Finetalk: Why do try ur luck? If u can't do the job, don't't bother applying. How will u write ur cv to show u can.

How do you know if you can do the job if you've never done the job? You just write stuff that you have done before which may have prepared you for the Job. The employer can decide your suitability.

If it is a specialised Job like web design or programming, don't bother applying if you can't do it. But if its an entry level position where you may be trained you should have no problem. Besides how many of your fellow applicants have really done the Job before?

adiposus: Its funny no one ever questions so called statistics from western world yet we have all never bn involved either thru mail or phone? But if its our own govt we immediately doubt the source and origin of the data!

You have a solid point man. No one here has ever contributed to gathering data for all those western silly research they post as fact. They never ask us, they never come around to check (Count number of households that have toilets). They just sit in an office and cook up some really bad statistics and publish.

Finetalk: My take away from this thread: focus on showing skills u have and not on the certificates. Focus on how I can add value. Pkg my cv in a way that shows I can do the work. Do not apply for every job buy the ones I can do.

With the scarcity of Jobs in Naija, you can't afford to be too choosy. Apply for every Job, but always customize your CV to make it seem as if you already know something about the Job. I wouldn't advise you to lie outrightly though. After all, you are likely to still be trained especially if its an entry level position.

How much trouble really? Lose the fear dear. Your parents are only concerned about your safety. Once they are convinced you can drive well, they will even be the ones sending you on errands with the car. Either you take the initiative, or you sit on your hands and wait till whenever they decide they want you to drive; which may be until you buy your own car. Just be safe.
BTW, why did you stop learning?

1st, you have to be up to 18, the legal driving age in Nigeria. Since you are asking this question, I assume your parents are the "strict" type who want things done right. Instead of asking them to let you drive, you should be trying to convince them to teach you how to drive.
You can go for driving lessons on your own at an accredited driving school (Show them your certificate afterwards) or get someone they know to teach you. If you learn from your friends informally, they may not believe you really learnt how to drive.
After, the learning stage, you have to win their trust little by little by driving very carefully whenever you get the opportunity.
