Baba, I need Ur number. We need to talk ASAP abeg. isangjohnson: |
What are the ifs? That Natural gas is cheaper than PMS and will always be so? |
Thanks so much Gazzuzz for this, your experiment on LPG conversion for generators gave me the confidence to convert my generator. When I saw ur videos on TikTok, I really wanted to know the year of the Hyundai i10 so I could do some calculations on the gains you got from converting it. I'm happy U stated the year on this post. The 2012 i10 has an average fuel efficiency of 32.2 MPG or 13.68 KM per liter according to data from FUELLYdotcom (this data was gotten from 55 vehicles, tracked across 2,651 fuel ups and 568,897 miles). Using this average, that 267km trip you did with N2,450 worth of CNG would have cost you: 267/13.68= 19.5 liters to complete. That is N13,271 at N680 per liter (As sold in my area), an incredible savings of N10, 821!!!, (over 80%). I had already made up my mind to convert my car to CNG cos I had done extensive research on it before now. The only issue was that there were no CNG stations in my State. Luckily, last month a CNG station was commissioned in my state, the very next Local Government to where I stay (39km away). Your videos once again on CNG conversion are timely, I can see the practicality of it all (not just theories and figures I got online), thank you so much. I think I will begin my conversion journey while I try to get those who would partner with me to get a station operational in the town I live.

|
Sir, your ignorance is not your problem but your close mindedness. I'm glad a lot of people corrected your wrong assumptions but I still need to reiterate it with my personal experience. The transformer in our area was faulty for 3 months (power was just restored today after I championed efforts to repair the transformer as PHED was telling us stories). During those hellish 3 months, I was running 12.5kg of gas every 7 days (4 hours run time every evening in which time I would charge my grid dependent inverter system to help me in d afternoon). I was averaging 28hours for a 12.5kg cylinder. That same generator consumes 1 liter per hour under the same load conditions (Sumec SPG3000 2.5Kw capacity). Let's put it into perspective: 28hrs weekly would have cost me 28 X 680 = N19, 040 every week (I tried running it with fuel for 3 days before I hurriedly converted) Meanwhile I bought LPG at 740-780 for the first month, taking the highest cost of 9,750 per 12.5kg, I saved 9,290 per week for the 1st month. THAT IS A SAVINGS OF 37K IN 4 WEEKS. The second month, it rose to an average of 842 per kg , I was buying at 10,525 for 12.5kg. 19,040- 10,525 = 8,515. THAT IS A SAVINGS OF 34K IN 4 WEEKS FOR MONTH 2. I bought at this same rate for the first 2 weeks of the last 4 weeks, but the last 4 weeks saw a sharp increase to 1k per kg. Taking an average, I place my spending at 11,513 per 12.5kg. 19,040 - 11,513 = 7,527. THAT IS A SAVINGS OF 30K IN 4 WEEKS FR THE LAST MONTH. TOTAL SAVINGS OF 101K BY USING LPG INSTEAD OF PMS ON MY GENERATOR FOR 3 MONTHS, 4 HOURS DAILY!!! There is something I want to point out, I only serviced the generator in the first month of use, changed a spark plug in the second month and the 3rd month, I DID NOT SERVICE OR CHANGE A SPARK PLUG!!!! My generator ran cleaner, quieter and more efficiently. I had to bring out the spark plug last week just to check, it was looking so clean. And the generator starts with a single drag. what I just narrated are facts and I don't care if you believe me or not. After all I don't sell LPG conversion kits. Just be open minded about things, do research before you try to "debunk". Eriokanmi: |
You should not generalize as a Risk Engineer that you said you are, you should evaluate first. 1. You should know that CNG has a higher ignition temperature than petrol which makes it less dangerous ( CNG can operate at up to 700 degrees Celsius, as compared to petrol’s 455 degrees). A petrol car will catch fire almost 2 times faster than a CNG operated car if there is an uncontrolled increase in internal temperature. 2. Also, the cylinders which carry CNG are a lot tougher than the traditional petrol tanks. Before they make their way to cars, they undergo extreme tests to eliminate the risks of leakage. 3. CNG is also safer than other fuels in the event of a spill, because natural gas is lighter than air and disperses quickly when released. In the event of an accident, IF (a very big IF) the CNG tank is punctured, the CNG will very quickly rise above the heavier air, petrol on the other hand will stay. If there is an open flame, the petrol will ignite and explode, the CNG won't. reynold101: |
for starters I want to state clearly that I am not happy a president we never voted for was forced on us. Secondly, I will still criticize the manner in which Tinubu went about the subsidy removal, it was callous and everything else he is doing to mitigate the effect is an afterthought. Moving forward, CNG is cheaper now and will always be so because of certain factors 1. It is locally produced (Powergas has 5 CNG plants across Nigeria). 2. Nigeria as at 2022 had 208 Trillion cubic Ft of Natural gas (So CNG will ALWAYS be locally processed for a long time to come). 3. PMS is not expensive because of demand as you wrongly thought, it is expensive because A. it is majorly imported, B. The value of the naira is at the worst it has ever been. To put B in perspective, if the Naira gains against the dollar to say N300 per $. PMS will crash to about N190 to N230 per Liter. 4. Even when PMS was being smuggled, the smuggling didn't affect the price in Nigeria. The smuggling was due to d fact that Naija PMS was subsidized, hence cheaper that the price in neighboring countries. 5. It takes more than demand to increase price, cost of production is a greater determinant. With the FG interest and plans I have seen, the plan is to push incentives that will encourage major players in the CNG production sector. In summary, I am sayin that this will work if we are all interested in how it plays out. Natural gas is being flared every second across oil fields in Nigeria, we have to be vocal about that. We have to scrutinize every part of this initiative, call for adjustment in areas that will not favor us and take it upon ourselves to report and shout when anything goes wrong. Subsidy was wrong, the way it was removed was wicked but WE CANNOT GO BACK TO IT IF WE HOPE TO SURVIVE AS A NATION. ivandragon: |
The information you are passing across is inaccurate. The technology has been around since the 1990's, it didn't catch on due to reliability issues but now that these have been sorted out, it's gradually gaining popularity. These inverters are called Micro or String inverters. 1. Micro inverter: allows for connection with a SINGLE SOLAR PANEL 2. STRING INVERTER: allows for connection of 2 or more solar panels connected in series. They basically come in 2 variants, On grid and off grid systems; for naija, the best is the off grid system cos on grid needs Public supply to be available before it works. And yes, you can buy it on Amazon, Alibab etc. oweniwe: |
Point of correction, the Yorubas don't have their ancestral origin from Brazil. They were taken there in the 1880s as slaves. Their culture survived and is still practiced in some parts today because they were the last set of slaves to be taken to Brazil. daveP: |
thanks so much, it will be highly appreciated. FEGEITOK: |
Thank you so much for this project. It is almost impossible to read through the entire thread and asking questions that have already been asked will meet with being ignored. Your project will be a great help. Please start a thread for it. idk2023: |
Guys, sorry I need to barge in; I won't be able to read up 1300 plus pages. Here is my issue. I have about 12-16hrs public power supply daily but PHED has refused to supply power between 7pm and 12am, forcing me to always put on my gen between those hours. I want to set up an inverter system that I will charge with public supply to power A TV SET 75W, A DC FAN 10W, LED BULBS 40W MAX for 5-6 hrs in the evening. Please what will I need to set this up. I already got a quotation for a starplus 220ah Tubular battery for 140k (is the battery good and is the price okay?) Finally, I will build on the system to ultimately power 75W TV, 70W CEILING FAN, LED BULBS 60W, CHEST FREEZER 220W with solar panels as a primary source of power and public supply as back up. So kindly bear this in mind when recommending an inverter. Eagerly awaiting your assistance. Location, Akwa Ibom state. |
Both are perfect and both can allow you to do above $2000 monthly. Here are some of the differences, 1. With Dom account, u can withdraw ur Dollars over the counter if u want to. UBA just stopped withdrawals over the counter for Dollar prepaid cards this November 2022, 2. With ur Dom account, u can receive Dollars from people but with prepaid card u can only receive Dollars if it is transferred from another prepaid card of the same bank, 3. Prepaid card is safer, if stolen they person can only access the funds u have on the card at that time (I personally load the exaqct amount I want to use for a transaction, I dont leave funds there). A Dom account card if stolen gives the peron access to all the funds on ur Dom account. Both will work for your transactions and both will give you good limits, Nyamuri: |
UBA stopped over the counter withdrawals on Dollar prepaid cards since the 1st week of November. I hope it changes oon jadajada: |
Thank you!!! Olamak1: |
PREPAID DOLLAR CARD IS DIFFERENT FROM DOMICILIARY ACCOUNT CARD. Let me explain as much as I can. Domiciliary account is an account you open in a bank for foreign currencies and you can get an ATM card for it. When you get an ATM card for it, the funds in your Dom account can be accessed through the card when u want to make payments via card. Now to PREPAID DOLLAR CARD, this is a stand alone card that is not linked to any bank account. For you to use it, You need to pay in physical Dollars over the counter at the bank. You can also ask someone who has a Dollar prepaid card to sell you funds, he can transfer from his card to yours ; I use UBA Prepaid Dollar card and this is the method i use to fund my card 99% of the times(see the screenshot attached). Now to make the distinction very clear, lets assume you have a UBA dollar prepaid card and you also have a UBA dom account, 1. YOU CANNOT USE YOUR DOLLAR PREPAID CARD TO ACCESSS FUNDS IN YOUR DOM ACCOUNT!!! 2. YOU CANNOT TRANSFER MONEY FROM YOUR DOMICILARY ACCOUNT TO YOUR DOLLAR PREPAID CARD!!! The 2 are completely different and are not linked in any way. I have UBA, Zenith bank and Access domiciliary accounts, ATM cards linked to the Dom accounts and dollar Prepaid cards for each bank. Of all, UBA is the easiest to get. To open a dorm account or get a dollar prepaid card with UBA all u need are: 1. Means of identification: NIN, Voters card, Drivers Lincense or Intl Passport 2. Utility bill 3. A passport photograph That is all!!! And you must make a deposit of atleast $5 as initial deposit (just buy from a Mallam close to you). They dont ask for referees or any of those long process. However, I have one issue with their Dom account, YOU CANNOT TRANSFER FROM YOUR DOM ACCOUNT TO ANOTHER DOM ACCOUNT. Access allows me to transfer from my Dom account to another Access Dom account ( I av not tried transfering to another bank's Dom account before). I hope this ends the confusion, Domicilary account ATM is not the same as a PREPAID DOLLAR CARD! They can both be used for international purchases but they are not the same. Jess99:

Hello. Can I use multiple cards to make payment for a single item that cost more than Naija card limits? Olamak1: |
uchegbu89:Thank you for sharing this. A friend closed his business for more than 2 weeks now and told me he went to work for a company. He called me 10mins ago telling me about QNET and how they pay $225 weekly after undergoing their training. I told him I was interested and needed to know how I can get a job in the company. He told me I need to pay 550k to get registered and my documents prepared as I would be traveling. After his call, I Googled and discovered QNET is an mlm and they even went on dailypost newspaper on 30th June 2022 to warn people against this fake job offer. I fear Nigerians, they now have to deceive people into MLM and becos u were deceived, u will be forced to deceive others so as to recover ur losses. Everyone who comes across this post, pls know this and know peace QNET DOESN'T GIVE JOBS, THAT JOB OFFER IS FAKE. If you have the strength for MLM, go on their site and get directions on how to sign up. NO GO DASH PERSON 550K!!! |
I just saw this post in 2020 & it helped me tremendously |

This is a ponzi scheme, the indicators and red flag are numerous. Run |
The group is steadily losing membership. My issue with her was mentioning Igbos in the statement. If she issues with senseless people, she shd have addressed the senseless people and left out the tribe. Rant Hq won't be the same after this. |
I was so happy to see comments from some reasonable persons on this thread. We still have hope. The Madagascar concoction has to go through clinical and human trials, they are even lucky that the controversy surrounding the "drug" will accelerate the process. 20 persons took it over a period of 3 weeks, 2 recovered; what happened to the other 18? The African union has asked them to present technical data on the "drug" but instead of doing that the president is busy claiming WHO is against the drug because it is African. So as Africans we are not good enough to take World standard medication? As it stands, this concoction might just cause more deaths. My stand, u claim it works, go through the normal process for approval then we can buy and take it. |
Coolyemex, your price is on the high side |
That is why i brought it to this forum to get expert opinion. What is ur opinion Sir? youngzoologist: |
About the CAFAN, walk into any ministry of Agric in ur location and ask about them, u will be informed on how to contact them. The loan facility is ongoing in every state in Nigeria, take advantage of this and grow your profit. vroom: |
Thanks Chilanfarms. Okay, I will go for the option of 10,000 Juveniles. 3.5 tonnes = 212 bags of feed bah. So with FCR of 1:1 in mind, I have to go for about 433 bags of feed to get 650g in 3 months for 10,000 juveniles? #25 per juvenile noted. Please how much do you think we shd sell per KG. The cost of feed is stilla concern, is N6000 per bag ok? Thanks for all your help so far. chilanfarms: |
Thanks Ochoso, I knew the offer wasn't right even though I couldn't get d proper calculations. From my stand point, D CAFAN execs want to make the money while d farmers run at a loss. ochosco: |
Hello guys, CAFAN in Akwa Ibom just introduced an Anchor growers scheme in the state for 1000 farmers. It is a CBN loan that will involve a company giving farm inputs to farmers and buying all the fish during harvest The summary of it all is this: 1. You will be given at least 5000 juveniles @ N40 per one = N200,000 2. You will be given 150 bags of a Nigerian feed at N6000 per bag =N900,000 3. cash for the farm management n salaries Everything will sum up to about 1.3m Note: you will not be given physical money but the inputs will be supplied to you. At the end of 3 months, the uptaker will come and harvest your fish and pay N500 per kilo You are meant to have atleast 3250kg of fish at harvest to qualify for another loan. Please kindly assist to analysis Is the pricing ok for the fingerlings and feed? The price per kilo is it okay too since they r buying all at once. then, will d 150 bags of feed be enough to grow them to 650g in 3 months? |
Excellent response. Thanks, it worked for me. cashflowpc: |

. Is it not same Akure i know? Did you pass through ilesha-Ife highway at all? If I could try it on generator and there was no significant difference, I wonder how it could work on automobile. When the cng was first being over-hyped here. I tackled the OP. Later when some Nigerians got carborateur and tried to convert their petrol gen to cng, they dropped the idea and kept silent.
