MELANIEALEXA:Hello, I sent you a mail. |
Fruitfulvinee:Our babies are blessed. The question is, "Who no like better thing?" ![]() The breasts are so sweetly comforting that when alternatives are presented, they are turned away which is quite normal. But persistence will help baby to adapt. It's just like people who have love to eat live chicken always complain when they take frozen chicken, but they still eat it. Just continue to get baby familiar to bottle. Please ensure that you get really good bottles with teats that are almost like nipples and follow the age-type per nipple (most bottles have 1 for 0-3months, 2 for 3-6months, etc) to prevent baby from choking or from extremely slow feeding as a result of much tinier holes. And no, introducing bottle should not stop you from putting baby to breast. Just let baby get used to the bottle, that's all. They will take it when mama's away at work, trust me. |
Kemade2007:Go and buy Milk booster cookies. When you make your pap, preferably ogi baba, break 2 pieces into it, add your milk and sugar, then drink. Do this for 6 days (I think there are 12 pieces in each box) and you will see fantastic results. You can check their Instagram account- themilkbooster_. Just make sure that you express and store because if you don't, your breast production volume will reduce back to only what baby takes. |
Mumaraoluwa:It can be very upsetting to find out that you're not getting the kind of support you need, especially if you deem the person capable. However, we are women and are somehow resilient. Women have been doing this and they came out strong. Tips to manage them while taking care of your newborn are; Now, the first thing is to know if you have a strong support system. Your mum, sister, neighbors, etc. These are people you call who can assist you from time to time. A boss once told me that what helped her a lot while she was having her kids was her support system. Toddlers need to release the excess energy they have in their bodies. Forcing them to sit still is very unfair to them. Get footballs, basket balls, table tennis, bicycles, drums, etc. If you have a small yard, just ensure that it's safe, let the toddler go out to play. Please ensure that the area is safe, maybe inside your compound. Once it is 5pm, dd or ds should be back inside the house. Discourage too much television. Also, don't ignore dd or ds when they come seeking attention because they become whiny and start crying at the drop of a hat. The feeling of being replaced will make them act naughty in a bid to get your attention and then you have more work on your hands. Involve them in the chores, put baby's diapers in the dustbin, bring baby's clothes, etc. They will be so eager to please that you will even start begging them to stop. ![]() While your dd or ds are playing, do your cooking, laundry, cleaning, etc. For the sake of sanity and your health, if you do not feel up to doing household chores, please leave it. A lot of women have mortgaged their tomorrow with heavy debts for their kids because they have stressed themselves to the extent that they will be looking 70 at 50. Meanwhile, dh will be looking chocolatey. |
FairyGodmother:Hi dear, Engorged breasts can be very painful and also cause you to feel feverish. Before you express or put baby to breast, dip a towel in hot water and wrap around the breast for about 3-5mins. It will help the breast milk flow easier. Have you been able to establish proper breastfeeding. Like @Limahgirl advised, get a good breastpump. I use avent. I understand Medela products are exceptionally good for new mothers, so you can try that. |
emiola28:Give your body a little time. It stretched over a period of 9 months, it will take some time getting back to shape. Since it's CS, it's not usually recommended to commence any exercises that could put a strain on the belly so early. However, breastfeeding does help to shrink the uterus back in thereby reducing the size of the belly gradually. Breastfeeding is strongly encouraged. Take pap, lots of water, get adequate rest. I take Milk booster cookies when I notice my breast milk supply seems to be thinning out due to stress or something and BAM! my breasts are full and leaking. |
trevolady:Awww, I can imagine how exhausting it can be. First thing is to get some kind of help. Infact, you need all the help you can get. Itemize your to-dos for the day and then a week. - Cooking -Your laundry - Baby's laundry - Tidying the home, etc. For the cooking, you can get someone to help you go to the market and then cook some soups and stew to store in the freezer. You take as you need. That should last you like 2 weeks. Infact, I know someone who asked a caterer to make a paint rubber of moi-moi. She simply stocked it in her freezer. She brings 2 pieces out the night before if the need arises. And it serves her well, with her pap, rice, just plain or however she wants it. My point is, you do not need to cook everything. Your laundry could be done very early in the morning. Say 5am, bathe baby 6am, eat and back to bed to rest. You could ask someone to help with the tidying of the home once a week. Or better still, get a trusted live-in help for the period dh won't be around. You won't be lonely and still get some time to rest while baby is awake and you still need to sleep. |
Awesomemama:EBF babies rarely get to like taking solids on time. Even getting them to take water after 6 months is war. Formula should be given once a day while baby is still breastfed at other times(preferably in a bottle), then gradually increase the frequency of giving formula. However, they often get to pick up once they start eating, just not variety. If they like plain pap, then plain pap it is. If it is rice, rice it is. If it is cereal, cereal it is. Swallow, same goes. Just rest assured that they will be healthy. |
mrslander:First, the issue of your breast milk production needs to be addressed. Is your breast sore because you are unable to produce much milk? If that is the case, you can get Milk booster lactation cookies, you can check on Instagram. Those cookies work wonders. You can start with 2 cookies per day while also taking pap and your breast milk will be in excess so much so that your baby may not be able to consume the quantity you'll be producing. If it is the Nan, someone told me that Nan often makes babies poop to either be strong or difficult to pass out. Also, babies do not necessarily poop everyday as their body takes as much as it needs. If you wish to help the poop, my MIL uses a little mentholatum on cotton bud to tickle the bum so the stool comes out. |
Thank you sabi mamas. I actually bought Sudocream but I wasn't sure if she could use it considering her age. We're not using any powder but I'll get the baby tribotan later today. I use Huggies wipes (For sensitive skin) - Most likely I will stop its use for now and see how it goes. Thank you. |

Dear Sabi mamas Thank you all for your inputs. I did take your advice and have been massaging his leg. The physio guy said the swelling was supposed to have come down within 3 days. The doc said to give him panda. Now he stretches the leg and puts a little weight though a bit gingerly. For sure, the massage seems to do the trick. More sabi-ing to you all. God bless. Roseey0: |
Dear Sabi Mamas, I have called a physio and he asked me to come with my baby so he can see the leg. Though he mentioned that they don't really do much until a baby is around a year old. Will give updates as we go. Thank you all. |
Dear Sabi Mamas, Please help me take a look at my son''s left leg. When we went for his 6 weeks vaccines. The left leg got really swollen though I didn't realise this till I got home. I gave him pcm and did a little ice compress. I noticed that he doesn't like to put the leg down at all neither does he stretch it out the way he does the right leg. One day, dh even asked me if his coveralls had the same length. I've been really bothered but I felt it would get better. We went for his 10 weeks vaccination and that same leg got swollen, however the swelling is yet to fully come down. Should I be worried or start massaging it and stretching the leg. Not to compare or anything, but I saw a baby who was born on the same day as he was and the baby could stand on the mother''s leg with support while my son can only stand firmly with his right leg. Once you place his left leg, he won't stand. |
