 2nd passport with refusal stamps since i don't need it or I should just combine all the passports and submit when requested for? And hope it wont av any adverse effect on the application. Your candid opinion asap will really be appreciated. Thanks for your usual cooperation.
Why were you refused UK visa when you claim to have been issued same UK visa previously?

There is what is regarded as administrative processing (AP) at the Dept of State, this is all encompassing and detailed investigation.

If you hide the second passport and you're unfortunate to get an AP, this will however pop up when an enquiry is sort at the UK Embassy.

The choice is yours.

I am abreast with all the legal documents required but I would like to know if the odds are against me as one without a previous travel history.

Thank you.
All your reasons for visit are valid.

But more valid if you included on your DS-160, a planned attendance and walk-in information and group session at the University of Houston Law Centre in preparation for your LLM programme.

You need to have solid ties to Nigeria as well.

Thanks so much famz.
Have you travelled before as a couple?

Is your economic tie to Nigeria sudstantive enough to make you return?

Are you financially competent to sponsor your trip?

Where are you visiting in the States?

These are few questions to ask yourself.

i appreciate the great jobs you guys are doing here. I need guidance . i want to apply for the US visitors Visa . I had initially applied in 2003 and was refused. I presently want to travel with my wife and kid. we want to spend part of my annual leave in the states. i have earlier traveled to the UK and UAE within the last 2 months. ( official and business for both trips). I work for a Fed Govt agency. My wife is presently not working . i want an assessment of my chances of getting the visa. Kindly note that i went with my family for the UAE Trip.I also have an aunt in the US and i intend to use her address as my place of contact. Want to know if that will count against me or should i get a hotel reservation? Also i want to know which areas i need to devote my attention to as my job is stable and that should count as a tie for me and I have the financial means to finance the trip. we intend to visit New york and i know that i need to create an itinerary for our visit.House, what else would be of importance to me and what documents do i need for presentation at the embassy .Please help with your responses guys.
Know your aunt's status in the States.

Your economic situation counts toward a visa issuance hope yours is fine.

Family travel is good, once you're able to finance it.

Your purpose of visit to New York is relevant.
