Even a dunce knows this but Tinubu want to use federal government to build road and railway across the islands in Lagos.

Which Calabar is he heading, do u know how many bridges it will take to cross the massive bodies of water across Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers and Cross Rivers?

Dey play!

I'm sure the bridges will be more than 100. This highway is a scam

Good move. Citizens have the full rights to exercise freedom of religion. Wearing hijab is a right.

Education / Re: Tinubu Directs Education Officials To Conduct Census Of All Schools, Teachers by U09ce: 9:06am On Apr 19
This a good step. I pray it gets implemented. You can't control what you don't measure. Without proper data, all interventions are bound to fail. The govt shouldn't depend on NGOs/international organisations for demographic data because there's a high tendency for such people to inflate/deflate figures in order to continue to draw funding from donors.

This loan might turn out to be a big relief for indigent students, especially in these hard times. Graduate with a good grade, get a job and pay back back the loan gradually

Another duplication. Where's HIDF, PIDF etc? The problem is not the formation but the funding. How can you get say $10b annually for 5 years? If not, we'll be in a perpetual cycle of slow development

If it's the quota to mobilise troops to the front line, they'll never call for inclusion. But anything juicy, they'll be quoting senseless "affirmative action".
Since when BH insurrection started, I've never heard of a female security personnel who was felled by enemies. Neither during the current scourge of banditry. But thousands of men had laid their lives to ensure that the political structure stands.
In essence, the female folk should not run faster than their shadows. In the roles that you find yourself, make it count. Don't be a Diezani, Sadiya or Betta. Be an Akunyili. People will beg me to lead them.

One of the very few Nigerian politicians who has made a mark in all the public roles he was assigned. He's the perfect match for the obstinacy of the citizenry to do the right thing. One day, perhaps when he's no more, people will get to know who he truly is.

Business / Re: Naira Makes List Of 15 Worst Currencies Against The US Dollar - Statisense by U09ce: 5:51am On Mar 19
735i:
It is impossible for a currency to depreciate by over 100%. This is shabby reporting.
It's true that the currencies listed have performed very badly, but their computations are wrong.

For a currency to be negative 100, it means that you holding the currency is you owing in USD, which is impossible.

I think you got it wrong. A currency can depreciate or appreciate with no cap - it can go negative 1000%. What matters is the benchmark. If reference is taken from say last year when official rate was around 500 Naira to a Dollar, then match it with today's almost 1500 Naira to a Dollar. That's 3X thus - 300%. Hope you get the gist

Politics / Re: FG Eases Access To Student Loan In New Bill Sent By President Tinubu To NASS by U09ce: 6:20pm On Mar 15
This bill looks far better than the previous one. FIRS reportedly collected circa 12 trillion in 2023. 1% of that amount is just 120 billion. If every student applies for 500k loan(a conservative amount for both school fees and maintenance), it will cater for about 240k local students. I think that's a fair number.

Islam for Muslims / Re: What’s Your Muslim Name And The Meaning? by U09ce: 12:41pm On Mar 15
rattlesnake:
Jesus is the only way....Don't delete this post cos Muslims love Jesus

Jesus is not the only way, but rather one of the ways. God is the only way. And Jesus is not God, and God is not Jesus. Jesus is human, God is not. God has no beginning and no end, Jesus and every other human has. Thus, follow God through the guidance of Jesus. That's true Christianity

Islam for Muslims / Re: What Will Happen On The Day Of Resurrection? by U09ce: 12:38pm On Mar 15
May we among the dwellers of Paradise. The biggest loss is to lose both in the world and hereafter--you live a penurious worldy life devoid of Godliness, and then transit to the afterlife for eternal torment.
It is innately wired in humans that this world is not a final destination. There's a place where you reap what you sow. This world isn't it. There got to be recompense for every good deed and bad deed people have done. Let's get sense. Make hay while the sun shines.
Islam is the true solution to the diseases of the mind and heart. Get to know more about it, and its beauty will unravel before you. Don't be a rabid NL commenter who comes to blaspheme anything that has to do Islam. There are thousands of christian threads on this platform, but you rarely find a Muslim who goes there to incite chaos. That's because there are several commonalities between Islam and Christianity. The moment a Muslim reviles Jesus, he's gone out of the fold of Islam. Same applies to Mary.
May Allah guide us aright

The last time I heard about the All Africa Games was in 2003, when Nigeria was the host. Billions of Naira was spent by the OBJ administration, including for the construction of the National Stadium Abuja. The reportage of such games should in the level of the recently concluded AFCON. AAG features all African countries, while AFCON does not. The organisers need to do better

Okay, I get that. My "grouse" with your original comment was when you said they "...crossed the line of respecting other people's privacy"

WhatsApp, Google and Facebook regularly trample on those lines. So wanted to "tackle" you if you were happy to have big corporations trample on your privacy but we're taking offence on a small nobody doing the same.

For their ability to see deleted messages and statuses, there was a time when we couldn't even delete or edit WhatsApp messages. So I just take it like those users are still in those periods

I get your point. Before you installed WhatsApp, you must have agreed to the Terms & Conditions Therein. Thus, if you observe anything that contravenes that, you can sue them if are in a supportive jurisdiction.

Atimes you mistakenly send some chats that are not meant for them, you immediately delete when you realise the error. Unfortunately, GB users will still see it. Same applies to statuses
